I'm always curious how fusion restaurants will deliver. I love the decor and the music. I looked at the menu in advance but not inside pics, so was pleasantly surprised when I entered. I was greeted and seated immediately and first in my party, so no wait for everyone to be seated. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The brisket was delicious and tender and enough on its own without an individual appetizer. Make sure you get a complete bite with rice and the slaw. The other entrees and the apps were a little unbalanced in flavor. They were good sizes but could have been shared, and should have been given how full we were. The black sesame tiramisu was pretty good, but I think I was expecting something different. Definitely a shareable size. We all were pretty full leaving here. read more

This was my first time in the space since it switched from Flannel to DaVinci & Yu, and I was impressed! We split three dishes and were satisfied, with even some leftovers. The first dish to come out was the Caprese Fresh Roll (burrata, Thai basil, roasted tomatoes in rice paper wrap with a balsamic-soy glaze for dipping). The dipping sauce was sooo delicious! Next came the Eggplant Focaccia Pie (breaded & fried eggplant over chopped spinach, fontina cheese, roasted garlic, and agrodolce pepper-drops) which was also really yummy. Finally came the Cacio E Pepe E Miso (pecorino-romano, chitarra pasta, sichuan pepper, dandelion miso, heavy cream, and nori). Don't be intimidated by the sichuan pepper on the menu - it wasn't spicy! Overall it was a great meal. Now I just have to come back to try the Ube Espresso Martini (which I saw someone order near me and stared at longingly as it passed by my table). read more

I also love the very curated cocktail list that Bee the bartender has developed. The happy hour selection is so good and the bar is friendly with new comers and regulars. They have great happy hour bites (bao buns, meat balls and delicious snacks) but oh my gosh. The wagyu beef smash burger is unbelievable. We went to DaVinci and Yu on a Saturday night and completely fell in love. We booked one of the last reservations of the night but were able to be seated about 20 mins before our reservation which was a great first impression. We'd been to Flannel before and were completely blown away by how different and ambient it looked inside the dining room. You almost don't even realize there used to be a campfire theme in there! We did the restaurant week menu plus the shrimp toast because we couldn't pass it up. The shrimp toast was probably the best bite of the night. We couldn't believe how enormous the caesar salad was or how crispy the chicken bao were. Let me tell you about the Italian wedding ramen. The broth was thick and savory, the noodles had the perfect bite, and there were so many fun and tasty additions: meatballs, brisket, rice cakes, etc. Since our reservation was so late we were basically closing the place up. But we weren't rushed or anything. The only downside is that they ran out of the black sesame tiramisu and cannoli since it was literally the end of the night. We did expect this to happen, and they graciously got us two flan instead even though it wasn't part of the restaurant week options. We WILL be back. Wow, really enjoyed the Italian/Asian flavor mash-ups. The dishes featured delicious, bright, surprising tantalizing tastes that were complementary and well blended despite feeling shockingly new. Starting out with a cocktail, i loved the Thai martini- it had lightly sweet ginger flavors tempered with a salty finish that was very enjoyable. We had the Caprese fresh rolls (wrapped in fresh basil leaves), and brisket bao as appetizers- all amazing! The brisket bao was particularly sensational, with flavors of horseradish and cole slaw. As my main dish, I liked the Cacio e pepe e miso- the nori somehow gave it a wonderful fine-grit shellfish flavor that was subtle but spectacular. My wife's grilled fish was cooked perfectly, and was very good, though not as unique as the other dishes. We topped off the evening by sharing an ube tiramisu. The room is also very nice with wall murals. Service was friendly and good, though we had to ask for individual plates for our appetizers, and the decaf espresso wasn't actually prepared as an espresso. From the new Happy Hour menu, we ordered one of the pizzas, peanut noodles and nachos. We loved all of them. There were four of us and there was plenty of food for all of us to enjoy. The mains that we ordered were the brisket and the Italian Asian Wedding Ramen soup and Wagyu Smash Burger. All very flavorful, exciting to eat and delicious. The decor is colorful and fun and it had a few unique seating areas. The entire staff was very accommodating and pleasant. Our waitress was exceptional on helping us decide what to order. This was one of the worst meals I've had. My party and I were extremely disappointed with the food. I ordered kung pao bao and the chicken was very dry and bland. For entree I had the adobo stinco which was also very bland. Although the meat did fall off the bone but there was no flavor to the meat and some parts were a little dry. My friend ordered Italian-Asian wedding ramen and we thought it was a joke. There was no shrimp dumplings, the wagyu meatballs were burnt black and so dry, and the shaved brisket was so dry and burnt that even after sitting in the broth for however long, it was still crunchy because of how burnt it was. For dessert I got the tofu flan and the tofu was not smooth. Overall, not only was the food not well prepared, but the flavors weren't there. This is not a true Italian-Asian fusion. The concept of this place is very interesting being asian Italian fusion. The fusion was definitely there and the dishes were very unique. I went opening weekend and it seemed like they were still working out some of the recipes - a bit bland. The desserts however were great. Unique asian twists on classic Italian staples. Top 5 worst meals of my life. The food, especially the fish, is not fresh. I almost spit out the cod dumplings. The menu is really tragic. I don't think the owner ever tasted these dishes before serving to customers. The pastas were the most edible but still not good. The service was also bad but compared to the food, it's not worth complaining about. Our waitress gave us one glass of water to split between two people.
