Looking for a brunch spot, Yelp photos lead me to this Moroccan/French cafe. Super quaint interior with tons of natural light and a gorgeous outdoor patio seating if that is what you prefer. Order at the counter and grab your seat of choice. Here is what we ordered: - Parisian (daily fresh baked croissant and baguettes with French butter, apricot jam, and honey) - Moroccan Breakfast (comes with a side salad and tangerine wedge) OMG, the entire Parisian basket of goodies was absolutely delightful. The croissants were incredibly soft and buttery. Love that one of the croissants was filled with dark chocolate. The owner told us that it is baked daily and is served with French butter. If you know, you know, that French butter hits differently. And the Moroccan Breakfast is something I never had before. It is served with baguette so you can soak up all the sauce. The tomatoes were perfect without being too tart. The spice was not too overpowering and the eggs...again perfect! Also had their mocha latte and wow, they use real dark chocolate. Make sure you mix it well before drinking. The owner, Christopher, came by to chat with us for a bit. Told me that I must come back next time and try their quiche Lorraine. Came here for brunch with a friend I got the Morrocan eggs. It comes with a piece of baguette. I did order their cold brew. The coffee is self served. I actually did enjoy the coffee. It was pretty yummy. The breakfast was good, but I will say that it did not fill me up as much. I think the portions were too small and the price are way too high for what you got you're paying. Went here for my friend's birthday and this cafe is just the prettiest! The decor, the garden, and the sunroom were so beautiful- best for cute dates, with your girls, and intimate celebrations. Orders were taken at the register and the staff answered all our questions regarding the menu. My friend and I got the Lafayette Tea Tower, Moroccan Mint Tea (hot), Morracan Selection, and Shakshuka. This place is quite unique. Visited for a Valentine's Day brunch and it was the perfect french breakfast experience that we wanted. The entrance outside is quite eyecatching, so beautiful. Inside is tight but comfortable. You have to order at the counter and find a table. It was empty when we arrived (around 9:30 am) but all tables filled up quickly after as the space is small. The staff was nice but the food was soo simple and lovely! I loved the Parisian bread basket, an absolute must to order, I then ordered the 2 egg breakfast and my husband got the Parfait. Two of our friends who've recently been to Morocco frequent this restaurant and suggested we go there, knowing we're also keen on Moroccan cuisine after our 2016 trip there. Arriving before six, we were seated immediately and ordered within mere minutes due to the quintessentially concise menu (and the fact that our friends had tried everything on it). The ambiance is wonderful; its soft colors and textures imbue one with relaxation. For starters, we selected the Flavors of Morocco appetizer. It was excellent, but a bit blander than expected. For mains, I ordered the Chicken Tagine; my wife went with the vegetarian version. The Chicken Tagine was unbelievably tender and moist, with subtle seasoning--quite the opposite of what I experienced in Morocco. My wife absolutely loved her Vegetarian Berber Tagine. Our repeat customer friends each had the Candied Chicken Tagine, their favorite. Three out of four of us opted for the Coffee and Sweets selection, comprising three mini-Napoleons. Only one really piqued my palate; the other two were both very sweet. Next time I'll get the Date and Walnut cake, which was spectacular. It's also big enough for sharing. read more

Very pretty ambiance. Fresh flowers on all tables, and with today's weather in the high 70s, the outside patio seating was a dream come true. Owner and staff is friendly and chatty. However we were quite underwhelmed by the food. We got the Moroccan eggs, Lemon chicken sandwich, Lavender latte, Hot chocolate and the Date Walnut cake. The Moroccan eggs lacked salt and any flavor, pretty much tasted like tomatoes and eggs. The chicken as well as the bread in the Lemon chicken sandwich was the driest I have ever had and it didn't have any flavor to it. My husband had to put the tomato gravy from the eggs onto the sandwich to make it palatable. Hot chocolate barely had any chocolate, it was mildly sweetened which I prefer but it was mostly milk with a hint of chocolate. I hate wasting food but the Date walnut cake was so dry that we could barely eat it after maybe forcing 50% of it down our throats. I am not sure what went wrong - was it a bad day or maybe we ordered the wrong items because all the other reviews are glowing and seem like most people enjoy the food here. How I wish my experience was better but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Edit: The owner was sweet enough to reach out and explain some issues they encountered in the kitchen today. I just want put a disclaimer that every restaurant has good and bad days. My review is just a personal opinion based on my experience today. What I can do is request everyone reading this to not let their decision to dine here be influenced by it. I hope to come back and try their food again. read more

I visited with a group of four on Saturday brunch, and the spot lives up to its name as one of the most aesthetic sites in the Gayborhood! You enter from one side to order, then it's a seat-yourself process afterwards in its indoor space. The menu itself has great variety, from pastries and sandwiches to salads and notable French-Moroccan inspired dishes. My order was the Croque Monsieur, which was accompanied by a side salad. I thought my dish was delicious, but felt the prices were on the higher end for the portion size. Their pastries were tasty and I think are more worth the purchase if you're looking for a quicker, small bite. The only setback about our experience was that we weren't told our Parisian bread basket included an almond croissant, which was unfortunate since one of our friends had a nut allergy. The menu listed a butter croissant, and we were told we couldn't substitute and had to order a new pastry, which was a letdown. I think being able to share what's included would be very helpful in advance, since my friend did ask about nut content in the other dishes. Overall, Sofi Corner Cafe makes for a great conversational and brunch spot with an ideal aesthetic. Looking to feel transported? Look no further than Sofi. I passed by this place on a long walk and, after taking a peek inside, knew I needed to get myself here for lunch ASAP. The staff here is so sweet and you really cannot beat the menu. Brunch and lunch options abound with influences from France and Morocco. The design is simple, colorful, and clean. You order at the counter, get a number, and then sit wherever you can find space. This isn't a great pick for larger parties - especially during peak hours. This place was an interesting concept (French and Moroccan theme). The place was pretty small but has some interesting character inside the building. We went for brunch and their line was so massive. You have to order at the front then they give you a number so they know where to deliver the food to. Since seating was so bad on this brunch weekend, we decided to sit on their small patio even though it was still slightly cold. The patio was very well decorated and faces a really pretty garden. The service here was super slow in my opinion. We had to wait a long time just to get our tea and cappuccinos. It was also weird how our food didn't come out at the same time. Usually it is proper restaurant etiquette to bring out dishes together. It felt a little weird to wait so long to dig in since we were waiting for everyone to get their dishes. The Moroccan tea came out in an interesting pot with interesting glasses. I also ordered Moroccan eggs for the brunch. The eggs came with a salad, some sourdough bread, and orange slices. I found the sourdough kind of hard. I really liked the salad (I loved the use of corn pieces in the salad). The Moroccan eggs were an ok portion size. I wish the tomato sauce added to the eggs had a bit more spice to it (they were pretty plain and weren't as Moroccan spicy as I felt like it should have been). Oh boy! This was a great vacation treat! It is super cute and though it's small, it uses it's space well. Once you order there's a separate area to grab your drink and then you can head to a table. It has a cute back patio and some seats on the sidewalk but it was brutally hot out so we ate inside. The indoor tables looked out on their garden. We both got quiche which came with a fresh salad. The quiche was creamy and lovely. The people next to us got a tower of pastry and dessert. If we had more friends with us or if we were 10 years younger we would have gotten it too! You give your order at a counter by the door before going to sit and there is not much space there, but we were lucky that they moved people around pretty quick. We came in to put our names down but we're kindly informed that patrons order and pay, then the tables are self service. Kind of like Panera, but with table service? It's a little stressful, waiting for and jumping on a table. We found one, that hadn't been bused yet, as that was the only way to get one. We waited for over half an hour for our food. During that time, the dirty dishes from the previous patrons were never cleared, and half of them were cleared when we were brought our food. The other half stayed on our table until we left. The food was lackluster. I ordered the truffle eggs with cheddar. Sadly, the best part of it was the salad, which was just a few olives, a couple of tomatoes, spring mix and canned corn. The eggs were undercooked, but somehow rubbery, with just a slice of cheese on top, sprinkled with truffle powder. I can't believe they called them truffle eggs. The food was delicious but the portions were very small for the price. The one app combo had one scoop of each eggplants salad and regular salad. Few bites of veggies for $19. This cute little spot on Locust street is a great place for a bite to eat! There's limited seating, and they don't take reservations; but, the food is unique and very tasty! They have lots of vegan, vegetarian, and even gluten free options so there's something for everyone. The only disappointment is the coffee. I've had it multiple times (lattes, usually), and it's always bitter. The tea, however, is much better and feels much more unique.
