How did it take me so long to discover we had banchan shop in Pleasanton?!? I love banchan (refer to Yelp profile), and can't believe I only just discovered this place! Clearly, I was not looking hard enough. They have kimbap, kimchi, pickled radish, japchae, kimchi fried rice, fish cakes, fried pancakes, etc. I restrained myself from purchasing one of each item and settled for the beef kimbap and seafood pancakes. Dropped in to this little gem of a place for some authentic Korean stuffs. First off, was expecting a much bigger place, but it'll have to do. Slim pickens for Korean around the Bay Area. But yeah, this place will have to do. There are a bunch of refrigerated items - some of my favorites. Dried squid, fishcake, and of course, kim chee. They are all real tasty and legit, although I prefer the Hawaiian style taegu that a little thicker, softer, and sweeter. They also got a bunch of freshly made hot foods, including some korean sushi (which is super good btw), some KFC, and some pancake and other assorted goodies. Didn't see any but really wish they had Korean fried rice bowls with an egg on top. I'd be here on the regular. Oh and they should figure out how they can sell Hite and Kass. woot! Delicious! This is my moms favorite place to get Korean snacks. It's a small mart/food spot tucked in a plaza with plenty of parking. The ladies working are all really nice and prices are great! Their beef gimbap is delicious with lots of meat. Their spicy rice cake tastes like the ones you'd get off the street in Korea! I'm not a fan of all the toppings on my tdeokboki so this is perfect. Super chewy and spicy! Fish cakes are delicious as well. They also have delicious odeng (fish cake soup), rice cakes, shikhye (traditional Korean rice drinks), japchae, and more! Great place to get side dishes as well instead of going all the way to SJ to the Korean mart. Portions are huge and you can get a meal for two with $20. Perfect place for a quick snack or togo some stuff for a picnic. Highly recommend! read more

Delicious Korean Bunsik takeout style restaurant with affordable and diverse snack items. They have packaged snacks like moon pies and korean sodas but the main draw is the banchan and kimbap. Most impressive is their refrigerated section on the left side, Korean spicy pickled seafoods I've not seen at other places like octopus, squid, roe, and crab. Huge amount of very cool items worth checking out before heading to the front counter for the warm items. My wife asked for spicy cucumber and I was able to find her cucumber cut length wise like pickles instead of sliced, I ate 2 and she somehow finished the rest without offering to share. This was the biggest conflict we've had in our marriage. The beef kimbaps here are very good, the meat is better cooked and seasoned than at other places and is going to be my go to. It's perfectly sweet, savory, and a subtle alcoholic taste which I enjoyed, it's like a relative made these for you because the rice to ingredient ratio is amazing, super small amount of rice. Fishcake versions were good as well but I liked the beef the best. Japchae had a lot of green onions and carrots and looked a but more balanced, it was slightly too peppery for our taste. I liked the seafood pancakes a lot, they are mini pancakes and were easy to get crispy in a toaster oven. They were oily but easily dabbed with napkins. I would not repeat the spicy raw oysters. A couple were tasty but no one else in my family wanted to eat them so it was all me. The more I ate the more I noticed how salty they were. read more

Love this little shop. Great place to get fresh bon chan and various Korean street snacks. Fresh hot foods like kim bops, fried chicken, jap che, and pancakes. Every time I pickup items, friendly greeting and staff. The kim bops are freshly made. I usually buy the beef kim bop and the fish cake kim bops. The Korean Fried Chicken have both Spicy and Mild options. The chicken still has a nice fried crispy crunch along with a great seasoned glaze. The pickled daikon and carrots are nicely crisp and pickled. I enjoy snacking on the seasoned fish cake, seaweed and bean sprouts. Small parking lot which could be busy from other shops. If you're a fan of sushi rolls (maki sushi), there's a good chance you'll enjoy Korean Gimbap. Bite-size disks of sticky rice wrapped in seaweed, and stuffed with beef, fishcakes, burdock, and a variety of pickled veggies. Sodam is a tiny food stand / market where you can order a plate full of Gimbap for just under $10. I order both the beef and burdock rolls and enjoyed both, especially the beef ones. You can also get pre-packaged japchae (Korean rice noodles), blood sausage, seafood or kimchi pancakes, and Korean Fried Chicken. They must prepare the Gimbap to order since there's someone in the back wrapping them. Besides Gimbap you can also get fishcake udon soup and Korean shaved ice. The rest of the market is pretty tiny. You can get kimchi and banchan from the fridge, or peruse among various Korean desserts that look like combos of sticky rice, red beans, etc. If you prefer flakier pastries, Paris Baguette (a Korean bakery chain) is a few blocks away. Although the market is small, its one of the few places in the Tri-Valley to get quality Gimbap with fast and friendly service. Perfect for a real quick and healthy lunch or picnic/roadtrip food. read more

Home-styled Korean food store which has a teriffic selection of home-made Korean items, as if I had walked into my friends' family home and his mother brought out all the Kimchi the family made. Many types of banchan available, as well as some items you don't usually see in the large Korean markets such as baby oysters, jjajanggejang (marinated crab), etc. Nice selection of grab and go hot foods, some Korean mandus, kimbap, soups. Sodam, you are so-dam amazing!! Thanks to Harvey K. for putting you on my radar, I arrived shortly after they opened and could have walked out of there with one of everything. What we did get was both the beef and godo kimbap, 2 orders of japchae, injeolmi, and scallion pancake from their prepared foods area and kimchi and a few other items from their refrigerated area. The beef kimbap comes with 10 pieces while the godo kimbap had 18 pieces. Since the beef kimbap used ground beef, it was messy to eat in the car if you bite into it plus I preferred bulgogi beef kimbap over this style. The godo kimbap was very tasty and filling and the japchae delicious, so glad we got my mom her own so we didn't have to share. It was the first time having injeolmi but our Korean friend from Sac raves about it so we had to try for ourselves. Super soft mochi like texture covered with the soy bean powder, makes it very addictive, but since it is best consumed day of purchase, it is a lot for just 2 people, so sharing is best. With so much more to try and super friendly owners, we will definitely be back and may just pick up one of everything for our friends in Sac. read more

I had not been back since pandemic started. After staying home and watching korean shows, I had been craving some good food. I called in the morning to see if they were opened. The lady answered phone so sweet and nice. She even said see you soon! Many stores these days couldn't be bothered when you called. I am still recovering from a surgery and avoiding eating eggs at the moment. So I ordered fish cake kimbap without eggs. The lady was so sweet and told me to give her 2 minutes and they would make me a fresh one w/o eggs. When it was ready, she smiled and handed me the food and said "hope you enjoy the food"! I was so touched and felt appreciated. Not only food is high quality, delicious and amazing, the service and experience are also by far the best. They are the best people with kind hearts and that shows in the quality of their foods and service!! I walked out very happy. I bought kimbap, spicy chicken wings, spicy stir fried fish cake, spicy anchovies, tofu soup, cut kimchi and red bean rice cakes. All for $61! read more

I absolutely love this place, and the owner is a super sweetheart! We came to have lunch here, as well as doing some light grocery shopping. There are about 4 tables where you can sit and eat. Woah, this was so good! We had no idea this place was here, but we were in the area and super hungry. Of course, we turned to Yelp and started looking for a place to grab a quick bite. Not only did this place hit the spot, but I already know Im going to be craving it in the future! What we ordered: - beef kimbop 5/5: yummy, affordable! Like many other kimbap that I've had. It's delicious, but nothing special. Just good, satisfying kimbap. - Tteokbokki 5/5 : I can't even begin to explain how good this is. The flavor is just so good when you take your first bite, and they put fresh rice noodles in. It's the best I've had so far in the Bay Area. - gobo kimbap 5/5: I always enjoy some hobo kimap. Not as commonly found as beef kimbap. They did a great job here. - rice cake(dessert) 4/5: a little too sweet, but otherwise yummy. - few other snack assortments They also had a refrigerator section full of kimchi and other delicious side dishes! It is cozy, the owner and staff are very nice and friendly We found out through friends that Sodam offers bento box catering. We had a big event at the Catholic Church and ordered a large quantity of bento boxes at the last minute. The quality, quantity, and taste were all excellent. We received many compliments about how great the food tasted. Thank you so much for accommodating our last-minute request with such a large quantity. You will be our first choice for future events. It was lunch time and many were in line. I ordered teoppoki and it took sometime before it came out. As soon as it came out they called out and the man who ordered after me ran and took my order at which the cashier didn't do anything. I had to wait another 10min just to receive my order. SodamGood is the actual name of this place. LOL kidding but it is pretty darn good! Its a cozy little shop that offers all kinds of Korean goodies from kimbap to Honey rice cakes to Banchan which there's alot to choose from the refrigerated section. I usually pop in to get kimbap, Japchae and Kimchi fried rice for a quick meal/cheap meal. About 3 visits ago, I discovered their Kimchi Dumpling, its got a good kick and my daughter seems to enjoy it very much so i've added this to my usual pickups as of my last 2 visits :) Wonderful Gem of a place to have in the tri-valley area for yummy affordable Korean snacks/food. Small family owned takeout off the San Ramon exit. On Saturday lunchtime, there was a small line out the door but it moved quickly. Tons of ban Chan in multiple refrigerators, to go meals and snacks. I ordered the tteokbokki and fish cake bimbap. As one of the reviewer suggested, I dipped the sushi roll into the tteokbokki and it was addicting and delicious. The tteokbokki was hot and spicy, and came with fish cake. I also got an order of the red bean mocha and mugwort. It was fresh and delicious, chewy, seeet with a hint of bitterness from the mugwort. *****Customer Experience During the COVID-19 Pandemic***** Sodam is a Korean mini mart tugged away in a corner of a strip mall on Amador Valley Blvd, directly across from Casa Orozco. I bookmarked this place when they first opened way back in 2013. For some reason, it took me three weeks shy of seven years to finally stop in. Shame on me, I totally missed out! I came here on 09/19/2020 at around 4 pm. It was pretty packed when I walked in. Fortunately, there was just enough room for effective social distancing. The interior was clean. There was a bottle of hand sanitizer at the entrance for customer use. Lines were marked on the floor to remind people to stay six feet apart from each other. A large plexiglass shield was installed at the counter for droplet protection. This place offers a variety of kimchi, condiments, rice cakes, drinks, snacks, and cooked street foods. I got two orders of beef kimbap, one order of fish cake kimbap, and japchae. The total was just under $25. Everything was delicious. The kimbaps had a nice filling-to-rice ratio and the taste and textural contrast was wonderful. The japchae was nicely seasoned and tasted like it was freshly made. The lady at the counter was very friendly. I was looking for some injeolmi and she told me they usually sell out of it by lunchtime. I'm glad I finally made it here. Love this place. Convenient korean store in the tri-valley when I don't want to drive down to Santa clara. I really enjoy their fish Jun, kimbap, and dukbokki. I've had a few of their banchans over the years (kimchi, cucumber kimchi, bibimbap mix, radish kimchi) and they are pretty decent. They also sell some kimchi that's from Korea. read more

I'm soooo excited that I discovered this store! Sodam is tucked away in a small shopping center off of Amador. The parking lot doesn't have many spaces, but there are plenty of other shopping centers with parking nearby. I think you could easily park in those and walk over if necessary. Despite its small size, this shop has a lot to offer. One side is a mini-market and the other side has a few tables. The fridges are packed with many items, including kimchi, banchan, bibimbap veggies, marinated seafood, and Korean beverages. There is also a table with fresh packaged rice cakes (sweet, plain, brown rice). At the front, there are packaged dishes to go, such as kimbap, japchae, pancakes (jeon), chicken wings, and kimchi fried rice. The menu above the counter offers hot tteokbokki, fish cake soup, and a few drinks. I bought fishcake kimbap for lunch and stir-fried fishcakes for home. Based on Yelp pictures I've seen, it seems like the prices have gone up in the past year. My kimbap was $8 for two rolls, which is a win for me because it can be so hard to find a meal under $10. Both of the things I bought were tasty! I was excited to see Korean fish cakes because as far as I know, 99 Ranch doesn't sell them (I could be wrong). It's just Sodam good! Tucked away in the corner of a nondescript strip mall in Dublin is this charming little Korean mini mart. It's not quite a full fledged market, nor a formal restaurant, but Sodam offers a good selection of freshly made favorites, such as kimbap in various flavors, pancakes, japchae, chicken wings, fishcake, squid, bulgogi, and of course... kimchi, and much more! In addition, there are popular packaged Korean snacks available as well, so you can get your fix of all your favorites in one spot. Service is also quite friendly, as this is likely a family owned operation. My only minor gripe is that the lighting is quite dim, and not very inviting. The first time I walked in, I was wondering if I entered the wrong establishment, or if the place was even open at all! Also, parking can be a mess sometimes, as the lot is a bit cramped, but I always see people double parked along the side, which is fine if you are just popping in and out quickly. Shh... you didn't hear that from me though. Recently, I've been out in the Tri-Valley relatively frequently, but a trip out to Sodam along with Boba Bliss down the road always make the long trip something to look forward to. read more

Sodam has been on my list to try for such a long time, so I was so happy when I finally went after my bro confirmed this place was good. This wasn't your usual Korean restaurant as it's more grab and go with really quick service. There's all the Banchan that you could wish for on one side when you walk in and all the sweets on the opposite. But I came mainly for the Kimbap. I wasn't entirely sure if you had to order at the register or if you were supposed to grab the rolls and/or hot food from the case until another customer did just that. I ended-up getting 2 Fishcake Kimbap, 2 Beef Kimbap, and 2 Mandu and they were the best I've had in a while. Portions were generous, food was fresh, flavors on point, and prices were affordable. I saw the photos and the business hours, I decided to come here to try out their Korean food. The shop is very neat and has lots of variety packaging from table to frozen side. This shop basically can get whatever you're craving for, they have kimbap rolls, mild spicy dukbokki, fried rice, chapjae, sweet desserts, snacks and etc. Their food delicious and less oily. Stumbled upon this cute little Korean shop that serves up delicious yummy snacks like japchae, kimbap, tteokbokki, mandu, jjeon and fried chicken. It's nice to come here to pick up banchan because they have a huge variety and make everything in-house. Also a perfect spot for a quick snack or fast lunch. Some of my favorite banchan, ranging from $8-16 1) Spicy crab, spicy, fresh and delicious raw marinated crab 2) Spicy oysters, perfect addition to my bossam that I make at home 3) Fish cakes, spicy and regular, my nephew loves this 4) Braised eggs, a staple in our household, wish they had quail eggs but these are delicious as well 5) Cucumber kimchi, super crunchy and spicy, very refreshing I haven't tried their kimchi or their radish kimchi yet, but I'll probably end up coming here over and over again anyways. read more

Sodam is a mini Korean market / cafe, where you can get fish cake soup, shaved ice, fish cake and beef kimpap, japchae, fried chicken. Located in the little plaza next to the Exxon gas station. Plenty of parking spaces but it can get crowded during the lunch hour. Goodwill is currently closed so you can technically park there and walk. They have a few fridges full of homemade kimchi, seaweed salad, pickled radishes, spiced octopus, bibimbap veggies, etc. Prices are very reasonable. I got a huge container of kimchi for $9. I forgot the prices of the kimbap, fish cake soup, but I remember them being under $10. Which is so much cheaper than eating out at a restaurant! They also sell Korean snacks and sauces/condiments. I always like to marvel at the fridge section because they have so many side dishes and lots of options for Kim chi. Why have I lived in Dublin for over 2 years and not tried this place?! I have tried all the other Korean restaurants in this area, but I was looking for kimbap. I am so excited to find a market with snacks and banchan! I bought kimbap and some extra goodies for home. I bought the bulgogi kimbap $8 and green onion pancakes $8. A tub of tofu soup $10 (my favorite!) and decided to try frozen cheese fish cake corn dogs. ($? Forgot) Everything was delicious and I will be back!
