This is by far the best place to get a sandwich in Boulder, Colorado. Whenever I have friends in town visiting, Snarf's on Pearl is always on the itinerary. They have loads of different sandwich options (including veggie-friendly ones), lots of room inside (which is an improvement on their previous Pearl St. location) and a very relaxed atmosphere. The staff is friendly and extremely laid back. Other reviewers have characterized this as "acting high." I disagree with that. I love the tone and mood of Snarf's, almost as much as I love the food. Ah, Snarf's. Hot summer days after skateboarding around the town, on summer break with not a care in the world. Man I loved growing up in this town. Wow, memories. Anyway, Snarf's is hands down the best sandwich in Boulder if not the entire state of Colorado and this comes from a self proclaimed sandwich expert. I can safely say I have had sandwich on the menu as of a week ago when I tried the prime rib. Epic I tell you, epic! I really do miss the old joint, with it's cramped entry way you were bound to make some friends waiting out there since there was always a line. I like the Peal location best because I do believe they make the best sandwiches, but it can get really busy still. Caveat: This was not a recent experience as Snarf's, so maybe things have changed. That being said, the place was dirty. I didn't want to even sit down. I felt the need to watch my sandwich like a hawk to ensure there was always a nice sterile food packaging barrier between it and the rest of the kitchen...preferably latex. The bread? Dry. Kind of like when you get a Subway sub toasted, and they toast it in 4 seconds and it comes out like a lightweight version of a brick that is so brittle that it falls apart when you bite into it. I had my first of many visits to Snarf's yesterday. I am usually more of a chicken salad, or turkey and bacon with avocado kinda girl, but I decided to go for their most popular sandwich....the Italian. I wanted to full experience, but I do not enjoy my mouth being burned, so I got everything but the hot peppers on it. I was SO GOOD!!! I highly recommend Snarf's and I recommend getting there early. We were there around 11am and by the time we finished eating people were lining up for our table. I was also happy to see that when I put in "Snarf's" in order to type up my review it brought one up just a few miles from my house. After reading the mixed reviews I wasn't quite sure what to expect but did come in with slightly lower expectations not buying into a lot of the hype. Bottom-line is that this is a good higher quality sandwich than you will get from a chain store where you will wait a little longer and pay a little more but is worth it if you can afford the extra time and money once in a while. I had the italian with everything and was not disappointed. Great flavor and amazing, crunchy / fresh bread, good quality ingredients. Mr. Pibb was running out of syrup and Cherry Coke was completely out but definitely not a deal breaker. Service was streamlined to try increase efficiency so you may feel like just a number but felt like wait time was sufficient given the steady flux of customers coming in and out. Seating is a little awkward with a few tables in the center and a bar seating around the smaller restaurant with the line that files right through everybody. To skip the wait that other yelpers seems so upset about, make sure to use the Snarf's App to order and pay from your phone. Problem solved. We hopped over to Snarf's for a few sandwiches while wandering around Boulder, it was a really good sandwich place and I really enjoyed it, we got there at around 11:30 on a Sunday, the place was packed by noon though, so go early. I ordered the Turkey & Swiss and added avocado to it and lettuce and tomato. When my order was called, they had given me a turkey sandwich with no avocado, lettuce, peppers and onions. I told them about the mixup and they apologized and immediately remade my sandwich, they also said I could just keep the wrong sandwich since they would have to just throw it away anyway. That was really nice of them, I know you can't re-serve food once it had been to a customer and returned, but most places usually take it back from you anyway just to throw it away. I received the correct sandwich pretty quickly considering how busy they were and it was really tasty, not a lot of turkey on it though, but overall a really good sandwich. I wish they'd let you double your meat on your sandwich for an extra buck or so. My boyfriend had the steak sandwich with lettuce and tomato. His sandwich was awesome, it was pretty much something along the lines of a strip steak on a hoagie, it was really good and the steak was really tender and juicy. My go-to sandwich: The novice vegetarian. I love that there are big slices of avocado included. I love the perfectly toasted, chewy bread. I love all of the fresh veggies that are also included. When a coworker took me for my first Snarf's experience, I was skeptical. "Really? The make the BEST sandwich in Boulder? Unlikely!" But I've found that it's true; Snarf's has the best sandwiches in the area. I take most out-of-town guests there for lunch and it never disappoints. The things that tend to take away from the experience: loud music, sparse seating, and limited parking (I've never not been able to find a spot within a block or two though). Regarding the loud music, sometimes it's not so bad. But other times it is so loud that I feel like being "that lady" who asks the "kids" to turn the music down because I can't hear myself think! My friend raved about this place so I thought I'd give it a try. He warned me that it was going to be "dirty," so I was prepared. While it is "dirtier" than Subway (it looked pretty run down, they had paper signs that they scribbled on, etc) , I think their sandwiches are better tasting than Subway. We shared a Novice Italian sub and it was good. One thing that I couldn't tell if it offended me or was funny was a handmade sign that said they will charge 10% gratuity for helping people on their cell phones. Hm. read more

Snarf's is the best submarine/sandwich place in Boulder, and I've eaten at them all. Their bread is the best, and they toast their sandwiches just right so there are still hot and cold ingredients (remember the old McDLT?) and it doesn't turn to mush like so many places. They also have a huge menu, tons of drink selections, and ice cream shakes that are yummy and possibly the cheapest in town. Still, they have room for improvement, since Firehouse Subs is still the only place where I can find sauteed onions to put on a sandwich. Also, Snarf's desperately needs bicycle parking. Ordered online to save time by not having to go into the restaurant and paid-up front. They said our sandwiches would be ready at 12:15. I arrived at 12:20 and no sandwiches. Waited until 12:30 and went in to see what was going one. A guy in the back making it said it would be out in 8 minutes. In the meantime, people were coming in and ordering at the front counter and their orders got filled. It was getting to be 12:45 and I was going in to get my money back and then that's when my sandwiches were done. Don't get me wrong-- I LOVE Snarf's sandwiches. My favorite is the roast beef and provolone. However, I'm only giving them 3 stars because of their delivery service. Working at a store that is open quite late, most of us take our "lunch" breaks at about 7 or 8. If there is the least bit of snow on the ground, they won't deliver. While some may agree with this saying, "No one should risk their life simply to do their job," I say, "The majority of those who work here drove on the roads just fine, and most of us from Broomfield." They literally wouldn't deliver for about 2 weeks. And when they do deliver, it's not uncommon for it to take about an hour. I guess maybe they're busy, but if they quote "45 minutes" on the phone, it should take 45 minutes or less. It also seems that there is a high turnover of employees, not necessarily a bad thing. But there have been times I call in my order and end up walking the other person through how to record my information. All in all, the food is fantastic. If you walk in the store, you will not be disappointed. Your food will be warm, you won't have to wait an hour for it. But if you need food delivered, try calling the Arapahoe store. read more

Snarf Is Not Just From Thundercats! Good sandwiches can be found here. It is a little bit more $$$ than Subway, but you will understand once you bite into your freshly made sandwich. My 7" meatball sandwich ran me about $8, however, it was almost sandwich perfection! My wheat bread was crusty, in a good way LOL, after they toasted it. The meatball filling was savory, herby, slightly acidic with the tomato sauce, but not a big mess either! Just enough sauce to satisfy!!!! The meatballs themselves were tender and flavorful! My only complaint was that they were a little on the tiny side...Who likes small balls?! Not this guy! No way! Ewww...Bwahaha! ;D Make those balls bigger!!! But the sandwich was big enough for two meals. Loved this sandwich with the spicy peppers! There was a relaxed environment to Snarf's which I liked. We stopped here on the way to Rocky Mountain National Park and I'm so glad we stopped. I wish there was a sandwich place like this in Houston. They have a ton of different meat options, they have hot peppers (like Potbelly's), AND, they have horseradish sauce (Arby's!). I had the roast beef and provolone and the husband had the prime rib and provolone. Both were delicious! Especially with the hot peppers & horseradish sauce 1-2 punch combo. The place and the people were cool -- reminded me a lot of Austin, TX. Actually the whole city reminded me of Austin. And that was just from driving through. Super-friendly folks take my order quickly (Vegetarian Provolone/Avocado w/ FF Mayo & the works, on toasted bread). In less than 20 min., the 12-inch is here (along with a super-friendly smiling face to deliver the food). Oh. my. goodness. wow. How do I begin to describe this experience? This is what comes to mind: 1) the sandw(h)ich you hope never ends; 2) like, never-ever; 3) ever. One of the best sandwiches I've had all year (and I like me my good sammiches)! when snarf's first came into my life, it was on the north side of pearl in a trailer. my boyfriend and my brother both worked there, and i'd inevitably be at snarf's 4 or 5 times a week to pick one or both of them up from work. i was happy to do the favor, as i would be handsomely rewarded with one of the tastiest grilled cheese sandwiches in the world. once in a while, i would change it up and get some spinach in it, maybe tomatoes, mustard if i was feeling frisky. those were the good(?) old days when they kept meat in gross buckets, the fly paper was long-since filled up, and mopping consisted of pushing around some paper towels with their feet. though the place produced some tasty sandos, it was pretty gross. good thing i didn't eat the meat! now they have expanded their operation to multiple locations, cleaned up their act a bit, and generally have continued making some ridiculously good sandwiches. i get the basic veggie sando with the mushroom swiss melt on top along with some dressing. it's usually the highlight of a trip to broulder. read more

I reccommend any Snarf's location with one small warning: do not carelessly ask for "everything" on your sandwich without consideration because they will take you literally. Everything includes: mayo, mustard, hot peppers, onion, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, seasoning and oil. Prior to gaining this knowledge I placed a pick-up order for their eggplant sandwich and Snarf's asked me if I wanted "everything" on it and I said "sure." Shredded lettuce and mayo on a hot eggplant sandwich is disgusting and violates the common sense of taste. Just imagining shredded iceberg lettuce after it's been warmed makes me want to barf. No vegan sandwiches on the menu, so I asked if I could create my own sandwich with grilled portobellos, artichokes, hot peppers, onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles, s&p, and oil. The counter guy was nice enough about my special request. My husband ordered the same thing with their in-house made dressing, Sesame Shitaki (very impressive). He even let my husband try it before he committed to the sauce...very nice gesture. We thought the sandwiches were great, except they had accidentally added provolone cheese to our excellent veggie mix. Luckily, it was melted to the bread and not the veggies, so I was able to take my cheese off easily enough. So good...though I've had better sandwiches in Boulder.
