I love Soho Cafe. The stromboli is wonderful, and it's fascinating to watch them make it. The falafel and gyros sandwiches are also standouts. The veggie pizza is fantastic, and that is coming from someone that is the furthest thing from a vegitarian. This is the best gyro in Minneapolis. Period. The only thing keeping them from 5 stars is their delivery. I had a pizza delivered once, and it came fairly soggy, and somewhat undercooked. I've eaten here a couple of times and was not impressed by the pizza. Both times it left me feeling a little queasy. One of the times it was a little confusing. People were ordering in several locations in the place. Others were just standing around waiting for their food and it took me about 10 minutes to get the attention of one of the workers. It was cold everything is premade, his only job was to warm it up stromboli smh‍. I think the stramboloi and pizza sit out at room temperature all day until some one orders one then it's put in the pizza oven until like warm I hope I don't get sick. I ended up here after a fiasco sent me to the laundromat with my entire closet. Long night, need food. I got a calzone. It was good. But why wasn't there any sauce inside? The person I was with said calzones don't usually have sauce inside. Oh. Well I like it inside with the cheesiness. The marinara that came with was runny and cold. BUMMER. That's the very best part of pizza and italian food, the sauce! Improve the sauce and you get 4 stars. Solid place and an interesting mix of Italian and Greek food. Yummy pasta, pizza, strombolis, gyros, and salads. My fave is the greek salad which is pretty large and is even better with freshly made chicken. They also have baklava which I obviously have a weakness for because it has sugar in it. I've kind of always wondered what Soho Cafe was, I've passed it numerous times and have also noticed them being open in the wee hours while at Uptown Diner. So after grabbing late night Tea Garden, my boyfriend and I decided to take a peek at what Soho had to offer. We were pleasantly surprised: pizza, stromboli, calzones, pasta, gyros! The selection is large and the prices are pretty decent. We each got a stromboli with pepperoni, gyro meat, ground beef, and cheese. The cook-time was short and the two guys running the place around midnight were happy and helpful; we had lots of questions for them. The stromboli itself was pretty awesome! The bread was nice and crispy on the outside and was nice and thick and soft toward the inside. There was a very nice portion of meat, I was full after only half of mine! Also, the cheese: soooo good, not fakey processed american cheese, but fresh yummy mozzarella and minimal grease! They provide you with marinara sauce for dipping, but I actually think hot sauce would have been better for these. I typically have Sriracha at home, but it would have been super cool if they had sent some hot sauce with us, and also some napkins! I'm looking forward to trying their pizza, if the crust is anything like that of the stromboli, I would expect it to be delicious! Plus, they're open late!! read more

Horrible food. Ordered speghetti and garlic knots. The speghetti was so bad we threw it away after a couple bites. So much garlic, otherwise had NO flavor. The garlic knots were basically the kind of buns your grandma serves at Thanksgiving with a ton of garlic on top - otherwise devoid of flavor as well. Also thrown. Hands down the best place to grab food in Uptown. Its a walk up counter service place that is really affordable. Everything from the gyro to the pizza to the calzone is absolute bomb and the guys who run the store are the nicest and kindest guys...makes you really want to support businesses like this. My personal favorite is the Manhattan Stromboli, like a gigantic wrapped pizza roll thing with cheese, sausage and peppers...anyone who hates on this is seriously not from this planet. I just wrote a rather scathing review of another Minneapolis business, so I felt the need to balance that negativity by reviewing a place I feel positive towards, and the first place that came to mind was Soho Cafe. I love these guys. They're your quintessential little indy, quick Middle Eastern greasy spoon, except really not greasy at all. The food is uniformly excellent and fresh, and the staff takes obvious pride in it -- they make everything in customer view, and you can watch them roll dough, toss pizza crusts, wrap stromboli -- they'll willingly give you recommendations, ingredient info, substitutions. The gyros is great. The chicken with vegetables is great. The falafel is good, and quite different from falafel elsewhere. Their french fries are great (seriously). Their pita is great. I'm addicted to their garlic knots. I have gone in late at night just to get garlic knots. I want some right now. It may have been a week since I was in there, so I'm due. They're also just good people -- the employees all seem to like each other and have fun working, and they get to know their customers, saying "Hi!" when you come in and chatting warmly (I did have a price dispute with one of the guys once, but even that was friendly and civil). They attract a really diverse clientele (gay, straight, trans, white, brown, immigrant) and I've never seen them be anything but kind to their customers. And they're open LATE! Do you know how rare that is in Minneapolis? So, so rare. I dropped one star (and ideally, it'd be half a star) ONLY for cleanliness/comfort issues - the temperature in the cafe fluctuates a lot (no airlock doors), the seating isn't what I'd call super comfy, and the restroom is always discomfiting (graffiti, puddles, etc). But obviously, none of that has kept me away. read more

I honestly wish I could give this 6 stars. Where do I begin? Open late on New Years Eve, I called in and got my order placed with no issues. Was told 10 minutes it would be ready. I get there, food is ready to go, service is incredible. I get back to my hotel and was blown away by both how good the food was and how big the portions were. Most restaurants are going with small portions to increase profits, this place LOADS up on the food and it was absolutely delicious (Kabob sandwich and rosemary potatoes.) They have a full menu with salad options, sandwiches, pasta entrees and they are all priced well. Remember to bring cash if you're going to pay less than $5, though. Honestly, sometimes I just want pizza by the slice, and this is basically the only game in Uptown since the devastating demise of Golooney's. Not outstanding by any means, but it's decent and quick. Mainly, I like this place because it's open late. The food is decent for what you pay. I usually get a cheese calzone, and it's usually a 50/50 chance that it'll be delicious. went here this morning and it looks like a place where hungover kids come to (bc they were there)..but that's not the point. me and him shared the meat stromboli, gyro, and a simple pepperoni pizza. the gyro was definitely filling as we left 3/4 of the gyro left, the stromboli was filled with meat and cheese and didn't have the doughyness of a calzone. the pizza wasn't the best but it was doable - also didn't finish. the place was just okay -- i don't get the hype of this place either read more
