Chicken was ok, a little thin and dry but covered well in sauce. Rice quality was fresh. Egg roll was a mystery but came with the red jelly sauce which helped with the flavor. Legitimately my favorite spot in Seattle. The katsu chicken is so succulent, the teriyaki sauce is never too salty, the tempura is always perfectly crisp. Yak 1st (Teriyaki 1st) was closed, so my homie says we gotta go here. He says that the chicken quality at 1st has been declining. He says, THIS might be the new champ. It's not. Not at all. But it's great, and ordering from the very kind and patient staff didn't make me nerve sweat and heart-seize like I have been for basically the past two decades when I do from 1st. The teriyaki is excellent, the service is friendly; you can get a quick, easy comforting meal here. The meat has a nice grilled Smokey flavor, the sauce is just the right amount of sweet and not too salty, the portions are large. The eggrolls are huge and have lots of meat and veggies inside. I've been jonesing for General Tsao's chicken for the longest! My old spot closed during the pandemic and sadly they never opened again. Ichi is a little gem of a place for take out or sit down. I prefer take-out. I usually order General Tsao's and had the Chicken Katsu once (it was okay). The GT Chicken is delicious - it reminds me of home in NYC. The price is awesome and the portions are generous. The only thing missing from the GT is the broccoli. Parking can be nutty if it's a busy time of day (it's a small parking lot on a busy corner). Also, some shady people sometimes hang out at night doing nothing in the parking lot (at least I witnessed this once). The staff is kind - I highly recommend this spot. read more

I'm updating my review because I recognize everyone deserves a second chance & realize I was unfairly critical of the new owner in my last review. I can only imagine how hard it is being in the restaurant business and should have waited before reviewing. I really do want to support small local businesses in the neighborhood & think the new owners are working hard to fill the big shoes left for them. I have since been back twice and had two really good meals. Small locally run place with amazing food, great portions and decent price. You can tell the owners love the community and the community really loves them back. Mama and Papa Kim are super nice and super efficient. Their Yakisoba is probably my favorite in all of Seattle. Their Kalbi ribs are so yummy and tender. Perfect amount of meat, chewy bit and fatty bit. Probably some of the bigger kalbi pieces I've seen. The teriyaki chicken is also BEST. OK. I love everything here lol. The food is really good!!! The problem i have today is that the hours say open until 9pm. I drove many miles as fast as I could to get there before 9pm. I arrived at 8:49 and they were closing the door. I asked please can you make one more to go and he says no we are closed. Not very nice and I was very disappointed. Although I don't normally frequent this area, one of my boyfriend's coworkers suggested we go here for a quick dinner. We arrived around 8:15pm on a Friday and it was packed! The woman at the front was incredibly sweet and friendly despite being so busy right before closing time. We ordered to-go and our food was ready in less than 10 minutes. The bento boxes are HUGE. We ordered two (one teriyaki chicken and one chicken katsu) and we had enough food for two meals each. The boxes each include miso soup, salad, four pieces of California roll, three gyoza and three shrimp tempura, plus white rice and your entree choice. My katsu was friend to perfection, and all the sides were tasty as well. For $12-15 per bento box? An absolute steal. So thankful for this suggestion! After taking a long hiatus from teriyaki, I decided to give this place a try and made the right decision! Two of my favorites from here are: Kalbi ribs and chicken teriyaki bento box. The portions are generous, each can easily be split into two. The bento box comes with the main meat entree plus side salad, gyozas, california rolls, shrimp tempura, and miso soup. Their gyozas are my favorite. They have some ginger taste in it which really makes the flavor pop. The staff is also very friendly and the food is always ready quickly and on time. Stopped by this time because my boyfriend wanted to eat some Chinese food whilst I insisted on Korean food. The good thing about Ichi Roll is that it provides you not only Chinese and Japanese food (as suggested in its name: wok and teriyaki), but it also serves korean food. So, the problem is solved easy as that. The portion here is pretty value and the quality has been consistently good. The GENERAL TSO'S CHICKEN is has a sweet and spicy taste. It is saucy which goes well with the rice but not too saucy and heavy to a point where you get tired of it after eating a few bites. I would recommend it for anybody who enjoys orange chicken but wants to have a better version of that. The KALBI tastes amazing as well. Never had it tasted off any of the times I have been here. The only conclusion I can draw from my last three experiences is that Ichi Roll is consistently with the quality and quantity of their food. The menu by the check out counter is sorted/categorized by the types of food you want--very easy to read and find what you want. The soy sauce and sriracha bottles on each table are very clean and not sticky like some other places. Service was good and quick. Many brought their kids here.
