The aebleskivers are an absolute tourist trap. Don't fall for it! They're very mediocre.

My dining experience here was bitter sweet. The food was amazing, especially the aebliskiver and the Danish sausages. However, the service was absolutely terrible. I don't know if it was just our waitress, but she was extremely rude and sassy even though she messed up on our order. She charged us extra and when we asked her about it, she told us "what do you want me to do about?" Obviously it was her mistake and she acted like it was our fault. Definitely enjoyed the food, but the service is not worth coming back for. read more

Our order is still on its way, but I want to mention how thoughtful this restaurant is --- they created a booklet for people who has allergies. My daughter is allergic to corn, and it's so hard to avoid as corn is everywhere and not many people are allergic to it. However, they have it in their booklet and helped me choose something that doesn't have corn. read more

We came here for lunch, I don't recommend the food, probably the most expensive worst tasting food we ate in town. However I highly recommend the Aebleskivers! This place feels like a Scandinavian diner (if there's diners in Scandinavia). The aeblerskivers were pretty good. Not too sweet, not soggy, just cooked right and prepared on order. The raspberry jam on top tastes really fresh, like they made it themselves (or bought good jam, lol) Our waitress was pretty nice, I have no compliants. The only thing I didn't like was that our table was kinda sticky. Perhaps too many spilled raspberry jams, haha. We also got the danish sausage which tasted like a good european sausage. This place is about the aebleskivers. If you get only these you'll be happy. If you don't get any of these, you'll be sad. If you get them with other stuff...you'll be melancholy. Seriously..the aebleskivers were great. The rest of our breakfast was pretty lame. The "danish" ham looked like it had just slid from a can a few minutes earlier. It was like military grade meat. The eggs, toast, etc. were ok but not great. Not a bad little place for a breakfast in the heart of the Solvang village but 2 better places are Paula's for their rocking pancakes and superior other dishes and (even better) the River Grill restaurant at the golf course on the outskirts of town. Yum! Next time I come to Solvang I'll swing by the take out window of this place for some "walking-around" aebleskivers, but likely skip this place for breakfast. read more

ordered the Asbleskivers,.... it is what it says. A pancake ball. I was expecting more of a funnel cake taste, it wasnt, If you love pancakes, then you will love these things. The jam that they use has a hint of orange so it is slightly tangy rather than all sweet. read more

Good food and great service. The food didn't wow me but it was solid as expected. We ordered their sausages, a country fried steak, Danish meatballs, salad, cream of asparagus soup, split pea soup and of course their famous aebleskivers. One word - Aebleskivers! The Danish version of a jelly doughnut. It's very yummy and a Solvang must. These amazing treats can be purchased in the restaurant or at the convenient take out window. You can watch them make them through the window which kids ( and adults) find fascinating. The restaurant has good food overall and the service is very friendly. The kitchen is super quick. We had our food within 10 minutes of ordering. Coffee is always be refilled which is the reason for the 5th star. Don't miss this place! read more

I'm pretty sure all the food is precooked. It came out waaaayyy too fast, and not in a good way. I had the meatballs, cabbage and veggies. Totally not worth the $. The meatball had no flavor. I wouldn't even know I had anything in my mouth if it weren't for the sugar in the cabbage. I didn't give this restaurant 1 star because their aebleskivers are so yummy. My dad made them for us as kids all the time, but theirs were better. (Luv ya dad). read more

Pretty much like a diner in appearance, service and food. It's like a Scandinavian themed version of Denny's.They have Aebleskivers, so if that's what you're looking for in Solvang, it's worth stopping by. I have to start of with my first impression. It is 10am we walk in with about 6 other tables all at the same time, and are left sitting there for at least 10 minutes. I notice that one of the waitresses is taking her break and having breakfast. The place is now busy and we are sitting there with no service! Really a break at 10am?? Anyway, the one good thing about this place when we finally got served were the special pancakes, those were good. However, I would not go here for breakfast. I would only go for the pancakes and you can get those to go! Many other places that are way better in Solvang. read more

Wow just as I remembered from over 30 years ago. My parents would bring us to the restaurant for the Æbleskivers. I treated my wife to a childhood memory today. And wow she fell in love with the Æbleskivers. I may be a bit one sided about my five stars but the place was great and the staff on top of it. I had serious mixed feelings about my experience here. We got lucky and were seated immediately for breakfast but had to wait almost 40 minutes before our food arrived because there was a mix-up with our order. First, it got delivered to the table next to us. So then we had to wait longer for our food to come. Then we noticed that our meals that were supposed to come with wheat toast never had the toast delivered. We also ordered the regular stack of pancakes (3), but we only got two. Sigh. The food itself was pretty good. We did not care for the aebelskiver-- didn't taste very good to us. The pancakes were pretty good, but we both thought the ones from Greenhouse Cafe were better. We did notice, however, that the ingredients used were fresher than at Greehouse Cafe. If you are willing to risk having your order screwed up and aren't super hungry or in a rush, then try it out. If not, probably better off going somewhere else. read more

The food was mediocre. I shared a grilled chicken and sundried tomato sandwich with fries with my friend. It was soggy, covered in mayonnaise, and the fries only tasted of old grease. The reason I gave 3 stars is because: Service 5+ Food 1 (a few items were good but overall pretty sad) I wanted to like the food because our service was excellent (thank you, Custodio!). I had the meatballs and my fiancé had the sausage platter. Since we both have some food sensitivities, we appreciated that Custodio was so knowledgeable about all the dishes' ingredients. I was surprised (and disappointed) to learn that they cook the æbleskivers in peanut oil, but c'est la vie. I got to sit after my meal and watch my fiancé chow down on them ala mode, and he said they were really good. I then wandered over to a bakery down the street (fortunately there are a lot of them) for a sweet treat. I started with the pea soup, which had me thinking we had chosen a decent place to eat because it was thick, hot and flavorful. Unfortunately, that is the last good food until the æbleskivers. My fiancé said the sausage plate was "okay". Since my meatballs were rubbery, I had to wonder if they microwave them. The same goes for the mixed vegetables...if a restaurant can't be bothered to steam veggies to order instead of either soggy-boiling or nuking them then they should just leave them out. They were sad-looking and flopped around like spaghetti noodles. I also couldn't figure out why there were absolutely no spices in anything...the meatballs, mashed potatoes, gravy, and beans all were incredibly bland. The only thing with any flavor at all was the red cabbage, but I don't like it much so only had a few bites. I can't imagine that Danish people don't like spices, at minimum salt and pepper. So I wish I could recommend this place in order to give Custodio more business...maybe just order the pea soup and æbleskivers? Oh, and iced tea...very good, and my glass was refilled regularly without me having to ask. read more
