Near Disney you are going to find a lot of chain restaurants. Getting a meal that hasn't been advertised on national television is going to be hard. Alas near my Lake Buena Vista hotel was a Latin America joint called Sofrito. It was good food in good portions. The place is a fast causal format: you order first at a station near the front and you get a number for your seat. The service was indeed very fast: I got my dish of shredded pork in no time. Did I mention the portions are huge? There was so much protein I was able to top both my salad and rice with it. The yuca fries are solid, topped with chimi churri sauce. The portions for the side dish was much smaller- but not complaining since the entree was gigantic. Bottom Line: A great option if you are like me and looking for something more Mom and Pop and less corporate chain. read more

Our family went to this restaurant in hopes of experiencing a different type of cuisine compared to what we have back in our city. However, my son did not want Latin/Cuban food so he ordered chicken tenders and fries. After taking a couple of bites, he realized the chicken was undercooked in the middle. We all know that eating raw chicken can lead to health issues, so I reported the situation to the staff. The owner was apologetic and decided to refund our money, promising to credit the amount back to our credit card. However, two weeks had passed, and we still hadn't seen any refund. I called the restaurant, and they assured me that it would appear in our account soon. Unfortunately, it never did. I'm writing this to highlight how such situations can happen, where restaurants make promises to return your money but fail to follow through. At this point, we have no choice but reach out to our bank to file the claim. read more

Tasty. Too many choices to try in one sitting despite being the youngest in my group. Many empanadas. Not sure about the nuetella, but wish I was young enough to try the other deserts. Guava juice was good too. I need another round or three to better evaluate how tasty on future trips. Maybe by then the first timer newness will have worn off. Sofrito never disappoints! If you want a small quick meal to go or a full sit down dinner, they have a great menu that can meet your needs. There are multiple cuisines represented and great flavor across all parts of the menu. Staff is always friendly and helpful. If you do choose to dine in, there is both indoor and covered patio dining. Polllo a la plancha and yucca fries are my favorites here, but we haven't had anything we haven't liked yet. Their dishes are flavorful, but not intimidating for those who are visiting or haven't tried these cuisines before. Flavor, not spicy! The Nutella empanada is also good! read more

My daughter and I loved the Cuban sandwich from here 2 years ago! Would definitely order again. Bread was toasted and the topping combinations were perfect! Delicious Venezuelan Breakfast Brunch!!! Quick bits right before heading to the parks! Friendly staff and simple menu. Prices are a little high but your right next to Disney so that is expected Lols. We had the Desayuno Criollo which comes with Ropa vieja (shredded beef), Arepas (fried tortillas), Black beans, and 2 eggs made to your liking. Well good people I was on vacation this past weekend and staying down the road at a very nice Resort. I always come to yelp for them to give me suggestions of nice places to eat nearby because I did not want fried food so I found this place Sofrito's! And I am very glad that I did, very nice restaurant clean the young man upfront, who took my order very nice and accommodating. I had to use the restroom while I was waiting for my food to be prepared and they were spotless clean, now Needless to say my food was absolutely delicious and I will return.! read more

We were in Orlando for a wedding, we are also foodies and Yelp snobs...We searched for restaurants by our hotel and Sofritos was literally 450FT from our hotel, the fact that it was so close and had 4.5 stars with 2,111 reviews made us try it...And as you can see we gave it 5 stars so the short walk paid off dividends!!! We both had the roast pork since we love pork, I had the beans, rice and tostonas and my partner had double rice and the small potatoes... Fresh, seasoned perfectly, great atmosphere and it was super busy for lunch which is a great sign that a restaurant has good food!! Definitely recommend this to those visiting Orlando. Almost overlooked this place on Yelp because I was a bit worried about trying something new but glad we got the chance to dine in for the whole experience. There was a line from the door to the register - fairly busy for a Thursday night. Once you place your order, they will give you a number stand to place on the table. For 5, we ordered: - 4x red sangria: 3/5 - tons of fruits but tasted watered down - tostones: 4/5 - chewy and crispy at the same time - mini Cuban pastelito: 4/5 - flavorful and fluffy - Cuban empanada: 3/5 - was okay, nothing special - churrasco: 5/5 - highly recommend! Meat was seasoned perfectly and sauce complemented well, side of fried yuca and plantains were super yummy - arepa de pabellon: 4/5 - very flavorful, you can taste every ingredient inside - roast pork: 5/5 - huge portion, def a shareable dish, most parts are tender but some parks are overly fried so it was a bit difficult to bite through. Great little place to get some good Cuban food. We sat out on the patio which was nice. We shared the 36 hour pork dinner with three sides and added an order of Tostones. The toast Stoneys came with a dipping sauce. They are a must so delicious. We also enjoyed the pork, it was not at all dry and was very flavorful. For sides we opted for the black beans, yellow, rice, and potatoes. All were very delicious, would definitely like to eat here again in the near future. This place is a hidden gem found right next to Disney. It's a great spot to find Cuban/South American food. They have 2 kiosks where you can order yourself on a computer and they also have someone who can take your order. Indoor has a very industrial, modern vibe. They also have a bar inside. There's plenty of seats outdoors as well and it's covered! We ordered a Cuban empanada with chicken, a Cuban with tostadas, and a pabellon that has shredded beef with lettuce & tomatoes sandwiched between two large tostadas and a side of fried yuca. I can't say enough about Sofrito. I was in town for a Disney vacation and honestly the only thing I cared about was getting a Cuban sandwich. I did a quick local search and Sofrito was 1st to come up. Boy did it deliver! It was a perfectly made sandwich which hit all of the notes I was wanting. My wife tried a Pabellon arepa and it was sooooooo incredibly tender and delicious. We went twice during our stay and that's what she got both times. They also have 3 hot sauces to add to your dishes. I tried them all and they were truly all delicious. I love spicy, and the spiciest one really was spicy. I thought I took a picture of them, but apparently I didn't - make sure to try them though. Sofrito Latin Cafe is a must stop location if you're in Orlando. read more

Came in on Sunday. Upon walking in it had the feel of Zaza's Cuban Cafe. That sort of fastfood cuban food feel. Since you grab a menu, order with the host, pay your given a number you sit down and your food is brought to your table. Not my favorite style of eating, but it works for an every now and then visit. This was the last day of our Orlando vacation, and the last meal while we're here-- aside from snacks and leftovers in our hotel. We were with the in-laws so the table had a lot of orders including: Sopa de Pollo, a Cuban, Ham and Swiss Cheese Sandwich, Chicken Fingers, an appetizer I can't remember, and Camarones al Ajillo x 2. Overall, the food was great. A couple critiques here and there (mainly about the lack of flavor in the rice) but overall it was great. The mojito and gin/tonics were refreshing as well. read more

I travel for a living. I know the challenges of finding a place to eat when you don't know the area. I resist going to chains.... I'll eat there where I'm home. But I like to try something new. This place is where to go. I hate when I let myself get "hangry". I love this place. Easy to place your own order, or they will take it for you. The menu has something for everyone. You rarely see a Caipirinha on a menu in the United States. And their burger was so huge. I had to take half of it to go. I highly recommend this place. Super friendly, too! read more

As tourists, we wanted to try something with flavor and we scored! Decided to share so we could try a bit of everything, we ordered the Cuban beef empanada, arepa pernil, churasco with sweet plantains, yellow rice, and fired yuca! The empanada and churasco were my favorite, the arepa was also really good, I just felt it was missing something, or maybe too much of a good thing? This place has to be my favorite quick service restaurant in the area. You can order at one of three kiosks and also have the opportunity to order at a podium with a person. I'm super picky with Cuban food, especially since I lived in Miami in South Florida for many years and living here. First of all, the plates are HUGE and really one meal could feed two people. We had the pork and it was awesome! Recommend it. The only downside for me is having to order off a kiosk and not have table service. Otherwise, great ambiance and we sat outside on the covered patio with string lights and Latin music. Returned many times prior and each time had the Cuban empanada but the last few times it would seem that the recipe has changed. It's not as yellow inside as it has been over a year ago. It seems to have a more reddish color and different taste. So thought maybe I haven't been ordering the right type of empanadas. This round tried every empanadas on a scale of 1-5, 5 being best. Argentina- 2 the outside was doughy and the potatoes inside didn't really care for Colombian- 3 liked the crunchy fried exterior and the chicken was savory Cuban -3 the airy, flakey exterior is my fav but wish the OG yellowish flavor chicken was back Venezuela - 3 if you don't want chicken in your empanadas this is the one - slightly sweet yet savory cheese middle Nutella dessert empanadas -4 NUTELLA inside, fried on the outside, powdered sugar sprinkled on top. Good was great! It was a little pricy but we got super full from what we got. That being said, the place is nice, a little cheaply made for the price of things and there wasn't a lot of ppl that walk around asking if you need anything. Went to this place for breakfast while visiting Orlando with family. The food was delicious and the portions are generous. We wanted to order some of the items they had on their screen but unfortunately, it was only for dinner. I don't know why it took so long for us to try this place, but I am glad we did! The food is delicious! We have been twice so far and I got the same thing, pork with red beans, yellow rice, and a salad! OMG! So good! I even tried a strawberry smoothie and it was so good and refreshing! You order at the kiosk or with an employee, take a number, and find a seat (inside or out), they bring you your food and drinks but also have a water dispenser outside for your convenience. Service is quick, friendly, and efficient. My only complaint is that it is so popular that parking is hard. They do have a parking lot but there are a few spots designated for the store next door and Starbucks. Otherwise, we highly recommend it! read more

The delicious arepa i ate, the interior of this space, and the friendly and patient staff, all the reasons why you need to visit this cafe! This restaurant is probably going to be one of the main reasons why i would go to Orlando again! I stopped in here for takeout while staying nearby for business. The Yelp reviews looked promising so I gave it a try. When I arrived they have a sign out front saying to be patient with their employees as they are currently under staffed much like many places these days. The interior is nice and clean. You can place your order at the counter and sit down if you are dining in. The menu board overhead denotes what is vegetarian which is helpful. I ordered all sides, white rice, black beans and sweet plantains. I waited less than 5 minutes and my order was ready. The food was very good. The rice perfectly cooked and the black beans had great flavor. The sweet plantains were also very tasty. The service was great and the food was quite good. This is the kind of place that makes you feel like you are eating at home. So many families were here sitting at tables, enjoying a great meal together. A very nice vibe. I enjoyed it so much that I visited twice during my week in Orlando, and had leftovers both times. The employees are very nice. They have a large covered patio for outdoor eating. The menu features foods from several Latin countries. You won't be disappointed with the cocktails either. On my last trip- $43 for an empanada, tequeńos and a patacon just doesn't sound right for Venezuelan food, and I come from living in Miami where restaurants are supposed to be more expensive. Add a tip and you're paying over $50 for street food. That's wild.

I did have a picture of my ID on my phone, but instead of accepting that, I was told they wanted to write down my driver's license number. Given the amount of identity theft and fraud happening today, I was not comfortable providing my driver's license number for someone to write down. They offered me a refund, and I ultimately left without the food I had ordered. I understand that businesses have policies regarding identification, but the entire experience was frustrating and lacked customer service. I followed their instructions to order online, paid over $100, arrived at the stated pickup time, and still walked away without my food. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend Tropical Mofongo. The customer service and handling of the situation were extremely disappointing.

This was my first time experiencing a buffet for hispanic food and for this price point in Orlando, this is an amazing value deal. The server regularly brought us out silverware, napkins, and refilled our water. The place is decorated very fun and plays latin music which was lovely Not only was there an unlimited assortment of lunch foods, but an entire bar of fresh toppings for tacos (or rice bowls) and made to order desserts which were included for free! Not everything on the buffet line was the best but given the amount of options, price, and how good the great items are this is still worth a five star rating. I unfortunately did not take pictures of the food before I began devouring everything in sight to the point of near-collapse, but I will do a quick rundown of the buffet highlights: The best meats were the fajita steak, chicken, and shrimp made fresh in cast iron skillets, as well as the chicken lengua which was super flavorful and tender. The chicken mole and beef tri tip were room temperature despite sitting on hot plates. The tri tip also varied widely in doneness throughout the slices and not super tender. The rice pudding was pretty standard, and the tres leches cake was weird as they crumbled the cake into pieces before soaking it.

Staff at Sofrito have asked me to write a review. Here it is: We was attracted by the name "Sofrito", especially because my two companions are actually Puerto Rican and they were craving for Puerto Rican food. First thing we asked was for the famous Mofongo, they said that they have it. We ordered a Shrimp mofongo and a Pork mofongo, myself I ordered Roast Pork. While we wait for it we got some empanadas that were delicious, and other appetizers really good. When we got the entrees there was the problem. The mofongo was cold and we doubt about it that it was made on premises. About my roast pork, I was not able to eat it. I try a couple of pieces and I left it in the plate almost untouched. I have never had such a hard rock pieces of pork with a microwave reheated test. Because I am honest i told the server right away. We ended up not eaten our entrees because my companions had similar issues. I was drinking beer and my companions coconut soda. Because the bad test of the food was in our mouth before we left, we ask for one coconut soda to wash it down. We paid our bill in full, even if we did not eat the food, and we left. Can you believe that they rushed out asking us to pay for the last can of soda? Obviously this people does not have any restaurant experience ! Any restaurant if you leave the food untouched will have some kind of compensation, some others will not even charge you for the food you did not eat !. But they didn't care ! they still want to get paid 1,50 for the soda. UNBELIEVABLE!!! read more

I went to Sofrito Latin Cafe for lunch today and had an incredible experience. This place knows how to make real Latin food that hits all the right spots - everything was fresh, flavorful, and made you feel like family. I tried the churrasco steak with yuca and maduros. The steak was perfectly grilled with a nice char on the outside but still juicy inside. It came with this amazing chimichurri sauce that had just the right amount of garlic and herbs. The yuca was creamy and buttery, and those sweet plantains were caramelized to perfection. Even though it was busy during lunch rush, the energy was positive and welcoming. We visited this place three years ago and had a fantastic experience, so we were excited to return. Unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing. When we ordered lunch to go, we encountered several issues during pickup, but we assumed it was just a one-time problem. We decided to give it another try and came in for dinner today. Sadly, things only got worse. Winni took our order incorrectly, was noticeably rude, and overcharged us. When we asked her to correct the mistake, she responded with an attitude rather than an apology. When the food finally arrived, it was extremely bland and lacked any flavor. To top it off, we ordered dessert, but it was never brought out--we had to specifically ask for it. Overall, this visit was nothing like our first and left us very disappointed. For starters, don't expect a server, you order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Ordered a steak dish and the pice was small and dry after I wanted it cooked medium. The small piece I got was $15 for lunch. *Important - Do not take your significant other to this place! Gentleman at the counter kept pushing salsa dance lessons and after 3 times of my wife telling him no thank you, he asked if she was Puerto Rican and then followed that up with asking if her and I were together. I recently discovered a fantastic Cuban restaurant located close to Disney, thanks to a colleague who took me there. I ordered a Cuban Sandwich and was blown away by how delicious it tasted. The portion size was generous and the price was reasonable. The bread was perfectly crispy on the outside and packed with meat. I also had a Cheese Empanada which came with a delicious cilantro sauce. The service at the restaurant was quick and efficient, and the ambiance was relaxed and comfortable. The worse service in Orlando a -10. Place was empty and we had to wait over 30 minutes for a coffee. Spoke to the Manager and still did not get service. Soup was spilled all over the plate, food was totally cold after they finally brought it. I have never, ever received such an unprofessional and insufficient service. Asked for silverware after finally the food came and had to stand up and go get it myself because they never brought it. I give this restaurant a -10 and then some. read more

Luis who works there went above and beyond for me with my order especially when uber eats messed up and canceled my order. Not only was the employee working there (Luis) amazing but the food was fantastic. I ordered the lomo Saltado and pollo a la brasa. The meats were cooked to perfection and had amazing flavors. Order at the counter and food is brought to the table. Portions are a bit small but food was good. Prices were fair. Restaurant was very clean and very busy. Staff moved quickly and it was difficult to get attention when there were issues. Sad that bread wasn't served with the meal. Ive been to a lot of Cuban restaurants given I live in Tampa and not getting bread is really unusual. Still, an authentic meal with some other Latin menu items. read more

There are many options for Latino food in Florida. Being a chef and one that cooks and eats this type of cuisine regularly, I can be critical at time. This was not bad at all. I enjoyed the outside cafe area, and the service was good. Prices were not bad for the area and the connivence of several hotels within walking distance. This is the 3rd time I order empanadas from here and it's been the same so it's no mistake , they're cheap with the meat . Unfortunately, almost everything was downhill from there. Pea puree would not be my choice for a base, and the fingerling potatoes were overcooked but had good flavor. A side of brussel sprouts came with three of the four dishes we ordered, and they were overcooked and almost flavorless. Mushrooms came on two of the dishes and they had no salt or seasoning. My daughter's chicken was exceptionally dry but she said it was ok. Her fingerling potatoes had good flavor but we're off-putting because they were drenched in sauce and mushy. The mushroom risotto with scallops and pancetta was thick and creamy. The flavor was good, the scallops small, and the pancetta in small cubes. They should not have put the bland mushrooms across the top. The bone in pork chop was a little tough, and the bleu cheese flavor hits you over the head. Avoid if you don't like bleu cheese. The fingerling potatoes were perfect with this dish. The four of us were exceedingly uncomfortable every second we were in the restaurant because I would venture to guess the air conditioning was set to 60°. Two of us had jackets on with our hoods up in August. Our server explained that they keep it this cold because when it's hot outside, the humidity makes it damp inside. I argue that they could easily still turn it up a few degrees and the humidity wouldn't shoot up too much for comfort. When your check arrives, figure out the tip on your own instead of using their suggestion since they include taxes in their suggested tip. Tip should always be figured from the subtotal. Surprisingly, they did not even wish us a happy anniversary, and I made a note on the reservation. I read that Mythos will be closing within a year. If they are updating and not changing it completely, I hope they fix these issues because it really did have a great vibe. As it stands, I would not return, but hope you have a positive experience. Remember a sweater! :)
