Wasn't super impressed with it but it tasted good. I was craving matcha but I also wanted to order something unique so I got the matcha-horchata swirl. I liked it but horchata definitely overpowered the matcha. The place is clean, very small, with no seating. I believe the cost was $4.80 which is fair.

My kid loved it! It was pretty cool presentation too & the ice cream is AMAZING! I'm lactose intolerant, so I just had a bite but in my kid days, I would've eaten a ton of this! I do wish they had a lactose free option - but you can still get the fish and have it stuffed with Nutella LOL. They had several flavors & a few rotational. The Tayaki fish taste like pancake kind of. We chose ours on top of the soft serve ice cream, but they will also make it where the fish acts like a cone. And you get to watch the entire process which was pretty cool. Decent price! Again, if I could eat this.... I would def go back often!

I'm a big fan of SomiSomi in Carrollton, so I was super excited to try the Katy location. My friend and I split an Ah-Boong (soft serve in a cup with a fish-shaped taiyaki on top). We got the matcha and cookies & cream swirl, which is one of my favorite combos. It was pretty busy when we went (Saturday afternoon), and there was a mix-up with our order - they accidentally gave us only cookies & cream and put fruity pebbles on top even though we didn't ask for them. We let the staff know and they were quick to fix it. Once we got the correct swirl with Oreos and matcha powder topping, it was perfect. The ice cream was smooth and flavorful, and the contrast of the warm, crispy taiyaki with the cold soft serve is just unbeatable. Despite the initial mistake, everything turned out great and I'd definitely come back! One thing to note: this location doesn't really have any seating. There are a few narrow standing counters that maybe fit ten people total, so it can get crowded inside pretty fast. It was too hot outside for us to sit and risk our ice cream melting, so just a heads up if you're planning to stay and eat there.

The soft serve here is always perfect! It's a simple a concept with just the right amount of choices for how you want your soft serve, the sauces and toppings. The people are always accommodating and helpful. If you would like to eat inside, they have tables for you to enjoy your soft serve standing, or you can sit on one of the many benches outside along the plaza. Our go-to is always Ube, and this flavor never disappoints. My husband had the Cold Brew Float and he was happy -- it's fueling him as we drive home to San Antonio right now. Somisomi is a must-visit when we're in Houston!

WOW! Can I give 6/5 stars!? This was my first time visiting Somisomi and I will be craving this from IL! This shop offers soft serve as well as "taiyaki" which has a waffle like outside, mochi like inside, and can be filled with flavors. Mouth watering yet? I ordered the Upside Down Ahboong with the matcha and ube soft serve swirled, with a smaller taiyaki filled with custard put on it. They also have optional sprinkle topping (i chose graham cracker) and a garnish (i chose macaroon cookie). The final product had the cutest look and I can vouch that it tasted even better! I also tried the horchata and Milk & Thai Tea soft serve but liked mine the most. They will rotate what flavors are swirled to keep things interesting. Either way, visit as you won't be disappointed!

Had a strong craving for something Ube flavored so I decided to pop in and get a sweet treat! It was very busy because I came on the weekend but the service was still very fast! Very very yummy and staple establishment in the Asian center of katy!

We visited on a busy Saturday night, but despite the crowd, the line moved surprisingly fast. I ordered the upside-down soft serve with matcha and milk soft serve with a Nutella filling. Unfortunately, they got the filling wrong and gave me matcha custard instead--but honestly, I didn't even mind because it was still delicious! The texture was incredibly soft and velvety, and the service was quick. Even with the mix-up, I left happy and would definitely come back to try more flavors!

While the wait was long, it was well worth it! The ice cream was delicious and the fish waffle was amazing!!

I could eat soft serve all day long. We stopped by for a treat and boy was it a treat! We chose the upside down ahboong which is a cup filled with soft serve and a taiyaki fish on top. I went with cookies and cream soft serve and taiyaki with black sesame filling. I almost chose the custard filling but was concerned it might be too sweet. The gentleman behind the counter suggested black sesame instead and it was a great recommendation. The soft serve was smooth and not too sweet. The taiyaki was super crispy and the inside black sesame paired very well. Yum!

Stopped by after lunch for a quick snack and was pleasantly surprised. Despite the crowd ( considering it is Father's Day) the service was impressively fast. We received our order in under five minutes. We tried the matcha and milk swirl upside down ahboong style. The taiyaki on top was crispy and fresh. The icecream had a perfect balance of matcha and milk without being overly too sweet. We also had custard and red bean taiyaki. Both were made fresh and had the perfect crisp and chewy texture. They also had a good amount of filling. So satisfying. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

This is by far my FAVORITE place to get soft serve! I love the texture of the soft serve :) it's nice and creamy and as for the taste- its what I like to call the perfect amount of sweet! We also tried the Taiyaki. we had ours filled with Nutella but there are different options such as Red bean, Taro, Custard etc.. and it was so gooood! it's such a wonderful place I highly recommend!! read more

Pretty good. The taiyakai itself was a little under cook. The filling wasn't bad. I give it a 4 star bc so far is the only place in Houston/Katy to get it. It's worth going to and the pricing is pretty fair. read more

I am obsessed with the taiyaki from here!!! No other place comes close to matching the taste of the batter here. I love both the mango ice cream & taiyaki cone and the hot ones with custard filling. The ice cream is so soft and smooth and not overly sweet. I absolutely love the batter they used to make their taiyaki, it's very light, not overly sweet and chewy. Very fragrant as well you can smell the beer? They make it fresh when you order so there is a 5 mins wait time but they make it quick. Weekends are packed. I wish I live nearby they'll probably see me nonstop. read more

The ice cream is very good! We love the creative waffle design and the kindness of the store employees. Only complaint I have is that they say the flavors rotate but I don't really see much of a change ever. The Katy location never has chocolate while the Sugar Land store does serve chocolate. I would figure that chocolate would be at the top of most ice cream store lists. The cookies and cream though is very good and always available. read more

We were so excited for SomiSomi to open up in Katy! Got around to stop by and it definitely didn't disappoint. They let you choose unlimited toppings which is great. If you're a sucker for boba like me I highly recommend their Milk Tea flavored ice cream. I was head over heels! If you get the 'fish' cone I suggest getting it upside down because the cone is baked so it can cause the ice cream to melt quickly if you aren't quick enough. read more

As SOON AS MY hands were free of eating this icecream I had to write this review because HOLY DANN IT IS SO GOOOOOOOOOD!! You must try it, i swear you won't regret it unless you're lactose. But still then you'd go back. I bet you. Their waffles are so crispy on the outside and warm chewy with your filling on the inside, just fucking fantastic...nutella is already heavenly but i was speechless on this! Just enough to taste it but still enjoy the icecream. The toppings, especially the pebbles, are so good cold!! Who would've ever known but the crisp in them!! Just go. read more

I was thrilled to find out that SomiSomi will be opening in Houston. As soon as I found that that they were opened, I got it check it out. This is a Korean dessert place that sells soft serve and Taiyaki (waffle that is shaped like a fish). You get the option to get soft serve, Taiyaki, or Taiyaki with soft serve called Ah-Boong. Of course, I have to go all out for dessert. My boyfriend and I each ordered the Ah-Boong. I got the ube and black sesame soft serve with custard filling with graham cracker and strawberry topping. While my boyfriend got the milk tea soft serve with red bean filling with fruity pebble and macaron topping. I tried his, and the milk tea soft serve tastes like vanilla and not so much milk tea. There wasn't any seating available so you will just stand. After 5 minutes into eating, I was making a huge mess with the soft serve starting to melt everywhere. Tip: you will definitely need the napkin if you order this. I was rushed to finish it when I truly like to take my time to enjoy the dessert. Also, there is only one restroom. Despite this experience, I would like to come back and give them a chance after they are open for a bit or when I am craving this. read more

Somisomi finally opened in Houston! I tried a year ago when I went to L.A and man to me their soft is is amazing! I had the black sesame over there and damn I couldn't get enough of it! About a week ago I heard somisomi was coming to Katy and was super excited! Again I had the black sesame to see if it tasted the same and it did! My gf also had another soft serve which it was the Oreo one and her first tasted amazed her as well! I tried the Oreo too and it was actually pretty good! The thing about somisomi soft serve is that it isn't as sweet...like it's just perfect. Other competitors like sul bing su is way to sweet to me. Mostly every soft serve I had in Houston is to sweet for me. Here at somisomi it's just perfect. I definitely will be back to try the milk flavor. Oh yea I also had the fish will custard filling so amazing! 5/5 stars for somisomi! I definitely recommend coming here for soft serve! Also keep in mind that this location is still new staff is still learning so bare with them! I'm sure in the future things will run more smooth! read more

Great taiyaki but I wasn't a fan of the soft serve. All the flavors tasted the same. The ube, oreo, matcha, and sesame all seemed like the same plain soft serve base, just dyed different colors. If you blindfolded me and gave me the ube vs. matcha, I don't think I could pick out the difference in statistically significant test. The taiyaki was delicious though. Crisp, chewy, and soft, with your choice of sweet filling inside, and pretty much my ideal taiyaki. I still prefer Sul Bing Su's taiyaki by a little bit but both are excellent. Would come back to SomiSomi for just their taiyaki! read more

The ice cream is good but I do wish they had more flavor options! The one I got was filled with Nutella, and though delicious, it was most certainly a LOT of Nutella. The bread part is yummy but it's hard to eat with the ice cream so it's more of a separate item to eat on the side. Overall, it was pretty good and I wanted to try it because it looked cool, and that urge has now been satisfied. read more

i love the fish on the ice cream- especially the concept. however, the ice cream was a little too big to finish. I would love if they had more sizes, like small or large. i also didnt find many good flavors. they had around 6, which apparently change every week, but the flavors were a bit bland. I got cookies and cream and taro, I got a hint of chocolate but I mostly just tasted vanilla, but the taro was nice, just needed a stronger flavor. i liked how you could get toppings though, but they definitely needed more seating inside the store. I was eating my ice cream in 50 degree weather, it wasn't particularly enjoyable. the fish was very tasty though, it was warm and the filling was delicious. read more

The serving size of noodles were perfect, and maybe a little bit more than I wanted since I couldn't finish the whole bowl. The jiajiangmein looked equally as delicious - my friend said there was a lot of onion in the sauce. The array of banchan consisted of kimchi, marinated bean sprouts, cold kimchi pancake, and marinated spicy cucumber. Yummy banchan as well. Tasty Ko is a great spot if you're not wanting to drive all the way to the Spring Branch area for Korean food, and not wanting to spend an arm and a leg at Katy Asian Town.
