Yum! Probably the best meal I have had in a restaurant in many years. I had one of their signature dishes, coconut shrimp tacos. It was amazing! Their house margarita was also top notch. Had some chile con queso dip with 3 different cheeses to start and all was well. Then tried some macho nachos with extra cheese and jalapenos and that is when the trouble started. Barely made it to the bathroom and it was full. If you are going to serve this kind of food, you need to have adequate restroom facilities for customers. read more

Very tasty. Salsa cup is smaller than the chips. I see what everyone is saying about the location and it's true that if it's cold out, you want to sit away from the door. They go a little heavy with cheese, it was on everything. All in all it was tasty food at a good price with good service. read more

Absolutely LOVE this restaurant. For some reason THIS location is better than any other one. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the tamales. I swear by them . The steak tacos are great. So are the chicken ones. The Chimichangas are great, I ordered one with steak one time and it was fantastic. The fried ice cream here is really good as well. And the smoothies, don't even get me started. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I have eaten at all 3 of the Solea restaurants in Appleton, Menasha, and Neenah, and while all are very, VERY good, I've found that the food at the Menasha location is just a little bit better. Is it the "cozier" atmosphere, the overall friendliness of the staff? I have no idea, but I've been drawn back to this location again and again. I really enjoy Mexican food and Solea has never disappointed me. Bar service has always been accurate, friendly and fast. Food is very good, well prepared and fast. At my most recent visit, I had the Shrimp burrito and it, as well as it's accompaniments, were very good. Plenty of well prepared shrimp, just enough seasoning as to add to the flavor of the dish without overpowering it. Highly recommended!!! We will be back... read more

House margarita is an excellent way to smooth over the rough spots in your day and set up your taste buds for some really good tex-mex food. We shared the Mocajete for $16. It is a sizzling pot of a mixture of meats and shrimp with peppers and onions. (Like fajitas in a pot.) The seasoning was great and the portion was ample. I have never had a bad meal at this place. Thursday night dinner early at 5:30 no wait and no crowd. The server was always there when needed, excellent margaritas no big ice chunks. We ordered fajitas for two. Server said it was enough for four but I think 4 adults and two kids could have eaten it. Huge sizzling platter for $28 add the drinks and an appetizer for $42 dinner with leftovers for a day or two. Steak was tender and juicy. Tasted great. The chips are free and fabulous I didn't ask what they cook (vegtable or canolla etc) them in because I couldn't stop eating them. Good stuff. read more

UGH. Been 3 times over the last 3 years and today was the worst. Tacos- chewy corn shells, tasteless beef, minimal cheese, water logged lettuce. Sampler appetizer- dry, tasteless, cold. This is not exactly a review but an advisory that though this is the original location and is still in operation, there are two newer and much larger locations in the Fox Valley. One is just off of Highway 41 @ Breezewood exit in Neenah which was 2nd one opened. The other is just west of the Fox River Mall off Casaloma Drive. I've not personally been to this original location but am a frequent patron of the other two most particularly the one at the mall. I guarantee that if you are an aficionado of authentic Mexican cuisine and a very broad choice ( including many fish and, pork dishes) you will celebrate your experience at Solea! Another real plus is their serving staff ! The proprietor must be very good to the staff since they are very loyal. This results in their getting to know you and you them and thus very personal service. Have many favorite dishes and all are delicious.... More on that another time . Solea is an AMAZING place. Very inexpensive, there are two locations, but the one in Menasha is my favorite. Though sometimes its a 30-45 min wait. The atmosphere is better, though the other place off of 41S has a lot more seating, and a real nice area with real furniture to sit and socialize. Monday through Thursday margaritas are buy one, get your 2nd free!! And good margaritas too. The food is out of this world. The chicken mole burrito is by far my favorite. And the staff is VERY friendly. This is one of the best places in the Fox Valley area by far! I can not believe no one has added it yet. read more

The food is ok and I had decent experiences prior (nothing special). But today they messed up my order and instead of apologizing they blamed it on me and told me that I ordered something else. I phoned in a to go order and asked for the tacos de calle which is 3 steak tacos. When I clarified and said 3 steak tacos I guess he took that as the taco trio which is something different. When I picked it up I said that wasn't what I ordered and then they told me I would have to wait 20 minutes for the right order (which is funny cause even I can make tacos in less time). When I questioned that he said they had other orders ahead of mine making it obvious they would not go out of their way in any way to make it right. The manager didn't care and seemed to find it amusing that I was upset and even smiled and laughed. There are plenty of other decent Mexican restaurants in the area that actually care about customer satisfaction so I guess I'll go there next time. read more

On another leg of our getaway, my wife and I found ourselves in the Appleton area and turned to Yelp! for a restaurant recommendation. For whatever reason, Mexican seemed intriguing tonight, so we found Solea near the Fox Cities Mall. We were seated quickly, and we ordered a couple of Margaritas - very tasty. Appropriately, World Cup soccer was being aired on every television -- and telecast in Spanish nonetheless! Perfect ambiance. My wife ordered the sizzling fajita salad and I ordered the simple beef burrito. Both were served in less than ten minutes. And both were excellent. Would give five stars, but I am a newby, and I don't know what five stars looks like yet. Great place. Enjoy! read more

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the Valley. The fajitas are the BEST. My husband and I can share are regular plate or bring the whole family and order the fajitas for 2. am a authentic Mexican looking for the real thing, what I found here was eeeh.. too wow! we went with our kids and ordered chicken nuggets which was made from real chicken-thumbs up, I ordered the carnitas which was eeeh, not bad but nothing to brag about and I have been searching for the elusive carnitas for the last three years, my wife ordered the mexi version of paella, whomever cooks this dish needs an award, it was one of the best seafood dishes I and my wife have ever ate, the shrimp was on point as was the scallops and mussels, only the octopus was rubbery probably added too soon, but rite spice and rite flavor. so pick this dish not the carnitas. service was slow but food can compensate. read more

Of all the Mexican places in town this is the best! Huge portions, awesome staff. They do a really good job and prices are reasonable.
