Here's the issue: A SolarXperts sales rep came to my house, analyzed my power consumption over the past year by reviewing my PG&E bills, and claimed that 7 panels would be enough to meet my needs. Well, looking at the production over the past week, it's a joke--just 1/8th of my usage. Yes, I get that it's winter and production might drop, but this isn't even 20% of what was promised. This setup is completely useless. I didn't spend $20k just to shave 20% off my power bill--it won't even pay for itself in the long run. I'd rather cancel this entire order and rely on the grid. Fix this now, or I'll take further action. read more

It's now been 10 months since I signed with SolarXperts (Freedom Forever), it took them 9 months to actually install the panels, and now, over a month later and they have not even gotten it inspected. I've called so many times, and while they're nice enough, you never actually ever get any progress. They are so slow I wished I had gone with someone else. They promised, in fact to differentiate themselves from competitors, it would be operational by Summer (when I signed in January). So we still don't have solar, now over 10 months later. SolarXperts coming out to my home was actually very timely because I was already considering going solar. I am the type of person that does extensive research before making a decision, so I knew what I wanted and what I was getting into. They came to my home for a consult, took down some information, and left to give me a quote another day. I had engaged another solar company and was also considering Tesla Solar (I knew I wanted integrated battery storage, and an partial to the Tesla Powerwall). Pricing from SolarXperts came back better for a bigger system and same amount of battery packs to the other companies comparable system mock-up. I under your with a greater than 12kW system with 2 Tesla Powerwall 2 units (should have asked for 3). Financed through Mosaic at a fixed rate, so no up front costs. Monthly payment that basically replaces my electric bill. All good in my book. Ezra, my project manager, was amazing. They contract with Freedom Forever for installation. All-in-all, a very clean install and am happy with my system. Has been active for about a month and it has been ripping ever since. I've haven't drawn energy from the grid since my system went online, but I've been sending loads of energy to the grid. So happy!! Overall the experience was very good. Ezra and Angelina in particular were very responsive and thorough. They answered all of my questions and helped guide us through. The panels were installed in the wrong place though. We generate a lot of power in the morning up through 4 or 5 in the afternoon (this is in mid spring when the sun sets at 7:30 or later, so in the summer it will get to a little later in the day). The panels are on the east facing side of the house instead of west facing, where they'd generate power starting later, but they continue to generate power up until just before sunset, when it is most used. Had we realized this ahead of time, we probably would have gotten a battery. read more

I agreed to go with Solar Xperts last year. Got my solar panels installed in Nov 2021. They also had to upgrade my electrical panel. That was all done in Nov of last year. They did not complete the panel and it is still not connected to my panels and my panels are still not working 9 months later. The communication is horrible. They went dark for months with no communication. The only I get any updates is when I call in. I am told that I am scheduled for a technician to come out and then they are a no-show. No notice or call that they are not coming out. So disappointing and unprofessional. Needless to say they won't be getting any referral business from my neighbors as I have spread the word about the poor service and lack of follow-through. Too bad, because many of my neighbors were interested in switching to solar. I am beyond frustrated with this company and will not recommend them to anyone. read more

No real issues on the front end, I expected some delays in getting the city and PGE to sign off on the project due to what is happening with covid and some hiccups with install that have all been resolved. Sticking to the theme of other reviews I received amazing service at the beginning, had my panels up within weeks of signing but it's been a nightmare since. Panels were installed in October and per the city inspection were done incorrectly and would eventually burn out my panel. Instead of fixing it per the city instructions they took over a month to "update paperwork" and then failed another inspection because nothing was done. Now, many calls and "I am going to open a ticket" responses later I still do not have a date that my panel will be fixed, I have NEVER received a call back even though they said they would every time, and during my last call this morning I was once again told that they updated my paperwork to pass the inspection because that worked so well last time. If you are looking to put up quick and expensive decorative solar panels for your roof this is the place for you. read more

Use another solar company. These guys are crooks. I was quoted 23k for a 12 solar panel system. Which was way to much for the amount of energy used. And then was called a few days after I was given the quote saying they "ran out" of the solar panels I was quoted with but luckily they had just gotten in more expensive solar panels that would add 3k onto my quote. So now I'd be paying 26k for solar. Long story short I ended up getting another quote from a company and it was 15k cheaper than the one from these guys. Just purchased solar for 8k. Hopefully this helps someone not waste their money from these people. read more

If you are considering solar, make sure this is not the only quote you get. First time writing this out was too long, here is the abridged version. I sat through a very high pressure meeting where the reps repeatedly tried to convince me to sign up for an install with them before they left. The reason they do this is because their offer will not stand up to comparison with any of the other dozen or so solar outfits in the Bay Area. I never did get a copy of the contract because the next step was signing an application with their financing company. They tried to make me do that and promised again that I could cancel at any time but at this point I'd had enough. So the only thing I wanted from the meeting, the only reason I agreed to see them, was to see their actual terms, which I never got to review. There were 2 reps in my home, I think one of them was the manager he was the one who had actual documentation. Despite that they called their manager during the meeting when they sensed some resistance from me. They also had him reach out to me the next day, when I followed up asking for a copy of the contract I signed. I think it's probably illegal not to provide your customer something they signed, but I don't want to make a federal case out of it. As I mentioned their actual terms are horrible and not at all competitive. Here's how their pitch works so that you know what to expect: They call your energy company from your home and obtain your prior year usage. They then design a system that provided exactly that amount of energy (unless you are doing something like planning to add a hot tub or electric car) and calculate the price. Then they present you a sheet of paper that shows the rate they are willing to offer you if you sign up today! And give a cash deposit, or sign up for financing. The prize for taking that leap of faith, and I recommend you don't sign up without reviewing another offer, is a better interest rate and/or 6 months of your new payments in cash. Or if you want to wait you have to agree to financing at 6.99% (3 off the 4 other companies I met with were able to offer .99%, 1 of them without even a credit check). This is a simple tactic and it's probably effective, but if you're meeting with them I strongly recommend you get another quote before you sign anything! The first document they or any other solar company will make you sign is the CPUC advisory notice to potential solar customers. 2 whole pages of that document warn you that you should not be pressured to buy anything the first time you meet with one of these guys. Please take that advice! The company we did decide to go with were a good 30% cheaper, offered .99% financing, and designed a system of appropriate size. (Yes, they were still 30% cheaper, even though their system provided 120% of the output as this quote) As a last note, the reps I met with do not understand what they are selling, which is the most serious offense. Your solar rep should be able to explain to you about time of use and how the net energy metering system works. This is why they will recommend a system that offers a little more than the amount of energy you used in the past year. At the time you need energy, in the evening, you will be buying from the provider at a higher rate than the daytime, which is when your system produces energy, and you sell back to the provider. It's not 1:1, so if you don't account for that you will end up with a large true-up bill. If a rep doesn't understand the math on that, and can't explain it to you so you can make an informed decision, walk away. Most of the negative reviews on these solar companies is in response to a surprisingly large true up bill. When I asked these guys why they weren't taking that into account, they told me that SolarXperts guarantees that it won't happen and they will make sure my system always provides enough energy. Which is ridiculous. Make sure your rep understands what they are selling, and explains it to you until you understand what you are buying. Don't waste time with these clowns. If it's Ezra or Lena that you made the appointment with I would go so far as to recommend not even allowing them over. I tried to get a copy of the documents I signed for a couple of days but they kept responding as if I was debating about the price. They don't even listen to the people they're trying to sell. read more

I've been looking into solar on and off for four years, almost more forward with a couple of companies but at the end of the day I wasn't fully enticed. My problem is I'm very sensitive about who does the work on my house and the quality of the work, I've had too many bad experienced with contractors and wanted to do my due diligence in my research. My neighbor actually got their solar and roof done by solarXperts, and he referred me. I was speculative but at the end I was very impressed by the communication with th company. When it came to updates and concern about the placement of the panels their project support was very patient and took care of me. I was concerned about the timing when the panels would be turned on but the supervisor assured this was something that PG&E only controls. Overall, the installation was done in the same day and the installers were nice guys. I paid cash so I'm not familiar with how financing works, but it was smooth and simple. SOLARXPERTS has been a disaster from beginning to end. First they do not do the roofing job, they sub contracted to a roofer who is 60 miles away from Santa Rosa instead of using a local roofer. The roofer that they hired did the cleanup of the the roof debris and nails using a leaf blower. Which is pointless as that just blew the debris all over my plants. It took me days to cleanup the yard. They were going to try and take a shortcut on what would have been a code violation of using the wrong size plywood on the roof. We managed to call the city inspector who then made them do it correctly. They also got the wrong color of roof shingles on the roof and we had to have them remove them and get the get the correct color, another delay. Now it has been almost 2 months and the solar panels are not working yet. They installed all the solar equipment right by the front of the house window instead3 of on the side of the house. This was 2 weeks ago and they have not fixed that either. This project is now on the 4th month. It is the project from He'll and I just want it to be over!!!!!! read more

I was was pleasantly surprised when my first meeting for solar seemed to be going so smoothly. SolarXperts promised to beat any estimate, which I found surprising, but was happy to hear it. The Salesperson put me at ease, and I was impressed. My job was a bit more complicated though, so there were a few details that the Salesperson couldn't answer/estimate right away. I was told I'd have the estimate by the following Wed (initial meeting was on Saturday.) Near the end of day Wednesday, I called the salesperson. Never heard back. Called on Friday. He answered and was apologetic and said I'd have it in 30 min. Now it's Sunday, I had hoped to have all my quotes together and make a decision, but nope. No quote. As I txted the Salesperson today: If this is how responsive your company is before I pay you money, I shudder to think what would happen if I ever had a problem with my system. But my assumption is, they'd ghost me much harder in that case. I hope for their sake, this means they are just overflowing with business. Though good rule of thumb: if you have so much business, that you can't handle it... you should hire more people. read more

Both were complicated projects as my live in home already had panels, and I was dealing with a large true up statement from PG&E, and then my rental property didn't have a lot of usable sunlight. That being said, I'm writing this review because even though my projects took a little longer than originally estimated, I'm very pleased with how everything turned out. My solar representative Ezra was vey patient and did an a great job explaining why I was having an annual overage charge from PG&E for my old system. He did a lot of work to make sure I'd have top of the line panels this time around for both houses to deal with the limited roof space and sunlight. Their office team was also very quick and responsive and helped me over the phone with some document questions I had. I desperately needed a new roof and already had an installed solar electric and hot water system, which was years old. Several roofers refused outright to install a new roof as they didn't want to deal with taking down the solar system and reinstalling it or working with another company to do that. Before even having an estimate done, I contacted solarXperts to find out if they would take this on. Hugo himself called me and assured me it was well within their scope. They did an amazing job taking down the solar, installing a new roof and re-installing the solar system. I received photos, voice mails and text throughout the install to keep my updated on the progress as I was out of town for part of it. My neighbor who had her own roof done recently watched the workers and told me that she was impressed with their professionalism and attention to detail compared to the company who had done her roof, who was always looking to "cut corners." I wasn't going to leave this review but my most recent interaction with this company compels me to do so. Like others, I was randomly greeted one day by a company rep at my house. After some discussion, I agreed to book an appointment to hear them out. The appointment was a week or so off, so I knew I had time to do some research and cancel if I wasn't interested. And that's exactly what I did after receiving some pretty poor responses to some questions I sent by email. This company then called me three times to "reschedule"---intentionally misreading my email which indicated that I was not interested in moving forward at this time for reasons having nothing to do with scheduling. I typically don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize but because I was waiting on a call from another contractor, I ended up answering this company's third call unintentionally. On the call, I was pressured to "reschedule" the consultation. When I explained that the issue wasn't a scheduling one, and that I had already explained in an email why I wasn't interested at this time, the caller asked me "why don't you believe in solar?" I'd obviously never said anything to that effect and the question was insulting. I was then told that the caller was here to "educate" me on solar and that if I understood solar I'd understand why hiring these company to install solar made sense. As if I was "too dumb" to understand the opportunity I was passing up. Incredible. Don't waste your time with these people. read more

Such a horrible experience. Do not use solarxperts. Anywhere else has to be better. I puchased in February and it is now September and nothing. They installed and still haven't turned on. They promisec to reimburse me because i am now getting double billed by PG&E and the solar company. Where is the savings if I'm paying double. Shady pitched a good sales demo but disappeared after he got the sale. I never heard from him again.
