A few friends told me I had to try this spot because they know I'm a foodie, and wow, they were right! I came with my husband and our 10-year-old, and from the start the experience was top-notch. We were greeted by Jessica, a warm and friendly lady who also turned out to be our waitress. She sat us in the tent outside, which gave off a beautiful tropical vibe with the flower wall and bamboo furniture. Such a nice touch! Jessica was pleasant, attentive, and checked in often to make sure we were good. Now let's talk about the food. because this is where the magic really happened. We started with the Alcapurria de Guineo (plantain stuffed with ground meat). All I can say is, we should have ordered two! My 10-year-old had the Camarones al Ajillo and polished off the entire plate. My husband ordered the Mar y Tierra de Aguadilla and could not stop saying, "Babe, you have to try this." He was right, the steak was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. For my dish, I went with the Snapper with plantains. Let me just say, I never finish my meal. But this time, clean plate. The only thing left was the fish head! The drinks were also on point, and honestly the whole experience transported me right back to San Juan from earlier this year. Huge thanks to my friends for insisting I try this place, I can now officially declare it's in our rotation. And Jessica, you're awesome! We'll definitely be seeing you again soon.

I came here twice, and every time I love their piononos, plantains are super yummy here yellow always sweet and the tostones always fried deliciously paired with ketchupmayo. Their sopa de platano is yummy and very well seasoned and i love how it's complimentary in the beginning of the meal to open your palate up. Warm welcome and service(servers varies but all nice except one) with keeping the interior cool and calming. Good juicy pernil and chuleta kankan flavor is smokey and love the crust that's dusted with something addictive. Spacious front seating has a bar and additional back room seats. Alcapurria with yuca is my favorite out of all the alcapurrias.

It's a cute hideaway walk from Broad St. when you get inside its such a cozy place the feel of community and culture. They have the spanish music playing and laughter in the air. Of course if your at the bar I had to have a signature Coquito drink and then the meal was so tasty. My brother enjoyed the Bacalaito he never had before. I really love the smiles from the servers and what is a homeland place without having the kids working there setting up water for the people....so cute. I enjoyed.

We had reservations for four (4) for 6:30 but got there early around 5:45pm and decided to sit at the bar, the first thing we noticed was that it took about 5 minutes for the bartender to ask us to place and order. After sitting at the bar we were escorted to our table where we were asked to place our appetizer and main course at the same time; the service felt like it took a while but we were in good company so I can't complain all that much and our waitress did check on us often. My food was phenomenal although I would've added a little more salt to the tostones. We'll be back again in the future as they gain more experience!

When you walk in, the restaurant feels cozy, intimate, and family-like. We were greeted immediately and asked if we had a reservation which, of course, we did. The hostess (who I believe is also the owner) walked us past the bar through a small walkway into another cozy dining area. As she guided us, she chatted with us and asked if it was our first time visiting. We told her yes and shared how excited we were to finally join them. We were a party of four and, honestly, everything on the menu sounded amazing. It was hard to choose because every dish sounded so delicious! The music playing in the background added to the great vibe my son and I even found ourselves dancing in our seats. Our waitress, Brianna, came over quickly and immediately matched our energy. She was attentive, fast, and had some fun one-liners that made the experience even more enjoyable. The food was absolutely delicious full of flavor and perfectly prepared. We enjoyed appetizers, entrées, desserts, and some tasty drinks. Our whole family left very pleased and already planning our next visit. On our way out, we told the owner she should consider opening another location on the South Shore of Staten Island we're hooked! Welcome to the neighborhood!

I absolutely love the food at Boriken! It was flavorful but not salty! It brought a lot of memories from my stay in San Juan & Ponce, PR. We arrived early for our reservations and were seated at the bar. It did take the bartender a little while to take our drink orders but we are patient people. We were seated in the back of the restaurant. I'm not a fan of the lighting. It was a bit dark to see the menu and as the night progressed it just got darker, which I was not comfortable with. And, as more people came in the hotter the room was. The service wasn't too bad just wish their water cups were a bit bigger or leave the canister table side. Overall, I would return because of the food and good service.

We loved this restaurant! Everything was good, the food, the music , the drinks, the atmosphere... all on point! The owner came to us as well at the end to ask us how everything was... we always appreciate the hospitality... that goes a long way! We will be back.

Upon entering my fiancé and I were greeted and seated by the owner Al. Great ambiance. We had a nice chat on how business was going and his ideas to his establishment. We ordered Old San Juan (Old Fashioned) cocktails and a banana alcapurria to start. Drinks were on point and the appetizer very fresh n tasty. We both had the Churrasco with rice and beans. The churrasco was so juicy and tasty. Nice generous portion. Wanted a Tres Leche for dessert but I was to full so ordered it to go. Wish Boriken great success. Service and servers were excellent. Great spot for a date night. We were comped 2 glasses of champagne for our engagement and comped a plantain soup (Delicious)

We loved this place. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was good and you could taste the traditions. The plates were perfect and full of those great flavors you'd expect. I can't wait to go back and try more. The staff was so welcoming. The place itself made you feel like you were back in Puerto Rico. Literally, not one complaint. 10/10

Earlier this year, I overheard the man who I thought could be the owner telling another customer that foot traffic had slowed down since the implementation of congestion pricing, and they weren't sure they were going to keep the place open past the end of May because they weren't making as much money at this location as they had previously. Well, they're still open, but it seems like since the place isn't a moneymaker, it's no longer a priority. I've only been back a handful of times since then because they seem to be taking shortcuts in an effort to save dough. The arroz con gandules is mushy and flavorless; the chicharron are small and dry; the serving of beans is literally two teaspoons of beans and the rest of the (downsized) container is cooking liquid. Every time I go back hoping for a delicious meal, I'm sorely disappointed. Today I found a piece of raw chicken mixed into my vegetables. Turned my stomach immediately. Now I'm just hoping I don't end up with salmonella.

As someone who loves pernil, I have to say that Puerto Ricans make some of the best pernil. It's always well-seasoned, flavorful, and tastes clean rather than overly greasy. The pernil here did not disappoint. The rice and gandules were also very good.
