Sol Agave is located at LA Live! We stopped by for dinner and drinks before our concert. Although we had reservations, there was plenty of open seating when we arrived. They brought complimentary chips, salsa, and a bean dip (contains pork) to the table. I ordered the cucumber margarita and it was so good! For food, we tried the shrimp taquitos (comes with three), the mixto ceviche, which was very fresh and flavorful, and the calamari frito. Both the service and the food were great! We had a great first time experience at Sol Agave before heading to Crypto Arena to see the Sparks and we look forward to returning in the near future. What made our experience great was Aldrick. His personal attention and thoughtful recommendations really made a difference. We started with cocktails. After describing what we each liked and did not like, Aldrick helped us not only pick the perfect cocktails but also suggested how to make each drink better for our individual tastes. I don't like my drinks too sweet, so he ensured my blackberry margarita was light on agave. My wife is not a fan of tequila, so he directed her to a delicious blackberry martini. Both drinks were refreshing, well balanced and delicious. We had the fish ceviche and guacamole sampler. We did not realize the guacamole sampler would be so generous! It is three very large scoops of guacamole, the first regular guacamole, the second lobster guacamole, the third guacamole with pork. The guacamole with pork was our favorite, the pork was so delicious. The regular guacamole was also quite delicious. The lobster guacamole missed the mark. The lobster is obscured by the flavor of the guacamole and the lobster was somewhat fishy when isolated. The guacamole sampler is really best for a group of four or more, not a couple as it is quite generous. I think it would be better as a duo with just the regular guacamole and the pork guacamole. The fish ceviche was quite delicious, beautifully sauced and the corn tortilla tostadas were tasty crunchy carriers for the ceviche. We wanted to try the octopus but we were too full at this point and finished off with coffee cocktails customized by Aldrick. Sol Agave is a convenient and worthwhile restaurant choice for anyone going to a Crypto Arena event, convention event, or nearby venue like Peacock theater. Especially if you are lucky enough to be served by Aldrick. Came here for lunch after visiting the Grammy Museum. It's a large restaurant with different sections, well decorated, and even though it's indoors, it felt half outdoors as well. It was a bit busy when we came at lunch on a Saturday, but they tried to be good about not making us wait too long, like they gave us time to look through the menu, probably noticed when we put the menus down and just started looking around, and then brought out the chips and salsa and took our order. The portions are big, which makes up for the fact that it is a little bit expensive, like we probably could have shared one dish. Came here to have a bday dinner celebration, after doing some research this place kept on coming up as a good place to accommodate big parties. I made a reservation over the phone for 16 ppl. They sat us down in their main room and the server cam by to introduce himself and ask for our drink order. They don't offer agua frescas so our server offered to make us a mocktail, we opted for the tamarind, and mango and neither were very tasty. The hostess greeted me with a welcoming smile and I sat at the bar. The bartender was very chatty and quick to give recommendations for the carnitas so of course I needed to try it! I didn't use either sauces (not a sauce person typically) but I'm sure if you like sauces, this dish would be even better. Alone, I wanted the pork belly a little more flavorful. The brown sauce is the only one I tried and it tasted like syrup. Chile Colorado: 4.2/5. Served with your choice of tortillas (I picked corn). The short ribs were really tasty, super tender. Definitely a filling meal with the tortillas. Honorable mention for the chips. Nice and crispy and salty. Served with a bean and pork dip and a salsa. Both were delicious. We have been to this restaurant several times and often tell her friends about it. However, we just recently went, and the food was terrible. We got the enchiladas, and the tortillas were hard. You could not even cut them with the fork And using the knife didn't make it much easier. We got the cheese fondue with chorizo. It was like cheese wiz, could not even taste chorizo. The cocktail drink was great.The rest of the meal was not what we have been use to. Something or someone changed. We should have known this when we walked in.
