ok so i come here every now and then and never felt annoyed like i do now. the food was ok but i just placed an order of over $60 and they gave a hard time giving ketchup and hot sauce to my 8 year old when i sent her to the counter for ketchupztalkin about " we usually charge extra for this" and gave her one little hot sauce and told her they had no ketchup. I went to the counter and i said " excuse me my daughter wants ketchup and you don't have any?" she said " the guy gave you 2 already". So we only were entitled to 2 ketchups for 4 orders of food. This really caught me off guard and turned me off about this place. That was not very nice and with the $60 i spent they could've bought plenty more ketchup. I tried this location (**Amboy Road**) for the first time last week, and I have to admit I was extremely happy. The service was excellent, out waiter was attentive and friendly. The food was fantastic!! From the chips and salsa and fresh guacamole, to my beef empinadas for an appetizer. I went with the steak burrito for my main course which what phenomenal. The best burrito I have ever had. I had to finish it even though I was totally stuffed because it was so damm good... lol During dinner I had the frozen margarita which was also fantastic.. I never was able to try dessert because I had to roll out of the place... My friend had the fish tacos and also enjoyed her meal very much... I really enjoy dining out but ever since covid, most restaurants quality and service went downhill. So it was refreshing to go out to eat and be so happy with my experience. I really liked the restuarant that was there before they opened this place, so I was hoping it would be just as good, if not better. I was very impressed! Went out to happy hour with my coworkers. The seating at the bar is limited when it comes to the happy hour but the bartender was very nice to us and made the experience better. We ordered a pitcher of red sangria and a pitcher of white sangria. Both were delicious. Neither one of them tasted like just juice as I've had in other places.. Their sangria recipe was spot on and hit the spot My Mom & I shared ~ Pineapple Guacamole ~ it's pineapple, jalapeños & garlic, I loved it. I'm all about pineapple in anything lol I ordered a ~ Chipotle Pineapple Margarita ~ perfect combo with a slight kick For Dinner, I opted for the ~ Steak Burrito ~ .. It was too big for me to finish, I was stuffed from the first half lol amazing to say the least... **Dessert ... the whole family didn't get dessert but... my brother chose the ~ Horchata Flan ~ for his girlfriend who he then proposed to The big question was slipped into a fortune cookie and brought out with the dessert... Went here for a quick date night and was not disappointed, we were seated right away and opted to sit outside because the weather was nice. My girlfriend ordered the coconut mojito and loved it, she said everything tasted very fresh and it was excellent. I just ordered a corona so there isn't much for me to say on that. The reason for only leaving 4 stars is because they really need to figure something out for the flies in the back, I grasp that we are outside but they seemed to be fairly consistent and annoying. We got: 6 mini tacos (carnitas, fish, steak, chorizo & potato) *all had great flavor, and perfect 2-3 bite size 2 empanadas (ground beef & cheese) *crispy, delicious flavor, yummy dipping sauces Churros dessert *cant go wrong with churros. Specific request made over the phone are just told "yes", with no intention of making sure they are done. The first response on the phone is to make sure that the CUSTOMER know how they were wrong and what they should do better. Exactly what you want to hear when its late and your delivery is incorrect. Went to Sofia's (Rosebank location) yesterday for Sunday brunch with my family & we had a wonderful meal & time. Sofia's Taqueria was awesome & yes, you must go! :-) . . . We loved that they nicely asked for our IDs & proof of COVID vax & the entire staff wore masks CORRECTLY. As soon as we sat down, we were given delicious chips & salsa and waters. Our very nice waiter, Erick, came by a few minutes later to ask if we were ready to order, when we said we needed more time, he was lovely & said he world return. And he returned in a perfect amount of time (y'all know how sometimes you say you need more time & they either come back in 2 minutes flat or in a very very very long time). We were able to order from the brunch menu (tho we had to go down & ask for that menu) & their regular menu. They also have a kids menu which is great. Here's what we ordered: a pitcher of the traditional margarita: 5 stars & wonderful; "Sofia's Secret" guac (very rustic and Mexican-authentic): excelente; a very picky 5-yr old ordered the strawberry-nutella corn pancakes--her review: '100 stars!'; chicken chilaquiles: fabuloso; avocado tostadas: amazing; fried fish tacos: so delish I wanted to marry it; cheese empanadas for the 2-yr old: yummy!; the 2 vegetarian adults in our fam ordered the "Bay Street Corn" and "Mexican Burrata": both dishes, "so great"; and the veggie quesadilla: "I loved it!" So, yeah, we all loved the food and hope to be back again (& again)! The wait staff was so courteous & helpful & we just hope they keep up the great work. The decor & music were lovely. The prices were moderate (to be expected ofc). The ground floor seemed very busy which was why we were so relieved we were seated on the 2nd floor tho see the downside below. NOTE: if you have someone disabled in your party, contact them first but not sure about access to the upper floor(s). The only downside (and not the restaurant's fault at all) was that when we were seated, there was a large party of people who were extremely loud & distracting. They were so loud, in fact, other diners also took notice. They weren't obnoxious per se but they were very disruptive & in effect were disrespectful to anyone dining there at the same time & area as they were. Went on a date with dinner reservations. Was seated on time, with no weight. We enjoyed an order of guacamole and a pot of mussels; both were of the highest quality. The guacamole was freshly made, creamy and chunky. The muscles were fresh and plump and a light tomato sauce, absolutely delicious. For dinner I had an over stuffed burrito with beef, and my date enjoyed fajitas that he while he ate most, Still was able to bring home his side portions, as he wasn't going to leave them behind. The food is solid. We've had family style takeout on a few occasions. The portions are huge. We recently received four $25 gift cards from a friend as a gift. We dined in for the first time and enjoyed our meal. The service was excellent. Check came to $74. Handed the waitress 3 gift cards and a $15 cash tip. We were told they only take two gift cards maximum. I think that's a pretty ridiculous rule. This left a bad taste in my mouth. They will not be a part of our rotation of Mexican restaurants. Let me just say this is my second time back in a week. And everything was perfection again. . We came in on a busy Friday night, probably should have made reservations, but it was only two of us, and we were pleasantly surprised to be seated within 10 minutes. The place is very clean, everyone is wearing masks, temps taken, all precautions were taken. We were seated and greeted by our waiter within minutes. We ordered the chicken and cheese empanadas, and I gotta say, prob the best I ever had.. no shredded chicken in there instead delicious cubed( best way to describe) chicken, and cheese, crispy, light and flakey.. and with the dipping sauce OMG yum! We also ordered the street corn, very good. The fish tacos are excellent. They were fresh, nice size pieces of fish... we also ordered guacamole, which I must say is delightful. For dessert we ordered the churros, which were a great way to end the meal. All in all, great experience. Great ambiance, music is great, food is great. I highly recommend this place.
