Decided to walk to Sol Agave after visiting the pier. When we arrived, it was pretty empty so we sat at the bar. All the staff were friendly, server was great and the bartender made amazing drinks. I absolutely loved the blackberry cocktail they had. Food was delicious. I had the tampiqueña. Which was a skirt steak on top of a chicken quesadilla. Amazing. Meat was flavorful and tender. It came with this green soup, jalapeño cream soup. I have never tasted anything like it!!! Sooooo goooood. Chiles rellenos were also delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience was nice, a bit dark so for us older people who need glasses it was a little hard to read the menu.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] All in all, will definitely make the 40 minute drive to go back.
We visited this location as my friend invited us and had tried it at a different city. We came during happy hour and Sebastian helped us. He was friendly, patient and professional. With the happy hour options we were able to try a variety of foods. We had the ceviche, the ribs, the pork belly and the taco. 10 out of 10 for all. We also had a beer and a margarita flight 10 out of 10 as well.
Sat at the bar for a drink after spending some time on the beach. Felix greeted us with friendly energy and was super attentive. I got the skinny margarita which was really good and so was the chips and salsa. My friend had the pork belly bites which were delicious, and of course, Felix came by to make sure everything was going smoothly. Everything about this experience was great so when you go in, make sure to ask for Felix!
The food here was so delicious. We were sat really quickly our party to 3. The staff was super friendly. The manager was on it. I will say our server was lacking. He never came back to our table once the food was delivered. That was the only annoyance. Other than that I would come again. The portion sizes were a good size and very flavorful
Had an great dinner at Sol Agave in Santa Monica. I grabbed a burrito and my girlfriend ordered the lamb, and both dishes were legit fire. My burrito was packed, super flavorful, and didn't fall apart halfway through (rare!). The lamb was tender, rich, and honestly one of the standout items of the night. For dessert we split the butter cake and the tres leches, and both were ridiculous. The butter cake was warm, soft, and crazy good, and the tres leches was probably the best I've had in LA -- super moist without being soggy and just the right amount of sweetness. The vibe was great, service was on point, and it felt like one of those spots you just end up coming back to without planning it. Definitely recommend.
On Halloween day, my significant other and I had friends visiting from out of the country. We met for an afternoon in Santa Monica and we had a little more time to spend together. I suggested seeing if we could grab a drink at Sol Agave. Very happy that we stopped by. It was mid-afternoon and happy hour time. The bar was relatively empty, and we let the host know we were only going to get drinks, but he allowed us to sit in the patio area AND order from the happy hour menu. We really appreciated it. The customer service was friendly and prompt. I think that since it was Halloween afternoon, it may have been a little less crowded that a normal Friday happy hour. The restaurant was comfortable and not loud at the time we were there. We enjoyed our drinks and the complimentary chips with salsa and bean dip. The chips were super fresh and delicious. Loved the visit, and I look forward to going back again for a full meal in the near future.
I was going for a walk in the area and trying to get some exercise. I happen to be walking by Soule agave restaurant and I walked in at 2 PM sharp and I asked what time is the happy hour start? I was lucky it starts at 2 PM and goes till 6 PM. I ordered the mixed ceviche with octopus fish and shrimp. I felt it was generous portion and very good quality. I would definitely come back in the future.

This place is located on ocean Ave in the heart of Santa Monica across from the beach. Very nice spot and everyone was super friendly. Our group was greeted right away. We had reservations but arrived about 25 mins early and they still seated us once we checked in. (I was glad that we did not have to wait). Our server was really nice and checked in on our table to make sure we were ok and didn't need anything. This place is cute inside with indoor and out door seating, tables (high and low), booths and a full bar. I ordered the filet enchiladas. Unfortunately my food was cold so I did not enjoy them and took most of it home to heat up. (Heating up leftovers might not be as good). I'm sure they would have been good if served at the right temperature. I did dine here on Mother's Day so maybe that's why the food was cold. Next time, I will come on a regular day when it's not so busy and give it another try.
My friend and I just happened to be hungry and in the area so we decided to try something new! Roses: - The food was yummy! I got a Sol Agave Bowl (with steak/no avocado) and a spicy mango margarita (so YUM and actually spicy!) - Our waitress was nice, and I liked that they kept filling up my water (I drink a lot of water) - Walked in on a Thursday night, no reservation needed Thorns: - Careful where you park, one of the lots they validate for, but the one I parked in they don't - Wish we got a refill on the chips! - "B" health score Overall a solid, spontaneous dinner spot or good for date night! I'd love to come back and enjoy their patio on a warm summer day.

Coming from the east coast, I can't believe how spoiled west coasters are when it comes Mexican food. You could literally close your eyes, point at a restaurant, and end up with a great option, and Sol Agave is no different. This spot has a great location, beautiful upscale interior, and such friendly, attentive service. The portions are generous and there are so many great options. We sat on their patio which is partially enclosed. Perfect to get some fresh air and sun while still feeling like you're getting that restaurant experience. Definitely will make a point of coming back when I'm in the area again! The chips are greasy in the best way possible and come with a fresh salsa and a bean dip Tacos del mar - fresh, crispy, packed with toppings, the fish was cooked well but the flavor got a little too fishy some bites Carnitas - simple and delicious. It comes w two tortillas on the side. It was tender, just fatty enough and packed with so much flavor. read more

Wow the octopus here is fire! Super soft and flavorful. I paid triple the price for worst octopus at another restaurant in Santa Monica. I like how they give you beans with the chips in addition to salsa! This is a great Mexican restaurant! The tacos were really good except there was too much cheese. It's all good though I just didn't eat all the cheese. read more

Great place in Santa Monica, CA. We were in an extended layover from lax and took an excursion for tacos. We landed at Sol Agave. We were basically the lunch crowd and were able to park out front at the meter. Promptly seated outdoors. This was the day of the massive rain, but the outdoor area was dry and warm. I had the house margarita and the fish tacos. Super good. What I like about sol is they don't have your standard refried beans and rice. Their beans and rice are much better presented and taste a lot better. Marg was good too. Highly recommended while in Santa Monica area! read more

Such a vibey upscale Mexican restaurant! We sat in the outdoor area, there's heaters, don't worry! We were immediately greeted and served complimentary chips with salsa and a chorizo bean dip. The bean dip is literally so delicious - words can't explain. They have the best and freshest margaritas, a lot of them made with muddled fruits or vegetables. We opted for a tamarindo, cucumber pineapple - all 3 were tasty but my personal favorite was the cucumber! I ordered a little basic entree of shrimp fajitas but the shrimp fajitas were cooked with a tomato sauce. The shrimp was large and super fresh! We also ordered the grilled romaine salad with shrimp and the steak and hongos that comes with the cheese skillet. Food was fire. Drinks were delicious (and strong)! They do have a happy hour which would be cool to check out. read more

We stumble upon this restaurant thanks to going to AFM (American film market). We got seated right away. Juan O. Was our waiter. What a professional, charming, all-around fantastic representation of this amazing restaurant. We loved the food so much that Juan brought over the chef!!! How fantastic is that!!!! I had the avocado tacos and a raspberry chipotle. The chips and salsa were fantastic, we also had guacamole. Everyone else love their dishes too. The atmosphere was fun, place was well decorated, very clean. Everyone was working so well together, and everyone was kind. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED read more
We had been here a few years earlier but didn't realize it until we were there, since I hadn't done a Yelp review the first time. My wife had the short rib, which was delicious. I'm not big on short rib, but this one had great flavor, including a bit of spice. I had the chile rellenos, one cheese and the other with carnitas. I had multiple bites from each, but all I tasted was cheese. I was about to flag the waiter down, when I opened up both rellenos and realized one had a few inches of cheese, and a few inches of meat. Kind of strange, but at least I could now tell which had the meat. The meat one was better than the cheese one. Also, the overall temp could've been a bit warmer. However, all in all, pretty decent entrees. Chips and salsa are both good, and service was strong throughout. A bit pricey, but for California, not too bad. read more
Best way to describe the restaurant, food, and drinks - disappointing and underwhelming. Plenty of great Mexican food in the area, but this is not one of them. Flavor and taste doesn't even come close to the price. - Food- Everything I ordered felt like it was missing something along with very little flavor. Everyone that raves about the food makes me question what Mexican food they've ate. saltine crackers rival the flavors of some of this food. The guac was a spoon sized scoop of smashed avocado with a chip in the middle and some slabbed salsa. -Disappointing for the price. The ceviche lacked flavor even when adding hot sauce and lime to it. At least the presentation was okay. -Disappointing and not worth the price. I'm honestly not happy complaining about the lack of flavor to everything, but the tacos were just ok. Best way to explain is Mehhh when it comes to food. - Service - The server did his best and appreciated them running around trying to attend to every table. - Drinks - Cucumber marg was good and also ordered tequila soda... and that's hard to mess up. Overall, I would not recommend this place unless you're trying to impress someone with lackluster Mexican food while paying a premium. read more

Amazing food and amazing service. The mocktails are also delicious - they can make any cocktail into a mocktail and I had the nonalcoholic version of their watermelon margarita, it was awesome and so refreshing! Must gets: - pulpo/octopus: cooked to perfection and the side salad and sauce really balance out the dish. Great starter! - carnitas: so juicy, so flavorful, so tender, cannot to wrong! What a great place that also has a nice happy hour menu. It's also close by the beach so it makes a great date place. Will definitely come again! read more

What a great and fun place for Mexican food! I had no idea this place existed in Santa Monica and Yelp helped me find it. My out of town guests were staying close by at the Hilton which made me navigate to this fun place! The ambiance here is fun! Indoor seating and outdoor seating options you will be placed in a fun ambiance. The food is absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. I ordered the fajitas and everyone else ordered the Soft Taco and Chicken Mole Enchilada. It was my dear friend's son's birthday so they surprised him with a delicious Tres Leches cake and a lot of joyous singing from all the staff members. Our server was super nice and accommodating. Parking is actually at the restaurant but I didn't see it and kept looking for a meter driving around the block several times. Finally parked in the structure and walked over. It's free for 90 minutes so look out for the parking signs for the under ground parking. read more

Met a friend here Labor Day weekend and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was not packed. Since I arrived first I was sitting for a while waiting for my friend. During that time I was pretty much ignored. I had to flag down a waiter to see if one of them can get me a drink. Later on I was told that there was a mixup with table assignment and after it was corrected my service was on point. First the chips salsa and beans they give you at the beginning are freaking amazing. I think the chips are cooked in house because they tasted so fresh I actually had to push them away because I would've eaten the whole thing. We didn't order too many items because we were mainly there to drink but their pork belly is off the wall. Crispy and soft we actually ordered two of those because we liked it so much. We also ordered the flautas but nothing compared to the pork belly. Drink wise the coconut margarita is amazing just the right combo of tequila and coconut. The margarita flight is a must and I was very pleasantly surprised that their drinks were pretty strong. Most places especially in trendy towns like Santa Monica water down there drinks this was not the case here. Make sure you drink your water. This place is off of the Busy main area which makes it really nice to go to because you're separated from all of the crowds yet you can walk the block and a half to get to the pier. There is a parking structure right next to it so you don't have to worry about parking either. I really enjoyed this place and can't wait to go back and try more food and drinks. read more

We wanted to grab a late lunch before going to my hair appointment and decided to have tacos. We got sat down right away with an option for a seat on the patio but we requested for the booth away from everyone. Free chips and salsa provided as soon as we sat down. Our server recommended the four taco starter and we got a pitcher of margarita for the table. We opted for the $5 up charge for the margarita with grand mariner. Was sad to hear his recommendation of the tacos weren't as good as he made it seem. The place had a nice atmosphere and nicely decorated. A nice bar in the center of the restaurant. Plenty of street and garage parking but be sure to validate your garage parking before you leave! 2/5 - four tacos (chicken/shrimp/carnitas/steak) - the steak and carnitas were very dry and the chicken snd shrimp were my favorite out of the four. 2/5 - pitcher of margarita - I got it with tajin rim but the drink tasted a bit too tangy and not good. Had a nice lunch here with some hits/misses, but overall enjoyed the meal and would return! Service was a bit in-attentive, our waters never got refilled and it took a while to flag someone down. Chips - their house chips are great. Perfect thickness and greasiness, and I really loved the salsa which has nice roasted flavors. Ceviche - this was the only disappointment. It has so many ingredients and not a ton of fish, and I wasn't the biggest fan of the flavor either. Octopus - amazing texture, and tasty sauce. I appreciated the salad it came on, but it was really overdressed, so I could not finish the it. Carnitas - these were bomb. Not too fatty, and the corn tortillas are thicc. Great food. Great service. Very nice decor, felt upscale. I had the Chile Colorado it was delicious. You can make like 4-5 tacos with the meat. For those that don't do spice be careful. It's a sneaky hot. Asked for flour tortillas got a pack of 3. But need one more to finish of the meat which was very tender. Short walk from the Santa Monica pier. Would go again. Located on Ocean a few blocks past the pier. I came for the happy hour. Not too much of a price difference for some items from the regular menu but affordable. Happy hour is from 4-6pm and is only for the bar and patio area which has about 10 tables. The service is good and the drinks are strong. Free chips with bean dip and salsa are provided. The bean dip is made with chorizo so not Vegan, but excellent. If I return for happy hour it will be for mainly drinks. I tried the margarita flights for $21. Interesting flavors and stronger than the house margaritas that followed. My favorite was the tamarind. The crispy calamari was on of the best versions that I've had. I grew up on sopes and was not really impressed with the pork bellly ones here. The masa was too thin and over fried. More of an oily taste that did not go well with the large and greasy amounts of pork belly sitting above. The picked radish went well, but something needs to be added to this dish to offset the texture. Maybe some crispy lettuce and a slight layer of those chorizo beans. The mixito ceviche needs some improvement. My plantain chip was soggy and stale. The octopus in the dish was tender. The shrimp delicious. The few bites of fish that I found in the aguachile were fishy. The dish needed a little more lemon and Chile peppers. Nothing was bad, just needs some improvement. read more

The scenery is nice and walking distance to the Santa Monica Pier! We started with delicious appetizers and drinks followed by their famous carnitas and sizzling fajitas! A nice spot to have lunch or dinner! read more

How's the parking?
There is a street with a small hill next to the restaurant. We walked up there and on that street, there were some parking spots that were available. It's not going to be that easy to park.
Do they have a kids menu?
I don't think so, but the restaurant is kid friendly, in the front patio
Is it Dog friendly?
We actually brought our dog and sat on the (enclosed) patio (in winter). They didn't say anything, but we later heard (from someone, I don't remember who) we shouldn't have done that.
Do they offer Taco Tuesday deals?
I have no idea, you have to Google the information on the restaurant
Do they do birthday treats, not a whole birthday song necessarily but small dessert with candles?
Yes they have some great desserts, and birthday candles if you request
Is there free parking?
No, however we validate a lower rate for 1/12 hour you only pay 2.75, our parking lot holds 50-60 cars
