We didn't like the matcha custard flavor. Rest all were good. Ice cream was good, fish pancakes were nicely done.

Very quick service and the soft serve is nice, with some of my favorites being the black sesame or the cream. The taiyaki is also good with my favorites being the custard and red bean.

Good presentation and cute fish. If you like the Japanese Taiyaki, then this is the place for you. For me, I'm only interested in their sesame ice cream. After debating if I should just get the sesame ice cream or a milk and sesame swirl, I made the wrong choice and greed drove me to get the swirl. I was disappointed as the swirl was more milky and sweet than the rich sesame I was hoping for. Nevertheless, Somi Somi is a kid pleaser and my child was pleasantly happy with her Taiyaki ice cream.

One of my favorite places to go when I'm craving some good ice cream. The taiyaki with Nutella is a must!

All time favorite dessert place! Crispy taiyaki upside down with cherry blossom and matcha ice cream. It was quick and fast service. Overall clean and spacious venue.

This ice cream here was pretty good. Smooth and nice flavor combos. I got the Ube matcha swirl and the banana matcha swirls. There were so many toppings to choose from. The taiyaki was fresh so the warm bread with the melted ice cream was perfect together. I got my order with a few minutes because there weren't many people and the workers there stated making our order as soon as the order went through. Inside was spacious, I wished there were tables but there weren't many people working so I can see why it's more of a takeout.

This spot was really good. I got the matcha and ube swirl and I loved it. It was just the right amount of sweetness without being too heavy. The taiyaki was great too. It was soft on the inside with a little crisp on the outside, which made it perfect. The place was really busy when we went, but the service was quick and we got our ice cream fast. The location is really convenient, though parking can be tough since it's such a popular spot.

This is our second time at Somi Somi at this location and we love it! The service is fast and the people are attentive and kind. The flavors are always delicious and the topping choices are fun. I took some pictures of the menu because I wanted to make sure everyone knew they had to choose one of four options for how you want to be served. I was confused the first time I came as the menu was different. We got the ube and chocolate swirl with the upside down ahboong filled with red bean. The cookies and cream is also delicious with the Nutella filling. Once they have poured your soft serve, they will call you up to the counter to tell them which toppings you want. There are cocoa pebbles, fruity pebbles, Oreo dust, butterfinger dust, etc. you can also choose to have a macaroon or a strawberry as a topper. The store is clean and tidy, there's also a water container for self serve water. They also have napkins and trash cans. There aren't any tables inside for seating, but there is a bench outside. The parking lot for this strip mall is a nightmare. This is the only pitfall of this location. You'll have to bring all of your patience to get a spot. Plan ahead by parking on the street or Lyftng there.

Soft serve with interesting flavors in rotation can be found here at Somisomi, a popular chain that's made a strong impression on me every time I've been to one. This particular Somisomi is located in an extremely busy mall full of Asian eateries, cafes and shops and therefore parking is a real pain. If you're already here for something else, it's a perfect excuse to make your way to grab a cup or cone of Somisomi's delicious cold desserts. Like all of their locations, the soft serve can be ordered with a cup or a waffle cone shaped like a fish. Within that cone, you'll have the option to fill it up with some toppings like red bean or Nutella. After the soft serve goes in, you'll finally be able to top it off with some additional dry, crunchy toppings like sprinkles. Of course, if you're just here for the soft serve, then just get the cup but if you want it all without the mess that comes with cones, ask for the upside down cone served in a cup - you get to have your cake (errr...soft serve) and eat it too! This time around, sweet corn was the unique flavor of the day and the subtle sweetness was certainly interesting! Not a huge fan as I'm more inclined to order their tea flavors but it was still delicious enough to be consumed all by oneself. In addition to the soft serve, they also have taiyaki (waffle battered cakes) filled with your goodies of choice among some classics like red bean, Nutella, chocolate, and custard. They take a while to make but you may order more for a slight discount as opposed to ordering them individually. The staff were friendly and patient as we ran through the options when we ordered and were quick as they can to fulfill the tickets. Overall, Somisomi has the perfect combination of desserts to satisfy cravings for both hot and cold treats. They're not too overly sweet and are pretty light so it's a great spot to hit up after a meal. This shopping center facilitates those activities nicely with restaurants running all along the perimeter and a huge grocery store for wrapping up those errands. As a taiyaki fan, this Somisomi is solid and the quality store to store doesn't vary too much so regardless of the location, you'll be satisfied here, there, and everywhere, so long as it's with Somisomi!

Saturday night line out the door - 8/2025
    Melanie L.

After you've indulged in one of the restaurants in this plaza and you need to find something sweet or cleanse your pallet, head over to Somi Somi for your dessert fix! Somi Somi has several different menu options for everyone - soft serve, taiyaki, cold brews, or a combo of all of these. Their menu isn't overwhelming either, they keep it simple and clean. They offer the following soft serve flavors and some come in a swirl flavor: - Milk - Matcha - Ube - Peach - Cookies & Cream - Milk Tea (Not available at this location, but found at the Livermore Outlets location) Keep in mind they do not offer any samples so choose wisely! Once you pick your flavor, the staff will build your order and you can pick complimentary toppings for it: - Biscoff Crumble - Cocoa Pebbles - Fruity Pebbles - Coconut Flakes - Oreo Crumbs - Captain Crunch - Graham Cracker What you'll also notice from this business is that there tends to be a line out the door on the weekends, which just means you can't go wrong with this place! The wait isn't long either. There are no seats inside, just standing room to pick up your order, but there are a few benches outside and you'll see plenty of people just chilling out front enjoying their treat.

Upside down ahboong, cookies and cream soft serve, Nutella filling, with a macaron - DELICIOUS
    John I.

De. Licious. The soft serve is sweet and creamy, the taiyaki is warm and fresh... what else could you ask for? Somisomi is the ultimate treat for a summer day, and this location does not disappoint! We went in at around 7:30 on a weekday and there was no one else there. The interior is sparkling clean, and the service is very helpful and friendly! I ordered the upside down ahboong with cookies and cream soft serve, Nutella filling, a macaron, and Oreo crumbles - and yes, it was as heavenly as it sounds. There's nothing I would have changed about it. The price is fair, the portion size is solid, and service is quick. The one downside is that there's not any seating inside, so this is clearly a grab-and-go dessert place. Luckily there's plenty of seating in the plaza outside, so that wasn't much of an issue for us. If you have a sweet tooth and are in the area, this Somisomi is a delicious option!

Upside down Ahboong soft serve with custard filling and milk and ube softserve
    Arjoyita R.

Tried out Somi Somi on a Tuesday night and it was crowded for a weekday. We got the milk and Ube softserve with custard filling in the Ahboong. The Ube flavor blended quite well with the Milk and the texture was creamy. I couldn't taste the custard filling in the Ahboong though. Their service is good but the servers are quite overwhelmed with the volume of orders maybe. I asked for the cocoa pebbles as the topping but the server gave me the graham cracker topping by mistake. He was kind and sweet to change it but it might have led to wasting a whole ice cream. I also asked for the Ahboong with soft serve inside but I got the upside down Agboong. I didn't want to bring that up to the server because I didn't want to waste another ice cream and overwhelm them anymore. Would definitely come back for the other flavors.

Taiyaki (Red Bean and Black Sesame)
    Minh V.

Taiyaki is what I order here. They have ice cream flavors here. Favorites are Black Sesame and Red Bean filling for the Taiyaki. Bench sitting area outside. Outside has benches on both side of entrance. This location gets pretty busy. Service is ok. Order on front and has toppings for ice cream. Can mix Taiyaki with ice cream. Soft serve is what they call it.

Upside ube flavor. Vanilla in a cup.

So happy there is an even closer Somisomi on the East Bay now. Just like the other locations, the cheddar taiyaki is my favorite and go-to.

The banchan variety is actually really good, which is a highlight for me, though the kimchi isn't my favorite. My personal go-tos are the Korean jelly (muk muchim), broccoli, tomato, and macaroni salad. I'd honestly come back just for the banchan spread. That said, for the price, the main dishes are just okay. One big plus: they serve purple rice, which I always appreciate. Service has been very hit or miss. Sometimes they're friendly and accommodating, but my last visit really threw me off. We asked for a refill on the muk muchim, and our server said they were "sold out"... but then the table next to us was immediately served it. I'd honestly rather they just say no than give an excuse like that.. it left a bad impression and made the experience feel off. A few thoughts on the dishes: * Budae Jjigae - A bit bland for my taste, heavy on kimchi and light on meats like spam, sausage, and bacon. * Galbitang - Light yet flavorful, with 3 large rib bones that had a good amount of meat. Comes with glass noodles, rice cakes, and thin egg strips * Japchae - Not complimentary here (you have to order it), but it's actually pretty good. * Seafood tofu soup - Just okay, nothing too memorable. * Galbi - Flavorful and reliable--can't go wrong, especially with purple rice. * Mul Naengmyeon - Refreshing and well done. * Seafood pancake - Crispy, not overly oily, and packed with seafood and green onions. * Bibimbap - Loved the crispy rice at the bottom, though the beef portion was a bit small. * Yukgaejang - Decent, but not as rich or flavorful as other spots. Overall, I'd say this place shines most in its banchan variety and comfortable dining space, but the inconsistency in both food and service makes it a bit harder to fully recommend

Have to say the soup base was just average and not as rich and flavorful as you usually find in a mushroom or tofu pot in a good korean restaurant. They gave very generous portion of banchan refills too! Not sure if I'll be back and if I do , you can bet it's to get my fixes for their kimchi. :)

Inside was a long room with tables down the walls and down the middle of the place. We were seated right away even though our name was 4 down on the waitlist. There is a QR code, but our server still brought by the paper menu. Before he left our table, we asked for water for the table. So we browsed then waited for almost 10 min before anyone came back to take our order. Still no water, but our order went in. Our banchan came out then the first ordered bibimbap dish within 5-7 min. Still no water for the table at this point, so we flagged someone carrying pitchers around to help us. Finally after some time after ordering we got our water. After the water, we got our next two dishes, the grilled beef ribs and dumpling soft tofu. The grilled beef ribs were good but really sweet. Definitely need the purple rice to eat with it. The tofu soup came out hot but not boiling. And I still tried to cook my raw egg in the broth. The egg eventually did cook enough to eat. It wasn't that busy inside the restaurant so I did not get why it took a while to get a basic thing like water and our order in. This place is dependable if you want tofu soup, but it's a game of chase down the servers.

They put a lot of effort into making the banchan - which I recognize right away. They also fill up if you run out and the dishes are larger than normal restaurants. Amazing. You read my mind. Interior 4/5: It is a smaller, more intimate seating.( about 25-30 people) . It still has the vibes of of a Korean eatery with K-pop music playing on the TV screen, wooden benches and chairs. We waited until 5:20 and they still weren't serving, so we ended up leaving. Our most recent visit was the last straw. They only offered two types of banchan (not even kimchi), and they were out of all dishes that included meat or beef. It was surprising for a Korean restaurant to not have Korean BBQ or short ribs available. My seafood tofu soup barely had any seafood, and I had to point out to the waiter that there was no shrimp at all. He later returned with a cheap frozen seafood mix and said they use a seafood mix, which was disappointing considering the higher quality seafood they used to serve (including head-on shrimp). They also did not serve the usual purple rice this time -- instead we were given dry white rice that seemed reheated. There was only one server handling all the tables and cleaning, so service was slow. It's disappointing because the quality used to be much better.
