I don't often do yelp reviews, but I have to say these guys are the best. I had them install a remote activated ventless gas fireplace a few years ago, and the remote stopped working. I called them, they quickly assessed the problem and told me they had to order the parts... and set up an interim switch so I could use the fireplace. They came back in a few weeks, replaced the parts and let me know it was under warranty so this was done for no charge. Not even a service call. We bought a house built in 1906 in 2015. Fireplace was used 2x in that history but old tile liner was deteriorated. Sol's came out and provided the most thorough and affordable bid out of 3. Also, and this speaks volumes, the guys didn't bitch and moan about what a big job it was. We had one company come out and cry the whole way they through...never even sent us a bid. We had fireplace and utility passageway relined and everything that goes with it. It wasn't cheap but well worth it because i wanted to burn wood. Sol and his brother are the real thing when it comes to honest, reasonably priced, go out of their way to give good service. We had them come out to clean our fireplace chimney since it hadn't been clearnd in about 5 years and we use the fireplace non stop in the winter. They pulled out enough residue to fill a small pick-up truck, didnt' chastise us for creating a fire hazard, and pointed out the fireplace tiles were cracked. Had to special order and build the new tiles due to the odd size of the fireplace. Did the work and all was good. Will use no one else. Well I had some Carbon Monoxide being detected by my sensors in my house on Friday May 17th @ about 12:30 am. Therefore, I called 911 and the Fire dept. came out and detected the Carbon Monoxide in the house. Next, they called People gas, Peoples Gas detected it as well, and it was due to my Water heater and Furnace Flue piping, and the fact that my Chimney had a leak in the bricks near the basement. So I called Sol's on Saturday May 18th around 4:30 pm and they did call me back within 30 minutes. Therefore, Sols came by on Sunday afternoon and gave me an estimate on what the job entailed. So today on May 21st they came by just like they said they would in the morning and installed my new linear in my Chimney as I did not have one in my chimney. In addition, they replaced and rerouted all by venting for my Water heater and furnace. Therefore, I was amazed at how much of a difference this did to my Furnace as the house heats up a lot quicker then it use too. So far, I am very happy with the work that was done at my house as they were very professional. They explained everything as they were working on it when I asked them questions and cleaned up as well as if no one had done any work there. The bricklayer work they did on my chimney as well looked awesome as well. I had a problem with my Chimney and even I was told that they had a busy schedule, the manager personally called me and fit me in a convenient time. The job was done properly and I did agree with the price during the estimate to avoid any future inconvinience (that I experienced with other companies), I gave 50% ahead and 50% at the complexion of the job. My place was left as clean and neat like they find it and the guys were very puntual and friendly. I also were happy with the price. I received a confirmation call one day before and I did confirm that I was going to be home. I don't like surprises or misundertandings and I felt very confortable dealing with this company. As we had recently closed on our condo, we noticed that soot was constantly falling from our closed wood burning fireplace, which also caused a smoke smell in our home. We had Sol and his guys install a chimney liner and repair the brickwork that was damaged because of the lack of the proper chimney liner over many years. Back in 1999 the chimney was rebuilt before we had a high efficiency unit put in. The heating contractor never even discussed the ceramic chimney liner needing to be fitted with a metal liner to stop flue gas condensation. Needless to say, all the bricks around the chimney under the eaves were spalling and deteriorating with each passing winter because of the condensation venting improperly. Sol came out and knew what the issue was right away. He explained everything to us and what it would entail. His quote was quite reasonable and he wasted no time in getting it to us. Sol knows his business and treats the work as if it was his own house. He did a great job installing, repairing, tuckpointing , and cleaning up while making sure they protected my neighbors house from anything that might have been an issue in the way neighbors have issues with contractors. He even took care of some of the issues that he ran across that were above the scope of the work. He scheduled us in for a couple of days work and the job looks great. Anyone have a problem with them taking the damper down to clean the shelf and then reinstalling it backwards so the damper no longer hinges to the outside wall? Then they tell you it won't close because it's warped when in fact it won't close because the flap is now hitting mortar on the outside wall! read more

The guy seemed angry that he had traveled so far - why did he take the job in the first place? We closed on our condo today at 10am - we're first time homeowners so we thought we'd be in and out of the title company. I scheduled the appointment with Sol between 11 and 12. He called early that morning to confirm our appointment and told me if we run late at the closing he'll try to rearrange his schedule to accommodate us. Well we did run late and we're not back at the condo until 12:15 but he Sol was so flexible and met us to check out our chimney. I ordered the chimney sweep because during our home inspection, the inspector said it was in definite need of a good cleaning, but when Sol checked it out he said,"Your chimney is fine - doesn't need to be cleaned, call me after this winter and I'll come check it out again. I called Sol's Chimney Sweep to clean my 100-year-old chimney because it was not drafting well. When Sol arrived and inspected at the chimney he noted the age of the chimney, the amount of efflorescence and the lack of a liner. Since I had a water heater and furnace, that were both under 5 years, they put out more water vapor which was causing the efflorescence to increase. He showed via a hand mirror the build-up in the chimney. He could have taken my money for a cleaning AND a liner but instead recommended that a liner was all that was needed. We agreed on the type of liner, he closed up the chimney, booked an appointment to install the liner and went on to his next appointment. I appreciated his honesty and integrity along with his expertise on chimneys. When the liner was fabricated and installed by Sol and his team they did a fabulous job.
