HIDDEN GEM. We had a GREAT time here, and will be back soon. I don't know how we hadn't heard about it before. But the food, atmosphere and service were all amazing! If there was one note I'd give, it was that my drink wasn't very strong. For being a mezcal drink, I should taste some smokiness, but I didn't. I've never had big filets of calamari like this before. So good! And the short rib plate served with beans and rice... omg, so good. The short rib was so tender. I'm still thinking about it now a week or two later. If you're around, go check out SOL. I hope you love it as much as I did. *They also had a party room that looked like it could seat 14 people. Could be a good option for a group or birthday dinner, etc.

Came here for a client dinner on a weeknight and it did not disappoint! We shared guac and queso for the table. They provided salsa as well. The service was great! She was able to answer all of our questions and was super attentive. I got the steak fajitas and they were very delicious! Everything was priced at a reasonable price. We also got the chocolate mouse dessert to share. If you're in the area and craving Mexican I would recommend SOL!

So I've been scoping this spot for a while. Stopped in today. Best the the bean dip! It's comes free with the chips and is unlike any bean dip I've ever had. Super good. Salsa is great also but you will hit the bean dip since it's so good. Place is clean and a smooth chill vibe. Service is perfect. I came 3pm Sunday which is when I recommend to avoid crowds. Parking sucks. Look it's cherry creek that's just the way it is. Do what I do, bring some scooters in the trunk, park blocks away and scooter over. Will def be back!

Finally stopped in and was glad that we did. The guacamole and margaritas were phenomenal. We will be back for sure.

Believe the reviews. Food excellent. Service top notch. Atmosphere spot on. Had the short ribs and it did not disappoint. The salsa was also good with a decent kick. Strangely, I wasn't a fan of the black bean dip. Solid dinner.

F O O D We came here for Adam's birthday brunch... and let's just say this place DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT. Everything was phenomenal! Our food and our drinks were to die for! S E R V I C E Our waiter was so spunky! He cracked jokes the entire time, had refills to us before we even knew we needed them, recommended his favorited to us, and even gave Adam a birthday dessert! Phenomenal service!! A T M O S P H E R E From their open bay windows to the colors to the seating! It doesn't get more classy and cozy than this! Absolutely blown away by this place and will be returning again next time we're in Denver!

Sol Mexican Cocina is seriously underrated. I had dinner here recently and was blown away by both the food and the service. The menu is inspired by Baja California and offers a coastal Mexican twist that really works: fresh ingredients, thoughtful flavor combos, and beautiful presentation. Here are the standout dishes I tried: Grilled Sweet Corn - Smoky, buttery, tangy, and topped with cotija and a chipotle drizzle. Could eat this every day. Wild Fish on Esquites - Almond-lemon crusted fish over grilled corn esquites with tomato, lime, avocado butter... absolutely packed with flavor. Warmed Goat Cheese - Sweet, salty, creamy perfection with peanuts and chipotle syrup. TJ Caesar - A fun twist on a Caesar with avocado, olives, crunchy garlic toasts, and a great house-made dressing. Grilled Wagyu Steak - Tender, flavorful, and served with tomatillo salsa and cilantro chimichurri. The space is relaxed but stylish, and the staff was incredibly warm and helpful. Whether you're looking for a chill dinner spot, a place to impress out-of-towners, or just some well-executed coastal Mexican food, Sol Mexican Cocina is a win. If it's been a while since you last stopped by, go back. You'll be glad you did.

Fish taco and SWEET POTATO & BLACK BEAN TACO

Our mid afternoon arrival put us in the perfect position to enjoy the sunshine and street view without getting too hot. Our waiter was fantastic with just the right amount of serving. We never had to look around for him. Water and chips with salsa arrived quickly while we were still looking over the menu. With specialty tacos on the menu, it was hard to decide. We ended up with carnitas taco plate, a fish taco, and the sweet potato taco. Then we split the beet and watermelon salad while waiting for the tacos to come out. The salad was pretty good upon first bite but actually improved on the plate after 10 minutes sitting in the juices. Spectacular. The tacos hit the spot too. Lots of flavor and filled just enough that you have to work at not being too messy. We thought we were done but our waiter asked if we wanted a churro. Had we walked out never eating the churro, the dining experience would have been good. Fantastic even. But the churro! It was the cherry on top of the trip to Denver and wont be soon forgotten.

My family and I were in Cherry Creek to stop and get a late lunch, while looking for a place to eat, SOL Mexican Cocina was one of the restaurants that had an opening for us. Upon arriving at Sol, we were greeted and seated immediately. This restaurant has such a cute vibe and decor, and the music was at the perfect level allowing for an ambient noise in the background, while allowing for us to hear the table convos. Our server was really great and attentive, and made sure we immediately had our drinks and chips, salsa, and bean dip. It was a pleasant surprise while we looked through the menu and decided on what we would order. Upon deciding, I ordered the lunch chicken fajitas and the esquites as a side and they both were cooked and seasoned to perfection. There's a lot of really great options for drinks, appetizers and main courses to choose from, we will definitely come back again to try out other menu items.

    House margaritas

Mexican Cocina with four friends and had the best time! From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was amazing. Thomas was hands down the best server! So attentive and full of great recommendations. The margaritas were SO good. Jess, one of the managers, also stopped by and was fantastic. You can tell the team truly cares. We'll definitely be back!

Carnintas Quesadilla with hardly any filling

Our experience at Sol tonight was terrible. To start, the table we were seated at was uneven and kept sliding around causing drinks to spill. The chips, salsa and bean dip were all good and served warm which we enjoyed. The service was incredibly slow. We went a solid half hour without water while waiting close to an hour for our food. When the food arrived, all four of us had issues with our dishes. My mom ordered the "large" mushroom taco. The larger specialty tacos are served a la carte, meaning you get one taco and no sides. The prices range from $11-$23 each. The only thing larger about these is the size of the tortilla. The amount of filling inside the taco looked like the size of a small street taco. I ordered the shrimp fajitas. They were served with just two chewy, dry tortillas. The shrimp has good flavor, but everything else was bland. My brother ordered a carnitas burrito that had a lot of fatty chunks of meat. The worst dish of all was my step dad's carnitas quesadilla. The filling was almost nonexistant. Hardly any meat or cheese in every piece. We couldnt believe our eyes. It was truly pathetic. What made the experience slightly better in the end was the AGM Andre. He came to check on us to see if we needed anything twice throughout the night, when our waiter never did. The second time he came by, my step dad shared his disappointment about his quesadilla. Andre immediately made it right. He was super kind and apologetic and was just provided exceptional customer service. Overall we will definitely not be returning to Sol, but we are appreciative to Andre for his care and concern.

Warm, happy to have us there, easy to talk to. I mentioned to my friend that I was thinking about a bloody mary, and a minute or two later Ryan asked if he should get that bloody started. He'd caught it in passing conversation, not because he was hovering. That's a hard balance to strike and he nailed it all afternoon. The drinks were great. Nothing fancy on my end, a bloody mary, a shaken screwdriver. Not too strong or weak. Sounds simple, but a lot of bartenders can't consistently hit it! We all got eggs your way, simple stuff done well. The roasted fingerling potatoes were crispy outside, fluffy inside, super good!! The strawberry jam was giving homemade, but I didn't confirm. Overall, Ryan made the visit. Calm presence, good company, and there's nothing better than a brunch seat at his bar next to those big open windows!

This was just for lunch, but started out sharing the crab croquettes. Fluffy and lightly fried with a perfect mayo-based dipping sauce. A great start. The stand-outs were the crab croquettes and the gooey butter cake. Both were incredibly good. Would definitely return and try some of the more entree-ish looking things for dinner. Location (4 stars) This restaurant is downtown near the convention center. parking is pricy if you valet park at the hotel. Last year it was around $40. Parking in the lot across the street for $25 dollars Easter Sunday. If you use a walker, I would not recommend the parking lot across the street. Food (3 Stars) The Thanksgiving buffet is the best one. I would rate that buffet a (4). The Christmas and Easter buffet are pretty low key. There is a carving station (ham and prime rib). There is an omelet station. Dessert bar is decorative. Cheesecake was delicious. The warming station with potatoes, sausage etc. leaves much to be desired. The charcuterie station is sparse. They offer unlimited mimosas for an additional $25. Service (5 stars) Staff are extremely friendly. Cleanliness (2 stars) My only complaint, I saw a tabletop being cleaned off with a rag used to clean the chairs and then under the table on the floor and on to the next tabletop. I'm just a little picky about that. Especially since folks these days go commando and wear short attire, and you know their parts are on the chair and now spread to tabletops. Wiping up the crumbs off the floor with same rag simply through me over the edge. Atmosphere (4 stars) Spacious uncrowded environment. Nice decor. Bright with large windows.

I saw Former Saint on CBS News, and the menu and food looked incredible. In particular, that white chocolate blueberry cheesecake was something I know my hubby would look forward to all week! I loved the idea of local food and fresh homemade dishes. Sounds healthy, after a week of potential over-indulgence at other restaurant week venues. An additional bonus was that it is located right near the Denver Convention Center and the Performing Arts Center. This has become a dry spot for fine dining, with even the choices on Larimer Square growing more thin, giving rise to the inability to get reservations at favorites like Tamayo and Rioja prior to a show. I go to performances frequently with friends, and despite my rule to avoid hotel restaurants (Former Saint is in the Hyatt Regency), I thought I'd scope out Former Saint as a place to take my friends before the next symphony or Children's Chorale or ballet or broadway performance. I must say, the jury is still out. Former Saint was a Jekyll and Hyde of courses. Parking was not difficult (Yay, maybe I can park here prior to my shows, if I grab a bite first). There is a large garage, and the promise of validation from the restaurant. The ambiance of the restaurant is typical hotel restaurant. Booths, tables, old and a bit drab. Except for the bar. Oh, my! The bar has this BEAUTIFUL copper creation above it, adding so much industrial character to the space! I was in awe looking at it, as it appeared to bring craft suds to the bartender's taps. I didn't ask how it worked, as it wasn't clear how the beer separation and dispensing worked, but it was a great centerpiece and spectacle for the place. I do wish I had investigated more about this architectural marvel, and will do so if I return. For restaurant week, my husband chose the Lobster Ravioli, Ribeye, and blueberry cheesecake (as predicted). I chose the Gotham salad, roasted chicken, and key lime tart. The lobster ravioli was nice; my husband was surprised that it was a toasted ravioli, but enjoyed it. My salad was full of beautiful greens, pears, walnuts, and feta. No scrimping here! The dressing was light and sweet/sour. The pears were a bit unripe and crisp, to the point that I was having trouble identifying exactly what fruit I was eating, but other than that, the salad was beautiful, healthy, and ample. My husband's ribeye steak was a nice cut, done to his liking. Slivered hash browns were underneath with a nice green chimichurri on top and some sliced Fresnos adding a welcome kick to the dish. My chicken was delightful. 1/2 chicken on the bone, seasoned nicely, and with a pan sauce. The breast was super-tender and delicious. It came atop cheesy grits, which was a yummy substitute for a mashed potato. I also was served side salad of curly lettuce and fennel. I probably didn't need more salad, but I was glad to have the healthy side on my plate. I will say that this salad was over-seasoned. The chicken and grits were great, but the salad too salty. My husband ordered a glass of J. Lohr Cabernet, which was a very nice find on the wine list, as far as a pairing for his ribeye. That said, the glass cost $30! A bit much, I might say. The real detractor, unfortunately, was dessert. The blueberry cheesecake looked nothing like the beautiful creamy white cheesecake accented throughout by purple blueberries, which I saw on the CBS News clip. My husband was served a very small solid purple slice, overcome with whipped cream dollops. This cheesecake had been uncovered in the fridge too long, with sort of a skin on it. My husband ate almost none of it. My key lime tart was similarly over-adorned with whipped cream, although I had some nice raspberries on top. The tart also seemed overexposed to the cool air, with the thickening of a skin on top. It was a very disappointing way to end a nice meal, and belied the healthy, homemade, craft theme. High points of this experience include the well-crafted and healthy entrees, the fact that we could see the convention center right outside our window (i.e., the location is perfect for pre-event or -theater), the $3.00 validated parking fee, and that beautiful copper tap system. Will the pros outweigh the cons? Will we be back with friends? Time will tell.

Laid back vibe and welcoming staff. Nothing pretentious at all. The bartenders were knowledgeable and gave great suggestions. Always stayed on top of my drinks. The thing I like most about Death & Co is the way the categorize their drinks: Light and playful, bright and confident, elegant and timeless, boozy and honest, and rich and comforting. I had the aqua profunda (cognac, St. George basil eau di vie, lillet rose, strawberry, lime, and absinthe).
