My first visit was last night - drinks and a light meal. The decor was nice, menu varied and the wait staff attentive. They start each table off with chips and salsa, which includes a black bean dip. Very good and they brought more without asking! We all had a different mixed drink - from the house marg to a dry martini. All were very good and healthy in size. Given that the place kinda specializes in "street" tacos, we all had tacos - one at our table had been before and swears by the short rib taco. I had the daily "special" taco - a riff on Japanese beef kind of thing - and a shrimp taco. Both were very tasty and two made for a reasonable meal. All in all a very pleasant meal and environment. I would like to explore other items on the menu. Only a few minor slips - we wanted an after dinner drink and they really don't have any. In fact, I went up to the bar to ask if they had any ports - the response - really - was "Pork?" - "yes, we have pork." It was loud near the live music. But, no they have no port. Also, while the waiter was very nice and helpful, he really had very little knowledge about the daily special or the drinks. read more

I loved this place. A bit hipster, a bit flashy, but reasonably priced and unpretentious. We found two seats at the bar and ordered 5 plates off the happy hour menu. Washed it all down with a few (too many) beers, and enjoyed the vibe. The decor is fun, the music and lighting not overpowering, and service was fast and friendly. A very pleasant surprise! read more

Great service and tasty food for a casual Sunday brunch with a toddler. "Tall Zach" was a very attentive server and even brought out a special fruit plate for our toddler which she loved. I always order the breakfast burrito, a great vegetarian option, and have enough to take home for breakfast the next day. Live music contributes to fun ambiance. read more

Great new addition to cherry creek! Fun, lively and great prices. The decorating and ambiance of SOL Cocina, is amazing, you feel like you're on the beach in cabo with all the warm fire places and big open tables. Service is terrific they bring chips, salsa and a bean dip right over with water. All the staff is very attentive but not pushy.Do yourself a favor and order as many different types of the margaritas as possible. They are fantastic and not to sweet. Standouts on food was the smothered shrimp burrito and grilled fish tacos. There is a lot of bar seating, which I really enjoyed and recommended but you can sit in the dinning room. I'd recommend making a reservation for the dining room. Not a ton of street parking in cherry creek, between the construction and holiday shopping might want to consider Ubering or Valet parking. read more

Rustic Mexican cuisine that looks fancy and is priced fancy. Ceviche was solid, perfect amount of citrus and heat, fresh avocado on top was a bonus. Happy hour is decent for drinks, considering it's in Cherry Creek. .50¢ off food made me laugh. Overall it's a high end Mexican restraunt. Not terribly impressed, but staff was extremely nice and welcoming. read more

SOL Mexican Cocina - Ceviche, about half gone, sorry. It was delicious. - Bars Near Me - Denver, Colorado

I was in not too long ago for dinner and had an amazing experience. My husband and I are new to Sol, but will definitely be coming back! Our waiter, Oscar, was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable with the food on the menu. Every question I asked, he had an answer to. He recommended a (very delicious!) blackberry ginger margarita and the tacos were to DIE for. Highly recommend this place! read more

Solid food. Good environment. A little overpriced, but probably the best mexican food around that side of town.

Fantastic service and delicious, creative Mexican food. Our waiter, tall Zach, was professional and timely. We ordered taco plates which were super tasty. Really enjoyed this restaurant and would definitely go back! read more

This is one of my favorite spots to come in Cherry Creek now. Came in again, my server Kristina was very friendly and sweet. The food and drinks are quality and never disappoint. (Watermelon margarita and the Shortrib Barbacoa are my favorites so far!) read more

Great service! The bar manager Nester was very welcoming and made our dinner nice. Def coming back!

Flew back for the weekend because I absolutely love this place!!! Great tequila selection and thomas was a wonderful server and made the stay all the more better! Definitely recommend if ever in the Denver area read more

For what you are paying? Not worthy. Salsa was bland. Guac was okay. Chicken Volcan was quite good. Margs were good, not great. Atmosphere is very nice. We'd ordered a Carne Asada burrito, but got Carnitas. Took a few bites for it ro click. By the time that was corrected, we were full and only had a couple of bites. Again, it was okay. Then we waited 15 min for thre check to be adjusted, only to find they pulled the carnitas but put the more expensive carne asada on. No reduction, nothing. I was done. We'll stick with Rosa Mexicacna for upscale Mexican... when near one. read more

Tacos were standard, nothing special. The meat was good. It was flavorful and delicious. Three stars because they gave us the wrong plate twice. The server also came too early and we got our food too early. We didn't have time to socialize. Overall okay quality, good meat, meh serving Three stars. read more

First trip to SOL Cocina and I'll definitely go back again and again. The wait on a Tuesday night at ~6:30 was 35-40 minutes. The bar is open steating and they have quite a few couch/table waiting areas along the perimeter of the bar, which made our decision to wait an easy one. The bar area wait staff was super friendly and more than willing to answer any questions we had, my friend and I both started with the Cucumer Jalapeno Margarita, amazing, I can't stand margaritas that are full of syrup-y sweet and sour, these margaritas were fresh and the perfect combination of tart and sweet for me. While in the waiting area we decided to order the Hot and Raw Ceviche as a shared appetizer, we ended up being seated before it came, and I have to commend the staff, the transition from bar to table was pretty flawless (I've had issues in the past with bills and tabs getting confused, not here). The brought chips and two different salsas/dips to the table, one was a red salsa, more of a blended and not chunky, I thought the flavors were great, the other was a black bean type salsa, also really enjoyed that. The ceviche was delicious, I almost wish I had just made that my order instead of us splitting it, but then I would have missed out on the amazing taco I had! The ceviche is served with fresh beet and sweet potato chips that were a surprisingly delicious twist. They bring to the table a little tray of limes, course salt, and a hot sauce, which is their version of salt and pepper, the hot sauce was a delicious addition to the ceviche also. After splitting the ceviche I was getting full, so I went with one taco and the grilled sweet corn (roasted and grilled sweet corn served buttered, with chipotle salsa, cotixa cheese, ground ancho chile and lime). I got the vampiro taco (double tortilla with melted cheese, serrano chiles & scallions, stuffed with carne asada, guacamole & pico de gallo topped with cotixa , chipotle aioli & cilantro), it's going to be hard to convince me to try an others when I know how good that one is. The grilled sweet corn on it's own was delicous, but I added a squeeze of lime and some of the hot sauce (per recommendation of the waiter) they brough to the table and it was even better. I definitely plan on returning and trying as many things on the menu as possible. read more

Favorite new place in Denver! Our server was awesome we left our credit card and she chased us down outside to give it to us.... seriously over and beyond of her. We were leaving for a trip so she saved our bacon. Plus she was so friendly and kind!!!! Thank you! The menu was incredibly flavorful, the price is amazing for the quality and atmosphere, the veggie options were too many to choose from which is rare and oh so nice. The black beans and rice are vegan. I had the sweet potato and black bean taco along with the summer squash taco.... Amazing! They were cooked and seasoned perfectly. My Mom had the fish taco plate she loved it. My husband had the carne asada street taco plate. "Best he ever had!" Direct quote. read more

Gorgeously fresh and light Baja Cuisine. Don't expect a strip mall experience here, nor is it what locals would consider Mountain Mexican. I ate at their original space in Newport Beach some time ago. I think this location is better. That could be because of the lack of elevated Mex in CO, or the fact that the CA location had an older menu... I'm not exactly sure - but I do like this place. Ordered the Hot & Spicy Yellowtail Ceviche which came with glorious light and crispy beet and plantain chips. Mixed fresh at the table - as good as I remember it during any of my Baja and Yucatan excursions. However it was not "Hot & Spicy" enough for me. Note to self; order double the diced Serrano peppers next time. For my lunch main I ordered the Fish Taco Plate with coleslaw and black beans sides. The slaw was highly acidic and not overly sweet. It was fruity, crispy crunchy fresh with that cutting acid. Beautiful - I wish they would have served twice the portioned amount though. The black beans are so authentico -they would make a momasita and her wood fired coral outdoor grill and iron pot blush. Prices are what you would expect for elevated fare of this type, Service was exceptional and on point. Makes one long for La Paz or Matzatlan once again. read more

The great food and cocktails. The best vampiros tacos ever and skinny margarita was delicious

Thomas was the best!! Drinks are great and salsa is amazing! Looking forward to coming back

Extremely disappointed by the slow service. Took over a half hour to get our drinks and another 45 minutes to get our food. They also got two of our orders wrong and we had to wait more time to get our dishes which we took to go given the rest of our party had finished their dinner by the time we got our food. Will not be returning. read more

This place was recommended to us because we aren't from the Colorado area and we weren't disappointed. We got the guacamole for an appetizer, which was awesome. I got the chicken quesadilla with an iced tea. Their iced tea was fresh brewed and had a mango flavor. It was the best iced tea I've had since I've been in Denver. I'll be back to Sol next time I'm in the area. It was great. read more

Great ceviche and tortas, mezcal Margarita very good. Nice location with fire pit for cold days, must try!

I never review restaurants unless it is either the best, or worst experience I've had in recent memory. I work in the restaurant industry and as such am pretty picky, and also I should note that I was alone when I came here so the only thing to occupy me was the staff, the food, and the atmosphere. Here's what amazed me: - $14.50 for a burrito with 2 sides, chips, salsa, and bean dip; that's an incredible deal - happy hour at a high end restaurant? Amazing - they serve you salt, hot sauce, and lime wedges in a little tray as "salt and pepper" for your meal - the food was amazing - the bar staff was extremely friendly and we chatted quite a bit - my food came insanely fast - the beautiful interior is very comfortable and inviting I HIGHLY recommend this for a try to anyone. read more

Great margaritas - many styles, all expertly rendered. Good guacamole. Decent-to-good ambience and layout. None of our main courses were good. Bland tacos, bland burritos, heavy reliance on mayo. This place has a lot of style but besides the drinks, little content. Probably good for happy hour, but not a meal. read more

Pre-meal tortilla chips are homemade, and the salsa might be the best I've had at any restaurant. Mushroom poblano burrito was incredible. Great service, not too busy when we went. Definitely will look for this place next time I'm in Denver again. read more

Danny was our server and he was amazing! Very patient and attentive. Made our dinner fun!

Stopped in for the first time for a quick bite at lunch - sat at the bar and was immediately greeted by the friendly bar staff. The atmosphere is excellent and the staff attentive and professional. I ordered the 3 steak tacos which was more than enough for lunch with the chips, salsa and surprisingly tasty black bean dip. The food came super quick which was appreciated on a tight lunch window and very tasty. The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is for very high prices overall. I'm sure the food is good but the price points are a little stretched. If I happen to venture in for dinner on a particular evening and am willing to pay $14 for 1 taco I will be happy to update this review with an additional star should it warrant it. In short - stop in and try this place out. Good food fast and great service. read more

Sol has a great atmosphere, awesome food, and fantastic staff. Their happy hour from 3-6p is probably the best bang for your buck in all of Cherry Creek! Amazing! If you want something different try the lamb taco. And if you enjoy a spicy margarita, they've got the best

A new place to check out in Cherry Creek...okay! My girlfriends and I stopped in to check this place out on a Thursday afternoon after work. Parking was horrendous. I would suggest either valet your car, or take an Uber. Parking anywhere on the street is not worth it. We walk in and the place was super packed. We were lucky to find 3 places at the bar and sat down. Guacamole to start was the first thing we decided on. Talk about a small portion and one tortilla chip in it. One! We had to ask for a basket of chips. How are you supposed to eat all of your guac with only one chip? After that was settled, two of us got the tortilla soup and the other got the beet and watermelon salad. The food was terrific. The bowl of soup was extremely large compared to other restaurants and tasted very good. My friend loved the salad as well. The service was a bit slow for having what seemed like 100 people working. I just think they haven't gotten all of the kinks out yet. When I asked for a to go bowl for the rest of my soup, the bartender replied that they didn't have those. Apparently not prepared for people to take soup to go. They ended up putting it in a to go cup and shrink wrapping the crap out of it. It worked, but was awkward. Overall, I think this place will be great once they get going and used to the traffic. read more

Had brunch today and Tomas out server is awesome taking care of us. Also live music is really good too.

The worst restaurant experience I have ever had and I am not one to complain. Waited for an hour before we asked for the check to leave. Received our apps ran out of water never got napkins or silverware and drinks never arrived. Apps tasted good but I will not be returning read more

We had dinner just 6 days after SOL opened in Cherry Creek. It was jam packed. It's got a great vibe on a warm summer evening. The entire front had windows wide open. We had some trouble getting an order of 4 drinks, but the only reason I bring that up is to say that they handled it gracefully. We didn't get the order during our wait, but when the drinks came to our table they were delivered by the manager who comped them with her apologies. So it was a non-issue. It's easy to share plates at SOL so we started with "naked guacamole" (bland for my taste) and ceviche (nice balance of citrus and chile, super fresh). Then we shared the sweet potato & black bean taco (our favorite for flavor), grilled fish taco zarandeado taco plate, carnitas street taco plate and the shrimp chile relleno. The relleno had some heat, and while the stuffing was okay, it wasn't the stand-out in the group. The plain old "slim margarita" (non-organic version) was very fresh, not syrupy or watered down. In fact all the drinks had a kick, which deserves a shout out. Nothing like paying $11-14 for a drink and not getting a buzz. The blackberry ginger margarita got a 9 out of 10 vote, the cucumber jalapeno marg got a thumbs up, but the horchata martini was the big winner. Who knew tequila goes with horchata? We decided this was going to be our new Christmas season drink. For dessert we had the blondie 'la guera' (probably big enough for 4 people to share) and a dessert that isn't on the menu online. It was served in a terrine and had honey, goat cheese as sort of chocolate custard and who knows what else. Killer! Totally rich. Totally unique. All the servers were calm, professional and happy in the midst of opening week chaos. So nice to see a new crop of Cherry Creek restaurants arrive. If they're of this caliber RiNo will finally get some competition. Welcome SOL Cucina! read more

While it is just over an hour before closing the staff are cleaning all around you. Not the best and relaxing setting to have brooms and chairs being pulled around while you dine. Two, I had the carnitas street tacos. While the presentation looked great the quality suffers. Immediately the tacos fell apart, one taco wrapped in a very juice set of Mexican juiciness, unfortunately not enough to hold it together. Nonetheless, I asked for three more plain tacos to wrap them so I could eat them. The waitress, excellent despite the problems, it was mentioned this happens a lot. For the price, image and positioning of this establishment the quality should match. I cannot imagine why a quality taco isn't wrapped with two corn tortillas. My last comment as the staff is cleaning I see no washing of hands when grabbing beverages and or food between this end of day shut down. I really wanted to give a good review and I am confident if management pays attention to these matters and I am sure asking the question "what do we want to reflect the image we are portraying" they will be grand. Final conclusion, skip this restaurant for the price as the quality does not match for the offering. Check back I am sure they will get it right. read more
