Came the first time for gelx and they were ok. 3 different people worked on my nails that day. It was a mess. But only one person, I am assuming the owner, in the salon speaks for all the workers so whatever I had asked for to one worker was forgotten. One would think I learned my lesson and not go back, well I did and boy do I regret it. I asked to get my nails done and since they had done the gelx I thought they knew what to do. Not so. They removed my gelx and gave me "hard gel" nails. They look like a bumpy mess. I wish they would have told me that's what would happen but since no one except one worker speaks English I didn't get many options. Honestly, all the ladies are so nice and so sweet!! My nails just weren't done very well and I'm too much of a people pleaser to ask for too many corrections. I got gel x and the amount of glue underneath the tip is so thick that I can't even reach underneath to clean out my natural nails. I don't think I've ever had that much glue put on. You can tell from the front how thick the glue is underneath too. I also asked for almond and she didn't really take the time to shape them out bc the tips are still square like how it comes. Otherwise, my nails are cute and you can't really beat the price which is why this review is 2 stars instead of 1. The ambiance is nice and the ladies were all very sweet which is why I felt so bad not giving the greatest review but I did ask for multiple corrections and I didn't want to ask anymore. A woman on the phone stated the La Canada location does not have online appointments and hung up. I added screenshots of my online appointment. Please avoid this place like the plague!! The price is not worth the pain. Was nicked twice during my service and the nail technician sanded my fingers along with my nail to the point I'm peeling back a layer of skin and my fingertips still sting like a paper cut. Not to mention this is the worst paint job on a manicure I have ever had including ones I have given myself. I had to guide the nail tech through painting them as she was trying to move on with 1/3 of my pinky nail bare of color. Even with the extra help there are still strips on the side of the nail without color and the polish is far from the cuticle and uneven. The lady doing my nails filed them crooked and when I asked her to please file them straight, she immediately took a deep breath in frustration and took the file and did only one brush of file. I asked to please let me have the file, so she handed it to me and walked off. Mind you, this was the first request I had. I was totally quiet prior to this. The owner came and continued and said ombré only works for long nails. I politely showed her a photo of the ombré nails with pink base and white tip I have had many times. She proceeded to do a light white and clear look, and so I politely said will you please add more pink like the photo I showed you. She gave me a look of irritation and said this is ombré, if I wipe off, you still pay. Needless to say, I was totally shocked and asked why she was being so rude?? She said she's not rude. Awful awful service! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw my pedicure. A man did my pedi and the nail on my big toe was very obviously crooked! It was terrible. I popped in at the last minute, and they were able to accommodate me, which is always appreciated. Sadly, they didn't do a good job. Loads of glue build-up, my nails started to separate within a week, and 14 days later, they just started popping off. My experience with GEL X is that they last 3-4 weeks. Not only was it very strong smelling when we came in, but my tech messed up my nails a few times and seemed irritated when I asked her to fix the spots. I have had many less than perfect manicures from here, btw. To top it off, when I asked if I could use a credit card, she proceeded to charge me $59 instead of $50--- $9 more for using a credit card. I went to this nail salon for the first time. I checked to see if they did Gel-X nail work and they said 'yes'. She rushed to do my nails. My finger nails felt so heavy and then noticed that she left all the gel under my nails. I then told her that it needed to be removed and her excuse was that it was done that way so that water would not go in. I told her that I had them done in the past, and they were never left this way! She then rushed to get it off my nails and still left them bad. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU WANT GOOD SERVICE. We have been customers of this location and the one in San Marino for over ten years. I stopped going during the pandemic because the owner wasn't very nice and outright rude at times. This was not my experience in the past prior to that. Recently may daughter wanted a design for her upcoming trip. After calling a few places that said they couldn't do a design we decided to give Soak another try. We knew the owner did great designs. My best friend, daughter, and I all decided to go have a spa day. From the beginning the owner was not only rude to my best friend as she did her nails but when it was time to do the design on my daughter's nails she was rude and commented that her eyelashes were thin. She is 15! What grown woman would say such a thing and to a teenager? Then it was my turn to get the brunt of her wrath. I went to pay with my credit card as usual and without looking at me pointed her finger above a rudely said "no credit cards". She said I had to pay with Venmo or cash. No problem I thought as I had cash. I asked nicely why they didn't accept credit cards anymore and she said it has been like that for years. Annoyed she didn't actually respond to my question I proceeded to pay with cash. I asked for a receipt and that's when all hell broke out. She was angry that I asked for receipt and kept repeating the total. I wasn't questioning the total as I just wanted an itemized receipt. She then had one of her workers write down the prices for each service we had on a card. I had no intention of tipping her after her disgusting behavior throughout our visit. However, when I went to give her workers their tip he innocently said "What about her?" as he pointed at the owner. At that point I joked around and said that she was the owner and profits from the business so I wasn't giving her a tip. I could see the anger on her face and she said "Oh really... okay, okay". I then proceeded to give the worker some money and said "This is for her" and walked out. As the three of us walked out we decided to never go there again even if she does really good designs. Find another nail shop! I SO wish I checked yelp reviews before going. I stopped here as a last minute option for a full set and pedicure. Worst decision I could have made. I told the nail tech from the beginning that the shape of the nails was off, but she insisted that it would even out as she applied the powder. It didn't. She also didn't have me wash my hands after applying, filing, and shaping the powder. She just applied oil and kept working. I showed her a picture of the design I wanted, to which she said she could do. The initial design I wanted is not pictured because I made her remove it as it was uneven, sloppy, and not even close to what I asked for. What is pictured was the compromise, but as pictured, it is still sloppy and uneven. And this was after I had to argue with her to get her to correct the uneven, faded lines in the design. I get my nails done regularly, so I know what the standard is, and this was not it. I paid $100 for the full set and $48 for the pedicure (which was fine. Not great, not bad. Just a basic pedicure). The nail tech became upset when I questioned the price breakdown, and insisted that at that rate, she at least correct and improve on the modified design. I don't have a problem paying for services rendered, but at that price point I expected a much higher quality of service delivery. I was livid by the end of this experience. read more

TLDR; used to be a regular customer till a new nail tech wouldn't listen to me when I said I wanted her to remove my old polish before applying the new one and I ended up with a nasty bacterial infection because of it (see photo). I used to come every 2 weeks for an SNS manicure (like gel, but powder). The most recent time I went, I was with a girl I'd never seen before (I didn't catch her name) and it was immediately apparent she had never done an SNS manicure. She kept picking up the different bottles, reading them, setting them back down and deliberating what to do before asking for help. It was frustrating but I didn't say anything until she tried to start applying the color without taking my old base layer off all the way. I stopped her and said "excuse me but can you take the rest of the base off, usually it gets completely removed before the new color." She looked to Yvonne who came over and told me it's fine to leave the base on, that way you don't need to put on a new base. This pissed me off because every other time I've come in they've taken the base off and it seemed unhygienic to leave remnants of it on, but I didn't want to argue so I left it alone. She applied the color on the bits of old base, then more base on top. The top was a chunky mess beneath the old base and messy powder. She applied the gel coat, I paid, and left extremely upset as my nails looked awful. I knew I wasn't coming back. So today I bought some nail polish and acetone to remove my botched SNS nails and just paint them myself. You can imagine my surprise (and disgust) when upon removing the color I found A NASTY BACTERIAL INFECTION!!! I've never seen this before so I did some research and it can occur when your nail tech uses dirty tools or doesn't follow health protocol. I'm beyond upset and highly recommend you find a new salon that has better hygiene practices. read more

I got three things done, first the nails I showed her the design and it was completely off (refer to it in the pics) totally different and one of my nails has a dip in the middle of it. Second thing was my eyebrows waxed and there are still a good amount of hairs around them as well as burns from the wax. I've been to Soak multiple times and they always do a good job! I normally don't write reviews but after reading some of the negative ones for Soak Nail Bar I wanted to contribute to the positive reviews! I've gotten acrylics done there once before, a few gel manicures, and multiple pedicures and I've always been happy with my service! They have lots of colors and designs to choose from and their prices are very reasonable. I go with my mom all the time- she's picky about where she gets a pedicure but she's loves getting her toes done at Soak! One thing I appreciate about Soak is that they will always try to fit you into their schedule, so if you ever call or walk in asking for an appointment and they say no, just know that it must mean they truly are booked solid. Then when I was going to use my credit card the owner wanted to charge me $6 more. The owner was rude and lowered her mask and yelled at one of her employees in front of me. But after last weekend I am never going back, and I STRONGLY discourage anyone else from coming here. After my manicure the nail bed of one of my fingers was hurting, I thought maybe the girl who did my manicure just over picked my cuticles and brushed it off. The pain began to get worse and the nail bed became very red and irritated looking. After a couple days I realized something was wrong because it was so painful to touch anything with that finger even lightly. So I went to urgent care and found out I had gotten a bacterial infection from this place! I've been getting my nails done regularly for 10 years and this has NEVER happened to me before. I'm so grossed out to think that USED/DIRTY tools were used on me at a place that LOOKS so nice and clean. Now I'm on antibiotics and they had to open up the tip of my finger to drain it. So fun!
