If you care about the condition of your paint on your car. Do not utilize Soapy Joes or any other drive thru car wash. I had a membership here for about 4 months with a brand new car with a brand new paint job. Car was garage kept and rarely was used. After going to soapy joes car wash because of how easy it was to get my car cleaned. I began noticing their machines were scratching my paint as well as leaving swirl marks all over the car. So I reported it to the manager at this establishment,I contacted their Department for fixing this and they stated and I quote "We are not liable for already existing damage to your car". Their machines WILL damage your cars paint over time and they will NOT fix it. This car Is Brand new and have never been in an accident or side swiped. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra time cleaning it at a do it yourself car wash Completely unacceptable and I give fair warning to whoever may consider soapy joes.although it may seem like a good idea to go thru a drive thru car wash, you're cars paint will be damaged substantially with this place. read more

I'm sorry I really wish I could give more stars but the quality of service has dramatically dropped. I use to rave about Soapy Joes! Today was the last straw. My car got pretty dirty over the past couple of weeks with the rain and some traveling. I went through the Average Joe car wash (like always) and when I went to dry it off and vacuum and not only was there no open bays, but also I had to look in several bays for clean rags. Then to top it off I had several very dirty spots along the side of my car and the whole back of my car was not even touched so it was still filthy. I brought it to the attention of the attendant and all he offered was another wash but that would remedy the situation. Obviously the car wash does not wash the whole vehicle. They use to scrub down the back of the car as it begins going through the wash but now it's a little spray thing that doesn't do anything. Soapy Joes please add quality to your service - not just raise the prices! read more

What I love about Soapy Joe's San Marcos. EVERYTHING. It's an awesome place for a quick wash, with free towels and free vacuum. I bought a year pass so I can go whenever I need a wash. So cheap! I get an air freshener every time I come too. You literally have to go 3 times a month to be worth it, and I'd say I go almost 3 times a week. This location is way faster than RB. It's bigger, they offer more spots to vacuum, and you don't see a bunch of free-loaders coming in to use the vacuums. It's a bummer when you come out of the wash and there's no spots available to wipe down your car because someone decided to come in and use the vacuums (RB). read more

I'm not big on washing my car since it's so time consuming so I always put it off. It had been awhile and my car was looking filthy and with no chance of rain in the forecast I decided to give Soapy Joe's a try. You drive up and pay at the machine where there are many service level options. I chose the basic $7 wash. You can add on air freshener and special microfiber drying towels for an extra cost ($2). An employee guides you into the car wash where your car is on belt and you move through the wash. After you get to the dryer, you can pull your car into a stall and vacuum and dry your car. If you don't upgrade to microfiber towels, they do still have bins of complimentary towels at each station to dry your car and wipe down the inside of your car. It was pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon, but I was in and out and left with shiny car. It was so easy and inexpensive that I won't drag my feet anymore to wash my car. They made it hassle free! Super great and easy simple car wash in San Marcos. Make sure you come and dirty your car up really good... like I mean make sure your car reads some filthy magazines too because they do such an amazing job washing your car! Granted it's all done by a machine and then you do the rest once the car is done, but man, I could never get this when I'm at home washing my car myself. I think what's nice too is that the water is used and if it needs to sent back out, it is treated before heading back out into the world! Good place for a quick car wash, free towels, and free vacuum. The quality of the wash depends on the one you get. They have plans where you can go am unlimited amount and pay between $15-30/mo. If you pay for an annual pass, you get one month free. This will be worth it if you live close to one of the many Soapy Joes in SD or you are obsessed w keeping your car looking clean. The attendants working here will help you through the touch screen process. They guide you into the drive thru wash and then you are on your own after to hit up the vacuums and air compressors. In the end, my car is looking clean and I can go back whenever I want. You will eventually have to clean your windows yourself as well as wipe off your wheels from brake dust. read more

For the price it's pretty decent. It Can get crazy busy around 3-6... However if you in the morning like 10 am the weather is a bit cooler yet you dont have some one waiting for you to finish vacuuming your car. They supply towels to wipe excess water which is nice but that's hit or miss bec some times the towels are so damp but if you go to another bucket station u can get a a good dry one. They have an unlimited washes for 15 bucks a month, a reasonable buy if u wash ur car every week and the cheapest wash is 6 bucks. read more

I've been a long time customer at this place. I got all my cars detailed here frequently and the people know me there. I have experienced both the $5 cheap automatic car wash before and used their hand wash service and done full details there. Well here's the reason for the 1 star rating. These guys are not very good at all at cleaning and detailing a car. They are all about speed and turn-over. They want to get through as many cars as possible so they can maximize their profit, not build a loyal customer base. The person who takes your money for the details is a nice person but do not ever be up-sold. In addition, every time I go there to get my cars washed I would always drive home and find wax residual in all these places over the car. Unless you get the detail package, the machine wash is not very thorough and on darker colored cas, it WILL generate swirl marks and scratch your paint job. So unless you don't care about your paint job, don't get the $5 dollar wash. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAID. And in this case, that's not even true. I paid $250 for the $300 dollar detail that included the Teflon protectant they advertised to protect your car for 1,2,even 3 years. Well while watching them detail the car, I noticed that the stuff they were using was the same thing I had at home and when I questioned them about it, they said that was the Teflon. Second mistake was not knowing that the Teflon thing they offer is actually a SCAM. Teflon bonds to metal at a temperature of 750 degrees. The car paint would melt and come straight off at that temperature so there is no way for the Teflon to bond at all not to mention that's not the product you are really getting. This place and the owners should be ASHAMED to call this facility a detail facility. The attention to detail is the last thing they are worried about. I would recommend people who want to get their car detailed take their business elsewhere or to someone who actually who know what they are doing and can explain everything to you without sounding like they are trying to BS their way out of something they have no knowledge of. Soapy Joe, you have lost a long time loyal customer. I will be taking my business with Elite Finish Detailing who are mobile and much more attentive to detail. In addition, they are KNOWLEDGEABLE and HONEST and truly represent what a car "detail" should be. read more

The best five bucks I've ever spent.... and for $3 more, they will dress the tires... I read some of the other Yelp reviews and I think you guys are a little hard on this place... You have to compare this place to a gas station car wash, which runs you about $7/8 and you have to dry your own car and they don't dress the tires... Of course they are going to try to sell you the higher priced stuff, they can't stay in business if everyone did the $5 deal... Most people do the upgraded services once a month or a few times per year and rest of the times, the $5 car was is just fine... PS I drive an Escalade and have NEVER had it washed and dried for $5. Took my car there yesterday, needed to vacuum and get the exterior washed. Was expecting to drive up pay my ten dollars and just do it my self. Well I was pleasantly surprised when I drove up. I was greated by a wonderfully nice gentleman that proceeded to tell me about their special, a "mini detail" while I wait for just $20. They washed the car (super package that I was going to do anyways) shined the tires and wheels, vacuumed the entire car including trunk, cleaned and conditioned the dash and console, cleaned my windows inside and out, and did it all in ten minutes. This is everything that I would have done myself but why not let them do it! I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. Everyone I dealt with was very polite and accomodating. I've been here several times. You pay at machine, drive through the car wash and then park at the end to wipe off and vacuum the car yourself. I usually get the basic wash (used to be $5 but is now $6), great if your car isn't e also set extremely dirty with stuff caked on the car (you can upgrade the wash as needed). The bf sUsually gets the was above the basic. Definitely better than go to a self serve car wash. They also have happy hour from 6pm-8pm when the washes are about $1 or so off. Last week i went to get an oil change. I was greater by 2 friendly mechanics. One was Anthony, I didn't get the other's name. I just got a basic oil change (about $20) and it comes with a car wash. When I handed my keys to Anthony, I was embarrassed about how dirty my car was so I gave him a heads up about it (there's a lot of trees and birds where I live so there were a lot of droppings and because of the heat they get baked on). The manager saw my car and told me to see him after my oil change. My service was speedy. They informed and showed me that my filters needed to be changed and asked if I wanted to get it done at the time. I told them that I would next time, they were nice about it and not pushy. After the oil change, I went with the manager to get my free car wash. He said with how dirty my car was, the basic wash would not get it clean enough so he upgraded my car wash for free! That was so nice of him. I also got a breeze of green tea air freshened through my car which smells awesome. I would definitely get an oil change here again when I need to. The bf also just got the unlimited mouthy car wash (you can choose which wash you want, pay a one time fee and go as many times as you want during that month). We got the $20 one which is right above the basic wash (usually $10-$11/ wash) so even if only go twice a month, you break even. read more

Basic car wash here is better and longer than the other locations. Belt pulls the car through the wash, but this one actually stops for a few seconds at the start of the drying process so your car is actually dry when you finish. There are two rows for drying and self service vacuuming. People, each stand has two vacuums. Use the one closest to your car! It seems like people always grab the wrong one and we end up tangled. $15/month for their unlimited basic car wash is a pretty good deal. I subtract a star because the vacuums tend to break and whir, and because I wish they had something to wipe down dashboards with besides just damp rags. read more

First time I went to this place and I was quite impressed. For a drive through car wash, it was great. The fact that they have towels, air pressure dryers and vacuums for you to detail your car out on your own is even more awesome. I saw an employee walking around refilling and cleaning out the clean and used towel buckets, so they keep them stocked. I paid for the wash with the tire shine and I wasn't pleased with the shine on my tires. I asked the employee who stands at the front of the wash to guide you in, to assist me with my issue. His name was Justin and he was very helpful. He went in and got some tire shine and went to work on making my tires shine bright. I let him know I was thankful for his help and followed it up with a phone call to his manager. Too many times people write about the negative. We have to make sure we reward those for the positives too and this place was nothing but positives for me. Went to Soapy Joes for the first time! My car was filthy - I call it being eco friendly - but it was just out of control. I was driving around trying to find a Thai restaurant and found this gem and thought it's about time for a wash. It was fast, easy, and the attendant was helpful and energetic. I rolled down my window and yelled out "ready to see the dirtiest car here come out clean and shiny!" He just laughed and said "absolutely!" The tire rims weren't spotless but they never are unless I'm physically scrubbing, so I took the time to wipe the weird areas. #nobiggie Overall... Easy to dry and vacuum Convenient + Clean Facility Nice happy help There was a five minute wait which to me.. during peak hours is fast! Maneuvering through to find a space to vacuum and dry was not an issue, which usually is at the self-cleaning car wash place I used to go to in Oceanside.
