Word on the street this spot got the best aebleskivers I got the simple aebleskivers with raspberry jam and powder sugar. It was piping hot when it came out covered with the jam and a very light sprinkle of powder sugar. To me, it tasted like a light fluffy pancake in a ball. Overall it, not a bad dessert to try out and it is reasonably priced $4 for 3 aebleskivers. I would share some with friends if they wanted to try it out. Absolutely disgusting. While exploring Solvang, my friends and I noticed a very long line that stretched almost halfway down the block. Upon discovering it was for 'danish donuts,' we decided to give them a try, assuming they must be amazing to attract such a queue. However, I'm not sure if it was due to making too many at once, but our Aebleskivers tasted awful--practically raw in the middle. I couldn't swallow the bite I took. I came here ONLY for the Æbleskivers, and was really disappointed. I didn't try other other Æbleskivers places in Solvang, but after this one I didn't know if I'd want to try more. They're like pancake balls but not light, really dense pancake balls. There was WAY too much jelly on top in my opinion and not enough powdered sugar, but maybe that's how people eat them? She wasn't happy that we asked for a receipt and when my wide told her she needed one she reluctantly provided one and literally threw it on the table . One thing... Æbleskivers! So far in Solvang, after having tried dining at a restaurant for some authentic Danish breakfast and eating a pastry from a popular bakery my food experience has only been mediocre at best. I have been tipped by a few friends who followed my check-ins in Yelp and Instagram to make sure I try the Æbleskiver... the wha?? okay, that took me awhile to try to pronounce the word but on our last day before heading back home I made sure to stop by Solvang Restaurant to try some of Arne's famous Æbleskivers. I ordered them to go. Each order came with 3 pieces of Æbleskivers and we placed two orders. Although there is a side window that opens there was sign posted outside that said to come inside for take out orders... maybe that window is used when the inside of the restaurant gets crowded, not sure. The verdict: Winner! So apparently these are Dutch jam-filled donuts (or are they pancakes) in a unique round shape. They are like pancake balls coated in jam syrup. The name literally means apple slices in Danish. We were advised to eat it before it gets cold. I told them not to worry... it'll be gone by the time we leave Solvang. This restaurant was very COVID friendly. In the town of solving, it was one of the multiple restaurants selling waffles. We ordered the abelskivers and the chicken and waffles. The abelskivers were very delicious and perfectly delightful. The chicken and waffles however were less than delicious. The waffles tasted very plain, like dorm food waffles. The chicken was very crispy, but the breading was so plain, and the chicken was super dry. I recommend getting the abelskivers here, but I think that you can find better waffles elsewhere. The line also took a long time for the food to be prepared, and it was so disappointing that the chicken and waffles were the driest food I've had in a very long time. read more

This is our 4th time visiting Solvang restaurant, also first time after the pandemic. There were a lot of ppl at the place when we arrived ( around 12pm), which is reasonable since its a landmark haha. We only had to wait 25mins until our name called. The ableskivers are still fluffy and delicious as always. The sausage platters I had was better than the last time, and I'm not complaining. Service was great and attentive. A bit annoying thing was our seat was next to the dishwasher/kitchen room so it was a bit noisy while they washing dishes and loading stuffs, but it is understandable. Come get the ableskivers!!! I don't go out to breakfast often so I was really hoping this food would be great or at least fairly decent. What I was served was disappointing. The eggs benedict had overcooked eggs, which, minus the nice runny yolks made everything somewhat dry as there was not much hollandaise to help with that. The hashbrowns were way underdone. There were a lot but they just seemed to be barely browned on the top and the bottom and then everything in between was just steamed. There weren't many people dining there. At first I thought it was because there were two men in Trump hats but it turns out it was the food. Note to cook, poached egg yolks should be runny and potatoes need to be cooked. On the good side, the restaurant was clean and the waitress was friendly. The atmosphere was appropriate for a little Danish village. Sorry, that's all I've got on the positive side. read more

Very basic. Was seated and ready to order before 2 other tables were seated and they had their orders taken first. We tried their famous dish "the danish pancake balls" and they were cold. Bacon was cold and floppy like it was cooked hours ago. Hash browns were either from a bag or frozen. The home of Aebelskivers in Solvang, hands down. They even have a to-go window, if you want them as a snack. It can get pretty crazy in the summer, especially on weekends, so try to go at non-peak times. Even though they have an all-day menu, we have only ever eaten breakfast here. It is dependably good, every time. We've been coming here since I was a little kid, and it hasn't seemed to change at all. Their medisterpölse sausage is so good, and I always have to have Aebelskivers. I look forward to at least 1 breakfast here every trip. They also have a section up front with Danish jams, and you can buy your own Aebelskiver pan so you can replicate them at home. (If you didn't buy the infomercial "pancake ball" kit that was on tv, that was an Aebelskiver pan & a filling injector!) Last time we were there, we ended up in the Sideways booth without realizing it. I think people request it on purpose, because it's the booth they're seen in during the movie. It was a fun surprise, but I'm glad the craziness has died down. You couldn't have gotten anywhere near the area, right after the movie came out. read more

The Aebleskiver here is good but the wait was so long and takes forever. It is good for first time experience which I read up there's other restaurants that makes it better with less wait. We were told that if we were to try anything in Solvang, we had to try aebleskivers, which are essentially danish pancake balls with powdered sugar and a jam sauce. The line was shorter than normal, but it still took 30-40 minutes to finally order. Once we did, it was relatively fast. We got the sauce on the side because we didn't want it to get soggy and wasn't sure how sweet it would be, but without the sauce, the aebleskiver would be so bland. The sauce definitely made it tastier! Overall we're glad that we got to at least try the infamous aebleskiver (plus it's so worth the price), but probably would not wait 30+ minutes for it again...it's one of those you-have-to-try-it-once-in-your-life kind of foods! read more

I came here expecting another mediocre vegan sandwich but was blown away by their veggie sandwich (it's not vegan but can be made without mayo or cheese). The veggies were crisp and super fresh, and the fries seemed to be cooked in brand new oil. The serving size was just perfect as well -- not too little but not so much that you leave feeling stuffed and bloated. I'll definitely be returning to this restaurant when I come back to Solvang and would recommend it for its attention to quality. We love Solvang Restaurant. My wife and I got the Cranberry Turkey sandwich and the Sausage Sandwich. Super duper yum! (Pro tip, get the cheese and put it on the lettuce it is REALLY GOOD) Cheese that good isn't easy to find in a restaurant. The server was super nice but they forgot the silverware! Oops! So I wanted to try the Æbleskiver before we left Solvang, so we stopped by here the Solvang Restaurant. They have a little window were you can just buy 3 and be on your way. Yeah well that didn't happen! The line was as ridiculous as trying to find parking so we looked inside saw it was empty and decided to eat a little lunch. We were seated right away and apparently at a booth that was in the film Sideways, I haven't seen it by the way lol. So since we're in Solvang we stayed away from your typical American breakfast and went with the Danish side of the menu, why not I say. My sister ordered Danish Meatballs and it came with a side of split pea soup. I got a Sausage Platter and a side of chili with cheese. Soo after trying these dishes I came to the conclusion that I do not like red cabbage or sauerkraut, probably because their veggies lol. Surprisingly I did like the meatballs, the gravy and mashed potatoes probably helped. See I'm used to only trying Italian meatballs so this was a little different but they weren't bad. The Sausages were ok, nothing to shout about. There was only one out of the four I really liked, I would have liked them a little bit more grilled even if it was on a flat top. The Æbleskiver, the main reason we were here lol were actually good. I left the one with extra powered sugar for my sister though. I took the one with more jelly lol. I wouldn't mind coming back if we were to be back in the area, staff around here was really friendly. read more
