It's a nice establishment all around in terms of looks, but wasn't a fan of the service. It's not a full service restaurant if that is what you are expecting. You have to place your order before sitting down. I got to try a little of everything and I unfortunately was not impressed by 80 percent of the food. Everything was lacking flavor but the Plantains and the one empanada I ordered. read more

First time here and the reviews I've gotten from people and just reading on Yelp have not disappointed. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. The place is spacious inside and out on the patio. The patio has fans for those hot days. There's a full bar inside with amazing bartenders. I ordered: Happy Hour Sangria- Monday through Thursday from 4-6pm Fried Yuca- so delicious and flavorful with the chimichurri sauce. Arepa Pelua- overstuffed and messy but I loved it. I really like the service and food here. I. Formally don't eat Cuban food but this place hit the spot. When you enter you order your food and then have a seat and they'll bring it out to you. During our stay in Orlando, we came here twice. Nice place, well decorated and very clean. They also have outdoor seating if you want to have fresh air. On our first visit, I ordered the Pabellon arepas and loved that it's very well-seasoned, but the only downside was the beef was pretty dry. My BF got the Lomo Saltado and the meat was juicy and overall very tender and seasoned well. 2nd visit, I ordered the Steak and Eggs, the steak was perfectly cooked and not salty, and the chimichurri was spectacular and complimented my meal. My BF wanted to give the Pabellon arepas another try and this time the meat was not dry which was great. We also got the Nutella Empanada for dessert and was delightful. Employees are nice and attentive and we enjoyed our time eating here on both occasions. I will def recommend this place to my friends and family read more

Came here for quick bite, left feeling like I got way more than I expected. Staff was friendly, service was quick, and vibes were great. We got the pelua arepa and the Venezuelan empanada with beef. Both items were super delicious and definitely the stand out of our trip to Orlando. The empanada had a strong beefy flavor with that very mildly sweet fried dough. It was crisp and perfectly textured. The sauce provided a good balance and I absolutely loved it. However, the empanada itself was amazing without the sauce; strong contender by itself. The arepa was decent size, and was very well seasoned. The texture of the arepa itself was very pleasing, not dry and with just enough moisture. I think it would've been great with a little bit of spice, but I thought it was great as is. Overall, strong dishes and were a good way to start off the morning. 5/5 stars. read more

I was in Orlando for a couple of days and not feeling well. Found this place had good reviews. Tried the Dominican soup, practically cured me haha. Really good broth, I know they make it here, plus it had a soup bone in it, the real deal. I got this 2 days in a row it was so good. Sat outside, nice area. Charrusco steak was EXTREMLY chewy. The empanadas were nothing special. The yucca was boiled but a bit under cooked. Honestly it felt like a tourist trap, pictures of the food look amazing but the reality left me disappointed. I will say I have had way better food in Orlando. read more

Let me start by saying I love Latin food I've been to some incredible restaurants across the US and abroad. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed with this place. I placed a pick-up order and tried to call ahead to add some extra flavoring like hot sauce or chimichurri--but they don't answer their phone once you've ordered online. So, if you want any extras, you have to ask in person. The chimichurri sauce was good and had a nice flavor, but the hot sauce was an extra $2-$4 per side, even just for regular sour cream, which was a bit disappointing for a Latin restaurant. The tostones were completely flavorless, which was really underwhelming. Overall, decent food, but a few things felt overpriced and lacking in flavor. read more

Ordered: Cuban Chicken Empanada (~$5) Cuban Beef Empanada (~$5) Churrasco (~$27): grilled skirt steak topped with chimichurri sauce with 3 sides - white rice, black beans, plantains Frescolita soda (~$3) Churros (~$7): served with Nutella and dulce de leche Aya's take: Solid lunch spot! At Sofrito, you order at the register, grab a number, and sit down. The workers were super friendly and service was quick and efficient. They have empanadas from various Latin countries. We went with the Cuban Empanadas which had a great texture from the flour (as opposed to corn) and decent amount of filling. The Chicken one had more flavor than the Beef so if you had to choose, I definitely recommend the Chicken! It didn't come with any sauces which I found unusual but the waitress was nice enough to give us some green garlic sauce which elevated each bite. The Churrasco was delicious and super filling with 3 sides. I asked for medium but it was more medium well. Luckily, it wasn't too dry or chewy and the chimichurri sauce on top was so fresh and vibrant! The Churros were decent but they served it to us in the beginning so by the time we had finished our entrees and got to it, they were pretty cold. It would've been nice if they served it to us towards the end. Nonetheless, I recommend stopping by if you're in the area! read more

I really wanted to like this place. The only positive was the food. Servers are slow, scattered brain and condescending. I got my appetizer. No drinks yet. Got my food. No drinks yet. We asked them 3 times where they are. Got two cold espresso cups and one melted iced latte (missing the flavor syrup). When we asked for a new espresso this girl asked "You want it in a to-go cup?". We're not even done with our food. You wanted us to leave? Seriously?! Now no server will talk to us. They're just walking around and ignoring us. And this place got real empty in the last 5 minutes. Again, I really wanted to like the place. The place is nice and food was good. Coffee and service are a zero for me. Also, you owe me two orange juices that never made it to my table. read more

Very laid back and chill atmosphere! Hope that they're around for a long time! I'll be back anytime I'm in the Orlando area. The pictures say it all. How I'll sum it up being of a Cuban decent is that while being 1000 miles from home, it was pretty darn close to a home cooked meal growing up. Had a Malta to go with my mini papas rellenas and the lunch special of picadillo with white rice, black beans, and maduros. It was a super generous portion too which was fantastic. Staff was super friendly, and I believe the young lady that came to speak with me, was the owner, was mindful to say hello to those dining in the room. Cool thing was ordering as you walk in and then grabbing a table and waiting on your food there. Super convenient. Cherry on top was the music playing! Skip the overcrowded, overpriced restaurants at Disney Springs and head across the street to Sofrito Latin Cafe. You will not be disappointed! There's such a wide variety of options on the menu, and everything I've tried has been packed with flavor, beautifully presented, and reasonably priced. We love stopping at Sofrito after a long Disney day or whenever we're staying at nearby hotels. My favorite dish is the churrasco, absolutely delicious! I have never been to a restaurant with this system that they offer. When you enter, the menu is displayed on screens on the wall, there are 2 computers available to place orders that can only be paid by card, and there is an attendant for those who prefer to pay in cash. The attendant was not very friendly, and did not offer us any kind of help unless we asked. When you place your order, you take a number and go to the table of your choice. Some time later, a waitress came with our drinks and cutlery, she did not ask us if we needed anything or not. Our order was "Brazilian X-frango frito" $12 and two "Colombian burgers" $14, Coca-Cola drinks $3.50, Corona $6 and iced mocha $3.25. Our dishes did not take long to arrive, the two Colombian burgers, according to my daughter and husband, were tasty, but my Brazilian X-Fried Chicken was nothing more than a large fried nugget, a total insult to any Brazilian eating that, tasteless and super greasy. After we received our food, no one else came to our table to ask if we needed anything. My husband had to go to the bar more than once to ask for things. In addition to the terrible experience with my food, my daughter's iced mocha had to be remade because there was plastic inside her drink. This is definitely a restaurant I will not return to and I do not recommend regardless of the nice ambience. read more

Before the Holidays we were down for Christmas and had another amazing group dinner here! We come here every chance we are down in Orlando since they first opened and we had their breakfast. We are all Vegetarians and I am Mandatory low sodium and still able to eat here without any complications!! Kiddo & I split the cheese Empanadas and all get the vegetarian platter meals. I am able to comment they make awesome black beans, I really do miss having them and I get one or 2 to enjoy from my DH! We all get the fried yuca, sweet Plantains & Tostones they get the beans & I order the odd item left out for the day and we share. Everything is delicious and cooked to perfection! We always have some leftovers to take back to the hotel. We Especially love their Sofrito sauce!! YUM!!! The guys always get Jupiña to drink, I stick with water now that the soda fountain is gone. I was very confused when I walked into this restaurant and it was a kiosk system to order with then sit yourself/ number system. But everything I had was amazing. We ordered a bunch of stuff and split it. Chicago, picadad for 2c arepas, empanadas. All the meats were so good. Loved the steak, pork and pork belly. It was delicious. The plantains were amazing. This is a well subscribed Latin restaurant in the Orlando/Kissimmee area, likely because it is reasonably priced, can accommodate large groups and the plates are large and tasty. It's majority self service: you order at a kiosk, take a number they will bring the food. Grab your utensils, Napkins and water cup from a nearby station. With both outdoor and indoor seating, the place was packed for a Saturday evening between 6-8pm, so keep that in mind. read more

The good: the food is delicious!!! The bad: the service is less than average. So my recommendation is to order your food to go. You can say this is a hybrid setup where you walk up, order your food, pay, sit at a table and wait for it to be delivered. So drinks and the food arrived, but there is no silverware. After I asked for some eating utensils I was told "later" and it was never brought to the table. We ended up taking the silverware from the next table. After we finished eating and requested a box for leftovers someone came over. I pointed out the missing silverware and poor service. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. I don't know if I would return. I may order takeout, but I don't think I can support this business. My family was not happy. So good! In town for a conference and after some internal debate decided to head to Sofrito for dinner. Best decision of the day! I had the camarones, yellow rice, black beans, and fried yucca. Mango juice and water to drink. Everything was good. The shrimp were tender and well seasoned. The beans were perfectly cooked and spiced nicely. The chimichurri on the yucca was so good that I asked for extra and ended up dipping my shrimp in it. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was a mellow vibe. I'm with it. Disappointing. Maybe just an off night, but this was different from previous experiences (dozens) where I rated Sofrito five stars. Staff was friendly but not attentive. They tried to deliver the wrong food to our table multiple times even after receiving our food, yet never once inquired how our meal was, or if we needed anything. I ordered the Roast Pork (my favorite). It was dry as can be as was the crunchy yellow rice. Plantains were on point. It has been a while since my last visit. Was this just an off night? Did they change ownership / management? I may try them again, but now I fear taking out of town friends. I hope they win me back. read more

Their most expensive patacon on the menu is the one with Picańha and it says $17...yet I got charged 25.90. Regardless of how good something is, there shouldn't be a $9 difference from what is on the menu. That is absurd. On my last trip- $43 for an empanada, tequeńos and a patacon just doesn't sound right for Venezuelan food, and I come from living in Miami where restaurants are supposed to be more expensive. Add a tip and you're paying over $50 for street food. That's wild.

When I went to pick up the order, I was asked to provide identification. Unfortunately, I had left my ID at the hotel where I was staying. I did have a picture of my ID on my phone, but instead of accepting that, I was told they wanted to write down my driver's license number. Given the amount of identity theft and fraud happening today, I was not comfortable providing my driver's license number for someone to write down. They offered me a refund, and I ultimately left without the food I had ordered. I understand that businesses have policies regarding identification, but the entire experience was frustrating and lacked customer service. I followed their instructions to order online, paid over $100, arrived at the stated pickup time, and still walked away without my food. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend Tropical Mofongo. The customer service and handling of the situation were extremely disappointing.

Pro-Tip: if you are headed somewhere with a refrigerator, order the full portion of the grilled chicken with cilantro-cream and take one breast and some mashed potatoes home for another meal. The full portion is only $3 more than the light version, but comes with a second piece of chicken breast. Otherwise, save the $3 because one breast is plenty filling. You could also consider sharing the full portion plate to save room (and money) for apps or dessert. We chose the flaming pineapple butter cake for dessert. Staff at Sofrito have asked me to write a review. Here it is: We was attracted by the name "Sofrito", especially because my two companions are actually Puerto Rican and they were craving for Puerto Rican food. First thing we asked was for the famous Mofongo, they said that they have it. We ordered a Shrimp mofongo and a Pork mofongo, myself I ordered Roast Pork. While we wait for it we got some empanadas that were delicious, and other appetizers really good. When we got the entrees there was the problem. The mofongo was cold and we doubt about it that it was made on premises. About my roast pork, I was not able to eat it. I try a couple of pieces and I left it in the plate almost untouched. I have never had such a hard rock pieces of pork with a microwave reheated test. Because I am honest i told the server right away. We ended up not eaten our entrees because my companions had similar issues. I was drinking beer and my companions coconut soda. Because the bad test of the food was in our mouth before we left, we ask for one coconut soda to wash it down. We paid our bill in full, even if we did not eat the food, and we left. Can you believe that they rushed out asking us to pay for the last can of soda? Obviously this people does not have any restaurant experience ! Any restaurant if you leave the food untouched will have some kind of compensation, some others will not even charge you for the food you did not eat !. I went to Sofrito Latin Cafe for lunch today and had an incredible experience. This place knows how to make real Latin food that hits all the right spots - everything was fresh, flavorful, and made you feel like family. I tried the churrasco steak with yuca and maduros. The steak was perfectly grilled with a nice char on the outside but still juicy inside. It came with this amazing chimichurri sauce that had just the right amount of garlic and herbs. The yuca was creamy and buttery, and those sweet plantains were caramelized to perfection. Even though it was busy during lunch rush, the energy was positive and welcoming. We visited this place three years ago and had a fantastic experience, so we were excited to return. Unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing. When we ordered lunch to go, we encountered several issues during pickup, but we assumed it was just a one-time problem. We decided to give it another try and came in for dinner today. Sadly, things only got worse. Winni took our order incorrectly, was noticeably rude, and overcharged us. When we asked her to correct the mistake, she responded with an attitude rather than an apology. When the food finally arrived, it was extremely bland and lacked any flavor. To top it off, we ordered dessert, but it was never brought out--we had to specifically ask for it. Overall, this visit was nothing like our first and left us very disappointed. For starters, don't expect a server, you order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Ordered a steak dish and the pice was small and dry after I wanted it cooked medium. The small piece I got was $15 for lunch. *Important - Do not take your significant other to this place! Gentleman at the counter kept pushing salsa dance lessons and after 3 times of my wife telling him no thank you, he asked if she was Puerto Rican and then followed that up with asking if her and I were together. I recently discovered a fantastic Cuban restaurant located close to Disney, thanks to a colleague who took me there. I ordered a Cuban Sandwich and was blown away by how delicious it tasted. The portion size was generous and the price was reasonable. The bread was perfectly crispy on the outside and packed with meat. I also had a Cheese Empanada which came with a delicious cilantro sauce. The service at the restaurant was quick and efficient, and the ambiance was relaxed and comfortable. From the moment I walked in, I felt at home. The staff here are warm, welcoming, and genuinely happy to see you--such a refreshing vibe that sets the tone for a great meal. The worse service in Orlando a -10. Place was empty and we had to wait over 30 minutes for a coffee. Spoke to the Manager and still did not get service. Soup was spilled all over the plate, food was totally cold after they finally brought it. I have never, ever received such an unprofessional and insufficient service. Asked for silverware after finally the food came and had to stand up and go get it myself because they never brought it. I give this restaurant a -10 and then some. read more

Luis who works there went above and beyond for me with my order especially when uber eats messed up and canceled my order. Not only was the employee working there (Luis) amazing but the food was fantastic. I ordered the lomo Saltado and pollo a la brasa. The meats were cooked to perfection and had amazing flavors. Order at the counter and food is brought to the table. Portions are a bit small but food was good. Prices were fair. Restaurant was very clean and very busy. Staff moved quickly and it was difficult to get attention when there were issues. Sad that bread wasn't served with the meal. Ive been to a lot of Cuban restaurants given I live in Tampa and not getting bread is really unusual. Still, an authentic meal with some other Latin menu items. read more

We looked up over 50 restaurants online to visit since we are in Orlando for the first time .... we saw some reviews of this place and we were curious.... now we are hooked! From the cool chalk and distressed decor, to the amazing food to the sinful Nutella drenched churros... holy crap!!! This place was incredible!! It took a while to get our food, but we it gave us a chance to take. Upon entered, you take a menu and order from the counter. The guy at the counter was very helpful. I thought I knew what I was ordering but he suggested I get it a different way. And it was amazing. Had the shrimp dish (I forgot the name) and it was very flavorful. There are many options for Latino food in Florida. Being a chef and one that cooks and eats this type of cuisine regularly, I can be critical at time. This was not bad at all. I enjoyed the outside cafe area, and the service was good. Prices were not bad for the area and the connivence of several hotels within walking distance. I'd try them again next time I'm in the vicinity. read more

I ordered Colombian empanadas only to find that it was all potato and no meat . This is the 3rd time I order empanadas from here and it's been the same so it's no mistake , they're cheap with the meat . Also NO ONE came to check on us and we couldn't ask for what we needed at our table . Horrible customer service . Too bad cause they started out well . I wont be visiting again read more

We came here on Saturday night around 8:30 pm/ was busy. Line was a bit long but moved quickly. Service was friendly and fast. We tried empanadas and were fresh and hot. Finally, they only have option of glass of chicha morada. The taste was really good, I could feel the spices.

Unfortunately, almost everything was downhill from there. Pea puree would not be my choice for a base, and the fingerling potatoes were overcooked but had good flavor. A side of brussel sprouts came with three of the four dishes we ordered, and they were overcooked and almost flavorless. Mushrooms came on two of the dishes and they had no salt or seasoning. My daughter's chicken was exceptionally dry but she said it was ok. Her fingerling potatoes had good flavor but we're off-putting because they were drenched in sauce and mushy. The mushroom risotto with scallops and pancetta was thick and creamy. The flavor was good, the scallops small, and the pancetta in small cubes. They should not have put the bland mushrooms across the top. The bone in pork chop was a little tough, and the bleu cheese flavor hits you over the head. Avoid if you don't like bleu cheese. The fingerling potatoes were perfect with this dish. The four of us were exceedingly uncomfortable every second we were in the restaurant because I would venture to guess the air conditioning was set to 60°. Two of us had jackets on with our hoods up in August. Our server explained that they keep it this cold because when it's hot outside, the humidity makes it damp inside. I argue that they could easily still turn it up a few degrees and the humidity wouldn't shoot up too much for comfort. When your check arrives, figure out the tip on your own instead of using their suggestion since they include taxes in their suggested tip. Tip should always be figured from the subtotal. Surprisingly, they did not even wish us a happy anniversary, and I made a note on the reservation. I read that Mythos will be closing within a year. If they are updating and not changing it completely, I hope they fix these issues because it really did have a great vibe. As it stands, I would not return, but hope you have a positive experience. Remember a sweater! :)
