Richard and Jonathon were great and really helped us to get the best prices and dates for the excursions we wanted to do. Was super impressed with this place. Excellent service! I've never been to a snorkel rental place where they go out of their way to sit you down and actually size the masks and fins to fit properly. The gear was all very clean and in great condition. They also explain their cleaning process which I appreciated. I usually have my own mask but didn't on this trip so I'm always a little weird about renting masks. The guy was very nice and took the time to answer our questions. He gave us a map of the area as well as some local tips. The prices are very reasonable and I LOVE the blue soft fins they use. So comfortable in the water. This is our second time renting from Snorkel Bob's on the islands and the process was as smooth as we remembered it. You go in, and each person gets fitted for mask and fins, paperwork is signed and you're out of there in less than 15 minutes with the most comfortable snorkel gear I've ever used! We love that you can return at any Snorkel Bob locations on any island. We rented in Kapa'a and returned our gear in Poipu. Soooo convenient, plus they have drop boxes where you can leave them after hours. They are open from 8-5am every day. They include a bottle of the de-fogging liquid in case you need to use it. We never have had an issue with the gear, and we snorkeled almost every day! We're definitely going to rent from Snorkel Bobs when we go to the Big Island! read more

I wish I could give this place 6 stars. My original reservation had an error in it that had me renting equipment for 3 weeks instead of 1 and Connie who I communicated with via email changed it for me almost immediately. There was another error that I didn't catch until I went to pick up my scuba equipment. I thought I had request the location for Kapa'a and not Kaloa. We went into this location and Melissa helped us out, assuring us it wasn't a problem. I booked two budget specials since they were such an incredible price. I am near-sighted and while they have RX goggles, i wasn't sure if it was worth it because of the price difference. Melissa talked me in to getting RX goggles. You don't need to know your prescription because they have varying degrees of strength that will get you within the ballpark. I'm really glad I did because they were worth the price. I love how they just don't send you on your way as well when you pick up your equipment. They make sure the fins and goggles fit you well and you can always stop back in if something doesn't work, which we did. Melissa also gave us an extra turtle beach bag because of Mother's Day, which can normally be purchase for $5. We stopped by again because we wanted to book a snorkeling boat excursion, which I recommend doing through them. The male employee (I'm blanking on his name) was also extremely helpful (and slightly sarcastic in the best way). He helped us book a tour (which unfortunately was canceled due to wind and wave strength) and swapped out my goggles which hadn't been locking correctly. Finally, if you go to this location you will most likely be greeted by a very friendly but slightly spoiled pupper that will let you know when you can stop petting him. read more

He helped us find the right snorkel gear for our comfort and it was a great price. He also gave us real aloe Vera for our sunburns. this review is ONLY for the customer service, not for the prices. the prices are definitely NOT as advertised, nor did i get everything with the snorkel package price that was advertised in SEVERAL different magazines throughout the island. however, the woman at the kapaa location on 1/4/2011 was extremely helpful and friendly and nice, even though there were two other male employees who did not seem very inclined to come out and help or talk while we were there. the woman who was there was funny, accomodating and extremely informative. unfortunately, i didn't get her name. she was great: she gave enough information for me to want to spend more money without seeming like she was trying to sell me something i didn't want or need. although the service was great, i really do wish i had brought my own snorkel gear like i usually do. read more

Not the best or cheapest. $15 day for mask and snorkel rental. Pretty expensive when the next day we rented excellent equipment for $15/week with no attempt to upsell. ( at bobs they had a set for $11 per day but referred to them as inferior). read more

Pretty disappointed with the gear we rented. The first time my daughter put on her fins the back split open and would not stay on so my daughters first snorkeling experience became quite challenging. Also, the looky board we rented was very old, bordering on junk. We dropped the gear off in the convenient night drop but I was surprised to see another charge on my credit card without any explanation or call or email....will not be going back, theres another rental shop next door. read more

Went in to grab snorkel gear ended up with great deal on helicopter tour. Fins and snorkels were simple a D quality. Week rental was super cheap. Booked a tour right there and saved at least $120 for our trip. Super easy drop off after hours of the gear. Kapa'a snorkel Bob's is our spot for sure. read more

The guy was really friendly and patience with us being we have 5 curious boys. He offered kamaaina discount and even sold us a used child snorkeling set for a decent price. He also gave the other boys a piece to hold the snorkel to the mask for free. Awesome customer service. read more

Rich was working when we went in to get snorkel gear. He was amazingly helpful, and provided us with a map of great places to snorkel. The gear fit really well and we had a wonderful experience. Trying to find activities online was confusing. Asked Rich for advice and he signed us up for amazing experiences. Every activity he recommended was a winner and my family was thrilled. Trying to please teenagers can be tricky, and they were so happy with everything we did. I was so appreciative for his advice. So it looks like a little house from the outside. Didn't know what to expect. The owner Richard super nice guy and very helpful. Plus they have an adorable friendly dog inside too. he recommended a sea turtle tour which was amazing! My son and mom had a blast! The gear we rented we had an issue with the snorkel I went back boom exchanged for a new one in less than 2 min. All in all this place was great, they guy is knowledgeable and even though it's a bit pricy ( but then everything is on the island) lithe service is spectacular and the quality is great. You also get a map with all the fish you can see along with a map to the best snorkel spots. Since I'm pregnant and have my son he gave us tips which places would be best for us. Definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for tours and to rent gear! read more

We were there 5 minutes before open as we got in the store the worker asked me to see my sunglasses if they had any prescription but I was very paranoid about let some handle my glasses so because I didn't let him see my glasses he asked me to leave the store. Let me say the owner tried to accommodate the best he could by finding something that would fit my schedule. We went in mid week and wish I would have went from the start. He knew the best and local places to go. Set us up with a local cruise that was wonderful. Best part was he offered snorkel for free after booking. Easy to rent from, very helpful on makin sure everything fit right. We rented snorkel gear for the day, and they told us we had it for 24 hours so we could keep it overnight, or return it after hours in their return slot. Came in looking for fish food about a week ago, the older gentleman at the desk was very rude. He snapped at me and said "we don't sell fish food, we don't kill our fish here!!". He then turned around and ignored me, a simple no would have been just fine.... I went next door and was amazed at the wonderful customer service at Boss Frogs, even though they do not sell fish food either (Don't feed the fish!).
