    Mongolian Beef*

Was looking for some food in the neighborhood and my sister recommended I check out Snappy Dragon! They've been open since 1993 and have been serving up northern Chinese wheat-based dishes like dumplings, egg noodles, and ma shu pancakes to the local community ever since. They offer an excellent lunch special Tuesday-Saturday from 11:00am to 4:00pm. For just $13.50/$14.50, you get a full combo: choice of white/brown/fried rice, hot & sour or wonton soup, spring roll or BBQ pork, and a main entrée. In this economy??? Serious value for such a large amount of food. Here's what we tried: - Cashew Chicken -- flavorful sauce with a balanced mix of garlic, peanuts, and peppers; not overly salty - Mongolian Beef -- generous portion of tender beef, sautéed with bok choy, garlic, and chili in a soy-based sauce - BBQ Pork -- came with three slices; a bit on the drier side but still a decent appetizer - Egg Roll -- listed as a spring roll but it's a classic fried egg roll, crispy and satisfying - Wontons -- warm and comforting, came with three per order - Hot & Sour Soup -- well-balanced and warming, with a nice tang and just enough spice I walked in to place my order and everything was ready within 15 minutes! Service was kind and patient, especially while walking me through the lunch menu options. Ambience was small & cozy in the front cashier area but perfect for a takeout only spot. Looks like they also do their own delivery! With such value, quality, and portion size, I'll definitely be grabbing another Snappy Dragon to-go lunch next time I'm in the area.

    Lunch special.

I recently came there on a Sunday with a friend for lunch. The place was pretty empty when we arrived, but a few other patrons started to show up. Snappy Dragon has been in Seattle for many years, so it does have a bit of an older feel to it without updating much of the interior. It's nothing flashy, just a casual, almost hole-in-the-wall feel of a restaurant. It's definitely Chinese-American cuisine, so for those looking for authentic traditional Chinese dishes, this isn't the place for it. A nice aspect of Snappy Dragon is that you can get an affordable lunch with decent portions. For an entree, soup, and choice of spring rolls or pork, you get all that together for about $13-$15 depending on what you choose. I went with the Seven Flavor Beef with peanuts entree while my friend had the Mongolian Beef. Both were tasty with a bit of sweetness, though the flavor profile was pretty similar between the two. The BBQ pork was quite dry, making it the least favorite of what I got. Overall, for the price. It's not bad. It's simple and gets the job done.

My FIL has been frequenting Snappy Dragon for years. My husband has had his left overs a few times and kept mentioning how we needed to try it out, in person. We finally got around to going for lunch. Their lunch menu is amazing. All entrees come with your choice of rice, choice of soup, and an appetizer (BBQ Pork OR Spring Roll). The prices range from $12.50-$14.50. I got the Mongolian Beef. The entree portion was generous. Great flavor & tender beef. I picked the BBQ Pork for my appetizer, it came with 3 pieces. It was tasty, wished there was more! My husband got the General Tsos (not on the menu but they offer it as a lunch special!) He chose the Spring Roll, and Hot & Sour soup (he got my portion too bc I'm not a soup person). He enjoyed his food as well. We are itching to go back! Can't beat the price and the food was great!

3.5/5. Came here on a Weds evening. We ordered a variety of dishes at Snappy Dragon including the homemade chow mein snappy dragon noodles, moo shu pork, the 7 spices beef dish, and fried wontons which were all flavorful and generously portioned. Everything came out hot and in a timely manner. Th The fried wontons were our favorite dish, the others just didn't hit as we'd like. Also, I unfortunately ended up with some stomach discomfort afterward. It may have just been an off day as no one else in my group had issues but it was something to note. Overall, the food was tasty and plentiful, and service was friendly. There's limited parking in their parking lot but parking on the main street or in the neighborhood is available.

The bun was incredibly fresh, light, and pillowy, while the pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth tender with the perfect balance of richness and tang from the kimchi. The pickled vegetables added a bright crunch that tasted incredibly fresh. We started with the salmon tartare, and it was phenomenal! Rich, buttery, bursting with flavor, and so good we were literally fighting over the last bite. And the scallop? Order one for each person. Seriously. It's far too delicious to share. It had just the right amount of heat, leaving the perfect lingering warmth that immediately made us want another. Do yourself a favor and give yourself enough time to work your way through the menu, because every dish we tried was outstanding. Each plate was thoughtfully curated, beautifully executed, and cooked to perfection. I like to call it the C³ trifecta: curated, created, and cooked. Without question, this is some of the best food we've had in a very long time. We can't wait to come back (when visiting) and continue eating our way through the rest of the menu.

Ambiance was great - super warm and welcoming which was magnified by the host. Super lovely. Then the wait staff. Whoever is hiring/training is doing a great job! Not drinking right now but the cocktail menu was super tempting. Every menu item sounded great. We got some help on ordering from our servers and Tanya picked ones she had enjoyed before. We also sat right beside the pick up window so it was fun seeing food come out! The food was fantastic. See pictures for what we ordered. Not sure if I can remember the names of everything but it was a perfect combo!!

Updated review from 2 Months ago…read more.. I've been back roughly 6 times from my previous review of Kona Kitchen. Then it was too many staff, not many customers and it was difficult to get service, that has been improved upon. They are nice and attentive when they see you. Service was normal, the wait staff came around and offered more beverage. This time it was still slow period, so what gives it only 3 stars instead of more? It's the fact that the main door the employee use to go into the kitchen to give their orders to the cooks had cob webs on the top of the door.i mean everyone of them walk through that door hundreds of times throughout the week because I could tell it's been there for some time. Where's the food inspector, should be a concern because if it's there in full view of customers and employees, what else is happening as far as cleanliness at Kona Kitchen. I will be there within two or three days and wonder if the cobweb will still be a fixture there... it's something that is annoying because nobody's done anything about it. Amazing.

This was my first time having real teriyaki chicken and it did not disappoint! I got the spicy crispy combo with pico and rice (chicken katsu and spicy teriyaki chicken). They helped me decide and recommended the spicy chicken with coriander sauce, which I grabbed to go. The chicken itself was super tender and juicy, but it leaned a bit dry, so I'd 100% suggest getting for extra coriander sauce and pico to make it saucier. I'll definitely be getting this again!
