Decided to do a little food crawl in Denver. Started at Hillstone and then stopped by Sol. Bartenders are some of the best I've ever encountered, friendly, funny, engaging but most of all just good people. Had them make some custom margaritas and they nailed it. read more

I'm newly obsessed, so I'm hoping my review isn't premature. But dayyyyyummmmn, Sol, I am so sad to have just discovered you! To preface: I haven't eaten here when it's not happy hour. Their happy hour is fabulous when it comes to both food AND drinks. That's right, the best of both worlds. The first time I stopped in was with girlfriends before some ladies' night festivities. We started with margaritas and they are perfection--plenty of salt and not too sweet. Hate it when a good marg is ruined by that cheap margarita mix. Not here! (I think the Margs were $5 each on happy hour, but don't quote me...until I go back.) As we sipped and snacks on the chips/salsa/bean dip combo, we ordered evening from the sweet potato tacos, to queso fundido, to Mexican corn (my absolute favorite), additional guacamole, and the Mexican hot dog. I think that covers it--a little bit of everything. Better yet was that the chips kept on coming. I was beyond impressed with the food. Very pleasantly so. That Mexican hot dog -- AND the corn. Bomb dot com. But the waitress was the kicker. She was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu options, and even brought us some complimentary shots. Oh my gosh, I wished she could have joined our ladies night. She is the reason I keep going back, but I have yet to see her again! Apparently I have a girl crush. That said, do yourself a solid and go. Preferably during happy hour. And then say thank you. Told you so. read more

We've lived in Cherry Creek awhile, but hadn't been here as traditional Tex Mex (read: refried beans and Spanish rice) is so high in calories. Tonight we stopped in for dinner and what a treat! It was Mexico City Mexican and NOT Tex Mex. But what really made it a great experience was our waiter, Gustavo. The menu is large and varied. Gustavo explained the menu and advised us as to what to order. He was spot on! Be sure and get one of the guacamole dishes, they are varied and way better than the traditional dish. The one we selected had mangos, goat cheese, tomatoes and something else I had never heard of that was delicious. Give them a try!! read more

I ordered from DoorDash but make no mistake... This issue was not because of DoorDash. I ordered two tacos, and some guacamole. When it arrived... For a total of $61, and I do understand that some of that is DoorDash, it came without chips. What does one do with two bowls of salsa and guacamole without chips?... They were already on the tacos. When I called the manager he said they were out of bags of chips so they didn't send them. And told me to call DoorDash with my problem. Nice responsibility for your restaurant. Up your game Sol. There are better options in town read more

Really excellent food and excellent service. This was some of the best green chile that I have ever eaten. The service was also excellent. The rest of the food was very good, but was not quite 5 stars. I actually really liked the fact that the chips were served almost like tostadas. It was an interesting concept. The one thing to note is that the appetizer menu says that it is the world's best or Colorado's best guacamole and it did fall way short on those expectations. I figured it would be more of a guacamole station as opposed to pre-made. Also it lacked taste. Maybe it wasn't avocado season. Not sure. I will call it Sol's best guacamole. How does that work. Also tried the short rib, which was pretty good, but you are probably better served with the green chile... :-) I also really liked the fact that the lines weren't out the door like at Cherry Cricket. read more

An all around bad experience. We came here on a Sunday because of the large sign our front that said "happy hour 3-6". We were greeted kindly by the hostess but we were sat at a dirty table. Literally the empty water bottle was still on the table from previous guests and the table top was not wiped down. The floor was dirty. Actually dirty. Chips and guacamole at your feet. We then sat there for about ten minutes and never had a server come up to the table. We dedicated to move to the bar to get service. The bartender was very nice but informed us that it was not happy hour. When we told him the sign out front said it was, he said they put it out on the weekend but that happy hour is only during the week. Seemed a bit of a "trick". We then ordered a frozen margarita, and was told the frozen machine was broken. At that point, we excused ourself and went across the street to a different restaurant. The lack of service and cleanliness has left me with a bad first impression, that I will not return. read more

Arrived unplanned and was pleasantly surprised by the amazing hospitality by the staff, especially Tall Zack. He's suggestions on the menu and brunch cocktails were on point and exactly what our party needed. Carly made tonight great fun! My last night in Denver with family, we stopped in for a happy hour that most definitely was (for two, even)! Yummy food, catered to our party gluten free allergies, and made us fresh and very light sweet mmmojitos. Yum! Will definitely be back on my next trip. Thanks, Carly! read more

Great happy hour! Loved the chips and salsa and our server Carly was awesome!! Will definitely come back. read more

Best tacos and margaritas in Denver! Doug was such a fun bartender and so fun to chat with! Live music was a bonus too! Definitely will be back! read more

In an attempt to be positive, the drinks are great! Expensive at 11 per margarita, but great. And the chips/salsa will do, so you could make a decent little happy hour here. Though, there do not seem to be happy hour specials in the dining room. But order food at you own peril. It is, what I would call, substandard. The cheese in the quesadilla is unduly salty, the shrimp taste unusually fishy (even for gulf shrimp). Yet, the prices (even appetizers) reflect a place that gets it right. With so many mexican/spanish restaurants in the area, the cost benefit analysis does not work out here. My recommendation: stop in, get a drink, then go to dinner elsewhere. I will say Machete down the block, gets this genre of food right. read more

Fantastic place. Amazing food. Great staff. Awesome presentation. I highly recommend this place. Some of the best tacos I have ever had. Also try the warmed goat cheese read more

Creative and fresh twist on Mexican favorites. My sister had been to Sol while on a business trip, so when we decided to go to Denver on vacation, she said she had to take me there and raved about their grilled sweet corn dish that is basically elote in a bowl (yes, you read that right). This dish was amazing, I already started eating it before the picture was taken. My sister was also talking about some of their interesting Taco's. So I tried the Short Ribs & Blue Corn Taco along with the Shrimp Taco Dorado. I liked them both, they went well with my spicy margaritas (Cucumber Jalapeno Margarita and the Pineapple Serrano Margarita's were my favorite). The staff were friendly and the vibe of the restaurant was lively (we sat at the bar). We tried the Hot & Raw Tropical Ceviche, it was just the right balance of refreshing and spicy. I would absolutely return to this restaurant and I suggest you go to it. read more

Hi, I made a yelp account just so I could write this review! I came in the other night and was lucky enough to meet Zoe, the manager. My father had a complaint about the food (which honestly was more just him ordering something he knows he doesn't like, nothing against the restaurant), and Zoe came over to see what was up. She had such charm, such kindness, such an appropriate sense of humor. It was truly a pleasure talking to her and she made sure everything was okay with us and I miss that kind of quality customer service. Also, the restaurant was great! Food was awesome, we got it quickly, our server seemed to know what they were doing. Food runners were really attentive too. Thanks for running a restaurant so well, Zoe, and go Sol! read more

Great food!! Their taco Tuesday is the way to go price-wise and their margaritas are fantastic. Only draw back is the cold outdoor, open tent dining environment but that is NOT their fault (Governor's mandate and applies anywhere you dine in Cherry Creek). They've really made the best of a tough scenario, and if your bring blankets and such it's really fun! Everything we've tried is tasty and the customer service is excellent! read more

Was just in the other night and had spectacular dinner! Our server is really the one who made the whole experience exceed our expectations. I believe his name was Oscar. He had a lot of recommendations and helped me choose the perfect fruity drink! Definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for a laid back environment and delicious food! read more

Sol is one of those charming places you just keep finding yourself coming back to time and time again. My first time here, I popped in for a drink, and two months later it has become a weekly staple! So far, I've 2 of their menu items (so good I haven't branched out yet!) - the tortilla soup and the taco sampler, both of which did not disappoint! Speaking of tacos, Tequila and taco Tuesday is exceptional here, great deals for delicious food! The atmosphere is also delightful, very cozy, with gorgeous windows and warm lighting and fireplaces. My favorite aspect of sol is definitly the service. As a regular, I have had the pleasure of meeting most of the servers and bartenders, and am always blown away by their knowledge and attention to detail. The lead bartender, Octavio, has an incredible understanding of libations, and is more than delighted to help you find the perfect drink. As a gin afficiando, Octavio introduced to me the bright and gorgeous Empress gin, elevating an otherwise simple gin and tonic. He doesn't hesitate to take a moment to answer any questions one might have, explaining his craft with simplicity and depth. They have a delightful selection of tequila and mezcal and more, with something for everyone. Sol is lucky to have people like him who can bring their food and drinks to a whole new level. 10/10 would recommend! read more

This place NEVER disappoints - happy hour is amazing and our go to! The staff is well rounded and knowledgeable! Highly Recommend!

Came here on a busy Saturday, and had an amazing time. The food was delicious, and our server Nicole was an absolute gem. She made the experience one to remember and I recommend this place to anyone! read more

Ever since they opened, this has been one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. And now that the CoronaVirus prevents us from dining in, we decided to try the take out and show them some support. And it was EXCELLENT! Although the takeout menu is not as full as the regular one, it still had a good variety. I had the Grilled Chicken burrito, rice and beans, chips and salsa and finally the Tortilla Soup. Each one was delicious. Can you tell I can't say enough good about them? The take out service was pretty easy too. I grew up on Mexican food in Los Angeles and have to say that this is maybe better. Every dish has just a slightly different take, and the result is food that is a notch better than anything else I can get, bar none. Maybe "upscale" would be a good description. read more

I do like this place a lot, and even though it's somewhat overpriced and not the best Mexican food I have ever had, it reminds me of Southern California Mexican food. It definitely is the closest I've had two decent Mexican restaurant at least in Cherry Creek/this part of Denver. There are chips are solid. They almost look like tostadas. Their salsa is really good and a little hot sauce and lime plate they give is great as well. Their guacamole unfortunately isn't the best(my fiancé next better guacamole at home). Certainly won't be getting that. You can use more lime in it! Also, another problem here is the parking situation. Parking is a nightmare so you'll end up paying for parking garage or Uber/lift. Don't try to find parking around the restaurant. Their service takes a hit when it gets busy. You're better off going at off hours rather than a few times. It almost seems like their waitstaff can't handle it. Took me about 15 minutes last time to get my chips and salsa, and they had made mistakes on my order twice. Not a huge deal but something to think about. read more

A winner in North Cherry Creek. SOL and Cherry Creek Grill are our favorites in the area. The corn was super favorable. Shrimp had a nice marinade with a very slight kick. Guacamole was fresh. Chips were homemade and perfect for the sAlsa and the bean dip. Grilled Estofado was fantastic! Wood fired grill and the chimichurra sauce lent to its unique great flavor. I like rare beef, they cooked it just right for me. Tall Zack was our waiter and he made the meal even more pleasant. Especially his recommendation of the grilled sweet corn. read more

Don't waste your time. Against my better judgement we decided to eat at this chain Mexican restaurant. I wish I could go back in time by 1.5 hours and pick literally any other restaurant. We ordered drinks and it took about 20 minutes to get 1 margarita on the rocks. I had the grilled fish tacos that were served on cold mushy tortillas accompanied by the blandest black beans and nasty rice. The only redeeming dining quality was the black bean dip served complimentary. There are waaaaaaay too many good restaurants in Denver to have to eat this garbage. Yuck! read more

This is quickly becoming one of our favourite restaurants in Denver. The guacamole is fresh and tasty and the grilled sweet corn is addictive. We love every taco we have tried -but the shrimp taco dorado and the BBQ seitan tacos are our favourites! If you go, ask for our favourite server, Tall Zach. He was always one step ahead, making sure we had everything we needed with our meal. He has a great attitude and is a super hard worker. read more

My visit was great. The manager Neater gave my friends and I great service! The drinks are always on point!

Favorite spot in Denver! Servers are super nice and menu is lovely.

SOL Cocina is such a cool and unique Mexican restaurant. The food is SO fresh and bursting with Baja inspired flavors. The staff are always on point and the GM Christina really aims to please and make sure every single customer has an amazing experience. I LOVE dining and grabbing a drink at Sol, but what keeps me coming back is the most personable, professional, attentive server Thomas. He is the reason we return time and time again! I keep coming back here since I found Sol this Spring because I have had the best time. Thomas is the absolute best server and suggests the best cocktails! Great service and amazing food. I got the battered shrimp tacos and the people I was with got the el volcan and the carne asada quesadilla. Everyone loved the food and the margaritas was amazing. Tables were spaced out nicely too and they have some outdoor seating. read more

I decided to give this spot a second chance after the manager reached out to me with an apology for my previous experience. And man, am I glad I decided to come back because the only thing that I wanted was better service because their food is amazing already. And this time around, they did not disappoint. The service was on point, our server Chris was awesome! My favorite drinks from the menu are the Cucumber Jalapeño Marg and the Watermelon Marg (winner of Top Taco Festival). I recommend the Ceviche as well with the fruit and habanero. Last but not least, the tacos are delicious - the Vampiro blew my mind so I highly recommend you try that! It's on a double tortilla with melted cheese so like a quesadilla taco! Along with the Filet & Shrimp El Jefe! Dessert is delicious as well. Both were very filling and larger than your usual street tacos. read more
