Very nice family cozy styled restaurant. Very relaxed atmosphere from not only the staff but the patrons. Makes for a nice experience for breakfast. Go inside and seat yourself, menu has a lot of items. We picked the Sampler as we not only love to get eggs but French toast and pancakes. Service was very quick. They use a coffee station so it allows you to choose your style of coffee. Staff was very aware and intuitive to the customers as they were all over helping everyone. Finally, their portion control was great. Enough to fill you up and not enough to over stuff you, kudos to the chef.

The service was friendly and quick. The restaurant is adorable on the inside. Totally retro decor with all-you-can-drink coffee. The menu is simple and enticing to order from. I love this place. I will definitely come back.

Come here for breakfast with my family anytime we're in the area. It's a great spot for breakfast with unique specials daily! Loved the sausage and gravy (although I do wish it was on a biscuit and not bread). The Carrot Cake Waffle specialty they had was outstanding. If they have a special that interests you try it! The service is really friendly although they do tend to be super packed on weekends. The ambiance of this restaurant is what really makes it stand out I love the cozy feel and decorations on the wall.

Grinch special French toast. Double chocolate banana bread with cream cheese glaze, chocolate sauce and bananas. So good!

We moved away and have been gone for 7 years. Coming back I knew that somewhere in time was at the top of my list for places to go back to. It's still just as wonderful. The specials change weekly, and I keep an eye on their Facebook page for when they are posted(typically later Friday), and plan if I'm going to go the next week based on what I see. I have noticed their waffle specials sell out and are off the board by the time I come in, even if it's a Tuesday, and that's a bummer, but I'm normally wanting their French toast anyway! In the two months we've been back, we have gone twice. First I got chai maple pumpkin bread French toast, and today I got the grinch special French toast which was double chocolate banana bread, with cream cheese and chocolate drizzle and banana slices. Both were amazing! I always get a meat side, like bacon or corn beef hash to break up the sweet with something salty. The service is always amazing. Personable and kind. Food always comes out quickly. Inside is seat yourself, which can get a little wonky when it's full, but we typically find a spot pretty quick! They are also no longer cash only! They now take cards!

Hear ye hear ye-please report to Somewhere in Time Cafe for a delicious breakfast with friendly service and allergy friendly options. Do not bypass this option, I can't believe I was not aware of this adorable place before today. We had a change in plans and decided to go in another direction for the day and we're starving. I quickly googled gluten-free breakfast and found this shining light in a food desert area. She quickly outlined the gluten-free options and told us that she would avoid cross-contamination. Upon arriving there is plenty of parking. There's also a lot of seating. We received the extensive menu quickly. There are so many options! My Kid opted for the gluten-free toast which was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of powdered sugar on it. It was accompanied by a nice size of crispy bacon. It was approved and the plate was cleaned! I ordered the veggie scramble with sourdough toast. It was delicious! It had a ton of different vegetables in there but it was a good balance of vegetables and eggs. Sometimes when restaurants make vegetables scrambles it gets too watery but somehow the cook avoided that. The toast was grilled which was interesting But it was fantastic. I honestly can't think of anything negative to say about our experience. I really hope our next visit there is just as fabulous as this one was. I'd like to commend the staff for offering gluten-free options that are actually cooked separately, a lot of restaurants don't realize that if you cook gluten-free pancakes or French toast with the regular options then that makes it not gluten-free. Really appreciate the knowledge and attention!

Small but nice atmosphere. All the food was great with the grits taking the cake. We had a mix of breakfast and lunch, with everything coming out hot at the same time. Multiple waitresses/servers checked on us at good intervals.

Food was amazing! Love the self service coffee bar. They make their own freshly brewed coffee, which was soo good. It's a cozy diner vibe, felt like we were at home

Breakfast club sandwich with extra bacon

Small place with great food. I read about the breakfast club and came just to try it and was definitely not disappointed. Ham, egg, bacon, lettuce, tomato, was perfect combination. All the breakfast food I wanted in a club sandwich. And what a large portion. I could only eat half and took other half for the road. I also filled up on lots of self service coffee. I was very impressed and they did indeed ask me if I was ok and did I love the sandwich and was there any way they could help me!! Somewhere in Time is right on Time! My next Connecticut visit will see me there again.

We were seated at a lovely table for two overlooking Main Street - watching people stroll by from that elevated perch behind glass felt almost cinematic. The real star of the show was the food, which is ultimately what you're there for, and it delivered. The menu offers plenty of options without being overwhelming. I started with the Crispy Pig's Head as an appetizer - a bold choice that turned out to be outstanding. For my entrée, the bucatini with seacoast mushrooms, sherry, parmesan, mushroom cream, and fine herbs was perfectly cooked, and carried a subtle but deeply flavorful sauce. And the housemade sourdough with poblano honey butter? Absolutely outstanding. To be fair, our server took a little time to warm up but found their footing and gave us everything we needed. Parking in Mystic on a busy weekend night can also be a challenge and expensive. Neither is reason enough to skip this one. Ship Wright's Daughter is exactly the kind of restaurant Mystic deserves. I had a crab and asparagus Benedict and pierogies. I will grant that the Benedict was well done. Poached egg was perfectly runny and the hollandaise had a wonderful light flavor. The pierogies and the potato hash, however, were pedestrian at best and I didn't eat most of the potatoes as a result. The menu has impressive range you wouldn't find at most places, but I wasn't excited by most of my meal so I'm left with thinking I might come back here but I'd never say this is a place you have to go to.

The chips appeared to be homemade, and they were tremendous along with the salsa Verde and Macha. There was a nice kick to the salsas and a perfect crunch from the chips. However, it just felt like the dish was mostly chips. I felt like more toppings could be added or an additional egg. The fried egg was also a little overcooked, guess when ordering, we could have specified how we wanted it to be cooked. The doughnut was okay. The sourdough base was very solid, but essentially just a lot of cheese on top. I was not sure what to expect regarding this type of doughnut, but this was the least optimal choice. Will I go back? They were fresh and went down smoothly. The mignonette that was served with it was interesting. It seemed to have some sort of orange juice incorporated, but who knows. It was not bad. I preferred the cocktail sauce and horseradish provided. The mussels came in a coconut lemongrass broth with chili, cilantro, and lime. These were some of the freshest mussels I had in a while. It was noticeable to me from the feel and taste. The coconut lemongrass broth was a nice compliment and very flavorful. The burger was a quarter pound smash patty with cheddar cheese, umami mayo, lettuce, pickles, and white onion. This was cooked ideally to a medium-medium rare temperature. The bread was the key as it held the toppings and was of good ratio. The pickle was nicely folded and placed where it was not hanging off the burger. It was a little sweet, but not a big deal.
