Through AHS(American Home Shield) my service request was denied because of the internal conflicting messages that Safe Cali was reporting. Chris (technician) were recommending that I didn't flush the water heater because of the age and unknown maintenance history. However, the supervisor on call was reporting to AHS that the manufacturing error code was to do the flush even though there has been 3 separate times in the last 3 months that the water heater was being faulty. I understand that they were following the AHS sets of rules, however it was very frustrating that no one was going to take responsibility for the potential damages that could happen if we were to service the unit. This problem was more with the AHS systems problem and not Safe Cali however their own call service wasn't entirely pleasant either. As for the costing, it seems as though it is relatively high compared to other plumbers. The water heater maintenance (flushing of the unit) was quoted for $350. It seems that in my area it is roughly $250-$300. It wasn't outrageously overpriced but still made me question the pricing tier of Safe Cali. The quote that was really overpriced was the installation of a new water heater. I was originally quoted $4363.28. The water heater itself was a reasonable price (roughly $1800+ change), although they seem to have added their own margin from the wholesaler but it was relatively concurrent with the quotes I got from other plumbers. However, the total price from Safe Cali and from my own plumber was drastically different. The quote I got from a separate contractor was $2600+ change. I did get a discount as my plumber was a family friend however he did tell me that Safe Cali's quote was still overpriced. So I end up buying the water heater and parts needed through my plumber, however because of his schedule being full, I still called Safe Cali to see if they can come down to a more reasonable price. I asked for a breakdown of the cost of labor so I can pay for the installation, however I was met with a very unprofessional response. He refused to give me the price of just the labor because I couldn't tell him exactly what components I bought as I didn't have the receipt in front of me. He continued to lecture me of how he does all his work up to code and how the plumber I got the quote from is probably unlicensed or does faulty work. It was alarming to me why he couldn't give me a breakdown of just the labor and was becoming defensive of his pricing. I feel that his strategy to convince people to pay his overpriced service is to bombard information that the average person would not understand to infer that he is smarter. I would assume that he should have more plumbing knowledge than me but he shouldn't use that as a tool to overcharge and profit off the potential ignorance of the customers. It seems that this company is running solely due to the customer service of the technicians like Chris that are out doing the work. They are extremely friendly and honest about their work however the management (supervisor on call) is not the most pleasant nor honest about their pricing. If you have AHS and have issues like a clog or minor plumbing problems, Chris would do a great job. However, for major issues with your water heater or even maintenance, I would highly advise you not to us AHS or Safe Cali Plumbing as they charge unnecessarily high prices for which they will not breakdown for you. read more

I was assigned SafeCal plumbing through American Home Shield because two of my toilets stopped working properly and my washing machine drain pipe started overflowing. This happened over the weekend, when we were told the plumber was unavailable to come. So in the meantime, a friend of mine crawled under my home to take a video of what was going on to make sure that it wasn't an emergency. What he found was water coming from underneath the two toilets not flushing properly, which is rotting the subfloor under said toilets, and active water in the dirt from every time the toilet is flushed. The technician assigned arrived at my house, went into both of my bathrooms, and diagnosed the problem as broken fill valves. When I explained to him that I was concerned that there was active water underneath my house and asked him if he would go look, he told me that he's been a plumber for 30 years, that I do not know what I'm talking about, and that it is a fill valve issue. I asked him again to please go under my home and he told me that it was unnecessary. I proceeded to show him video from underneath my home and the two toilets he just looked at which actively leak when you flush them. He looked at me and told me that because I told him water wasn't filling properly, that was how he was diagnosing the issue. He proceeded to tell me again that I did not know what I was talking about, and when I told him that he was being rude and unkind, that he was the service provider and how dare he speak to me that way in my home, he told me that he would not fix the problem. I have called the company and spoken with the really awesome human who answered the phone. I explained the situation and very clearly let her know what happened. She called a supervisor, had another technician rerouted to our house, and handled it quickly and apologetically. New technician arrived and is about to go under my home to see where the leak is happening. He thinks it's a flange that needs to be replaced, two new fill valves, and he snaked the washing machine stand pipe which so far appears to have worked. A licensed plumber for a verified business being shown active water leaks and refusing to investigate under my house is worthy of reporting. What's also worthy of reporting is the fact that he also thought I was too dumb of a woman to know better or do anything about it. I'm thankful that SafeCal Plumbing took what happened seriously enough to send someone immediately, and I'm hopeful that the original plumber has been sent back to the licensing board, as I wouldn't be comfortable with him servicing anyone else's home. read more

Safe Cali Plumbing is now under the name of Socal Plumbing and I wonder why. I would highly discourage people using this company. The owner, or the license plumber, Tig (full name TIGRAN VANESYAN), has no work ethics. I used to only use this company for all my plumber needs until recently. The last service I had with them (via American Home Shield) was a disaster because of Tig. He lied about the diagnosis so that he can have me pay for the repair out of pocket at the retail price instead of having American Home Shield to pay, which is typically lower than retail. When I confronted with him on this and told him what he did was unethical and possibly illegal, he got very mad and was extremely rude and very condescending and at times made fun of my accent. I had since made a formal complaint with AHS on this company and currently looking into opening a formal complaint with California State License Board. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this company. read more

David was very knowledgeable, understanding, and acted with urgency as he knew we would be without a kitchen faucet utility until it would get replaced. As I mentioned in my original review, Safe Cali Plumbing loves to reply to negative reviews by saying the customer is upset because their claim was denied or because the customer is lying about something. They basically have the same rebuttal for every negative review and after leaving my original review, they immediately replied by saying just that. How embarrassing for them. For the record, AHS did not deny our claim. In fact, they sent us a check to cover the cost of a new water heater, labor and disposal of the old! We gladly accepted because we were able to find an honest company to do legitimate work that didn't include $2850 ( not $2700 as I mistakenly wrote before) of imaginary and unnecessary work. Our insurance company contracted Safe Cali Plumbing to come out to replace my father-in-law's water heater. Water heater replacements are usually quite expensive but thankfully our insurance covered a portion of our bill. Karen facilitated the scheduling and George came out to replace the water heater and took out the old one. There was some sediment left in one of the pipes which is common after a replacement so we had to schedule for George to come back out and fix it along with an additional request that my FIL had which was to replace the filter on his waterless tank. The filter took longer than expected to come in after they ordered it which was the only caveat. However, Karen was very helpful and was sure to keep me updated on when it would be coming in and also switched around an appt to accommodate our schedule to get it done. WARNING to Homeowners: Deception with Safe Cali Plumbing As a homeowner and customer of American Home Shield (AHS), I feel compelled to share my unsettling experience with Safe Cali Plumbing, highlighting their apparent reliance on dubious practices to exploit insurance claims, ultimately at the customer's expense. The incident began with a malfunction in my shower's thermostatic temperature cartridge, traced back to a snapped solid metal brass rod. Before any proper inspection, the plumber from Safe Cali prematurely accused me of causing the damage, a baseless claim that was both unprofessional and presumptive. Upon finally examining the cartridge, the plumber admitted to never having seen such a breakage. My house was experiencing another issue to do with pressure. AHS doesn't cover 2ndary damage due to pressure. The plumber was super happy to replace the house pressure valve - which is good. However, the plumber hastily then concluded that excessive house water pressure was to blamefor snapping the solid metal rod in the cartridge. Home pressure can range from 40-70 PSI. Here it was 140 PSI. This led to his claim that the shower valve suffered secondary damage due to this pressure. However, a simple dive into the mechanics and mathematics reveals a glaring discrepancy in their assertion. To generate the torque necessary to snap the rod through physical force would require an inhuman exertion of approximately 1,800 pounds of force on the X handle, far beyond the capability of any average person, debunking the theory of damage by force. Moreover, considering the rod's 6.25mm diameter, pulling it apart would necessitate over 62,000 PSI, equating to a force exceeding 3,200 pounds, starkly contrasting with the actual force applied by the water pressure stated. To put it in perspective, a water pressure of 70 PSI translates to a mere 3.6 pounds of force, and even at 200 PSI, the force exerted barely reaches 10.29 pounds, a far cry from the necessary 3,000 pounds/62,000PSI needed to cause such damage. This mathematical evidence starkly contradicts the plumber's hasty and unfounded conclusions. Despite presenting these facts, the response was dismissive, with a supervisor on the line refusing to acknowledge the possibility of a defect, wear and tear, or a manufacturing flaw, instead opting to report a baseless conclusion to AHS. This experience has led me to question the integrity and professionalism of Safe Cali Plumbing. Their readiness to mislead and misinform, for financial gain through insurance fraud, is alarming. I strongly advise against inviting them into your home without witnessing a significant and sustained improvement in their service quality and ethical standards. David at Safe Cali stated to both me and AHS that the water pressure to the home is too high at 80Psi which led to a DENIAL of the home warranty claim. David tested the water pressure in front of me and took photos- I snapped a photo as well, it read using conversion 72.5 He never sent in the photos he took of the water pressure gauge, instead he just reported water pressure too high. American Home Shield authorized a 2nd opinion vendor whom tested and confirmed ( I have it in writing ) that the water pressure to my home is normal - it tested at 72 Psi. The 2nd opinion completed the work on the shower valve - the correct diagnosis per the 2nd opinion I received in writing: Final Job Description: "Found pressure 72 PSI. Upstrs bathr shower valve "Delta" single crystal handle is leaking, replaced repair kit." The quote I received from Safe-Cali was incorrectly dated 7-27-2020 ??? MY CONCLUSION: The $ 1,900.00 quote : "Need to make modification to Install 1" prv with pressure relief valve & new gate to ball valve" was for work that was un-necessary. The Hall/Bathroom quote: "Needs modifications to cut out leaking p- trap assembly in wall to cut out old Santee and replace with new fittings and pipe $ 1,100.00" MY CONCLUSION: Actually required the tightening of the slip joint nut. MY FINAL CONCLUSION : Save time, money, and aggravation -- Don't purchase a home warranty from any the the FrontDoor owned companies. In reviewing Safe Cali Plumbing, Inc. they are rude ! they send an boy who can't listen - the problem was put right in his face yet he insisted it was something else. He then had the balls to say " I don't feel comfortable with you and i'm leaving " the pathetic sorry excuse of a plumber then lied to his supervisor on the phone and I had to ask to speak to him separately. The spray hose had been cut by someone. It was very simple . Requested two separate services from AHS, and I was skeptical given the low reviews. Though take my review with a grain of salt given I think they were relatively simple fixes compared to past fixes from other companies; I received great service and I'm satisfied with the results. One was a leak under a bathroom sink that they replaced the piping, and the other was the shower faucet being unmovable. When both people arrived I introduced the problem, offered if they needed anything let me know, and got out of their way. They were expedient and courteous. Why they did get 5 stars is the follow-up call with instruction that if anything goes awry in the set time, to get a hold of AHS to reopen the ticket (in my experience, the trend for AHS contractor companies is hoping to run out the clock so the customer has to pay another fee for a revisit). I don't know if I should include names of the technicians, but they should know I'm thankful for expediency and no hassle. If I have any other issues and they aren't great, I'll be sure to update. So far 2 for 2, good experiences. For the requests I've made from AHS, I think they finally have had luck with getting better contractors, though sometimes I get the feeling the customer themselves may be the issue. read more

Never happened. I spoke 2x's to the dispatch person who said they would call back; but NEVER did. I left 2 messages and NEVER received a call Back. American home shield was no help. Unfortunately, I had to come back to give my review again because I had a bad experience with one of the plumbers from Safe Cali Plumbing company. I was a little nervous because their technician Tim was abrasive, and I was nervous about putting any type of bad review, knowing that he had my address. Back in Feb or March 2024, I had a broken pipe under my kitchen sink. I paid for a claim through my home warranty & they sent my claim to Safe Cali Plumbing. One of their technicians (whose name is Tim) came out to fix it. The first time he came out, I thought that he had fixed the sink pipe. However, the sink began to leak again the next day. I called Safe Cali Plumbing to let them know, and they sent Tim out again. The 2nd time he came out, he fixed the broken pipe, but I was a little nervous because I wondered if Tim knew what he was doing and if my sink would give me problems. I guess I was right to worry because all of a sudden, my dishwasher started backing up with water even though I wasn't using it. I called this company out again, explained to the dispatcher thatbevery since Tim worked on my sink, water is backing inro my dishwasher. They sent Tim out for a 3rd time! He seemed irritated that he got called out again and because of the language barrier, (he spoke Russian according to the dispatcher) he did not seem to understand that I was telling him that every since he fixed the sink that water was backing up into the dishwasher. Tim didn't listen to me and snapped back at me and told me that they don't fix dishwashers!!!" He opened up the cabinet door under the sink and looked and then just told me that he can't do anything because they don't fix dishwashers! No matter how much I tried to explain to him, he wasn't listening. A few days later, someone from another company came to look at the dishwasher, and the guy said that there was nothing wrong with the dishwasher. Unfortunately, the guy who came to fix the dishwasher also did not speak good english, and he didn't even look under the sink to see if the garbage disposal was hooked up correctly!!. I did not know what to do because all I knew was that after Tim worked on my sink, my dishwasher began backing up water into it. It costs me $85 for each and every claim, and I didn't want to waste my money having the SAME plumber or any plumber from Safe Cali come out a 4th time because of my experiencewith Tim and because if the low star reviews. So I waited and just kept manually draining my dishwasher the best way I could. I finally got tired of the stinch coming out of my dishwasher from water that kept backing up into it and paid another $85 for my home warranty to call someone else. THANK GOD that they called a different company out (the company that they called out this time was Samer Plumbing Company). The plumber from this different company called me and asked me what was going on with my dishwasher. I explained to him that it works, but water keeps building up into it even though I haven't used it. He then asked me if I had a new garbage disposal put in, and I said no, but that Tim from Safe Cali Plumbing fixed a pipe, and he unplugged and fiddled with the garbage disposal. I explained that all I knew was that my dishwasher was working fine before the Safe Cali plumber Tim fiddled with it. When Mr. Samer came out to my house he looked at the tubing from the garbage disposal and IMMEDIATELY saw that it was hooked up incorrectly. Therefore, Tim hooked up the garbage disposal incorrectly after he fixed my sink, and that caused the dirty water to back up into my dishwasher!! Tim should have known this and should have recognized that he hooked up the garbage disposal incorrectly. The reason why I'm giving this review is not to get anyone into trouble but to suggest MORE training and customer etiquette for their employees. Because, at the end of the day, it is too expensive for customers to have to call out a plumber and pay astronomical prices for them not to know what they're doing. read more

Our shower was leaking so I contacted AHS. They said someone from Safe Cali Plumbing will be calling to schedule. I checked their reviews and got horrified!!! Called AHS to see if they can assign the job to an another company but they said they couldn't change the work order.(unless I cancel and make an another request) So I was expecting the worst but to my surprise, Moe showed up exactly on time(how often does that happen?!!!?) and FIXED THE LEAK THAT DAY. No ordering parts for us to wait days/weeks!! He simply went to the local home improvement center, got the part, and fixed the issue.
