First time visiting the Somisomi in Downtown Brea and I was not disappointed! Pushing open the door and walking into a cool, refreshing environment (saving me from the 80+ degree weather outside), I was instantly greeted by welcomes of the always-smiling employees. Though I was familiar with the menu from previous Somisomi restaurant experiences, the cashier navigated me expertly and my order was quickly places without any difficulty. Service was very quick and while receiving my toppings, the employees ensured my satisfaction and took the time to make the Taiyaki presentable (as seen in attached picture). Overall, an amazing first impression from the new location of Somisomi. I read a few complaints regarding the temperature inside but I didn't face such conditions and they have fixed that issue! The only glaring hitch would be that it was a little unclear in where the line begins once you enter the shop. I would recommend visiting during the hot summer to cool off and is a great location for a satisfactory dessert! read more

I stopped by Somisomi's opening day and the experience was very good despite how busy it was. The place was organized with balloons around and a somisomi sign on the wall. The cashier Ellie Y was very welcoming and nice. She guided me through the menu and helped me choose what I got. I got the upside down ah boong with Nutella filling and Boysenberry ice cream. The wait was pretty short for my order and while i was waiting I noticed Meghan B making ah boong cones, they looked very neat and well put together. I'm so glad that this location opened because not only is it closer to me than others, they still have the same yummy taste and wonderful service that I love! If you've never been here, I recommend getting an upside down ahboong in a cup, because then you basically get the best of both worlds with having ice cream and a fish tayaki! Since it recently opened, the lines have been somewhat long when I've gone, but they do a good job in providing quick service. Finally got to try this place out. Fairly new location opened in DT Brea not long ago. Inside it's pretty spacious, but note there are zero chairs, only counters which are fairly high up, not very short people (like myself) friendly. Maybe some lower counters or regular tables would be nice, even if placed outside. Staff was friendly, but they don't do samples, so if you're unsure what to order, stick to the more popular flavors. I went with Ube because Ube is life, and it was good. The waffle cone itself is whatever, not much flavor, and I'd definitely skip it next time. My kid got the cookies and cream and he didn't finish it, didn't care much for it. He did not like the cone at all. Love this location! It just opened recently and it's a cute spot near downtown brea. We were able to get the new pistachio flavor mixed with cookies n cream and it was so delicious! The staff was also super nice even though it was a little busy! Definitely appreciate that. Somi Somi in Brea opened and this is now the closest location to me! I love how efficient the staff are here and everyone was so friendly and sweet. Special shoutout to Trina who helped us at the register! She was very helpful when I asked her about the different flavors of ice cream and taiyaki fillings. I'll be back! We attended the friends and family soft opening. It's a cute shop in bustling downtown Brea off Birch St across from the theater and comedy club with lots of foot traffic. There was already a line forming outside with curious pedestrians. Friendly staff is ready to greet and serve you with a smile. They make their taiyaki fish cakes fresh in house which serves as a cone stuffed with your choice of fillings and soft serve ice cream, and toppings. This location had a great atmosphere! The interior was very clean and the service station was organized very nicely! The staff was very inviting which helped boost the mood of the place. Ellie was noticeably upbeat at the register which made my day and Tiffany had a loud and clear voice when serving the ice cream and prepping the toppings, which was much appreciated during the busy hour. I personally ordered the Ube and Pistachio with an upside down ahboong with red bean filling and the ice cream was fresh along with the ahboong. They both tasted amazing, especially in the summer heat. The Ube and Pistachio had a slightly nutty taste with a soft, creamy, and not too harsh of an Ube flavor. Along with my order came an extra ahboong with random filling for the Grand Opening, and I got an oreo as my filling! The extra ahboong was soft and fluffy, while the upside down ahboong was crunchy, adding a fun and tasty contrast in my little dessert after I had my lunch. I'd like add that the interior does seem to lack air conditioning, which can be a bit problematic for both customers and staff during busy hours, but overall the atmosphere was nice, the staff was great, and the food was fantastic. My kids were excited for a closer location, not that Fullerton is far. Saturday afternoon the air was not circulating and ice cream seemed melted by the time it was handed out. Also, 6-7 employees behind the counter, with 2 just standing around. My son had to ask for them to add more fruity pebbles topping, as you can see in the photo, it's still not alot. Fullerton location is still better and worth the drive until this location works out the kinks and employees have more training. I say more training because they could not answer questions and looked confused when we asked them to add the topping all around.
