The Staten Island Mall location is way better. Came on a Thursday afternoon with a party of 8. Was seated outside although there was enough for us to sit inside. We were cramped into a 4 person table. there was another table behind us that we were blocking the entrance to and the waiter wasn't able to tend to their table. Two waiters and no one came to check on us, fill our waters, or even give us the correct food orders. Waited around 15 minutes before anyone even took our order. When we ordered, it was 5 different apps and all that came out was 2 nachos, and a quesadilla. The only correct orders were all the drinks. We couldnt even really rate the food since it wasnt even hot when we got them. The wrong order and there wasnt even enough plates and utensils to go around. I am surprised since it was not even busy. No chips or guac for the table. No waters. Needed to add salt.

Haven't been in a while and decided to come by for a small bite and drinks. Honestly was surprised by how much better it was this time around. The margaritas are delicious and even the mocktails are great made with fresh fruit. The blueberry was so so good. Also loved the pineapple gauc. The caramelization added a nice touch of sweetness to complement the heat of jalapeño. Will definitely come back to try some more dishes!

The quesdilla was good but not the best imo but good drinks and friendly ppl. I still really like the bathroom. Secret guac was not spicy will ask for it to be spicy next time hehe

From the food being absolutely delicious and so tasty. It was so filling as well. Thank you to the staff being so nice to us and telling us about the lunch special and such. But we are coming back here again!

My husband and I along with my adult son took me out for " Mother's Day " dinner we had a bad experience with a place my son made reservations for . In A panic , he called " Sofia's Taqueria " and they said to come right in . Besides the warm , friendly , and sweet atmosphere , our waitress " Kaylee " was very attentive to our needs . And the food holy margaritas everything was just delicious . And at the end Kaylee even helped us to capture memories with our iPhone . Thank you for a memorable mom's day !

This is our 3rd visit to Sofia's Taqueria and it has sealed its place as a top dining destination. Bar tender Eric is truly a professional and has excellent customer service down to a science. We sat at the bar (which I never do) because the restaurant was full. He took our drink and food orders and the food came out fast, fresh and hot. Our drinks were the coconut mojito and mango margarita. Then someone cancelled an order for a strawberry mango margarita so we added it to our order and it was delicious; so now I have a favorite drink here :) Dinner was excellent, we had the shrimp and corn empanadas and the crab empanadas as the appetizer. For the main my husband had the chicken fajitas and I had the shrimp tacos. We also had guacamole and chips. Everything was perfect. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation if you plan on coming on the weekend. Enjoy!

Stopped into have brunch the steak and eggs were surprisingly good very well cooked steak was tender and flavorful eggs were perfect.... My coffee cocktail was a really good compliment... The ambience is always energetic.

Chips guacamole, mango salso, blackened chicken burrito.

Our first visit. Sunday Brunch. Great service. Food was fresh and delicious. Only negatives for me is it was freezing in there and the music sucks. Going back to the the sangria andhave some more of that amazing guacamole!

If you like Americanized Mexican food then this is place for you. They use American cheese and smother everything with cream or sauce. I can't taste anything past the mayonnaise and the cream. I do not recommend. The Guac is slightly better but it had pieces of overly ripe (almost rotten) avocados. Their cabbage slaw is also American made with mayonnaise instead of a vinegar base. Service was great.

I got a Sazerac with cognac, I usually get that but this time they didn't have Pierre Ferran for they only had Ansac. I personally don't care for Ansac so I believe it totally changed the taste of the drink. The bartender could tell. I didn't like it and he asked me about four times " Are you sure I change it? It doesn't matter." I'm like if you're gonna ask me that many times then let's change it. So I got a sidecar and that was fire.

SECOND, the food is just as amazing! I was so happy hahah. It's been a long time since I enjoyed a restaurant for more than just their food. I also say this because when my bf's parents ordered the halibut to split, they had brought out their meal in two individual plates that were beautifully plated, you would think they ordered separately! They also took our group picture! :) We ordered 2 orders of the Basement Snacks: For Two, 2 orders of their raw oysters for appetizers. For my entree I ordered the Shrimp Carbonara Rossa with a side of Asparagus. Everything was so good. Their buffalo wings were perfectly marinated and not too saucy, their ribs were so tender and the meat fell straight off the bone! My carbonara was also delicious. We had a lovely night out with a couple who are our long time and good friends and we looked forward to this evening! However, there was a problem at the beginning of the evening that is unacceptable... my husband went to park the car, our friends were waiting at the bar for us, I walked in first. My friend ordered me an Aperol Spritz and my husband a diet coke. My husband does not drink and has been very successful with his sobriety for many years. The bartender, (I later found out her name is Maureen and apparently she is a manager there), misunderstood the drink order so my friend reiterated that we wanted a diet coke and an Aperol Spritz (two separate drinks). The "diet coke" arrived in a soda glass with a lemon wedge (just like a diet coke would) and the Aperol Spritz arrived in a cocktail glass. My husband took a sip of the "diet coke" and asked me if it tasted like there was liquor in it. Sure enough there was. We immediately returned it and the other bartender confirmed that it was a mix of Aperol Spritz with diet coke in the soda glass. My husband confronted the bartender and told her about her grievous mistaken and full disclosure, he said this is a "big f$%ken mistake you made". She took absolutely no responsibility for her error and shouted at him that she "was told to make a diet coke with Aperol Spritz". Truth be told, we clarified the drink order to her and why would she present the "diet coke" in a soda glass if it indeed was a cocktail. She went full "Karen mode" on him when she should have apologized. My request is that she re-trains in customer service and her ability to mix drinks! Like I said above, the food was excellent, the waiter was great, but this error is a serious error. People do make mistakes, but please acknowledge your mistakes and take care with serious issues. The dining experience was great, but I cannot give a 5 star due to the error.

Since we were big fans of those alcohols, we decided to check it out. The walls of the space were covered in colorful murals with Latin American imagery. There were banquettes along either wall with small tables and ottomans scattered in front of them, providing separate, little areas for each group. Large playing cards were fanned across each table with Jack, Queen, King, and Ace cards each having a menu on its backside. There were bar bites, a spirits list, classic cocktails that could be reimaged with your agave spirit of choice (picture a tequila mojito), and even a custom beverages. The creative drinks were not cheap, coming in at around $20 on average, but they certainly were complex! My La Balacara featured Casamigos Mezcal, spiced pear, Luxardo, orange, ginger, chestnut honey, and a chili tincture. I thought the drink sounded outrageous, but, sadly, all I tasted was that honey, the ingredient of which I was least interested. In fact, the smokiness of the mezcal really did not play well with the chestnut honey, leaving it to taste sort of like licorice. I was not a fan. My companion's El Encanto included Casamigos Cristalino, Lillet Blanc, strawberry-lemongrass cordial, guava, and basil, which sounded herbaceous, but really just tasted like a fancy daiquiri. He enjoyed it, but I found it unimpressive. Our drinks were accompanied by a complementary bowl of spiced popcorn, which was delicious. We had come from an earlier dinner, so the snack was as much as I needed. However, the few larger food items that I saw others order all looked great. While I would go back to Perico to try some other items, I felt like I had had better, more affordable cocktails upstairs at Panela.
