Allow me to add to the 1,700 positive reviews...Good spot for food from all over Latin American, and they mean it, Colombian, Cuban, Puerto Rican, and several others... Chill casual spot...walk up, order your food, drinks (libations), find a table and enjoy. Food was good and service was prompt. I'd recommend perusing the menu Before getting there - that way you don't take 10 minutes to figure out what you want and cause a riot with the folks on line behind you. I'm speaking for a friend who it happened to, not I for sure... To start I had a Cuban Empanada - good stuff. For the main course I had the pernil (roast pork) which was rather tasty and moist (yes I said it, "moist"). All of the sides were on point. To satisfy the thirst I had sangria - quite nice. A bit more on the wine side, but I wasn't complaining. Good atmosphere - it's a Latin place and at first there was soft rock music in the background which threw me off, but they quickly recovered with some reggaeton and other Latin melodies..I mean it is a Latin casual dining restaurant, right??!.. Next time I'll mosey on over to the bar - dine there and chill longer... read more

Mic drop restaurant!!! THANK YOU YELP for leading me to one of my new favorite restaurants! The delicious food was hot, tasty , fresh and served within 15 minutes. OMG, the flavors were made me want to say "Well slap my a** and call me Sally". Soooooo delicious. I seriously want to go back and eat a different item each time and see if everything tastes like it was prepared for a cooking contest! Also, their selection of Hot Sauces were hot and delicious and didn't trash you mouth by being too hot, they were perfect! The service was great. Our food was delivered in a timely manner and service was excellent. You do order off a screen and take a number to your table and the food is delivered to you. Table maintenance was great and empty plates were cleared almost immediately! The open seating was surprisingly comfortable and tables weren't packed tight. The noise level was very comfortable and definitely not too loud even though the restaurant was full. I've attached MY pictures and their online published pictures-EXACTLY the same! This place was great and I will visit it again and again!!! I didn't partake this time but their 'Latin' cocktails looked delicious and will definitely be included in my next visit! read more

The first time there I didn't understand the set up so there's that. You can't just go to the bar and order a drink while you wait for the rest of your party. Other than that, the food was great, the outside patio with fans and atmosphere is super. The service, once you've stood in line to place your order, was exceptional. Passing through the Orlando area & we were feeling a little peckish so we decided to stop at this Latin Café. Interesting set up: when you come in, you place an order via a touchscreen. If you're planning on staying you take a number and you attach that number to your order. Then you sit down and they will bring the food to you. We ordered the Columbian chicken empanadas. Interesting... it comes in a hard corn dough. We found that to be overpowering to the shredded chicken, which was flavorful in itself. They came with a jalapeño relish for dipping. Next time we'll try one of the other types of empanadas that are not made with corn. On the other hand, my sandwich was absolutely divine! I had the Pernil handheld, which is roast pork. What made this so flavorful was the cilantro garlic mojo on the pressed Cuban bread. Yum!! The sandwich is huge as well so I could only eat half of it. Also, had the papa criollo which is roasted baby potatoes. Hard on the outside & soft on the inside. Lovely... Lastly the Café con Leche was very flavorful. I didn't find it bitter at all and I tried it without sugar. Hubby added a little sugar to his cup, and enjoyed it very much that way. Next time we're passing through Orlando, I could see us stopping here even if it's just for takeout. read more

Sofrito Latin Cafe was just a walks away from my hotel and I was pleasantly surprised at the ambience, friendly customer service, and amazing food! I came back everyday thereafter haha. I walked-in on a weekday to find two off their staffs say good morning! You can order food and drinks via their tablet upfront or order with their staff. I couldn't read the menus on their screen (bad eyes) so I opt in to order on the tablet. The café caters to breakfast/brunch/lunch options plus a variety of coffees and smoothies. That week I tried all their empanadas. From Argentinian, Valenzuelan, and Cuban! Each day I had a cuban coffee as well. Their food is hot and packed with flavor. You can tell the food was definitely made with care haha. The Cuban coffee is a strong sweet espresso and literally, one is enough. The caffeine content is high and oh so yummy haha. Weekends seem to be busy but you'll still get the same friendly service. Got time on the weekdays? Stay awhile, you won't regret it! read more

When I travel I like to try as many different places as I can! Very rarely I go to the same place twice in a row... but I would have gone to this place everyday on my 6 day vacation. THE FOOD HERE IS MUY RICO!! It was seriously a highlight of our trip... we were doing our little happy food dance the whole time during the meal!!! I'm almost tearful writing this knowing I will not be back there because it's on the other side of the country... Everything we had was so freaking amazing. I loved the guava juice, the cachapa, plantains, arepas, roasted pork ( I don't normally like pork but it was highly recommended) and the tres leches cake! PLEASE COME TO CALIFORNIA... I usually love eating here and it's a frequent recommendation I suggest to friends and visitors. The food came out pretty quick considering the sign outside said they were short staffed. They must have expected a large crowd for the Saturday afternoon when i was there. I ordered my usual, the Churrasco. They asked for the cook of my steak and i asked for medium rare. Yes i know it's a skirt steak and pretty difficult to cook that temp but this the first time it wasn't cooked to perfection. My steak was very well done and the chimichurri was overly salted. I ordered a side of yellow rice, sweet plantains, and fried yuca. I was disappointed the yuca was barely room temperature. I didn't want to make a fuss since this was suppose to be a quick lunch. My boyfriend ordered the pork Patacon and it was huge and piping hot. The meat was very flavorful and the fried plantains were crisp and the perfect thickness. Overall I'll still suggest this place and visit again but will be more inclined to try out other things on the menu. read more

On e you go to this restaurant you'll see why it's highly rated. It's clean, service is great, plenty of different seating options inside or out, food is amazing and set at a fair price. I've been here multiple times, always impressed. This time ordered the pulled beef entre, chicken soup and the Argentinan beef empanada. This place is muy deliciosa! Even takeout that isn't the best way to experience a restaurant was outstanding. We had several things - roast pork, steak, a burger, a cachapa, various sides. It was all good. Roast pork, fried and boiled yucca and the red beans were standouts to me, and I would probably drink the cilantro garlic mojo given an opportunity. This was the best breakfast of our stay! The food was so fresh, delicious and bursting with flavor. The coffee was exactly what I was craving made perfectly. We had our little one with us and she enjoyed the ham croquettes they were perfect for her and we loved them too. I was told about this restaurant by my hotel staff at the Delta Hotel. Great Staff, Good Hotel with LOUSY ROOM KEYS that have to be reprogrammed 13 times every 30 hours. (different review coming for them) The Staff at Sofrito was FANTASTIC and FRIENDLY. I ordered the Churrasco, medium rare, and that is EXACTLY how it came out. It was perfectly seasoned and the chimichurri was VERY WELL put together. The white rice with black beans was absolutely perfect...reminded me of my abuelita's cooking...LITERALLY brought a smile to my face, as I closed my eyes and envisioned her preparing dinner in the kitchen when I was a child... The sweet plantains, (maduros), were PHENOMENAL, with exactly the amount of crunchy sweetness on the outside from the caramelization and sweet tenderness on the inside. The Coconut Flan was VERY GOOD...not as good as my sister-in-law's, but REALLY CLOSE!!! GOING BACK TONIGHT FOR DINNER!!! read more

We came from out of town for the local amusement parks. After a full day at one of the parks, in the rain and the heat, we were tired and looking for a place to eat where we could eat well but eat somewhat light. This restaurant came up in the search on Yelp, and we saw that they had Cuban sandwiches. We decided to give it a try. We have had Cuban sandwiches before and liked them very much. We also tried one of the appetizers which was kind of like a potato meatball. We can't remember the name. The sauce that came with it was also very good and we dipped our French fries in the sauce after we finished the appetizer. There were four of us and we were able to split two Cuban sandwiches among the four of us and it was the perfect amount of food for us. The sandwiches were delicious. We felt like this was the perfect food to end our day. We would highly recommend this restaurant. read more

By far one of the best Spanish food spots outside of Miami.... Having been raised Cuban I know ow good Cuban food and I know how to eat.... This place was clean well lighted the girls were friendly and explained all the dishes to my non Spanish speaking friends. We loved it so much we ate there 3 more times that weekend. read more

Ambiance is wonderful and the menu has a lot of great options but that where it ends. We had the Carrasco which was super salty. Also, ordered an Arepa Saltado. The meat was hard and the arepa was thin and firm like a disc. So disappointing. The beef and chicken Argentinian empanadas lack flavor. I hope it was just an off day for the place because I heard great things. Will be back again to give it a second chance. Hopefully that turn my opinion of the place. read more

Loved this place. Ordered 5 things. Cortadito was amazing. Churros took forever and we had to go catch a show. Tried canceling and they refunded me and gave me the churros on the house. That is great customer service! I don't remember if the two savory pastries are arepas or empanadas. The colombian one was stale. The venezuelan was freshly fried. Delicious! The tripleta was not good. Barely had any potato sticks. The ham? Just look at it. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area. read more

Awesome find! Friendly staff meets you to order/pay. Good variety of dishes at decent prices. Open space, relaxed atmosphere. There were several families as well as a few solo travelers and what appeared to be locals. A good mix. I had the Peruvian chicken. It came with salad (with a delicious house dressing), and I chose plantains, yellow rice and red beans as sides. The chicken was perfect. I forgot to order any sauce to go with it, but it was great by itself and the dressing from the salad. Yellow rice very good, plantains sweet and moist. Red beans were good, though I'd probably choose black beans next time around. Overall, a delicious, filling, healthy but not heavy meal, about $20 with tax. read more

This place has the best Latin food. We liked it so much we came back a second time in our week stay in Orlando. This time we had the Pescado Frito and the Petacon with Fried Yuca Al Cilantro Mojo and for dessert we had the Nutella Empanda. The fish was cooked perfectly. The Nutella Empanadas are to die for. You have to come here just for them. We also loved the Roast Pork, which was so juicy and had the best flavor. Basically everything we tried here, we liked. Their name went from Q'Kenan restaurant to Q'Kenan Steakhouse so maybe now they just raised all the prices, I don't know. Their most expensive patacon on the menu is the one with Picańha and it says $17...yet I got charged 25.90. Regardless of how good something is, there shouldn't be a $9 difference from what is on the menu. That is absurd. On my last trip- $43 for an empanada, tequeńos and a patacon just doesn't sound right for Venezuelan food, and I come from living in Miami where restaurants are supposed to be more expensive. Add a tip and you're paying over $50 for street food. That's wild.

When I went to pick up the order, I was asked to provide identification. Unfortunately, I had left my ID at the hotel where I was staying. I did have a picture of my ID on my phone, but instead of accepting that, I was told they wanted to write down my driver's license number. Given the amount of identity theft and fraud happening today, I was not comfortable providing my driver's license number for someone to write down. They offered me a refund, and I ultimately left without the food I had ordered. I understand that businesses have policies regarding identification, but the entire experience was frustrating and lacked customer service. I followed their instructions to order online, paid over $100, arrived at the stated pickup time, and still walked away without my food. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend Tropical Mofongo. The customer service and handling of the situation were extremely disappointing.

This was my first time experiencing a buffet for hispanic food and for this price point in Orlando, this is an amazing value deal. The server regularly brought us out silverware, napkins, and refilled our water. The place is decorated very fun and plays latin music which was lovely Not only was there an unlimited assortment of lunch foods, but an entire bar of fresh toppings for tacos (or rice bowls) and made to order desserts which were included for free! Not everything on the buffet line was the best but given the amount of options, price, and how good the great items are this is still worth a five star rating. I unfortunately did not take pictures of the food before I began devouring everything in sight to the point of near-collapse, but I will do a quick rundown of the buffet highlights: The best meats were the fajita steak, chicken, and shrimp made fresh in cast iron skillets, as well as the chicken lengua which was super flavorful and tender. The mexican rice, beans, fajitas, plantains, and street corn were also excellent. Fresh quesadillas, chips, and corn tortillas on standby with homemade queso and salsas. The flan and mini churros were the best I've ever had. Super rich, decadent Carmel flan. Mini churros hot and crisp on the outside, filled with a gooey soft milk chocolate center. They were delicious. Items that were disappointing: the tamales, mini chicken flautas, and beef chimichangas were just okay, lacking the seasoning and flavor that other dishes had. The beef barbacoa was not as tender or flavorful as the shredded chicken surprisingly. The mixed seafood was itself a mixed bag with some shrimps / scallops overcooked to much while others were perfectly cooked. The chicken mole and beef tri tip were room temperature despite sitting on hot plates. The tri tip also varied widely in doneness throughout the slices and not super tender. The rice pudding was pretty standard, and the tres leches cake was weird as they crumbled the cake into pieces before soaking it.

Staff at Sofrito have asked me to write a review. Here it is: We was attracted by the name "Sofrito", especially because my two companions are actually Puerto Rican and they were craving for Puerto Rican food. First thing we asked was for the famous Mofongo, they said that they have it. We ordered a Shrimp mofongo and a Pork mofongo, myself I ordered Roast Pork. While we wait for it we got some empanadas that were delicious, and other appetizers really good. When we got the entrees there was the problem. The mofongo was cold and we doubt about it that it was made on premises. About my roast pork, I was not able to eat it. I try a couple of pieces and I left it in the plate almost untouched. I have never had such a hard rock pieces of pork with a microwave reheated test. Because I am honest i told the server right away. We ended up not eaten our entrees because my companions had similar issues. I was drinking beer and my companions coconut soda. Because the bad test of the food was in our mouth before we left, we ask for one coconut soda to wash it down. We paid our bill in full, even if we did not eat the food, and we left. Can you believe that they rushed out asking us to pay for the last can of soda? Obviously this people does not have any restaurant experience ! Any restaurant if you leave the food untouched will have some kind of compensation, some others will not even charge you for the food you did not eat !. I went to Sofrito Latin Cafe for lunch today and had an incredible experience. This place knows how to make real Latin food that hits all the right spots - everything was fresh, flavorful, and made you feel like family. I tried the churrasco steak with yuca and maduros. The steak was perfectly grilled with a nice char on the outside but still juicy inside. It came with this amazing chimichurri sauce that had just the right amount of garlic and herbs. The yuca was creamy and buttery, and those sweet plantains were caramelized to perfection. Even though it was busy during lunch rush, the energy was positive and welcoming. What impressed me was the attention to detail. My coffee came in a proper cup and saucer, the bread was warm, and everything was seasoned perfectly. We visited this place three years ago and had a fantastic experience, so we were excited to return. Unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing. When we ordered lunch to go, we encountered several issues during pickup, but we assumed it was just a one-time problem. We decided to give it another try and came in for dinner today. Sadly, things only got worse. Winni took our order incorrectly, was noticeably rude, and overcharged us. When we asked her to correct the mistake, she responded with an attitude rather than an apology. When the food finally arrived, it was extremely bland and lacked any flavor. To top it off, we ordered dessert, but it was never brought out--we had to specifically ask for it. Overall, this visit was nothing like our first and left us very disappointed. For starters, don't expect a server, you order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Ordered a steak dish and the pice was small and dry after I wanted it cooked medium. The small piece I got was $15 for lunch. *Important - Do not take your significant other to this place! Gentleman at the counter kept pushing salsa dance lessons and after 3 times of my wife telling him no thank you, he asked if she was Puerto Rican and then followed that up with asking if her and I were together. I recently discovered a fantastic Cuban restaurant located close to Disney, thanks to a colleague who took me there. I ordered a Cuban Sandwich and was blown away by how delicious it tasted. The portion size was generous and the price was reasonable. The bread was perfectly crispy on the outside and packed with meat. I also had a Cheese Empanada which came with a delicious cilantro sauce. The service at the restaurant was quick and efficient, and the ambiance was relaxed and comfortable. The worse service in Orlando a -10. Place was empty and we had to wait over 30 minutes for a coffee. Spoke to the Manager and still did not get service. Soup was spilled all over the plate, food was totally cold after they finally brought it. I have never, ever received such an unprofessional and insufficient service. Asked for silverware after finally the food came and had to stand up and go get it myself because they never brought it. I give this restaurant a -10 and then some. read more

Luis who works there went above and beyond for me with my order especially when uber eats messed up and canceled my order. Not only was the employee working there (Luis) amazing but the food was fantastic. I ordered the lomo Saltado and pollo a la brasa. The meats were cooked to perfection and had amazing flavors. Order at the counter and food is brought to the table. Portions are a bit small but food was good. Prices were fair. Restaurant was very clean and very busy. Staff moved quickly and it was difficult to get attention when there were issues. Sad that bread wasn't served with the meal. Ive been to a lot of Cuban restaurants given I live in Tampa and not getting bread is really unusual. Still, an authentic meal with some other Latin menu items. read more

There are many options for Latino food in Florida. Being a chef and one that cooks and eats this type of cuisine regularly, I can be critical at time. This was not bad at all. I enjoyed the outside cafe area, and the service was good. Prices were not bad for the area and the connivence of several hotels within walking distance. I'd try them again next time I'm in the vicinity. read more

I ordered Colombian empanadas only to find that it was all potato and no meat . This is the 3rd time I order empanadas from here and it's been the same so it's no mistake , they're cheap with the meat . My daughter's chicken was exceptionally dry but she said it was ok. Her fingerling potatoes had good flavor but we're off-putting because they were drenched in sauce and mushy. The mushroom risotto with scallops and pancetta was thick and creamy. The flavor was good, the scallops small, and the pancetta in small cubes. They should not have put the bland mushrooms across the top. The bone in pork chop was a little tough, and the bleu cheese flavor hits you over the head. Avoid if you don't like bleu cheese. The fingerling potatoes were perfect with this dish. The four of us were exceedingly uncomfortable every second we were in the restaurant because I would venture to guess the air conditioning was set to 60°. Two of us had jackets on with our hoods up in August. Our server explained that they keep it this cold because when it's hot outside, the humidity makes it damp inside. I argue that they could easily still turn it up a few degrees and the humidity wouldn't shoot up too much for comfort. When your check arrives, figure out the tip on your own instead of using their suggestion since they include taxes in their suggested tip. Tip should always be figured from the subtotal. Surprisingly, they did not even wish us a happy anniversary, and I made a note on the reservation. I read that Mythos will be closing within a year. If they are updating and not changing it completely, I hope they fix these issues because it really did have a great vibe. As it stands, I would not return, but hope you have a positive experience. Remember a sweater! :)
