I walked over to check the menu out and noticed they had a lot of Vegan options to choose from. They have a counter and kiosks you can order from. After asking the person behind the counter a few questions about the menu, i decided to order the Salt and pepper edamame Vegan Ramen. After about 10 minutes my order was ready? I sat in the dining area.The edamame came in a separate box from the ramen. I tasted the edamame first they were basic nothing spectacular about them. The ramen was the star it was flavorful. The food court is definitely a great concept. Still have to wait line and place an order using a kiosk but no online ordering... I ordered my food at 12:11pm and got it at 1:06 pm. Mind you I ordered maybe the easiest thing on the menu, rice bowl with shrimp... Okay at 45 mins I attempt to get someone's attention, the girl finally comes to the counter and I ask the status of my order... she just looks at my receipt and says "not yet" I stand at the counter for few more mins at which point I ask for a refund they take my receipt and I go grab a chicken sandwich, that takes 7'mins to get... I am fully vegan and corn free and the first time I ordered here they put baby corn in my ramen. They asked if they could just pick the corn out even though I told them I was allergic. This used to be my favorite Ramen shop. Last round however I ordered a Tofu Ramen with spicy miso and extra veggies. My Ramen arrived warm, not hot, and without the tofu. I was eating in so not a huge deal breaker, I went back and asked for the tofu. The gentleman was kind and empathetic, apologized for the error and said they'd correct it. I got a mild temp Ramen with cold tofu back. The tofu wasn't cooked at all and the soup was not hot enough to cook it. I hate giving poor reviews, but unfortunately this place earns it's two stars. I wish I took a picture, but the portions to pricing are so out of whack. I ordered the eel bento and the way they filled the bento box was pretty much 90% rice and the rest were the contents. The eel itself was such a bait and switch. The images displayed a sizeable piece and the actual portion size was literally just 6 pieces of scraps. It literally looked like they gave me some pieces that were stuck to the bottom of the grill/pan and I got the left over of someone else's order. I basically paid almost $20 for pretty much all rice. I also want to note that they are very inconsistent when calling for orders. For some people, they'll yell out the names and others they only text. I was standing there for a hot minute not sure if my food was ready because they announced the 3 orders before mine and they only texted me when my order was ready. Came to Downtown Riverside to look at Christmas lights so we decided on the Food Lab since theres a variety of options being that its a food court. I was craving some rice so decided on Soho Ramen - huge mistake. Ordered our food and was given a pager. 30 minutes pass and the pager still hasnt gone off so my friend decided to check with the lady at the register. Turns out our food was just sitting there getting cold. Not only did she not apologize for the pager not going off when our food was ready, but she didnt acknowledge it at all. Zero accountability. We came across SoHo Ramen and the first thing we saw was how ridiculous the price is. $19 for a salmon teriyaki bento box with barely anything in it. After we order it, what we get is so little. Tiny piece of salmon and low quality of food?? We were like ehh. After eating a few bites, we saw HAIR on the rice, we freaked out. Extremely disappointed with SOHO Ramen in Riverside due to misinformation about gluten-free food and how the situation was handled. When my boyfriend and I visited, I asked the front counter employee four separate times whether the pork chashu rice bowl was gluten free. I also specifically asked how it was prepared and whether it had any sauce on it. She repeatedly told us there was no sauce, that they "only torched it," and that it was gluten free. When our food came out (in a plastic to-go container), the very first thing I noticed was that the pork was covered in sauce. It turned out to be hoisin sauce, which is not gluten free. I have celiac disease, so I could not eat it at all. My boyfriend went back to the front to explain the situation and ask for a refund since the food was misrepresented and unsafe for me to eat. The staff refused to help us. They called their boss, who also refused a refund, claiming they had "told us what was gluten free," which is simply not true. The "shift lead" (a girl in a red bandana) then started blaming us and trying to cover herself and her employee that initially helped us (a blue and white floral playboy hat) instead of taking responsibility. The only positive service we got was from the one guy there who felt bad but was in the end unable to do anything. We ended up paying $30 for pork chashu that I couldn't eat at all, not to mention the thin slices barely worth half the price we paid. If you have celiac disease or any serious food allergy, I would strongly caution you against eating here. The lack of knowledge, accountability, and basic customer care was unacceptable. read more

There was way too many bamboo shoots in my food and one of my bowls was not supposed to have any but it had a bunch. When I told the workers the were very rude and didn't want to admit they forgot the add ons in my food. They gave me the add ons cold in little containers which weren't able to get very warm in the broth. The chashu pork was thin like bacon and wasn't the right cut of meat, it had a decent flavor but it was way too thin. I would say the taste of the food is good but the service is bad and the workers aren't concerned with the quality of your food or how they treat customers. Three people were working, but no one was in the front to help. They were all in the back using their phones, which you are not supposed to when handling food. I walked around and got some Thai tea from another spot and then came back when my buzzer rang. The cashier/server in the front asked me "Number 22?" and I responded with yes and she handed me my bag of food. I sat down and opened the bag and my wife told me the order was wrong. We ended up checking the receipt which had a totally different order and then went back to get our actual order. The breaded pork was pretty good. The Chashu was a little on the dry side. The spicy miso base was good and had a decent amount of spice. I'd be willing to come back here if in the mood for ramen while in Downtown but I think I'd take a second to think of whether I should go to Saku Ramen instead near the Mission Inn. read more

Soho Ramen is a delicious little gem located in downtown Riverside, inside the Food Lab next to the Historic Fox Theater. There are about 8 or more places to eat in the Food Lab, with Soho being one of the better ones IMHO. I honestly don't understand all of the low-rated reviews of this place, to be honest. I've eaten here about half a dozen times and their food has been wonderful each and every time. For those who don't know, Soho is a Ramen Restaurant on steroids. They don't have JUST Ramen, they have a variety of other traditional Japanese fares including Udon, Yakisoba, Beef Bowl, and Rice dishes. It really is a great place to eat when you want to try more traditional, non-sushi Japanese food. My personal favorite is the Chicken Ramen. Something I've found here that I can never find anywhere outside of Japan is an appetizer dish called Okonamiyaki. It's kinda like fried bread with savory sauce and toppings that look a little like a pizza. It's DELICIOUS and I was so happy to finally find it! Their menu really is quite large for a small place, so you have a lot of options to choose from, especially if you're a vegetarian. The prices are a LITTLE on the spendy side but not too much, and the portions are more than filling! The only "meh" thing I can really say is that it's one of the more popular spots inside the Food Lab, so on busy nights and weekends you can expect a wait. Also, bear in mind that they make your orders fresh, so it takes a little bit. Seating can be a bit of a pain too, but that's not their fault. This is because they are sharing seating options with all the other restaurants located in the Food Lab. Seriously, if you're curious about traditional Japanese "ramen-shop" style food and you want a delicious taste experience I highly recommend giving them a try if you're in the area! read more

I got the Seafood Ramen and the shrimp was plump, fresh and well cooked. There were also mussels and a great broth, so no complaints in that department. Tons of old school Japanese dudes in the back cooking with Kombu seawee leaves, so everything looked really legit. Maybe I caught them on a good day or maybe they reinvented themselves after everyone tore them a new one on Yelp, but I had a great experience. Increase your portion sizes you'll be good to go. Got an early dinner at Soho Ramen in Food Lab this evening. There was a short line, and the food came out about 10 minutes after ordering. I found the portions to be large for the price! The chicken yakisoba was $14 with tax, and the chicken rice bowl $12, but both were large enough for us to have extras to take home. The sauce on the chicken was delicious, however I found the meat to be a bit chewy. I'd like to come back on a chillier day to try their ramen!
