Came here for a Sunday brunch with a group of about 15. There is a pre/fix menu to choose from that includes family style appetizers and then you choosing your own entree. The calamari and the beef empanadas were decent for the appetizers. I didn't love the pork chunks, they seemed over cooked. For my meal, I ordered the steak and eggs. There's a $7 upcharge for skirt steak, which I picked. I asked for my steak medium, and it was much closer to medium well and well done. The steak itself was juicy and flavorful, and the chimuchurri really helped. The potatoes were soft and not seasoned well, could've used some more time on the stove. I asked for my eggs to be fried and it came out weirdly made. Only took a bite and then left it. We did have bottomless drinks but the service on that was slow and not consistent. I had 2 mimosas in the entire 90 minutes, and I had to flag down a staff member to even get my 2nd one. It is a loud restaurant with music playing, but I guess that sets the mood and ambiance. They are strict with the table limits and will ask you to leave after paying. read more

We recently visited Sofrito NYC on Sunday, March 29 to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary, and overall, we had a really great experience. This place holds a lot of nostalgia for us--we actually celebrated our wedding after-party at this same location 19 years ago (back when it was a rented venue), so coming back felt really special. Booking through Resy was super easy, and even when we had to push our reservation back by 30 minutes, it was handled smoothly. From the moment we arrived, everything started off on a positive note. The valet was friendly and efficient ($20, which is pretty reasonable), and the hostess welcomed us warmly. Once inside, the vibe immediately stood out--there's a lively bar area and a beautiful waterfront view that really sets the tone. We were seated in a comfortable booth (perfect for our kids), and everything felt cozy yet vibrant. The bathrooms deserve a quick shoutout--clean, fresh-smelling, and even had an attendant offering napkins and lotions, which added a nice old-school touch. We started with drinks (Pinot Grigio for me, seltzer with cranberry for my husband, and sodas for the kids), then moved on to appetizers: chicharrón de pollo and empanadas. Everything was beautifully presented and photo-worthy. Our server, Nicholas, truly made the night special. He was personable, attentive, and went out of his way to congratulate us on our anniversary. He recommended the skirt steak with shrimp, rice, and beans--and that ended up being the highlight of the meal. The steak was absolutely delicious. My husband had the half chicken with rice and beans, my daughter happily stuck to her favorites (mashed potatoes, fries, and chicharrón), and my son enjoyed his burger. The food came out quickly, and we had a great time just relaxing, laughing, and enjoying the atmosphere. By sunset, the ambiance shifted beautifully--candles lit, music flowing (lots of salsa and Spanish classics), and just an overall great vibe. For dessert, we had tres leches, chocolate chiffon cake, and ice cream for the kids--all a perfect ending to the night. Our total came out to about $325 for a family of four, which felt fair for the experience. Why 4 stars instead of 5? The biggest reason is the branding vs. reality. The restaurant promotes itself as authentic Puerto Rican cuisine, but the menu felt more like a mix of Dominican and Puerto Rican (overall Spanish cuisine). Not a bad thing at all--but it should be represented more accurately. Also, the rice (both yellow and white) was disappointing--hard, grainy, and not what you'd expect, especially during peak dinner hours. It was the only item we didn't enjoy and didn't even want to take home. That said, everything else from the service to the ambiance to standout dishes like the steak was excellent. We'll definitely be back, this time just the two of us, to explore more of the menu. Highway for brunch with friends on a Saturday. They open right at 12, same for the valet. You can valet or find street parking before you come down into the park. You can also take the BX19 bus. It stops right in front. We got the brunch which is $50 per person, and it comes with a free beverage. Also, with six people, you get a free appetizer platter that came with empanadas, carnita fritas and calamari. I had the steak and eggs that came with home fries. A friend of mine had the chicken and waffles. That either comes with a chicken breast and a leg, or a chicken breast, and a wing. We also ordered a side of the avocado salad, which is lettuce, tomato onions and avocado. The sangria is wonderful and strong. The mimosa is made with puree, not with fresh juice so they're very rich. The outdoor seating is very nice. It's right on the water. You can see the George Washington bridge. The only thing is thw day we were thete there was a little bit of a smell from the water or from the sewer. I'm not sure which one it was. We opted to sit inside but it was a beautiful day. It's a beautiful patio, and I'll definitely recommend Sofrito. read more

All delicious and in abundance to serve the whole table over and over. I ordered the baby paella and it was filling. A solid 8/10. I had a virgin pina colada. With the pre fixed menu you get sangria or mimosa but I don't drink so they offered complimentary pina colada. The table had mixed reviews for food hence the four stars some dishes were a complete miss for people in my party They sang happy birthday to people celebrating birthdays. The confusion came with the bill. I've never seen a cash total and card total almost a 20 dollar difference if you paid with a card. They have an atm on site to get cash but the fee is 3 dollars. I hate taking around cash and it was a bummer to pay the fee for cash withdrawal from the atm. It's a big safe and open to everyone. We went at 120pm brunch and it was relatively empty. I saw there was a dress code but I had on swears and sneakers and was fine. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect based on the mixed reviews about this place. The restaurant is inside of Riverbank state park and overlooks the Hudson River. They have outdoor seating on the terrace with great views of the water and George Washington bridge. The dining area is very spacious and I really liked the rope design hanging from the ceiling. The place was pretty empty when we arrived, this might be a place where people come later in the day. They have valet parking for $20. The brunch special includes an appetizer, main dish and unlimited mimosas or Sangria. I went with the white sangria, it was fruity and not overly sweet. The sancochito was really good and filling. The carne frita was delicious. I ordered the tres golpes and that was also very good. The mangu needed a bit more water and butter to bind it together but I still enjoyed it and loved the presentation of the salami and cheese. I tried the pernil and thought it needed a bit more seasoning. The portions are large and by the time we got dessert I was so stuffed. The service was friendly and attentive. The prefix brunch price is $45, not including tax and tip. They add automatic gratuity to the bill. read more

The space is breathtaking right along with the views being that the restaurant is located on the Hudson. They offer VIP parking at the location rather than paying and walking or having to walk to much or cross the west side highway. The service is exceptional and truly accommodating. I have a Puerto Rican friend who lives in New York and he recommended this place for dinner. It was a little confusing to get to, but fortunately they let us know that it's actually in the park. I love all of the windows, and if it wasn't raining, it would have been great to sit on the patio to take in the gorgeous view of the Hudson River and George Washington bridge. We came a bit early because we had plans afterwards, and it looked like a day party was judge wrapping up. The venue is very spacious and looks like it would be great for events. Came here for a friends birthday. Originally thought we were going to the one in midtown but found out if closed down Anyway this location is near 125th street just off the west side highway . Parking is valet $ 20 I believe . I was a lil hesitant at 1st but it ended ip being fine . Otherwise parking would be a few blocks walk away IF you are able to find parking which I would think be extremely hard. Someone in our group did park there. The birthday girl was super late so a few of us tried to get a drink at the bar. Service was not very attentive unless you were standing in one area of it. Finally we got a drink - and I enjoyed my classic mojito . They did not have guava for my original choice. Once we were seated, the waiter came to tend to us. Getting drinks and food took a little while but it was pretty good Music is Loud but would be good for most people. Definitely not easy to talk if you want to have in-depth conversations I had the shrimp mofongo which was decent . Sofrito's is the spot we love to go to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we usually have an amazing time! This year, my husband and I, were so disappointed with the service. We sat outside like we always do, I guess because it was the holiday weekend it was somewhat slow, but the bartender's energy was awful. Once we sat down, the young man behind the bar said he would go get the bartender. She came outside, came over to us, and ask what we wanted with an attitude. There was no greeting, no pleasantries....nothing. I only found out her name, which was Leslie, because another staff member said it. The whole evening, most of which it was just my husband and I sitting at the bar, Leslie never came over to ask if we were okay, to ask if we wanted another drink...nothing! She sat on the stool looking on her phone and we had to get her attention to order drinks, appetizers, and food. I know at some point, we probably should have closed our tab and went inside but we love sitting outside with the beautiful ambience surrounding us. Leslie gave off the energy like she didn't want to be there, didn't want to be bothered at all, and it wasn't appreciated. On a good note, the food did not disappoint! For our appetizers...we had the empanadas, potato puffs, and corn fritters. For our entrees...we had the pork chops and steak. DELICIOUS!!! Date Night! My date and I came here on Thursday evening for date night. Valet is available upon arrival (cash only). As soon as we walked in we were greeted warmly and shown to our table. The ambience is gorg, music playing at an appropriate level allowing you to still have a conversation. Within minutes of being seated our waitress came over. She was lovely! Making food and drink suggestions. For my meal I went with the stuffed snapper. OMG!!!! It was soooo good. The portion was huge, leaving me with a great sized to go plate. Service was spot on. Our waitress continually checked in to make sure we were good. They also have a photographer walking around taking pictures that she'll later frame and sell to you. Even though there was a party inside we were able to sit outside in the shade, which was nice as it overlooks the Hudson River and has great views of the GWB. We ordered a pork dish and the paella, and split the empanadas - the food was ok and my mimosa was pretty good, but the sangria was a bit on the sweet side (we had both the red and white and both were sweet). The inside is modern and open - very pretty. I'm sure it's a really nice ambience inside and out during the evening. My Sister, Cousin and I all celebrated our milestone birthday at Sofrito's yesterday. When we arrived at 6:20 pm, the Valet person was not welcoming and he was very unpleasant. And our car was left at the curbside unattended with the keys still inside. What if someone took off with our car. Unbelievable. I was also displeased with the food. The salmon was spoiled and the Pernil was huge and looked unappealing on the plate. On a good note, our waiter was very patient and did a nice job taking care of our table of 12. The other waiters were accommodating and the bathroom host inside the women's bathroom was very professional and welcoming. And the Host and Hostess greeted us nicely and was also professional. I will say, that I don't plan to have dinner there again. The food was not great and I do not like anyone to make my mother feel rushed. Management needs to speak to the valet guy. read more

Came here to celebrate my Mom and Husband for Fathers Day! I called 2 Weeks ago and requested to sit next to a window. I wanted my mother to enjoy the view. They sat us next to the bathroom. People with no reservation had better options. That was mistake number one. Number 2, it took 15 min to be serviced or before the waiter noticed us. When Luis arrived, he was very nice but I had a hard time hearing him. The music was way too loud. I asked if they could lower it a little bit as we couldn't hear each other speak. Leave the damn disco for after 6 pm at least. Number 3 The food arrived. I ordered the alcapurrias, very small, 2 for 12 bucks. But my biggest, absolute biggest complaint of it all was the arroz con gandules. It was days old and reheated, you can tell they sprinkled water on it to try and make it fluffy. Something that was very noticeable was that the gandules looked like raisins because they shrunk from so much reheating. It was gross. My bill came out to $300 and I will tell you that the experience should have been memorable. Never again. 1 star for the waiter because although he was nice he was not attentive. Its a shame. Visited this establishment right before things began closing due to the pandemic. I was here for a close friend's birthday dinner celebration. Upon arrival, we were prompted to use the hand sanitizer at the entrance. Our group was approximately 10 people in total, hower, despite having a reservation we waited an awfully long time to be seated. One seated, we ordered appetizers and drinks; empandas and sangria. Our entrées (salmon, yellow rice, beans, plantain, etc.) Arrived shortly afterwards. Everything was delicious and extremely satisfying in terms of portions, food temperature, and taste.
