My friend and I decide to pop by on a Taco Tuesday for a quick bite. The place was packed, barely any place to sit, luckily some people left and the server cleaned out the table and we were able to sit more comfortably. My friend ordered 3 different tacos. Unfortunately he mentioned they brought him two correct but one wrong one. I ordered three of the surf tacos. They were pretty good. The food was decent, and we didn't have to wait too long for our food or service. Overall, pretty chill place. Keep in mind, the environment is like an outside patio which can get a lot bit noisy. Absolute favorite go to when I'm craving nachos, tacos and best of all margaritas. This place is a small outdoor restaurant/ bar next to Dolores call me Lolita. To start it off, their service is amazing. All the people are super nice, attentive and just a joy. The nachos are a huge portion and the chips are unique, crispy and thick. Love the toppings they use as well. The tacos are amazing in my opinion. They have so many different options. My favorite one here is the rodeo. They have well seasoned mushrooms and they top the taco off with potato sticks! I think they have the best margaritas in brickell if you're looking for the classic marg. They don't cheap out on the alcohol content either. Pro tip- ask for the chili salt rim! So good. Just FYI they open only after 5pm. They also card after dark. read more

My husband and I moved from Los Angeles to Miami so we have high standards for tacos! We are on the hunt for the best tacos in Miami and SoCal Cantina is definitely one of our new spots now! They have daily happy hour drink specials between 5-7pm and $3 tacos on Tuesday. The margaritas are decent and the tacos are yummy! I like the Vanilla Sky rum cocktail too. The Los Angeles taco is so good!! It's a carne asada taco with cilantro and onions. I used to come to this place once a week with my wife and everyone from the front to the back were incredibly caring, courteous and kind. We just stopped by to have a early dinner and we were served by an absolutely rude, careless and disrespectful waiter who seem to hate his job. We ended up leaving early and moved to next door place. The waiter that was rude to us was a tall skinny guy who seem to hate his job or perhaps working today. The fries were exceptionally good - some of the best I've had in Miami. However my experience with the service wasn't so good. They got my taco order wrong. And when I let the server know that he got my order wrong (I needed corn tortillas not flour - stated this twice before he finalized our order) he asked me how I knew that they were flour and not corn - placing the blame on me? That was odd. Then I had to wait another 25 minutes for the fix to be completed and when I asked him on progress (bc he wasn't passing by to at least let me know how long it would take) he said that it wasn't a fast food joint and I need to wait or cancel my order. I mean RUDE. Then we get our bill and it was double the amount it should have been so we had to wait to get that fixed too. Socal is a great hangout spot. Its literally in the Dolores Lolita restaurant. Right on left as soon as you enter there's an outdoor deck area with high top tables that is home to Socal. Like it's name suggests, the vibe is very southern Californian. Everyone is laid back and laughing, definitely a neighborhood bar that you can be sure is casual and chill. I had a mango margarita drink that was pretty good. I also had some mushroom and bean tacos that were also good. The tacos are a good size. On Mondays they have a green chili that is very good, but it has pork so I didn't get to eat it, but my boyfriend loved it. I personally loved this little spot. Our waiter was on top of everything and was just the right amount of attentive. It's a nice change to an area that at times can feel a bit pretentious. I hope to come back soon! read more

Today we visited this lovely place right off of South Miami Ave. Great ambiance and on board with social distancing. The tables in their outside patio are separated complaint with the regulations. Service was wonderful the waiters were super friendly and helpful with suggestions as their menu is so diverse. SoCal puts a signature twist to each dish that makes it uniquely delicious. I had their version of coffee, the Black Gold which is a mix of coffee with lime juice. Omg! It was phenomenal! A true twist that is very refreshing especially if its one our Miami hot humid day. To eat I had the breakfast Nachos. It had the perfect balance of pico, cheese and it even has an egg on top. The perfect brunch nachos if you as me. I absolutely LOVE this place!! I have been to "Dolores but you can call me lolita" dozens of times and I always thought this place was just an outdoor bar of Dolores. But its not!! They have the BEST margarita called the "gardner's margarita" that is made with cucumber, bell pepper, and serrano pepper. I have never been a huge fan of spicy drinks, but this one completely changed my mind! We also ordered the "surf taco" and the "los Angeles." Both of them were very good. They sell them for $4 each or 3 for $11. This isn't really that much of a discount, but it's better than nothing. I highly suggest checking this place out. read more

We have been coming to SoCal a lot, usually on taco Tuesday. Felt the need to write an updated review because it has only gotten better. The food was excellent and our server : Camilo was great. He pointed out some choices I would never have tried: a fish taco option and some appetizers and drinks. All were great. This place is a real gem in Brickell and their team is doing a great job. I visited SoCal for the first time on a Thursday night with a group of friends and was disappointed in our service. From the moment we were seated, our server seemed annoyed with us. We asked her what she recommended and she didn't have anything to say. She seemed somewhat bothered that we weren't ordering drinks and kept making rude remarks. Someone mispronounced "rodeo drive" and she raised her voice correcting her. One of her colleagues definitely noticed and tried to make up for it by being more attentive, which I appreciated. I went back a second time because I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and experienced the same subpar service, so it's safe to say I won't be returning. The bartender we had the most customized a couple of their cocktails for us. The tacos were pretty good too. The tacos are priced well and they went down easy. The service was a mixed bag. When we arrived it was off putting because no one approached us or tried to seat us even though there were three different staff members in front of us. We asked one guy where to sit and he just looked around and said anywhere then left. Okay....not gonna lie at this point I was getting the vibe that most of the employees were stoned just because most of them had glossed over gazes. Anyways, we take our seats close to the bar and the waiter, who could learn a lesson on customer service, came to take our orders. We got margaritas and tacos cause duh. The three stars are more for the customer service there since the entire time the guy looked pissed off or just didn't want to be there. I get everyone has a bad day but leave that stuff at the door. I have become a regular at SoCal. I'm not sure why their average is a two. The food is great, the drinks are amazing, the bar staff are friendly, and make excellent drinks. They also provide for great conversation. Just ask their name and get to know them. Although the very simple margarita is the best around, happy hour prices are excellent for Brickell and there are many specialty cocktails. Try them all. We were looking for a new spot to try for a Taco Tuesday and while we normally avoid Brickell due to traffic and parking fiascos, we were thrilled to have made the exception for SoCal Cantine. I will admit, it was pretty packed that day since they have great drink and taco specials on Tuesdays, but we were able to find a spot on the counter along South Miami Avenue which allowed for great people watching too. Our server was amazing. She spotted us the moment we sat down and made sure to keep the classic margaritas flowing. The tacos were a very pleasant surprise but our favorite by far was the Tijuana taco. We ordered some guac and chips as well which was very fresh and tasty. THE FOOD: The tacos here are so good! They offer flour tortillas and corn tortillas which I like because I only eat flour tortillas. The SoCal burrito with the french fries inside is amazing, albeit a bit overpriced at about $15 when you add meat. However it is large like the ones at Chipotle. Also their signature spicy sauce is very tasty and I add it to everything. THE SERVICE: Almost every server who's waited on me at SoCal has been extremely friendly and has provided amazing service. That said, there is one blonde girl who is a server there (the only female I've ever seen working there) and she's very slow and not personable at all. I've had her a couple times and she just disappears and you can't find her when you need something. Also the food takes a really long time to come out but it's worth the wait. THE DRINKS: The drinks are pretty good but I think they are a little expensive even for Brickell standards. Beers are about $8 and cocktails are about $14. Non-alcoholic drinks start at $7. I do see the workers squeezing their own limes to make mixed drinks and using really fresh ingredients like that so I can almost justify the cocktails but $8 for a beer is too much really. Overall, bcause everything is really delicious here and the service, even at its worst, is better than a lot of places in the area, I still gave it four stars. HOWEVER I DO HAVE A BONE TO PICK WITH SOCAL and this is the only reason I gave it four stars and not five. Why do you not take takeout orders?? I have tried to call to place a pickup and you don't even have a working phone. You're an outside venue, so when it rains I do not want to sit there in the rain to eat or to wait half an hour for my order to come out so I can take it home. This makes no sense to me whatsoever. Get a working phone so that I can call in an order, walk in, pick it up, and leave. I don't know how any business can not have a phone at all. read more
