Not to just mention the great taste, but this place is the best Covid-19 complied shop! The owner/manager controls how many people and groups are getting in at the entrance. All the employees wearing masks and gloves. There are 6ft social distance on the floor starting 24 ft away from the entrance and all over in the store to guide you. There is a sanitizer at the cashier station which has the plastic board to prevent any contact. If you asl for a receipt, they put it on a tray to make contactless. Really great experience! SomiSomi felt very clean and well managed, something I find very relaxing during Covid. I'd been wanting to try the fish cone ice creams for awhile now and was absolutely not disappointed with SomiSomi's version! I got the upside down, no handheld cones right now because of Covid. For my upside down I got Oreo soft serve, custard filling, topped with a dusting of Oreo powder and toasted coconut flakes, it was truly yum! Will definitely be coming back and hope that they have a lot of success! Next time I think I'd opt to get a full fishy and then split a soft serve with my boyfriend, just cause we both loved the tail so much and wished there was more of it, though their ice cream was incredibly smooth and creamy! First time coming here after a friend recommended we get dessert. I got the pecan praline flavor with Nutella filling and she got the ube flavor with red bean filling. I loved that they have lactose free options, plus toppings offered at the end (graham cracker crumbs, Oreo crumbs, fruity pebbles, etc). Their service is really quick and efficient. The only downside is that there is no indoor seating (not sure if this is currently due to COVID) but they do allow customers to eat inside while standing. I was craving dessert to fill the emptiness of my heart on a weekend night and this place was nearby so decided to check this place out. I ordered two taikyaki's which came to be a little over $4 - one with nutella and one with custard. When I took the first bite of the taiyaki, there were mini fireworks going off in my head because I don't expect it to be so crispy on the outside so I was very pleasantly surprised. As it was crispy on the outside, it was glutinous and chewy on the inside which is just *chef's kisses. I kind of wish the custard one was a bit sweeter because I couldn't really taste it with the surrounding waffle/cake. But the nutella one was amazing. The combination of the rich taste of chocolatey nutella with the glutinous and crispy waffle is beautiful and I definitely recommend that you try it fresh. After first trying SomiSomi in San Diego, I was SUPER excited to see one open closer by my home around Fullerton! I was surprised that they have more ice cream flavor options here, which was definitely a plus. Now my family and I go frequently for this place and another place I recommend called R&B Tea. Reading the reviews, I didn't have an issue with the temperature of the place... if I remember correctly I felt pretty cold in there, both daytime and night. I don't know what's up with the three or less star reviews on that... Also, imo, the $6-7 price on the taiyaki soft serve is worth it to me because they provide the unique ice cream flavors, the waffle, and the filling, which is something I can't experience altogether anywhere else as far as I know. Its price is probably for the best anyways, otherwise I and others would be coming here on a daily basis without restraint I rank this place the best ice cream I've ever had, and I've had La Michoacana, McDonald's soft serve, Disneyland soft serve, Legoland soft serve, Baskin Robins, Yogurtland, Menchies, Cauldron, and some hole-in-the-wall ice cream places (including the nitrogen ones) that could have convinced me otherwise, but didn't. Yay a SomiSomi closer to me! I tried the Ahboong with milk and Oreo swirl ice cream and the fish shaped cone was filled with Nutella. Everything tasted great! They filled the cone part with so much Nutella so I was not complaining. The ice cream is light and not overly sweet. We also got the 6-pack of taiyaki with Nutella and custard fillings and they were amazing! Warm, crispy, sweet!
