Loveeee somi somi. Always consistent and tasty. Got the upside down fish with taro and milk ice cream. Only two tables outside to sit down in but there is counter space you could eat at if it's not busy.
Had no idea that they opened a Somisomi in Brea but if you haven't tried one before you need to! This place is a small store with unique dessert items. I love their little fish waffles which you can pick a flavor to put inside. My favorite is actually the cheddar for a more savory style. But they do have other options like custard, Oreo, red bean, and many others. If you are into something cold try their soft serve this is also tasty! Plenty of flavors to pick from! I love the ube and matcha! They also have different flavors that are limited-time too! So if you are in the area this is a cool spot to get some dessert for sure!
I'm so happy there's finally a SomiSomi in Brea! There are two tables outside, plus plenty of benches around Downtown Brea if you want to sit and enjoy your dessert. The shop is really clean, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. They have a cute little receipt photo booth near the front and some pins for sale. SomiSomi rotates its swirl flavors every week, so there's always something new to try. You can customize your order by choosing what you want your ice cream served in and picking from a variety of toppings. The ice cream is always fresh and delicious.
Finally an ice cream place at Brea Downtown! This place won't disappoint you. Do not compare it with gelato because it is not, more a soft ice cream but worth it! Delicious and unique on its own that for sure! I tried it more than once and the ice cream is high quality and rich taste, service is friendly and on point. There is not sitting inside as expected for an ice cream place ( If there is sittings inside it is no good ice cream) although they added some sittings outside( nice) the decor is nice and pleasant to the eyes very well decorated. Please try the fish with the filling.... DELICIOUS! It is fresh cone!
Finally got to try this place out. Fairly new location opened in DT Brea not long ago. Inside it's pretty spacious, but note there are zero chairs, only counters which are fairly high up, not very short people (like myself) friendly. Maybe some lower counters or regular tables would be nice, even if placed outside. Staff was friendly, but they don't do samples, so if you're unsure what to order, stick to the more popular flavors. I went with Ube because Ube is life, and it was good. The waffle cone itself is whatever, not much flavor, and I'd definitely skip it next time. My kid got the cookies and cream and he didn't finish it, didn't care much for it. He did not like the cone at all. Not sure I'd return here any time soon, maybe if I'm really craving something Ube flavored.
I'm so glad that this location opened because not only is it closer to me than others, they still have the same yummy taste and wonderful service that I love! If you've never been here, I recommend getting an upside down ahboong in a cup, because then you basically get the best of both worlds with having ice cream and a fish tayaki! Since it recently opened, the lines have been somewhat long when I've gone, but they do a good job in providing quick service. Just know that they don't have any seating at all, but they do have limited tall tables.
Love this location! It just opened recently and it's a cute spot near downtown brea. We were able to get the new pistachio flavor mixed with cookies n cream and it was so delicious! The staff was also super nice even though it was a little busy! Definitely appreciate that. Hopefully this location doesn't blow up like the Fullerton location but maybe having 2 locations close-ish to each other will level out the business!
Delicious!! The Banana milk with strawberry with coconut topping was my favorite! I had Nutella inside the fish waffle and would probably get only banana milk next time. My husband got the cookies and cream and mil flavor with biscoff topping which he loved. We both loved our dessert!! It was smooth texture, creamy without being icy. It was SO good! Definitely our new favorite spot! Service was great as well!
Review 68/365 Day Challenge Was excited to hear when Somi Somi was coming to my neighboring city, Brea. Came here on the 1st evening of Grand Opening around 8 pm. It was about a 40min wait all together. If you're familiar w Somi Somi. It's a known waffle fish made freshly and filled to your liking FILLING Options. You pick the style of soft serve flavor and style. Then they add the toppings and either a macaron or a small fresh strawberry topped. Ice cream was delish and not sweet. ~ Taiyaki is made fresh w the yummy filling of choice. They have a Grand opening weekend Special. Free Taiyaki (randomly filled) w a Ahboog purchase. Valid til Sunday 6.12.-15.26 The ice cream dessert shop is decent size. No indoor seating currently available i do see stairs going upstairs. Not sure it's gonna be open for guest seating. Customer service is great for being it Grand Opening day. Handled the crowd and lines pretty well. We got our dessert in a timely matter. Located in Downtown Brea right next to Pinotte Palette Painting studio and a few doors away from Cha Cha Mexican restaurant. Lots of parking in the parking structure,

Grand Opening weekend! Parking is in front of World Market then walk to the back toward the theater. Spend $15 in one single transaction for chance to win something on the flyer. They give an extra waffle for soft serve order. Super friendly staff and really fast service! Soft serve is creamy and milky! Toasty waffles (fishy shape) were warm and just right on the sweetness. It smells so good! They even have wooden bars to stand and eat your waffles and soft serve! Everything looks so organized and pretty.
Another wonderful somi somi location! Actually this might be my favorite one because not only is the food as tasty as you'd expect, but this specific location had possibly the best service I ever received. They were packed, almost closing and yet all staff members were kind, energetic, and had good vibes all around. I also like how this place had a free mini photo opportunity. Love somisomi!
We attended the friends and family soft opening. It's a cute shop in bustling downtown Brea off Birch St across from the theater and comedy club with lots of foot traffic. There was already a line forming outside with curious pedestrians. Friendly staff is ready to greet and serve you with a smile. They make their taiyaki fish cakes fresh in house which serves as a cone stuffed with your choice of fillings and soft serve ice cream, and toppings. The taiyaki comes out nice and warm, slightly crispy with a soft mochi inside texture. Friday 6/12 is grand opening so there are specials and giveaways. Go check it out!

Happy to have a location so close to home! Came late afternoon on the Friday of Labor Day weekend and there was no one inside so we were helped right away. I got the milk soft serve in a cup ($4.50) while my fiancé got the milk & strawberry soft serve in a cup ($4.50). We also got the 2-pc taiyaki with Oreo filling ($4.95) to share. They offered us a complimentary strawberry or macaron as a topper and we both chose macaron. Their soft serve is honestly the best. It's so creamy and milky but still light and not too sweet. The milk & strawberry flavor was a weekly flavor so I'm not sure if it'll always be there but it was so good. I think toppings (oreo, graham cracker, etc.) are also free? The taiyaki was so perfectly crispy and chewy and the Oreo filling had just enough sweetness. They make them to order so they're still warm when you get them. The employees were super nice and it's so clean and well air conditioned inside. There's also plenty of parking in the structure across the street. Will definitely be coming back! read more
The best frozen dessert in town! I can't believe it took us this long to try it. My kids absolutely loved it! Everything tasted so fresh and delicious, and I love that they let you add extra toppings at no additional cost. The only downside is that they don't have seats available inside. Definitely worth trying, and I highly recommend stopping by and giving it a taste! read more

First time coming here, and I really enjoyed it! The place was clean, and the staff was super helpful and patient when explaining how to get your soft serve. Of course, I had to get mine upside down! And the best part... the toppings are unlimited! I'll definitely be coming back! read more

Clean and cool shop. They have a black and white instant photo camera which is fun, and free self serve water. The staff are nice and patient. The ube with cookies and cream swirl was so good. The macaron was a nice touch but the taiyaki wasn't as filled with custard as I was expecting. Would return to try more flavors! read more
Cute little soft serve shop right in the heart of downtown Brea. The line was almost to the door but moves fast. There are various flavors for soft serve, you can also get half and half option. This is a good spot for summer night hangouts and sweet treats! read more

I was eating at chubby sushi across the street when 3 of my friends wanted to go get somisomi. When we walked into Somisomi at first we had no issues, but when i looked up at the menu, I couldn't believe my eyes. so happy to see this open in Brea!! such an ideal location with lots of traffic. staff was very sweet and welcoming! also, restroom was uber clean and had a nice aromatic fragrance plugged in. everything is delicious as always. highly recommend the ube soft serve. i always get the upside down taiyaki in a cup, with nutella as my filling. hits EVERY time!! husband got the matcha strawberry milk and enjoyed it as well. definitely recommend a sweet treat here after catching a movie!!! read more

I was invited to the Friends & Family night at the new SomiSomi in Brea and had a great experience. I tried the limited-time boysenberry and milk swirl with an upside-down ahboong, plus a few taiyaki with black sesame and custard fillings. Everything came out fresh, warm, and delicious. The service was excellent as well--everyone was friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout the visit. The location is fantastic too, right across from the movie theater in Downtown Brea, making it a perfect spot to grab a sweet treat before or after a movie. With summer right around the corner, it's the perfect place to cool off with a refreshing soft-serve treat on a warm day. Overall, it was a great first visit, and I'll definitely be back to try more menu items, especially the strawberry milk and cold brew float. read more

First time visiting the Somisomi in Downtown Brea and I was not disappointed! Pushing open the door and walking into a cool, refreshing environment (saving me from the 80+ degree weather outside), I was instantly greeted by welcomes of the always-smiling employees. Though I was familiar with the menu from previous Somisomi restaurant experiences, the cashier navigated me expertly and my order was quickly places without any difficulty. Service was very quick and while receiving my toppings, the employees ensured my satisfaction and took the time to make the Taiyaki presentable (as seen in attached picture). Overall, an amazing first impression from the new location of Somisomi. I read a few complaints regarding the temperature inside but I didn't face such conditions and they have fixed that issue! The only glaring hitch would be that it was a little unclear in where the line begins once you enter the shop. I would recommend visiting during the hot summer to cool off and is a great location for a satisfactory dessert! read more

This location had a great atmosphere! The interior was very clean and the service station was organized very nicely! The staff was very inviting which helped boost the mood of the place. Ellie was noticeably upbeat at the register which made my day and Tiffany had a loud and clear voice when serving the ice cream and prepping the toppings, which was much appreciated during the busy hour. I personally ordered the Ube and Pistachio with an upside down ahboong with red bean filling and the ice cream was fresh along with the ahboong. They both tasted amazing, especially in the summer heat. The Ube and Pistachio had a slightly nutty taste with a soft, creamy, and not too harsh of an Ube flavor. Along with my order came an extra ahboong with random filling for the Grand Opening, and I got an oreo as my filling! The extra ahboong was soft and fluffy, while the upside down ahboong was crunchy, adding a fun and tasty contrast in my little dessert after I had my lunch. I'd like add that the interior does seem to lack air conditioning, which can be a bit problematic for both customers and staff during busy hours, but overall the atmosphere was nice, the staff was great, and the food was fantastic. I came here during their first week of opening just for the Boysenberry and it did not disappoint. It was worth my 30 minutes wait time. I don't know how to describe the taste... It doesn't taste exactly like the sour berry I expect, it is sweet and refreshing. It goes well with the ube too, but the sweetness of ube got overwhelming near the end. read more

Super excited to have Somisomi in Brea! Been here twice so far and each time my family and I always greeted. Staff is friendly and we don't wait long for our order. Love the Ube & boysenberry flavors. Also the taiyaki are delicious, pretty much had them all so far we had the cheddar, black sesame, Matcha, custard, just custard, red bean, and Nutella, of course! read more

My kids were excited for a closer location, not that Fullerton is far. Saturday afternoon the air was not circulating and ice cream seemed melted by the time it was handed out. Also, 6-7 employees behind the counter, with 2 just standing around. My son had to ask for them to add more fruity pebbles topping, as you can see in the photo, it's still not alot. Fullerton location is still better and worth the drive until this location works out the kinks and employees have more training. I say more training because they could not answer questions and looked confused when we asked them to add the topping all around. What kind of ice cream place only puts toppings on 1/4 of the side? read more

After lunch today my friend and I stopped by for some dessert at the new Somi Somi in Brea. I throughly enjoyed cookies n cream & pistachio soft serve ice cream. It was topped off with the fish cone filled with custard. The soft serve ice cream was very, very good and creamy. We took home three of the tiayakis. One each of the Oreo, custard, and cheese fillings, all of which were very delicious. The staff was great and friendly. If you haven't been here yet, you need to check it out. You won't be disappointed. read more

We are so happy that there is a Somi Somi close by. The store is newly open and all the staff are friendly and amazing. So many delicious soft serves, taiyakis, and drinks to pick from. Prices are awesome too, not the typical high OC price tag. read more
