California roll, spicy tuna rolls, and yellowtail roll
    Lindsey A.

This restaurant was not far from the condo we were staying at when we were on vacation in North Myrtle Beach, so we decided to have a late night sushi date here. We had a late start to our evening and this was one of the few places close to us that kept serving food late (besides just burgers and such) which I liked that they stay open late. The place is a bit small but was clean and had both tables, booths, and a bar. They had a big menu of both sushi and other food items. We tried the chicken gyoza which was a little on the smaller side but tasty and flavorful. We also had a California roll, two spicy tuna rolls, and a yellowtail roll. They were good, but I have had more flavorful rolls elsewhere. Based on the food, I'd give it a 3.5/5 star rating but the service was excellent so I rounded up to a 4. Our waitress was a college student from another country who was in town for the summer, and she took great care of us. She was attentive, welcoming, gave good recommendations, and we enjoyed talking with her about traveling. It was a nice way to end our trip. I would be open to trying more of their other non-sushi items here on a future trip to Myrtle beach.

Appetizers calamari with delicious marinara and Bang bang shrimp.

Soho The kids wanted ice cream so we went to Melt on Main Street and then walking around and stumbled upon this gem. We ordered the tropical wave cocktail and the Georgia peach mule that were both delicious. For appetizers we ordered the bang bang shrimp and the calamari. The flavor on the shrimp was great and the marinara sauce with the calamari was a hit. We ordered 3 sushi rolls crunchy roll, tiger roll, and bang bang roll plus just a small plate of Lo Mein. Everything was flavorful and delicious. Rio was a great waiter. We will be back to SoHo.

    Salmon skewer

First time here in the area. We got the Ramen with chicken and the salmon skewers. Both were very tasty and salmon was cooked perfectly. I would definitely come back. Service was good, but then again the place was empty for lunch. Nice bar atmosphere with plenty of TVs if you wanna come in and watch the games. We would definitely come here again.

All seafood, meats, & produce were of high quality and prepared to perfection. I recommend the Grouper Bites as an appetizer. The ambience was nothing fancy but still comfortable . You should go dine there and I know you will be glad you did.

Took our beverage orders, returned quickly with those and water. She told us the specials which we passed on. Fred ordered fried oysters platter, I ordered an à la carte crab cake and oysters Rockefeller. Our food arrived quickly. Fried oysters were plentiful and crispy. House made chips were crunchy and delicious. My crab cake was wonderful - as close to a Maryland crab cake as I've had in a long time. Lump crab, very little bread crumbs, pan fried and served with a dollop of hollandaise. It needed some Old Bay seasoning. The Rockefeller Oysters were delicious. Plump oysters topped with spinach and Hollandaise. They need a splash of Pernod and would be 5 star. We split a piece of house made peanut butter pie for dessert. It wasn't good. Way too sweet and very soupy. Tasted like a cool whip recipe. Our tab was reasonable and we left our server a generous tip. We recommended the restaurant to numerous people we knew back at the hotel. I'd definitely return!

Numerous tables and booths available for seating, as well as the bar. And outside dining is also an option. Prices & portions seem reasonable. This place appears to get quite busy and also looks to have many regulars. Family-owned- European and Northern Italian influence. We came on a Saturday night, shorty before close, so we were able to get two seats at the bar. Our bartender was extremely attentive throughout our visit. Complementary bread is provided. Comes with a nice oil and garlic blend. Ordered the Bucatini Puttanesca & Spaghetti with Italian Sausage. These come with a dinner salad or up grade to a Caesar for $2 more (which I did). Both salads were fresh and delicious. I will say one of the best caesar dressings I've had. The pasta, presentation was lovely. The flavors bland, tomato sauce (tastes straight from the can) had no additional spices present and the pasta way over cooked. Seems their noodles are pre-cooked and Al Dente then is just not possible. This is another reason why the rating was just below average. Really disappointing. Would not be a place we would revisit.

We started with the crab dip appetizer and the bacon-wrapped scallops. The crab dip was just okay, while the scallops had such a heavy bacon flavor that you could not taste the scallops themselves. We also tried the she-crab soup, which wasn't anything special, although the clam chowder was very good. My friends ordered chicken sandwiches and were satisfied with them. I chose the entrée salad with shrimp and hot bacon dressing, and it was awful. I definitely won't order it again. The "hot bacon dressing" didn't have even a smidgen of bacon in it -- it was basically flavored water. The service was fine, but overall the food was disappointing.

I figured he will like the old clubby atmosphere of Thoroughbreds plus they have great wine and an excellent burger. We got there a few minutes before 4:30 and waited in the car until they opened up. Now I haven't been here in a few years, but it looked exactly the same... bar to the left as you come in, with multiple dining rooms scattered throughout, some with a fireplace some without, all of it projecting private club with a southern flair. It's decorated well. We sidled up to the bar, where we were the first two patrons there and sat at the end. The bartender was attentive and quickly came over with menus and asking for a drink order. I ordered my father a nice glass of Pinot Noir and a seltzer water for myself and then quickly began reading the menu. Thoroughbreds has a happy hour menu that is served at the bar and a more extensive full menu served at the bar and in the dining rooms. I settled on the burger with fries for my father, with no cheese or other accoutrements that is always served on a pretzel bun. It comes with Gruyère cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion...that's the way I usually get it, but my father being 90 is set in his ways. I decided on an appetizer of escargot and the main course of elk chops cooked medium and served with broccolini and mashed potatoes. After a while(and another glass of wine for my father) the escargot came out with some hot bread and infused butter. The escargot was tender and flavorful with hints of garlic and parsley in a rich butter sauce. The bread was a good choice to dip into the plate. A few moments later, my father's burger came out, cooked to perfection with crispy shoestring fries that were moist and tasty in the middle. The happy hour version of the elk chops consisted of two. They were served crusted over the broccolini with a nice moundful of herb infused mashed potatoes. The elk chops were delicious and tender, and the broccolini and potatoes were seasoned to perfection. By the time we were done, the bar was full and people were having a great time eating and drinking. I looked over at my father and I could tell it was time to go so we headed out the door and drove back to our condo in North Myrtle Beach . Overall, I find Thoroughbreds an excellent upscale dining experience with friendly and professional waitstaff in a club like atmosphere that serves great steaks and chops.

I ordered sweet tea and it wasn't quite to my liking--my server offered to fix it and make it perfect sweet tea. It was genuinely sweet! We were impressed with the decor--it felt very cozy and we were delighted by the comfort. For dinner, we started with the escargot appetizer. It was a new dish for both of us but we were happy with it. They also brought some delicious bread with an herbed butter. The bread was wonderful. For our main dish, we did the chateaubriand for two. It was finished table side and was a very cool experience. It came with mushrooms, asparagus. And mashed potatoes. I'm not big on mushrooms but these were incredible! I loved the flavor and the texture was so creamy. My husband loved the mashed potatoes. Dessert was spectacular! We couldn't decide on dessert and our server directed us to the Kentucky Derby Pie. I would come back here for this dessert alone. Chocolate desserts are not my husband's favorite but he absolutely loved it. It's got a bit of everything--chocolate, pecans, caramel, ice cream. The cheesecake was delicious as well. We were too full to eat both so we brought the cheesecake home and shared with our kiddo who declared it amazing.
