It was before they moved to their Concord Ave. location, that's how long it's been since we ate at Thai Kitchen. I think we lost track of who survived COVID (restaurants) and yesterday I thought about checking in on the Thai Kitchen. Man do I regret not doing so sooner. The food is amazing. My wife had the Pad Thai and I had the Silver Noodles, after edamame and the Lemon Grass (Tom Yum) soup. Outstanding across the board. Adam was the most hospitable and helpful host and we will become regulars again. Background music very nice collection of the songs of our life 1950's-1970's. Wonderful all the way around! read more

Really good service. Large restaurant so very spaced out. I love that the food can be customized with rice or noodles. One of my favorites is the pad Thai. My daughter gets the mango rice dessert every time. It really is delicious! Sometimes the service can get a little slow (I think this is more of a kitchen issue). I found Thai Kitchen while visiting Baton Rouge on business. They have a good selection of lunch specials which include an egg roll and soup or salad with your entree for a decent price. My food was delicious and had just the right level of spice/heat. The server was pleasant, fast and efficient. The restaurant is anything but fancy but it's clean and has a lot of Thai decor. I will definitely return when my travels bring me back to the area. read more

We were just here less than a week ago and we had to come back! I tried something new tonight, the Panang curry. It was so savory and delicious! We got a rainbow roll for appetizer and it was very refreshing. The Thai sweet and sour was amazing per usual. Our waiter was extremely attentive and sweet! We were able to watch the Olympics opening ceremony during our dinner so we were very entertained! They always have sports on the tv. The lights were very dim tonight which I am not mad about, it allows for a very relaxing experience. Can't wait to come back! read more

This was my first time trying Thai Kitchen and it was absolutely amazing! My coworker and I decided to order our lunch from here because we (well, I) love some good Thai food, lol! We order our food online and it was ready to pick up at the allotted time. The hostess was very inviting, and greeted us when we walked through the door. I ordered the lunch special Lo Mien add chicken. It came with a Thai egg roll and Tom Yum soup- Medium hot. Everything was well seasoned, and not salty at all. That medium heat brought the HEAT!! I give this place a 4.5 out of 5. The inside is nice. I liked the decorative tables. Plenty of seating. Booths, tables for larger groups, a sushi bar, and smaller tables for intimate settings. The service.....phenomenal. I ordered beef larb with sticky rice, and pineapple curry with shrimp. I also ordered a papaya salad and another beef larb to go. The larb was some of the best I have ever had. The portions aren't very big. But I would pay top dollar to eat that again. The curry was ok for me. I enjoy a thicker curry instead of a soupy one. However, the flavor was there. Shrimp cooked perfectly. The papaya salad. Simply lovely. I liked that they had many protein options for all their entrees. Just wanted to say this place was amazing. Was in town for work. The waitress we had was amazing she was very nice and gave great explanation of some of the different spices. I had the chicken drunken noodles and the chicken coconut soup. Both were phenomenal. But that's not all, I accidentally left my phone there and had driven over an hour away. They had gotten my phone and put it away and held it. I realized it and called and went back and got it. Tried to offer to pay them then for finding and keeping it for me but they wouldn't take it. Just amazing people. It hard to find good honest people in today's world. Not only that but the food was amazing and the space was nice and looked like they had a nice courtyard I'll be back here next time I'm in Baton Rouge. read more

I don't have pictures this time around but I ordered the shrimp fried rice and egg rolls and oh my goodness were they good!! One of the best shrimp fried rices I've had in a while! I ordered to-go order through Yelp which was just convenient for me, but it is cheaper to use their restaurants own ordering site (although you have to make an account with them, which ultimately is why I chose to pay the $4 extra since I already clearly have a Yelp account). The owner of the restaurant actually greeted us and told us we could save more using their online services as well which is always nice to hear when trying to save money. Overall, even though I didn't come here to eat, the customer service was great, being greeted almost immediately and we were quickly given our order. Will definitely be here again for the exact same order but also wanting to try more off their menu! read more

We tried Thai Kitchen for the first time last night, and we really enjoyed it! We each started with a summer roll, and it was nicely done with fresh veggies. My wife had the peanut chicken dish, and I had the shrimp cashew nut dinner. We enjoyed our respective dishes, which were properly seasoned and full of fresh veggies. I recently dined at the Thai Kitchen on while visiting Baton Rouge. This restaurant has a combination of authentic Thai decorations with a full bar and several TVs on the walls for viewing sporting events. Many dining tables were hand carved with intricate details that were quite amazing. We started with Papaya Salad which we shared as it was enough for two! Our entrees were Chicken Pad Thai and a Beef Pad Ped at varying degrees of heat* 2 and 3. Our salad was a great way to begin our meal and our varied degrees of spicy entrees complimented each other as we shared both. For an intimate dinner at an authentic Thai restaurant you will enjoy Thai Kitchen. I love this restaurant and will visit again. * When ordering you get to specify on how hot you want your entree from 1 to 5 which is VERY convenient as some people have different tolerances to Thai spiciness. Went right after opening time at 5 pm, we were very happy to be the only people in the place. Unfortunately once more people came in, they oddly seated another couple at a table very close to us (despite ALL the other tables being empty). Otherwise, the restaurant and bathrooms were very clean. LOTS of TVs playing ESPN in case you come to watch sports (it's also a sports bar?) The food was fairly good. Appetizer plate for 2 came with a lot of food which filled us up. The chicken satay, wontons, & egg rolls were the tastiest. I could live without the shrimp toast or wings. As far as entrees, the menu was pretty extensive but we stuck with Thai dishes. The drunken noodles was tasty and a large portion, 4/5 is VERY spicy! I got the Thai grilled shrimp green curry as it sounded interesting, however 3/5 spice level was actually a bit bland for me. It still was good but I think I would have enjoyed my usual panang curry a bit more. Sticky rice with mango was tasty (as it's hard to get this wrong!) however portion of rice seemed a bit small for the price. read more

I was in town for a week dog sitting. From NOLA but been wanting to dabble around BRs food scene since there soooooooooooo much going on. I've seen this place several times and thought it was interesting. I mean Thai food + Sports Bar? Anyways, we ordered delivery from here. AND LET ME TELL YOU. Those homemade, made to order egg rolls were in a light and crispy paper, made with pork and cabbage. They were juicy, crunchy, savory yum yum... Everything you'd expect if you've ever had a truly delicious egg roll before. I was considering picking up a dozen before heading back to NOLA. Next time im going to sit inside and order plates of egg rolls and a couple of beers. lol 11/10 GET THEM. We also had the spring roll (under a different name if i remember correctly) and it was the freshest spring roll i've had in a long time. The lettuce and mint were crisp and bright. It was stuffed with shrimp AND pork. 9/10 Tom Yum does the trick if your craving your favorite sour soup but it wasn't the best quality tom yum. Mushrooms were fresh but there wasn't much of anything in it. My bf enjoyed it a lot but i don't think he's ever had a traditional bowl of Tom Yum before. This one was super sour to me.. maybe even a little too much. I wouldn't go out of your way to get it, but maybe if you order in a bigger portion it would be better. 4/10 My bf got the green curry with chicken which was flavorful and good but we have had better green curry's or at least ones that fit our style a little more. Still delicious but compared to the Penang it's good. Just depends on what you're craving. 8/10 Penang curry with chicken add eggplant omg ADD EGGPLANT. It was tangy and creamy and just what u wanted. I got it medium hot and my lips were tingling but my mouth wasn't burning. It was perfect but i'm not scared of heat. This was my second favorite after the egg rolls. Now the green beans were meh and the shrimp was like cocktail shrimp, so maybe take those out they just weren't quality ingredients in comparison to the flavor and body of the dish they didn't add anything to it. Enjoyed my visit Saturday evening so back to 4 stars. Although in my last review I said I would return, in actuality I did not until yesterday. Well, things have changed as once again Thai Kitchen offers sushi. I do not know if it still offers dim sum. The place where the buffet islands still appears unused and a storage space so perhaps the buffet will return... anyway let's talk about my visit if last night. Sam , the owner, is still there and friendly enough, which makes him a good businessman and restauranteur. I recognize 1 support staff server---she's been there since well before the pandemic so loyalty is a positive. The food? Well, they have sushi so I added a star. Looking at the menu, it's an ambitious menu and thus if the sushi chef can prepare all of the offerings in a quality way, then he's great! We had a basic roll and we order 2 non-traditional rolls---a volcano (which was presented as non traditional ) and a pyramid which appeared as a sushi roll. Both are packed with unhealthy items and tasted great. The basic roll was an avocado/eel roll and it met expectations. We also ordered dumplings and believe it or not, French fries. At one point in time, Thai Kitchen was probably *the place* for all things Thai food in Baton Rouge. It was one of the only Asian establishments in the city and its strip mall location gave it just enough cred to take it seriously. Now that 30 years have passed, the torch seems to have dimmed a tad, as BR is experiencing a boom of Asian establishments. Let's start off with the good stuff: * The place is ultra spacious: Is there a bigger Asian establishment in the city? There are tables for days, a big sexy bar, and the layout is in such a way where booths are separated from tables and people have room to breathe. * The portions are huge: Louisiana isn't Texas, but the food portions are worthy of the lone star state. The average plate here is big and thankfully most people around here have a hearty enough appetite to finishing their plate (or getting close). * The decor is unrivaled: While it's always a tad dark in here, I think it adds to the ambiance. The Thai themed decorations are very impressive, especially the faux statues, the outside water pond, and the glass encased tables are fun to look at. There is no doubt they did well here. * Parking is good. Like most big places in BR, there is parking for everyone. Since this place is part of a strip mall, the lot is ripe for plenty of cars. Then the not-so-great: * Service can be so-so to really mediocre. I've had it to where it was so abysmal that I almost wanted to serve myself instead. Which leads me to the next point .. * The buffet is whack: And this is coming from someone who generally loves buffets. Their lunch buffet is a quick option for people who want to control their portions and choose something from the buffet, which is usually consisting of small things like spring rolls, rice, noodle dishes, and even assorted dim sum. Most everything I stacked on my plate was either too dry or too bland to enjoy. The sub $10 price doesn't make up for it. * In addition to dim sum, they also have sushi. Normally this would be a plus in my book, but the sushi is downright no bueno. I've long ranted about how bad sushi is in Baton Rouge and they're not doing the city any favors by offering these mediocre rolls to the masses. Presentation is ok, but the fish quality / nigiri + roll combinations are subpar at best. * The Thai portion of the menu is the best stuff they serve. Most of the curries I found to be a tad on the sweet side and the noodles were ok, if not huge for each bowl. What I didn't appreciate was how greasy everything was. I've dabbed pizzas for oil, but I didn't think I needed to drain bowls as well. * I know the portions sizes typically make up for it, but the prices are not exactly all that friendly. The other places have dumbed their prices down and somehow still managed to keep the food in good standing. I am hoping the food gets back on par with their heydey. read more

Looking for a decent Thai restaurant in Baton Rouge. Thai Kitchen is definitely not it. The place is large and clean. We were greeted and seated quickly. Unfortunately, service was painfully slow. The first round of cocktails was pretty good: I had the Garden Martini, and she had the Tiki Twist (a real girly drink). We had a second round of Garden Martinis, but they were not nearly as well-made as the first. The appetizers were pretty good: shrimp toast and fried shrimp. We were starving though. My entree came out well before hers: I had the Green Curry Shrimp, and it was delicious. She shared it, as she was waiting for her dish. We waited way too long for her entree, the whole cooked red snapper. By the time she got it, it was so overcooked to be inedible. We mentioned this to the server, a diminutive Asian lady, and she just said "that's the way we make it". If so, they can't sell very many of these, and only once per customer. We won't be back. Life is too short to waste time and money on inedible food and terrible service. read more

Thai Kitchen is one of those unassuming places that blow you away. Tucked away in on a side street adjacent to a small strip center, it's off the beaten path and not what you'd immediately expect! When you go inside, the smell of fresh Thai seafood dishes is wafting and all of the ornate traditional Thai decor surprises you. Each table has a beautifully etched scene in the wood under the glass top and is divided for privacy by intricate lattice. All of the food was awesome and they have a very big selection with allergies listed for each. The spring rolls with duck were an amazing surprise that I'll be thinking about until I get to go back! One of us even enjoyed some sushi (which I was originally skeptical about at a Thai restaurant--sometimes places that try to much don't do it all well, but they did here). Our waitress Candy was very attentive and sweet. Looking forward to returning when I visit my sisters. read more

Had takeout from here and it was so delicious. The drunken noodles were amazing. They needed soy sauce but once the soy sauce was on it was perfectly sweet and savory. A visit to Thai Kitchen BR takes my tastebuds straight back to my favorite Thai restaurants of the past to the fantastic and exotic flavors and dishes that I sadly thought I'd never be able to eat the likes of again once I had moved here to Baton Rouge! WELL, was I EVER wrong, AND how did I not know about this place sooner???!!! I can't even get enough of the food here. It's so delicious, amazingly authentic, and very fresh. Yes, every time. Sam, the owner is very customer friendly and takes great pride in his restaurant. They are accommodating to my little "sally" menu tweaks, and I've yet to order anything that I didn't love. Do rush over there and order yourself up some crispy egg rolls, follow that up with an amazing bowl of one of the curries, I personally really enjoy the Penang (spice level 4), or the green Curry. The Pad Thai is pretty terrific too. Try the chicken or shrimp lemongrass soup, and if you love something very spicy, the drunken noodles will really rock your world! I say this place is 3.5 stars , but shown 3 because likely I will not come back. Not because the place is dirty or the food didn't taste good, but because the lunch menu was just disappointing. The place opened when I got there but others quickly came in after so it didn't feel that empty. Good things; Tai kitchen has large dining area and nice decorations, many tvs w/ sport shows, even the table top looks fancy and has Dim Sum menu. All great, but 'fusion' seems mostly Chinese dish. Egg rolls were hot and tasty, but the dip sauce were iffy. The salad with peanut sauce was great. What was disappointing was the green curry was watery like no other place I've gone to ever. And the curry tasted thin, lacking the coconut milk and spices that we love about it. Also the amount of it was only enough to feed a 5 year old and not an adult. Same for drunken noodles, it tasted good, but seemed to be only half portion. Tai kitchen should charge more and make full portions rather than half and leave customers hungry. No good. read more

WE LOVE THAI KITCHEN!! Best Thai in Baton Rouge. Their pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Drunken Noodles, Panang Curry, eggrolls, and Lemongrass soup are all. I hear other people mention good things about their fried rice, but none of us are a fan. They used to have the best sushi in Baton Rouge, then they quit offering sushi for a few years. They do have a new sushi chef but the sushi menu is completely different and not nearly as good as the previous. Such a shame, because the previous roll creations were simply divine. More than anything I wish they would open a location in Ascension Parish. Perhaps in the building where Ichiban (Aji Sushi) used to be, or anywhere. They would make a killing because there's no Thai restaurants in the parish. read more

Spice it up or not - At this Thai restaurant you are able to decide the level of spice you want to your entree from 1 being the lowest and 5 being the absolute spiciest. I usually ask for no spice as I always share my meals here with my son. You may be asking then what's the point of eating Thai food if I'm not going to enjoy the spices well that's why I ask for the Trio of Spices so I am able to add spice to my dishes. For a starter you should get the Tom Yum soup with shrimp. It's served hot in a shareable pot with a flame to keep it hot while you enjoy a bowl of soup. I always order hot tea when I eat here but I will say the pot of tea comes super hot but doesn't stay hot from very long . I do know that you will need to let the tea seep a little longer when they bring it to you. By the 3 cup the tea seems to be getting colder. I love curry so I got the Chicken yellow curry with potatoes with no spice it was added later since I share with my kid. My husband ordered the Pad Thai with Shrimp with a spice level as 2 and he ended up having to add more spice to his dish using the trio of spices. For my son he likes to get the shrimp fried rice and share the chicken curry. I do know that this place does get busy during the weekends you are seated pretty quickly but so sometimes you are waiting at your table for someone to take your drink order. I like to know what I'm ordering ahead of time so when they do come take your drink order I just also place my lunch/dinner order all together. I will say if you to order a side of white rice, it is a very small portion and I think the price is a little too expensive for what they give you. I thought the white rice came with the main entrée but when I look on my receipt, there's a charge for the white rice. We end our meal with a dessert of Mango with Sticky Rice (in my opinion it's not a huge portion to share). All in all the manager is very nice and it seems to be mostly his family that works there during the lunch hours and the other employees during the dinner rush. Just know it's not a very fast pace environment so if you have time to sit and relax bring a few friends/family and enjoy the time taking to each other because sometimes it takes a minute to get waited on.
