My friend and I didn't feel like cooking last night so we decided to walk around Brickell and see what we could find that was not jammed packed and that had little to no waiting time for us to sit and eat. We decided to try SoCal and let me tell you, it was better than what I was expecting. Full disclosure, it is more American type of Mexican food than real Mexican food but it's still really good. We had one drink each, both very good. We decided to share the nachos with carnitas and the Tijuana tacos. I have to admit I liked the tacos A LOT. They have nice. Finch to it, the spiced meat is seasoned perfectly and goes really well with everything else in the taco. The ambiance is young and fun, music is really good. This spot is right next to Mister01, which is parallel to Mary Brickell Village. The drinks were good. The margaritas were good, mild, but not sweet (for anyone who enjoys their mixed drinks on the sweeter side). I enjoyed the 'tree of life' because mixed drinks with cucumber are personally refreshing to me; again, not sweet. The loaded fries were fine, would have preferred them with shredded cheese, rather than cheese sauce, but overall the appetizer does the good and it is filling. The guacamole and chips were my favorite! The chips were so fresh and very crispy! The guacamole was incredibly fresh and with a bit more lime juice, it was absolutely perfect! Justin was the person who helped us, he was extremely helpful, engaged and attentive to us having a great experience, and he was very kind! Thank you, Justin! Went here for brunch and they had the whole menu available. We tried five different types of tacos, including the California and Anaheim. We got the brunch mimosa deal for $30 which included a bottle of Barefoot Prosecco and OJ. The outdoor seating was relaxing and fresh. The service was great as well, a little on the slow side but that's understandable for the amount of people that were eating. I am a huge Mexican foodie and the tacos here are AMAZING. I ordered the Anaheim, Los Angeles, and San Diego tacos and was very impressed. Each had such different flavors and it was one of the best Taco Tuesdays in a long while. We also ordered SoCal Tostadas that were out of this world. Everything was also very inexpensive due to the Taco Tuesday special. We had plans to run to so this place was perfect for a quick but sufficient meal. We had great service during our first visit. Seating is outdoors and we enjoyed the Miami weather. The Mexican passion was a delicious spicy drink that gave everything you want a drink to give. My tacos were all so different and delicious. I can't remember the specific kinds, but be assured that there a half dozen or more to choose from. Super fun place for Taco Tuesday! Margaritas are $6.00 and tacos are $3.00. Great prices on Tuesday. The food was great. The baby strollers carrying dogs were, as usual, a nuisance to all. This is a busy restaurant with all local Brickell residents. Lots of foot traffic and lots of people watching. Like the silly couples now days pushing their dogs in baby strollers. EYES ROLLING. We have enough foot traffic in Brickell with humans and don't need the added baby strollers with dogs in them on the sidewalks and, for Christ's sake, INSIDE the restaurants. Unfortunately for SoCal, the frustrated waiters were struggling to get around the THREE baby strollers parked in the already packed area of the patio. Our waiter was awesome but clearly could do his job much more effectively if customers left their dogs and their baby strollers at home. read more

It's great when you can get seats right away when you're starving on a taco Tuesday evening. We came around 6pm. And got the last table available before there was a flood of people that came and had to be on a waiting list. As we sat down. Probably waited a few mins for an waitress to get to us. I think the other one thought the other one was serving and vice versa. But anyway. When she finally noticed everything was great after that. We put in drink orders margaritas and mojitos were good. The surf tacos were ok. But I really loved the Los Angeles and Santa Monica Tacos. I would come back for those. Atmosphere was nice and cool. Many young professionals. Had a nice vibe. This place is kind of hidden, it literally shares a small little patio area outside of Dolores but you can call me Lolita, so space is limited. Even though it was outside, they have fans so I didn't feel like it was too hot. Not gonna lie, their service sucked. We walked in kind of clueless yesterday because there was no hostess, we sat ourself. We were then confused because we saw a server, taking orders at two of the tables so we assumed one would eventually come to us. Nope. I decided to ask the bartender if we had to order at the bar and he said yes (that would've been nice to know since we weren't ever acknowledged). Our food came out in a timely manner and our tacos were good. I'm giving this place a 4 because the food was tasty, and the specials were good, but I had to take a star for their service. This one server with blondish hair saw us a few times and he totally ignored us. I'd come back to this place only when they have specials, probably not during regular days their service and crowdedness just isn't worth it but if you're lucky to save a few bucks on Tuesdays, this is your spot! read more

This place sucks. I am from out of state, am 25 years old, and my ID was rejected. Do NOT go to this place. If I can give this place 0 stars, I would. Extremely unfriendly service, the female waitress with dark hair and glasses is incredibly rude (you know who you are). My friends and I (all professionals 21+) went on vacation to Miami and stopped by this place for a quick drink. We were appalled by how this woman treated us. She showed not only her colleagues, but random customers around the cantina, our ID's; laughing and picking fun at them. She proceeded to deny our very-much real ID's and we left the premise. Pretty good food! The seating is very limited...nothing inside. Tacos were good, overpriced a bit but that's typical for Miami. SoCal was one of our favorite taco places in Miami. Key word being was. We usually come to SoCal for our weekly happy hour day. Over time the service has dwindled more and more. Today was the worst experience yet. When we got to the place we sat down and waited a long time to be greeted. It was not overly busy so this was confusing. We are regulars so we know exactly what we want and order everything up front. Finally after 10 mins of waiting our server came over and I told him that we were ready to order. He then walked away. Then he came back after a few minutes and dropped off water then walked away again. Finally on the third visit he asked if we were ready to order. I was ready the first time he came over. I brushed this off. I put in our order which was 6 tacos all on flour and a few drinks. Drinks came out first and they were amazing as usual. The woman manning the bar is always on point. Highlight of the experience. Then our food came out. Instead of giving us all flour tortillas we had gotten some tacos on corn. My husband is allergic/sensitive to corn so it was important that he got flour. Our server never came back to check on us, not once. My husband had to go over to him. The server told my husband that there are "no substitutions" allowed on tacos. This is ridiculous, we are regulars (been coming here since 2019) and have never had an issue with this. At that point we were ready to go, the night being ruined. We sent back the tacos then left. When we started coming to SoCal everything was amazing including service. The past few times have been disappointing. The corn/flour tortilla debacle put it over the edge. My husband got sick after leaving since he ate a bite of the corn taco before realizing it wasn't flour. read more

I've truly enjoyed myself in Miami, so for the last night of my stay, I decided to come to SoCal. I've walked by it numerous times and the vibes seemed great, so I gave it a shot. Big mistake. The food was honestly fine. Personally, I don't like fries in my burrito or heavily lime-seasoned tortilla chips, but the food was still good. The gauc was my favorite. But, the service was beyond shitty. I know restaurants are struggling right now due to staffing shortages, but I came @4, right when they opened and it wasn't busy at all. My server, dude with the man bun and heart tattoo by his left ear, sucked. He did a phenomenal job at serving the table directly in front of me, but totally forgot about me. I'll cut him some slack on my drink and food order wait time, but he literally just didn't have the common decency to check-in on me to see if I was doing fine. My last straw was when I asked for a to-go box and my check. Once again, he was catering to the table in front of me numerous times. So I got up, as if I was about to leave, then a different server came to me and gave me my bill. At this time, my server gave me a to-go box. I was too furious and just wanted to leave. The place was packed, barely any place to sit, luckily some people left and the server cleaned out the table and we were able to sit more comfortably. My friend ordered 3 different tacos. Unfortunately he mentioned they brought him two correct but one wrong one. I ordered three of the surf tacos. They were pretty good.
