Fogo de Chão - DTLA (Weekday Lunch) FOOD Damn--they serve authentic Lamb Chops! Many restaurants tone down the characteristic flavor of lamb because a lot of people don't like that distinct taste. But Fogo's lamb chops stayed impressively close to the original flavor. Thank you, Fogo! Next time I come here, I may just order the lamb chops and nothing else. Their Picanha was also very good. Their Black Beans were delicious. My co-worker pointed out that there was meat in them--I honestly didn't notice. So it probably wasn't full Feijoada, but rather black beans with a bit of meat added to enhance the flavor. Either way, they were excellent. Our server suggested adding Chimichurri on the side for the black beans, and that was a fantastic recommendation. Absolutely delicious. Thank you, miss! I also loved their Mashed Potatoes. And of course, the famous Brazilian Cheesebread! Love it! (Be sure to ask for it. Because ours came towards the end of the dinner.) DÉCOR & FOOD PRICE The décor was just so-so--not as nice as H&H Brazilian. However, Fogo's all-you-can-eat churrasco costs significantly less. H&H was $73 per person when I went last December, while Fogo's weekday lunch was only $55. That difference definitely matters. DRINKS The drink prices were also a pleasant surprise. A glass of South American Chardonnay was only $8, and their Clean Cosmos (a mocktail) was around the same price. Our server brought us bottled spring water, which cost $8.50. I don't recall being asked whether we wanted tap or bottled water, but times are hard and I want them to stay in business. DESSERT You may not even need dessert--the fried plantains are included as part of the all-you-can-eat churrasco, and they're a satisfying sweet finish. SERVICE Except for one grumpy gaúcha (meat server), everyone was wonderful--from the hostess, to our pleasant server, to the nice gaucho. As for the grumpy gaúcha, she probably just had a bad day. I hope things improve for her. PARKING Just Uber. Or take Lyft. The parking structure where we parked was absolutely godforsaken. SUMMARY Overall, I'm happy with this place. Last night my girlfriend and I went to Fogo de Chão for a date using a complimentary dinner-for-two card we had. When we arrived, we asked both the manager and our waiter if the card could be used, and they confirmed that it was valid, so we proceeded with our meal. Unfortunately, the service throughout the meal was very lacking. Over about an hour and a half, our waiter, Jose, did not check in on us, ask if we needed anything, while other tables around us appeared to be receiving much more attentive service. At the end of the meal, when it came time to pay, we were told there was an issue with using the card we had been previously told was accepted. This was frustrating given that we had confirmed it at the beginning and had already completed the dining experience under that assumption. We ultimately ended up paying around $120 out of pocket. While I don't have an issue paying for a good meal, if I had known from the start that I would be paying full price, I would have ordered differently and chosen items I actually wanted under those conditions. Overall, the experience felt inconsistent and disappointing due to the combination of poor service and unclear communication about the promotion. read more

We ordered, she wrote it down, repeated then left. Another server came to our table to explain the menu, and retook our order which was frustrating and aggravating, y'all know... 2. When I checked my bill the next day, someone adjusted the tip to a higher amount! 3. The meats were great. The cheese and honey was awesome. The bartenders were great, and even the host were polite. The server that could barely speak to us left me feeling bad for her working in the restaurant on a holiday. Last Saturday, March 7th, I had dinner at Fogo de Chão with seven members of my group. And yesterday, Tuesday, March 10th, I went back again for lunch with My Mom. I had heard from friends that if you only use the salad bar during the weekday lunch special, it costs $18. Since the salad bar was so delicious and impressive when we had dinner there last Saturday, I decided to try it for lunch. One thing I especially like about this place is their flexibility. I arrived earlier than My Mom and the staff asked me whether I would like to sit at the table and wait or wait until my mother arrived before being seated. She gave me the choice, which I really appreciated.(Last Saturday, too). Some restaurants make you wait until the entire party has arrived before they will seat you, but here they asked and gave me the option, which I thought was very considerate and nice. I really like it. The salad bar is truly amazing. These days prices are going up everywhere, and even gas prices are so high, so it was really nice to be able to enjoy the entire salad bar for this price during the lunch special. There were cheeses, a charcuterie board, lentil soup, fresh salads, various fruits, roasted eggplant, squash, and many other items. Everything was really delicious. However, one thing I noticed is that as soon as you sit down, they bring a bottle of sparkling water to the table. I went to the restroom and when I came back, it was already on the table. A little later, the waitress came over and asked if it was okay. Since they had already placed it on the table and asked if it was okay, it felt awkward to say no, so I said "sure." But that sparkling water is an additional $8.35 charge. But, it's ok. I like Sparkling water. Last Saturday night, including the tip, I paid a total $110. Yesterday at lunch, with just the salad bar for $18, plus tip and the sparkling water, the total came to $34. (Per person). Overall, it was a very satisfying lunch. Everything at the salad bar was delicious--especially the roasted bananas and the cheese bread they brought to the table, which were really good. All of the staff were very friendly as well. I especially liked how quickly they cleared the finished plates from the table. After I finished the sparkling water, they kept refilling my regular water, which was very attentive and nice. If I have the time and the opportunity, I would definitely go back again. read more

If you're seeking an unforgettable dining experience, head to Fogo's Los Angeles location. My wife and 12-year-old daughter and I had an exceptional time there. It was hands down the best steakhouse experience I've had, even better than other Fogo de Chao's. The food was, as always, delicious and amazing! We tried every meat they offered, and they didn't skimp on the portions. The meat kept coming! And let me tell you, the grilled cheese with honey was heavenly. I'm not a big fan of honey, but it elevated the grilled cheese to a whole new level of goodness. Their customer service was simply outstanding! I was surprised to learn that Fogo had a dedicated customer service supervisor for each shift. We had the pleasure of meeting A D, who was truly exceptional. He made our visit exceptional and personalized by building a relationship with us. A D went above and beyond, taking our conversations to a personal level, making my daughter feel like the center of attention, and checking in with us at the perfect times. I've never experienced anything like this before at any restaurant. If you visit Fogo Los Angeles, make sure to ask for A D. The rest of the staff was great, but two others also went above and beyond. Gaucho Elda was incredibly polite, friendly, and helpful, while Gaucho Gio ensured that my daughter's food was to her liking and even made a piece of filet the way she prefers it. I dined her with a large group. Having arrived early I sat at the bar to wait for others. The bartender had an attitude and asked me, "Are you going to order anything?" The bar area was almost empty. So I asked if he could make an Irish Coffee and he said he could. After I ordered another person placed an order and he engaged the customer in a lengthy discussion about a sports event. He finally said, "Wait until I finish with this guy over here," referring to me. I should have left at that point. He finally handed me my drink. No whipped cream, cold coffee, glass only 1/3rd full. He took my credit card from the counter and rang up a charge that was sky high. Double what would have been customary. I got the card receipt after I had already finished off the drink in (literally) two sips. He had the nerve to ask me if I wanted another. He got zero tip and gave me an attitude look. My recommendation - if you dine there, stay away from the bar!! As for dinner it was very nice. The cuts of beef, lamb and chicken were cooked perfectly and were exceptionally seasoned. Service was very friendly and attentive. We also had access to the buffet, but I was a little turned off watching one customer taking Cesar salad out of the bowl with my bare hands. I asked the waiter if there was anymore and was told no. So I passed on the salad. The rice and beans smelled good except the beans were cold. The rest of the buffet was well stocked and offered selections for everyone. This was the first time I've dined at a 'Fogo restaurant and I'm sure I'll dine at another one in the future. But sometimes bad experience can ruin an entire meal. The bartender's attitude and the customer's hands in the salad were disgusting and totally turned off any sense of enjoyment I expected. Parking is valet and I parked across the street in a lot that was convenient and cost half as much. The restaurant is in a vibrant part of DTLA. But traffic conditions at 5:30 pm were horrible. For example I had to make a right and immediate left and cars would not yield for me. When I finally turned a car in cross traffic laid into his horn didn't stop until I finished my turn. The people bringing the meats were fine at serving in the beginning but somehow slowed down and then didn't show up. We had our cards faced up on green so not sure why they stopped coming to us. We were looking around wondering if meats were still being served. We then asked someone if we can request pichana, they said yes and still nobody came by. Asked another person again and still nobody came by. We were getting frustrated at this point and had to ask yet another person and it finally came. At this point we were still hungry but over it. Salad bar, and the Brazilian barbecue meats brought to the table. Everything was good and we enjoyed the dinner. The rib was somewhat overcooked for the first round but better for the 2nd round. Lamb was slightly gamey the first round but tasted better the 2nd round as well. We've eaten at several different Fogo de chao locations and it's interesting to me that there's often quite a bit of variation between locations. I would rate this location as middle of the road. Fogo was disappointing, which was a bummer because I was really looking forward to it. I know it's the holiday season and things are busy, but the experience fell short. We had a 6:30 reservation and weren't seated until 7:00, even though walk-ins were being quoted just 20 minutes. Service was inconsistent. Our mashed potatoes never arrived until we were already finished, refills only came after we asked (and even then were forgotten), and the salad bar wasn't well stocked given how busy it was. It includes tableside carvings of the best Brazilian cuts like signature Picanha (prime part of top sirloin), Fraldinha (bottom sirloin), the most wonderful Roasted Chicken, Bone-in Ribeye, Filet, and Lamb Chops. You get so much I am sure I left something out. It also comes with great sides. My husband had the Wagyu Ancho (Ribeye) cooked rare and it was magical. He loved it. It was perfect. It is made for sharing for a table of 4. There was 3 of us so our dogs were in heaven with a lot of meat. My grandson was with us so we all shared and ordered a lot of sides. Some of the must try sides are the Butter battered Lobster and the crab cakes. They are so great. Also, their lobster mashed potatoes are some of the best ever and their crab asparagus is just the best. Absolutely my favorite Brazilian steakhouse. Easy walk from my place and it's always amazing. My mom and I are obsessed with the cheese bread and grilled cheese with honey. Would eat them all day long if I could. This time around, I was celebrating my anniversary with my bf so we got the full experience but my parents and I often get the special (which tends to exclude ribeye and lamb chops). I like how you can request a specific dish to come out if you preferred it. I'm not a salad person so I'm not too big on the salad bar, just a personal thing. My recommendation, for your first time, I think it's good to try everything but if you really want your moneys worth, the penchetta, filet minon, and sirloin (and ribeye if you get the full experience). There is a stark difference between Fogo de Chao and other Brazilian steakhouses and I've been to a few others. It was such a quality experience, everything from the cheese bread, to platanos, meats, and salad bar were top notch. The service at this location was 5 stars! (I'd give more if I could.) The only thing I will say that really bothered me is that every single table had a special, heart shaped go/stop card... except ours. Came here with a party on Sunday for lunch. We made a reservation but there were plenty of seating available. At the beginning of our meal, they brought us cheese bread balls, mash potatoes, fried polenta, and fried plantains. Various meats, including chicken, beef, lamb, and pork, were brought on a rack to our table. The servers will slice a piece of the meat if we wanted a slice. The meats came fast and came one after another. They gave us a little card that has a green side for accepting meat and a red side for no meat. My plate was filled with meats quickly and I had to flip the sign to the red side. We ordered mini waffles and they came in many plates of fours. They were made in the perfect size. I really enjoy Fogo; we usually come here to celebrate special occasions! This time, it was for a birthday dinner. It was a smaller group, just four of us but we went all out with the full churrasco experience, and everything was amazing. Huge shoutout to Hilda, Cindy, and AD--they treated us like royalty and made sure we had an unforgettable evening. At other Fogo locations, I've sometimes had trouble tracking down certain cuts of meat, but here, the staff quickly figured out what I was looking for and kept it coming throughout the night. Major points for that! As for the Market Table, it's not my favorite, personally, a lot of the options just don't appeal to me. But their sides more than make up for it. I'm a big fan of their cheese bread, mashed potatoes, and fried bananas, so good! If you're into wine, they also have some great wine deals worth checking out. The ambiance is always on point, we like to start the evening at the bar with a couple of drinks before sitting down for dinner. Parking, as expected for anywhere near Downtown, is a bit of a nightmare. Just be prepared for that. We'll definitely keep coming back as long as the quality of the food and service stays this high.
