Tried to purchase a vehicle from this dealership from across the country. Response times were slow, which isn't that big of a deal by itself. The end result however, was not great. I scheduled a PPI with a local shop after some back and forth with Tom at SoCal. I tried to get a purchase agreement in place and place a deposit on the vehicle, but was told they don't take deposits. They said they would hold the vehicle once I had a plane ticket showing I was a serious buyer. Before the PPI was complete, I booked a non-refundable flight to hold the vehicle, but just over an hour before the inspection was to be completed, I received a call from Georgie (who is only there one day a week) saying that the vehicle was being sold at that moment. So here I am with a useless one-way ticket to LAX, and some serious contempt for the shady dealings of this dealership. Do yourself a favor, and shop anywhere but this circus tent of a dealership. Or, if you are set on a vehicle on this lot, just know that you are going to be dealing with a bunch of clowns. read more

Absolute worst experience buying a car. I bought a 2016 VW Tiguan from them about 2 months back and the car has been nothing but a lemon. They had supposedly done an oil change before I picked up the car. The first day driving it home, the oil sensor light comes on! So I call them and they tell me to take it to their mechanic. He supposedly changed the sensor and lo and behold, two weeks later, same issue. Next the right headlamp were not working. Again took it to their mechanic. Light worked for a week or so and went out again. They have horrible communication when you try to contact them. I became so frustrated I finally took it to my own mechanic. When he looked over the vehicle, the oil in the engine was like mud. THERE IS NO WAY THEY HAD CHANGED TO OIL. The car has an oil leak which needs to be fixed too. So far, above the price I paid for the car, I doled out over $1500 in basic repairs. My warning to anyone going here is beware. If I could rate them a negative, I would. read more

Bought a Lexus is250 from this dealer. No more than 24 hour later the check engine light came on. I called Tom and he said to bring it in. One of the employees said it was just a censor and they would fix it but they can't get the part right now so I had to call back. I have left numerous messages with no response. Turns out a gear in the engine is broken. (Cam shaft) so I basically bought a car from them that needs engine work. And they won't even call me back. At this point I have only had the car long enough to make one payment. And I already need to slap thousands of dollars to fix the car after being reassured there was no problems with the car. Almost if not all of their cars are sold "as is" so with that said if you chose to buy a car from them I highly recommend bringing a mechanic to inspect it so you don't get ripped off like I did. I trusted them since they had a 5 star review and were Carmax affiliates. Boy was I fooled Update, I had the check engine code checked by a professional. My wife and I just bought our second car from Dimitri and Dennis at SoCal Auto Group. Our experience was so good the first time that we literally didn't even look anywhere else before going back to them. The car was priced significantly lower then what it had been at Carmax. It was a great deal and we knew we weren't getting ripped off. The registration had just been done so that was a savings as well. Our first car by the way, hasn't had any problems at all. Not only is this the best place I've ever been to get a car, these guys are just really good people and we feel good about giving them our business. They even said they'd help us sell our old car that we were replacing. There's no way you'll find that somewhere else. As long as they're in business we'll never buy another car from anywhere else. I had been searching for my Mercedes for over 3 months when I ran into Socal Auto Group advertising on Craigslist. I dialed the number and schedule appt with Dimitri, who was very friendly on the phone and gave me step by step directions on how to get there. When I got there, Dimitri showed me the car, explained all the features and gave me a key for a test drive. He provided me with carfax and went over service records. I noticed right the way that Dimitri wasn't your typical pushy, cocky salesman. He gave suggestions, but allowed me to make decisions. He even suggested, I take this car to my mechanic for inspection. I setup another appt with him to take this car for inspection. I have never written a bad review, but this one I have to write to warn others I filled out the appointment request form online the night before. The next day, someone that works there called me to schedule an appointment l for that afternoon, so the appointment was set for 1:00PM. I came at that time and they said my appointments is non existent....? And they were doing appointment only. So the gentleman that works there said that I could check out the car, but his manner was strange. Usually people that works at dealerships would have a happy and a persuasive attitude where they want to nicely persuade you into buying a car. But nope, he wasn't having any of that at all. HELLO! you work at a dealership, it's in your interest to sell as many cars as possible. After I check the Audi S5 that I was interested in, i asked if I can test drive it, he then said: " are you buy it today". I'm was thinking in my head:" BRUH! how do I know if I'm buying it or not if I'm not sure that I like how it drive or it doesn't have any problemsi.". He then said: " If your not gonna buy it, then it'll be a waste of time test driving it. Because we have to clean it afterwards ". Come on man, why you gotta be lazy! If you want to sell anything, you have to be willing to work with the customer. I don't like the way they work at this dealership honestly, he doesn't care, the showroom looked pretty sad and they just make it worse by their way of presenting themselves to the customer. I get that with COVID, they have to be strict with sanitation and cleanliness, it's not the cleaning part after test driving that I don't like, but rather the way the salesman speak to me and the way they seemed to not care about the customer. I'm not a friend or a family member of this dealership. Just someone like you who saw an ad for a car I wanted, and reluctantly reached out to a random guy at a random used car lot located in a random part of a bad neighborhood. I know you're nervous about that, and so was I. But hear me out. There's a happy ending to this story. I called the number but got voicemail, and proceeded to txt back and forth with Tom, who set up an appt for me to see the car. His txts are very curt, to the point, and some might say off-putting or unpleasant. He immediately indicated there was no room for haggling and asked if I was paying cash. Needless to say this did not give me the warm and fuzzies, but I didn't need anyone to make me feel that way, so I conducted myself accordingly and I suggest you do the same. You're here to buy a car, not to have your ego stroked or your shoulders massaged. I showed up for the appt on time and this is where the positive experience began. I didn't ask for Tom, or anybody else. Nobody approached me as I entered the lot, and I prefer that. I brought a flashlight as always, and took 20 min looking at every square inch of the exterior, including underneath it. I like to have time alone with the car without distraction. I looked for signs of a bad repaint, oil leaks, rust, or any other deal breakers. As with any used car purchase, make sure you know what you're looking for, and don't rely on the seller's word for anything. Having to source and quickly turn over dozens of cars every month, dealers might not even know all the sins of the past that the car may be hiding. That's on you, and you really should approach buying a used car in this manner. I see one corner that was repainted and spot a slow leak from the oil pan and I factor that in to my decision. Only when I was ready to see the interior did I enter the office and request the keys. Tom handed me the keys and didn't follow me out to further distract or use any sales tactics, which I appreciated. On the interior I noticed some minor wear, cracked bits, and the seat didnt recline, which I also factored into my decision, and kept in perspective for a 17 yr old used car under $10K. I started the car and noticed that it was already warmed up, which is one negative that I didn't like, as I prefer a cold start inspection. Drove it around the block and on freeway and noted some minor issues that I was willing to accept. Based on all my findings I decided I still wanted the car and paid cash for it. Tom made it easy for me, didn't try to sell me anything or stroke my ego, and in the end we had a nice conversation about how he prefers to spend the time to choose the right vehicles for the lot, prices them accordingly, and then just "gets out of the way." Since this is also how I prefer to buy used cars, my experience was a 5 star. If you prefer to purchase your used cars in a different manner, this positive review may not apply to you or reflect your experience. In the end I found a great car at a fair price because I knew what I wanted, and was prepared to either pull the trigger or simply walk away if it wasn't the right one. The Retail Installment Contract listed the price for $4976.00. Where did the money go? We drove the vehicle for 39 miles and it overheated resulting in a great amount of damage! For starters they sold me a car with over-used tires, no brakes, malfunctioning rear camera, and a front door key lock that doesn't work. I called them to address this issue and they didnt even pick up, after several calls. When they finally did, their customer service rep. was extremely rude and spoke to me condescendingly, not to mention he was not even trying to help. If your going to bye a vehicle from them, take your mechanic, they are sold as is and willing to sell you a warranty for 250 bucks for a month, which I refused, since I was purchasing a Toyota Highlander and have more knowledge on vehicles than most people. However I only gave them 4 stars because the gave it to me with no gas. The next morning, I was going to the gas station and it died 35 feet from it, mind you I only live less than a quarter mile away. Thank God, some people helped me push it in. Let me start out with a positive. They got me financed. Now, I usually don't leave reviews unless they were really bad or really good, so you be the judge for this one. I found their website and needed a truck. I found this truck with over 10 pictures advertising a tonneau cover and stereo. I liked the price so called then and got approved for financing. I told them that I would fly down there, stay in a motel the night before and Uber to their location. I got to their lot 15 minutes before they opened. They got there and I identified myself as the buyer for the Ford truck. The salesman attempted to start it to no avail. Then they put a new battery in it, and they asked me if I wanted to test drive which I did. When I walked up to the truck, I saw this big dent in the bed. I asked them about that and was told that they tried to show the dent in the pictures but nothing was mentioned in the text about the truck in their advertisement. I went on a test drive and noticed the brake light was on. They said do not worry about it that it was just the parking brake light. I was stuck 200 miles from home, so I had no choice but to drive it out of there. If I were closer, I would not have purchased it. I stopped 50 miles down the road for a cup of coffee. Then it would not start. I opened the hood and found a lot of corrosion on battery cable that was not cleaned when they did the battery. I had to walk 1/2 mile to parts store to purchase some tools to clean battery cable. It started right up. I made it home and parked it on my driveway. Moved it the next morning only to find oil had leaked out of engine all over my driveway. To summarize. The brake light on is a malfunction in the instrument cluster so it must be replaced. The mirror switch had to be replaced. One tire was almost bald. Replaced two tires. The tonneau cover had no lock, just a hole where it used to be. One shock to hold it up is bad and the other side shock is missing including the shock mount. The stereo had to be replaced. The left rear window will not operate. Probably a window motor. I understand that it was a used truck, but I think it should at least go one month without multiple repairs. Some of these items were safety items. The oil leaks so bad that the engine smokes and I am afraid it will catch on fire, so I have to see what the leaks are and get it repaired. SO recommendation. Don't make a decision when you look at the pictures. Test drive and have your mechanic look at it. I am going to have to let it sit a while until I can afford to get it fixed. Royal G. Stay far away from this "dealership" I found a car on car guru's that SoCal Auto Group had listed. It was a used car that they advertised as $2500. under market value. I made an appointment to come see the car. I confirmed the time twice. I drove out to their very small corner lot in Reseda in rush hour traffic and arrived at my appointment time. I walked into the door and told them I was there for my appointment. I was then told, "Oh I'm really sorry, we are just now selling that car to someone else" I looked around the lot, the car was not even there. I asked why they hadn't texted us to tell us they didn't have the car anymore and they said, they just didn't. It's a typical bait and switch. That car was probably not even there when I made the appointment but wanted to get me on the lot in hopes of selling me something else. I walked out immediately. Since we bought it we have taken it into dodge multiple times, from Dash lights going off and on, breaks not working at all, can't get it out of park, the windshield wiper fluid for the front windshield does not work at all!! BUYER BEWARE Now, I've taken quite some time before I wrote this review. It is a vehicle and for the layperson sometimes you don't know exactly what you are really buying for quite some time. I don't just give the establishment this one lonely star, but I'm giving myself only one star also. I was excited and frankly I was just tired of searching by the time I found the vehicle that I wanted. I purchased a 1999 Lexus LX 470 from these guys back in October 2013. I was going to take it to lexus for the pre purchase inspection, but I fell for the "My guy already checked it out" line instead. I was already low on cash too. SPEND THE MONEY FOR THE INSPECTION SOME PLACE YOU CHOOSE. NO EXCEPTIONS. Dennis is the particular hustler that I had the pleasure of dealing with. He buttered me up by telling me that "his guy" just did $700.00 worth of work consisting of new brake pads and RR on CV boots etc. He also told me that the 90k service was done. It wasn't. I drove the truck home about 600 miles north and it didn't start the next morning. After tons of research I discovered that I needed to rebuild or replace the starter. So, I took the job on myself. All good. Starts right up. Two weeks later I'm hearing a high pitched whining noise and am having a coolant leak. That's when I realized the 90k was never done. He lied. So I purchased a new timing belt, water pump, idler pulley, t belt tensioner pulley, tensioner, drive belt, drive belt tensioner pulley, d belt idler pulley and again I did the work myself. Running great except the whine was still there. With the help of a stethoscope I found that it's the alternator bearings going bad. A new alternator is now on its way and I'm going to rebuild the old one for future problems. Also, I know nothing about body work and paint, at least previously I didn't. After I got it home I realized that this thing has been in an accident. The frame looks good as far as I can tell, but there has been a super shitty paint job done across at least half of the car, if not the entire thing that is now starting to bubble. DONT TRUST CARFAX. I know for a fact that Dennis knew of this cars condition prior to selling it to me, but him being the swindler that he is, he wouldn't disclose any of this info to me prior to my 600 mile trip to buy this car. I've had to fix and am still fixing so much on this rig, I should be ASE certified by now. Another thing. Before you end up like me and think you found a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, you have got to question why these guys are selling all these SUPER low mileage vehicles for so damn cheap. It's fools gold. These cars, at least most of them have some kind of problems that somebody has tried really hard to cover up. They are obviously doing a damn good job because they are still in business. You are not getting a smoking deal. That smoke you smell is you getting burned by Dennis or one of the other hustlers on that crappy little lot. So, who's to blame? Me....I guess. I should be smart enough to not get taken advantage of by some hustler in reseda. On the other hand, it's a shame that these guys just can't do honest business. I still would have bought this truck if he would have disclosed everything and dropped the price in the amount of the parts needed for repair...not even labor. But instead, Dennis made me feel like he was doing me the favor by coming down a measly $300. If you've made it this far then just know: be smart out there. Especially when you are dealing with used cars and hustlers who are advertising the lowest prices with the lowest mileage. I have to admit, it is a good hustle.
