The kimbap was okay in my opinion, but I'm also not a huge fan of kimbap so if you're a huge fan you would love it. The tteokbokki and fish cake soup were super cheap, but the rice cakes weren't chewy enough and the sauce didn't have much flavor. It's a pretty cozy place with a few tables in the corner for you to eat in. If you want to try a mom-made-ish Korean food, this place is for you (even though my mom's food is the best!) I like to get some of their Banchan (side dishes) to complete my dinner table at home. Especially Namul (you call it mountain herbs or medicinal herbs banchan, for the lack of an English word) are always great for healthy options. Also, they make the best tteokbboki in the area, in my opinion. I was in the mood for a place that I haven't tried before. I remembered coming here to pick up kimchi fried rice for a friend one time, but never tried the food myself. Came here around lunch time, and there were a few people eating there. By the time I left, there was a line of about 6 people. You ordered at the counter, and all the food or packaged for take out. There are a couple tables and some counter space to eat there, but most people do take out. There is a center are with snacks, and a few fridges for kimchi and other premade food. On to the food, I got the fishcake soup, kimchi fried rice and spicy chicken wings. The fishcake soup was loaded with a few different types of fish cakes, and really hit the spot for me because this is the type of soup I grew up with as a kid in Hong Kong. I'm not usually a fan of kimchi, but the kimchi fried rice wasn't overwhelming with kimchi - just the right mix of rice, pickles daikon, egg and a few chunks of kimchi. The spicy chicken wings were more sweet than spicy. Everything was super yummy. The lady at the counter taking my order was friendly, and my soup came out in a few minutes. Korean Market. Cafe. Sodam. is so dam good! I'm sure that play on the name is worn out but it rang true for both my friend and I when were in the area looking for something light to eat. Small plaza. Meaning not a lot of parking. But we got lucky and arrived just as someone was leaving. Don't know how it is on other days or other times. But, if you don't mind walking, huge parking lots galore across the streets on two sides. Walk in and you'll see what I mean about being a market and a cafe. Frozen goods. Packaged goods. Premade food. Sitting area. Counter. Casual. We grabbed and shared a beef and fish kimbaps (see pics). It hit the spot and was light enough that we didn't ruin our appetite. Don't know how fresh it was but the rice wasn't hard and the veggies still had a crunch. Didn't even need any condiments. Light and healthy. And to me, inexpensive. I can't really comment on service as we didn't quite dine in. We did take our order and sit at the counter but I'll say the woman helping was very nice. Friendly and funny too. **November 2022: Friday afternoon visit** My friend and I were hungry, but wanted something light. I found Sodam through Yelp and this small mom and pop shop was perfect for what we needed. Upon entering patrons can see a wide aray of grab and go Korean goods and snacks. They have a couple of seats for indoor dining, but lighting is very dim. I tried their beef kimbap as well as their fishcake one. The fishcake kimbap was fantastic - I will definitely get this again. I love these little mom and pop businesses. I once lived in an area that is heavily populated by Koreans and used to Korean grocery stores. The never ending supply of banchan, kimbap and snacks were my favorite. I was so happy when I walked in here and saw their fridge filled with goodies, as well as three different types of kimbap by the counter. It was so homey and cheap too! If I lived nearby, this would be a regular spot. I live a good half hour from here but managed to polish off half my roll while driving. So yummy. read more

When I come by, my go tos are usually the red kimbap, beef kimbap, and cheese tteokbokki - all are perfectly portioned and the tteokbokki covered in cheese is so so yummy! They also have a few tables if you prefer to dine in. I found it thanks to my fellow yelpers. It is rated high and there is a great selection of kimbap, kimchi and other banchan dishes, chicken wings, seafood and chive pancakes, packaged snacks, and cold and hot drinks. We decided to try their stir-fried fishcake, green vegetable (looked like spinach), beef kimbap, gobo kimbap (burdock, fishcake, egg, cucumber, pickled radish, and carrot). We also got a serving of japchae (stir-fried glass noodles with a few veggies mixed in). We enjoyed our food and look forward to visiting them again when we're in the area. We enjoy supporting mom and pop businesses and we hope that this little place will get plenty of business into the future. My favorite Korean spot in Dublin I loveee Sodam!! It's like a little Korean market, and it's so delicious. I try and come at least once every 2 weeks because it's so good! Hot Food: - Tteokbokki (Spicy Rice cake): 5/5 YUMMM!! Such a good portion size and comes with some fish cake inside. I've tried a lot of tteokbokki and it tends to be on the sweeter side, but this one is perfectly savory with a little sweetness and not too spicy! If you are going to try one thing on the menu, order this. - Beef Kimbap: 5/5 Honestly, it is not the most amazing kimbap ever but dipped in the tteokbokki broth, it's so good. Life changing. I always crave Sodam's beef kimbap dipped in the tteokbokki broth. It has a good amount of filling too. - Fish cake soup: 4/5 The fish cake soup is yummy, but not my go to because I think the other menu items are better lol. Would order if I'm craving, but not my go to order. It's not too salty and has a good variety of different fish cakes which is nice! - Mung bean jeon: 4/5 Yummy, but I wish it came with sauce! Finally had a chance to visit this neat and super cute Korean grocery/cafe. Very happy to find reasonable prices for freshly prepared food! Tucked away in a non-descript shopping strip in downtown Dublin, Sodam serves a variety of freshly prepared refrigerated as well as hot/warm items. It also has seating for a few guests. They had a wall of refrigerated kim chi and banchan with quite a selection. The dumplings, kimbap, kimchi fried rice, chicken wings and different pancakes were all still warm as they were lovingly prepared in the morning. I loved going to this mom-and-pop store to get my Korean banchan cravings satisfied. My dentist is located in the same plaza as this shop so whenever I need dental work, I will always stop by here to pick up some food. Parking has never really been an issue unless it's during peak hours, you might have to circle around a few times or park in one of the surrounding parking lots and walk back. The space inside comprised of a counter, some shelves with Korean snacks and rice cakes, a few tables and chairs in case you want to dine in and 2 fridges filled with prepackaged banchan varieties. I usually get the marinated dried squid, the fish cake and the fish cake kimbap. All the food is prepared well and is delicious, I prefer their banchan over the ones sold at H-Mart. Prices have gone up over the years but it's still reasonable. Credit card accepted even though it's a tiny store. Sometimes there's a line to pay for the food since this is the only store of its kind in the Tri-Valley area but service is fast and efficient. After an eventful weekend in Pleasanton, I wanted to pick up something quick before heading home. I am so glad I came across Sodam. The parking lot was a little hectic so I just ran in the shop to pick up a few things while the hubs wait in the car. I was surprised how busy the shop was and there was only one sweet lady running the cash register and taking orders. The tteobokki is made to order but the other dishes such as the Kimbaps and japchae are prepackaged but since it's been so busy everything was freshly prepared. I wanted to buy so many things since a lot of their refrigerated items looked really good too! Here is what I ordered: + Beef kimbap: I only had beed Kimbap a handful of times and this one was by far the best one. The beef was not dry and I like the hint of sweet of the beef. + Fishcake kimbap: I like that you can really taste the fish cake in the rolls. + Tteokbokki (added cheese and seaweed roll): Freshly made to order so it was pipping hot! The sauce was delicious but the rice cakes itself were too overcooked for me. The added Kraft cheese which made it creamier. The seaweed roll got soggy so next time I'll ask to have it on the side. + Marinated octopus: I love the crunchiness of the octopus. + Marinated garlic stems: A little too salty for me. + Rice drink slush: I didn't care much for the rice bits but the drink itself was refreshing. Not only does this place have the most generous servings of bulgogi kimbap, along with classic bunsik tteokbokki, they sell handmade banchan and other Korean goods, such as yakgwa, ppeogtwigi, tteok (including my favorite, ggul tteok), noodles and rice cake discs for tteokguk, and kimchi. I'll give Sodam a 4.5/5 stars. I've been to Sodam many times. Sometimes I come here twice a week. My husband comes here about 3 times a week. We live their beef and fish kim bap. Occasionally we will get their fried chicken wings, japchae, etc. My husband gets their banchans and their bi bim bap vegetable mix. I told him I can make those. I make the sprouts banchan/side dish the most at home. Believe me, that disappears in one sitting. My husband could probably eat the entire bowl if I let him! Still, due to convenience; he stops by here on his way to work in the East Bay. The lady cashier is friendly enough. I always greet her with "Yeoboseyo". I worked in a Korean restaurant in high school so the ajummas there taught me a few words. I hope this word is still socially acceptable because they were called that by the owner, manager, and told me to call them ajumma(s). read more

Since Covid they no longer have seating but have expanded more seafood and marinated meats. All of the items are prepackaged and are stacked in refrigerators. Only one knock is not all the items have labels or prices. The baked goods are on a table with the grocery items. There is a small hot box with pancakes and dumplings. If kimbop is what your looking for you need to go early because they sell out by noon. There is small parking lot but when it gets busy spaces are hard to come by. Had to get my fave, tteokbokki, which came out to be super flavorful and spicy. The food (and weather) were super hot so I also tried their rice slush drink- perfectly cooling and sweet.
