    Stonepot rice

My friend and I were looking for a new restaurant to try and we stumbled upon Jeonju. It had good reviews, the food looked appetizing and it was in an area that we frequented, so why not. Parking here can get chaotic - there is a huge 99 Ranch Market in the plaza and tons of retail/restaurants all around. Some spaces are very tight, so be careful when parking. There's also these chargers that don't seem to ever be in use and take up some space. No clue whether they work or not as I've never seen anyone using them. After finding some parking (took us a while to circle around), we walked over to Jeonju. Once inside, we were informed that it would take up to 30 minutes as there was only 1 chef working at the moment and 1 server. We weren't in a hurry, so we decided to sit down and wait. The wait wasn't actually that bad, but it did take a while for everything to come out. Ordering was done through a QR code at the table and the server brought us the side dishes once we sent in our order. Our food came out in about 20 minutes. The side dishes had more of a Chinese flavor profile than Korean, but wasn't bad. I especially liked the peanuts, but the kimchi was too vinegary for me. I ordered a dolsot bibimpap while my friend had a tofu soup. I thought my rice was too salty and she agreed about her soup. I liked how crispy the rice got, though. We also ordered a seafood pancake that seemed like it needed more time to cook fully. Overall - maybe they were having an off day since there was a lack of workers. Maybe the experience would have been better if Jeonju was fully staffed that day, but the flavors weren't quite what I would expect from a Korean restaurant. Will probably not try it again.

4 sides of banchan for take out order

I was madly craving Bossam Pork and I really wanted to try this establishment out. Glad I did! Although it was $35.99 for the entree, it definitely was delicious! The pork was tender and flavor was good! It came with green leaf lettuce and a side of red pickled radish thing. I wished it came with a side of raw garlic like at Ten's Butcher. We also got 2 orders of beef tofu soupv($19.99 each). It came with a side of purple rice. Their purple rice was not that purple and seemed mixed with white rice. It came with 4 sides of banchan. You can see the photo I posted ..it was OK. I ordered on their website. It's strange though because in my bag they gave me a menu and the price for their beef tofu soup was a buck cheaper. I am thinking because I ordered online but it was directly from their website. Ordering online took 30 minutes. Service I'll need to check that out when we dine in next time. Ambiance was nice...the place is spacious and clean. There was a group dining in when I went in to pick up.

Seoul Good Sister restaurant to the now defunct Lucky Soul Diner (fka Jeonju) that offers up traditional Korean comfort foods, alcohol, and a nice assortment of banchan. My current favorite meal/food is Galbi-jjim, so I tend to save it for special occasions like my birthday, and Jeonju's rendition was my choice for this year. The Good: *No-frills décor, but I liked it. Some of these places try too hard, and it's best to try and KISS. I did like the cooking shows on the TV, tho. That's always a good call imo. *Prices aren't too bad, and you get a lot of food for the price. The Korean-style Grilled Beef Rib (aka Galbi-jjim) is priced at $70, but it's easily enough food for four normal people--or me and my brother. *Speaking of the Galbi-jjim, it was fantastic. It had all the things in it that I crave: sweet, salty, umami, and a ton of fork-tender beef. If you've never had this dish before, I can only describe it as the best beef stew you'll ever have. End of story. *I've seen other Yelpers describe their Banchan selection as just OK, but I thought it was great. Every dish was a winner, including the random semi-raw broccoli. But I love broccoli, so sue me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ *Nice Korean alcohol selection to choose from. I highly recommend that Neoul Bom Slow Village Makgeolli Brewed Draft Rice Wine. The Meh: *No outdoor dining *Service was fine, but it was literally one guy taking care of the whole restaurant. I felt bad for him but he was doing a fine job tbh. Altho, it's probably why we didn't get the tableside fire show on the Kalbijjim. =/ The Ugly: *Forget about trying to communicate with them either by internets or by telephone. I was trying to let them know ahead of time we had a party of six arriving and they didn't respond to their Yelp messages or a simple phone call. Which makes you wonder, why are they bothering to pay Yelp to enable messaging when they don't use it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ *Huge shared parking lot that's a shit-show under the best of circumstances. This is a very, very popular strip mall with tons of dining and shopping options in an area that isn't known for having much of either. Conclusion: Delicious Korean eats in a casual environment, but the location has gotta be one of the worst in SJ.

    Kimchi fried rice
    Michelle H.

Food was okay. I don't think I would come back because everything was mediocre and kind of expensive! The kimchi fried rice had good flavor but there was no protein except for the egg, so it was basically just rice and kimchi mixed together with a fried egg on top for $14. The bulgogi had a taste of like butane or gasoline. The rice cake was not bad but it wasnt amazing. The beef tofu soup was standard. The things we liked the most was probably their side dishes. Service was okay. They were attentive but not very friendly. Also, we saw that they would bus tables with the same gloves that they place new dishes with... seems a bit unsanitary :( The store itself looked clean but there were a ton of small flies inside the store constantly flying around our meal. It's strange because its winter now and the amount of bugs inside is weird

Delicious food with lots of sides and great portions sizes! We even had enough to take home, and it was still good afterward. Came with a group of 6 and they seated us immediately. The only downside was that it seemed like there was just one guy working, and he even ran out of shot glasses. Service was kinda meh because of that, but overall the food made up for it. Would definitely go back!

Fast service and lively atmosphere can't mask subpar food. The service was pretty good, and being relatively close to the Santa Clara convention center, it was pretty lively after an event. Unfortunately, it seems that we all made the mistake of choosing something close in proximity without checking reviews. I think the prevailing theme throughout the dishes was that the flavors for each dish were a bit unique and not quite what I was expecting (negative connotation). The beef bibimbap had a bit of a fishy flavor and was quite soggy. The cheesy rice cake deluxe had a sharp, atypical cheese flavor. The sides were just okay, and the oxtail soup didn't have very tender meat, nor was the soup very flavorful. For those of you with good experiences, I envy you.

    Serena L.

Oxtail soup - 3/5, came with three pieces of oxtail; one big, medium, and small piece. Oxtail was very tender. The soup was on the salty side. We expected a bigger bowl since the menu picture looked bigger, but it was the size of tofu soup. Bulgogi bibimbap - 2/5, there was very little bulgogi. They had a lot of veggies and used purple rice instead of white rice. Not bad, but very little meat

*visited with a party of 7 around 6pm on a Sunday evening I'd like to begin with I rarely give out 2 stars reviews - I've visited this restaurant multiple times now, both during lunch & during dinner and usually the staff here are pretty kind and attentive- this visit was disappointing. I'm giving 2 stars because the food is not bad, and the waitress was kind but the waiter was incredibly rude. Our party had ordered about 10 items or so, and was excited as we had family visiting from out of town. As the food came out and started filling the table, I was surprised at the attitude & demeanor the waiter was giving us. Maybe he was having a rough day, but his service was not the best it could be. The restaurant itself is pretty spacious and bright. I loved their LA galbi & their Cheesy Rice Cake with Ramen- definitely give it a try if you do visit. The food was good, but when your waiter is rolling his eyes & not acknowledging you after several attempts, the experience just goes down hill.

    Amy V.

My favorite thing was the seafood pancake - it was super crispy and hearty! Granted, it was a bit bland but the dipping sauce made up for it! I think in terms of taste, it isn't bad. I felt the army stew lacked the saltiness factor and had too much kimchi juice but the fixin's inside made up for it. I also liked that the galbijjim wasnt too fatty and definitely is worth getting. I thought this had the most flavor among the items we ordered! The environment here can either suite a quick meal or as a place to linger and hang out. We did the latter and enjoyed the great alcohol deal they had :) Service was as expected. There was 1 person to handle the entire restaurant with bringing out the food and drinks (online ordering system) so it felt efficient since we weren't keeping anyone from doing anything, and another came out to help if needed or if we had a question. While they won't check in with you to see how things are, they're quick to respond when you need something.

    Heather H.

I don't think this current wait staff was set up to succeed, very clearly understaffed and understocked yet somehow overpriced. Most items were out of stock at 6pm and looking at the reviews now it seems like they have been for a while. Floor was insanely sticky. Bathroom was not stocked with toilet paper or paper towels and didn't look like there was a plan to be. The food was okay, but a bunch of small things added up: - we had ordered purple rice and the photos literally only show purple rice but we were given white - wrong drink served and with no cup, we had a tiny togo container meant for a small soup to use as a cup - no banchan??...at all?

Jeonju Hostetter was absolutley delicious! We had the Beef Soup Kimchijigae, bulhgolgi bim bimbamp, and a seafood pancake -- every dish tasted fresh, homemade, and full of flavor. The kimchijigae was rich and comforting, the bim bimbamp was perfectly seasoned, and the pancake was crispy and packed with flavor. The staff was wonderful and so welcoming too. Definately a hidden gem, I'll for sure be coming back!

Was skeptical at first because of the prices. But after tasting the food and portion size, I can say worth it. The galbijjim was so good. They don't ask for spice level. Cheese was put on automatically. I am used to the ones in San Francisco where they ask spice level if you want cheese what toppings you want. It came with rice cakes, carrots, onion, green onion. It was fall of the bone. Tender. Flavor was so good. Not too spicy a little on the sweet side but it balanced each other out. Loved how thick the seafood pancake came. Some places do it thin. Korean army stew didn't realize the large was a LARGE. lol we should've downsized. Good could go without it next time. Mandu surprisingly really good. It had really good seasoning in the filling. They got us in and out food came out quick.

Solid korean spit with delicious food! Would recommend The short rib with noodles were 8.5/10. The broth was very hearty & strong, we savored the flavor and loved this dish. Seafood pancake 9/10- crispy and lots of seafood. Only con was it was dripping with oil from the plate. Solid ban chan! Adorable ambiance.

For the cold noodles, it was pretty refreshing and a bit light in flavor. It came in a icy vinegary broth with noodles, half a boiled egg, pickled daikon and some pieces of galbi (short rib). Also had option of adding more vinegar and/or mustard if you wanted. The noodles were chewy but that's how it is, recommend asking for some scissors to cut the noodles if it's hard to chew. For the spicy buckwheat cold noodles, it had much more flavor, had a gochujang base, and thicker. It came with half a boiled egg, pickled daikon and pieces of galbi. We ordered the beef soup and the appetizer short ribs, which is about 6 pieces. The sides were good, special shout out to the warm jjapchae! The short ribs came out sizzling, and had a great char with a sweet soy sauce flavor. Meat was tender and had the perfect chew to it, such a comfort meal with the rice. The beef soup came boiling, and there was a generous amount of beef, mushrooms, and tofu. The only complaint I have is the soup ratio was less than what I'm used to so about halfway through the pot there wasn't much soup left to pour onto the rice the way I normally do. But that's not a bad thing, means you're getting more protein! Service was great, but it's a bit expensive from what I'm used to so I docked a star. I'll check out other places and see if this is just the normal pricing for the area.
