I had ordered pick up through the door dash app. Ordering pick up means I intend to pick up my order myself. I had called this place of business to check the status of my order, as it had not updated on door dashes system. Instead of actually listening to my inquiry, I was rudely interrupted and then hung up on. Needless to say that order was canceled, expeditiously. A word of advice. Listen to your customers and perhaps don't assume you know what they are going to ask. Snarfs is a solid sandwich shop that checks a lot of boxes in my book. They serve cold cuts, they offer a variety of options (whether on or "off" the menu), as well as different sizes. I ordered my sandwich and was taken back that it would take 20 minutes to make, but thats me thinking Im the only customer on a sunday afternoon.I ended up with the pastrami and swiss, everything on it, including avocado and bacon. Im a little annoyed that they forgot my avocado, but I was already an hour away from the store and wasnt planning on going back. The sandwiches are beautiful. I could gaze at them lovingly all day as I cracked one open. I will admit its not an orgasmic sandwich, but its still pretty damn good. I could taste every ingredient, with the mayo, mustard, bacon, and pastrami standing out the most. The bread had a slight crunch but was still pleasantly soft. Loved Snarf's! I'd driven by many times but hadn't stopped in until recently. Sandwiches are made after you oder (not down an assembly line like Subway) and can be toasted or not. They tasted pretty good (reminded me a bit of Quiznos) but had great ingredients and friendly staff. I loved that they had Zapp's chips (try the Voodoo flavor!) and Mexican Coke in bottles. Baked good desserts were available and look delicious, though I didn't try them. The shop itself had a very collegiate feel, kind of like you'd expect to find it near UT's campus. I drive by the location on s first every day on the way to and from work during the week. I stop for breakfast and for a snack sometimes on the way home. So the soup is cheap and delish and grilled cheeses are on point. I'm not sure how many of y'all have been to Firehouse subs - it's kind of a love it or hate it place with nothing in between; same deal with Potbelly sandwiches. I love firehouse and don't love potbelly. That's where Snarf's comes in. Snarf's IMHO is a cross between the two chains i mention above. It's go the hot toasty sandwiches, with the kind of toppings (hellooo peppers) that potbelly has and voila- you have a perfectly good hot sandwich.. Imagine this (insert picture of buzz light year here) - contents like portobello and cheese / avocado and hummus with an array of toppings like mayo, onion, mustard, peppers.. all sitting inside the most amazing piece of bread , warm and toasty in a 7 or 12 inch sub / sandwich with the additional perks of fast service and plenty of seating WITH PARKING. for those of us who work in the area this is a welcome change from the usual set of restaurants. I am happy to patronize a bricks & mortar place that offers lively music, air conditioning, rest rooms, and clean tables. There are a bunch of tables outside to sit at and a dog bowl of water in case you want to hang out with your dog. Affordable and delicious salads & sandwiches quickly prepared in the, oh so tony, neighborhood of "SoFi." My favorite is the Greek Salad with chickpeas, kalamata olives, artichoke hearts, onions and feta. I am attending a class at TXU in Austin and the Thompson Conference Center cafe which at lowest level had a lunch line lined up the stairs ........sooo I found this gem on Yelp which is across the street from the center. Very average run of the mill sandwich shop. We really wanted to like this place more but it's really no better than Thundercloud and a few notches below Jimmy John's IMO. It's very similar to Quizno's with their toasted bread. You don't get a ton of meat in the sandwiches and the meat quality itself is just pretty bleh. The pickled peppers are really sour and overpower the taste of the sandwich. We also had a BOGO coupon so hard to complain about the cost but I don't think I'd be back to pay full price. Ugh! Missing a whole sandwich and bag of chips on our pickup/togo order!? Isn't anyone checking these things? When we called to ask what our options were, they said the only option was to come back to the store (even though we were somehow able to pay online, but not be refunded online?). This national chain does cold subs okay (at best). It's the hot subs that set a sandwich shop apart, and the hot subs here are rather pathetic and badly overpriced. I've tried the meatball, french dip, and eggplant parmesan. All were bland, compressed, ten dollar (for a 7"!) bricks of sadness. Check out the photo below. They seem to use the same kind of weird chewy flattened bread that Quiznos uses. You're better off at these prices ordering from Home Slice three blocks away, or paying half for somewhat better sandwiches at Thundercloud. The first two times I had Snarf's it was via Favor delivery. The sandwiches themselves are delicious and I appreciate their GF options so this evening I went in to pick up dinner for my husband and I. I walked in and went straight up to the counter as there were no other customers there. There was an employee (probably on her break) eating at a nearby table but no one else in sight. When I got to the counter the employee behind the register did not look up or acknowledge my presence for a solid 3 minute period- it was really weird. Usually when you walk into an empty restaurant (or rather, any restaurant!) they greet you and make you feel welcome. I shrugged it off and went on with my order once the employee finally acknowledged my existence. I waited about 20 minutes for two sandwiches which is a little over the top to me. I know it doesn't take them 20 minutes to make a sandwich (which I saw they claimed in a rebuttal to another review) because another customer came in 10 minutes after me and left right behind me with her order. Anyway, It appeared to me like the employee who took my order was in training because no sandwich making started until the employee who had been on her break came back to help. There was another employee (a guy) who also did not acknowledge me and was laughing and joking around the entire time. Overall, an F in customer service and a B+ in food. I saw a couple of other reviews from months back with the same experience so they obviously don't care to improve their customer service or speed. I got there at 7:59p and the doors were locked. I knocked, seeing that there was a to-go bag sitting in the pick-up counter area. This rating is for the overall restaurant. Let me start by saying the sandwiches are just okay. Something different than Thunderclouds and Jimmy Johns, but really nothing spectacular. The first 2 times I went, I went inside and ordered in person, both times the person behind the counter took literally at least 5 minutes to acknowledge someone was there. I know what you're thinking, "you really couldn't wait over 5 minutes?!". Well I'd be fine waiting if there was a reason for it. There was maybe 1 person already eating at a table, but no one in line. And the person behind the register seemed to be doing nothing more than messing around on their phone. I thought to myself "the only reason I've come to Snarfs multiple times is because its convenient, and hopefully the slowness is just growing pains". Well so come the next time, I figure I'll just order online so I don't have to deal with the wait time. So I place an online order when I'm about 15 - 20 minutes away. I get to the store and AGAIN have to wait nearly 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge their are customers there (there was a lady already in front of me waiting at the counter that had not been acknowledge or helped yet). Then today I was in the area and figured I'd give it another shot. Surely by now they'd worked out the kinks and trained their workers to be more customer oriented. NOPE. I placed an online order in when I was just over 15 minutes out. I get to the store and they hadn't even begun to make the sandwich yet. Big time Millennial attitude issues here, very loud music playing in the background so the staff cant hear you. God forbid you lower your mask to try to call out your order. You'd think you had shot someone from their over animated reaction threating to call the police and demanding I leave. Frankly I'm disappointed to write this review because I actually like the sandwiches from snarfs a lot but the attitude of the employees in this place is crazy. I come every week or so and although not currently the most inviting setup (covid related precautions), which I completely understand, I like the food. Generally when my wife and I have come in the staff had allowed us to use the restroom despite the fact that it appears they are closed. However this time when my wife walked back to use the restroom while waiting for our food one of the staff came around the sandwich bar and started berating her. Being surprised she replied by saying that she was a customer and that is why she walked to the restroom as she had been allowed before. He continued to yell at her until she left and he triumphantly walked back behind the counter bragging about how he told her off. Look neither my wife or I could care less about whether a bathroom is open or not. We'll happily accept and support whatever efforts local businesses are making to ensure the safety of their guests. That being said I can't imagine what person would think it's acceptable for an employee to yell and berate a young woman or frankly anyone as an initial attempt at communication. It is frustrating. I tried to communicate with both the manager and the general manager about the situation but both seemed pretty uninterested in the situation. Initially the manager on duty said 'well some customers that don't want to wear masks come in here and yell at us', some bizarre logic of some people are jerks so it's okay if we treat your wife the same way. I like a great sandwich as much as anyone else but I care more about how my partner or anyone else for that matter should be treated like a human being. read more

Unless you want Provolone, American or Swiss for cheese, you are out of luck. I ordered the small brisket. A few minutes later, I get my sandwich. The bread is good. The brisket is tasty. The sauce was a bit much. I had worried about the Swiss cheese, as I am not a big fan. The sandwich was good. I am not sure it was worth the almost $15 price. "Cheap Eats" this place is not. Oh my gawd, this place is so delicious!! The bread is crispy and thin. It's just right. The sandwiches are large for the cost, for Austin. They have their own signature hot pepper mix. Well, this is Texas, so, they aren't hot, medium at best, but incredibly delicious. They sell jars of them and I got one and have been making the most insane sandwiches at work. I'm for sure giving out bottles of Snarf hot peppers for Christmas. They have a mix of veggies in them. You just have to try them to understand how incredibly good they are. Also, the soups are very good. I'm a real soup junkie and critic, so I do not give out good soup scores for anything sub par. The Gouda Red Pepper Bisque and Bean and Beef Chili are worth the trip to either location. The salads are excellent. The sesame shitake dressing is incredible. They must make the dressing in house.
