This SomiSomi location is in the Pacific Pearl plaza. This is a busy area / plaza with a big parking lot, but it gets pretty busy on weekends and weeknights, so parking may be hit or miss here, but I usually find a space further away and just walk over. Ordering is through an employee at the register, but when it gets busy, which is most evenings / nights, then you may have to wait at the front counter for awhile before being helped. This location once had the most consistent quality, but it has been hit or miss for me - different experience / taste on each visit for some reason. I only frequent here because this is their closest location to me (without having to cross the bridge), but I find myself going a bit further to their other locations in the past few months instead. I have not been to this location in the past few months because of the poor and unprofessional customer service, but when I recently came back, it seems like there were a bunch of new employees and service was at the very least decent. My go to is usually their Matcha Soft Serve in a cup with no filling and / or 2 pieces of Cheddar Taiyaki. Now that they released the Matcha Custard filling, I get 1 piece of Cheddar Taiyaki and 1 piece of Matcha Custard Taiyaki. Both are for the most part delicious, but I feel like the cheddar one seemed a bit empty / not enough cheddar, while the matcha one seemed a bit melty / runny compared to their other locations. I recently ordered their Upside Down Ahboong with their matcha soft serve & new Matcha Custard filling. While I did enjoy that the Matcha custard was not hot like it is in the taiyaki, I did not prefer that the ahboong is cold and a bit hard, since it is not fresh and have been sitting out on the tray for awhile. I also tried their Matcha & Milk swirl when it was in stock and it was decent, but the milk flavor overpowered the matcha, which I did not really prefer. If they ever have a Matcha & Milk Tea swirl combo, I may try that. read more

It's great how the menu has a "step by step" of how to order and the options- it makes things much easier and moves the line along quicker! I love the different flavors of soft serve and how you can swirl some of them and how you can choose your filling for your taiyaki. I always love to order the upside down ahboong so I don't have to feel so rushed to eat the ice cream before it melts! Bonus points for how you can have toppings sprinkled on at the end with no extra charge! Unfortunately like other Somisomi locations I've been to, there is nowhere to sit so you have to head to the sidewalk to eat standing up or eat in your car or wherever you can find a spot to sit. read more

I just tried it on a sunny weekend afternoon and this place is packed. Parking is bit tough as there are many restaurants in the same complex. I ordered cookie and creme swirl with milk and a waffle. Even though they are busy it didn't take much time for my order. They are very friendly and asked me multiple times for the toppings. They have unlimited toppings. I like sprinkles, a little different than normal ones. They also have strawberry and macaron. The waffle was perfect with crispy edges and soft serve is good. I loveeee SomiSomi. We randomly stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. Lucky us there was no line! I ordered the Cookies and Cream with Ube swirl and the cute Taiyaki cookie waffle fish on top. Our order got delayed because their system to process payments froze and the girl tried to make up for it by grabbing my order and topping it with the fish waffle and handing it to me. BUT I wanted toppings.. lol.. When I went to the topping corner it seemed they had very limited toppings. The Somi Somi I go in Santa Clara definitely has more toppings and little cookies + fruit options available but this one only has cookie crumbles. When I picked my Biscoff Crumble topping the guy put the toppings on the sides of the waffle fish. Isn't it supposed to be toppings first to cover the whole ice cream THEN waffle fish? So I didn't get much toppings.. which I found disappointing.. Anyway I LOVED my ice cream! SomiSomi is always great and consistent. As for the service here, it was super fast and the kids working there were polite. They were not friendly exactly.. but polite. lol. Also there was a huge line of people on the wall eating ice cream from high tables. Can you at least provide chairs for your customers? The one I go to in Santa Clara has chairs and tables nearby. This place was packed on a Friday night in the summer. Everyone was feeling like some soft serve ice cream in a taiyaki cone. Although I was already kinda full from my dinner, I decided to go crazy and go for their upside down Ah Boong with ube soft serve in a cup. I also requested matcha custard to be lined inside of my Ah Boong. The matcha custard on the taiyaki really worked and was super yummy; I would definitely get it again. The ube soft serve was nice and creamy, although I couldn't identify the ube flavor very much. I felt like I tasted more of the vanilla in it, but regardless it was still good. The finished touch of the macaron was not good though; it was dry. The store was tiny but cute, but I wish they offered some tables or seats for people to enjoy their desserts there. I got myself a matcha and cookies and cream swirl with oreo cookie crumble crumbs as a topping, and I also got a fresh strawberry cause I love strawberries and a macaron, be warned it is a macaron shell, but still amazing. My older sister got an ube and milk swirl with a strawberry, macaron and biscoff crumbs for her toppings. my younger sister also got a matcha and cookies and cream swirl topped with just Fruity Pebbles. My dad got the same thing my older sister got, also with a strawberry, a macaron and biscoff crumbs. Next time, I would like to try their other flavors too. I have also got to try their taiyaki, which are fish-shaped waffles filled with either custard, taro, red bean and more. Came here on Friday evening around 9 and there was a really long line. It moved rather quickly, so no big deal. There is a big parking lot, so parking was a breeze. We ordered a upside down ahboong with matcha and a milk and ube in a cup. When you pick up your item, they will ask if you want any toppings. There are a different variety of "crumbs" - graham cracker, Oreo, etc that you can dust on top of your soft serve. You can also add fruits or macaroon on the side as well. Upside down ahboong is basically one of the fish waffle on top of soft serve, served in a cup. This one was with matcha. The matcha was very creamy and thick. It was very good. It definitely had a lot of matcha flavor. The fish waffle is SO GOOD. They make it right here. After taking it out front the mold, they have a fan to cool it, so it is super crispy and light. Recommend having the fish waffle. Also, you can fill the fish waffle with different things such as Nutella, custard, taro or red bean. We had ours with taro and it was pretty good! Milk and ube in a cup was very good. These 2 make a good combination together and was very creamy and thick as well. I really enjoyed these flavors together. If you don't like SomiSomi then I can't trust you. What isn't there to like? Delicious and creamy soft served ice cream with unique flavors. With fresh taiyakis as well. This has always been my go-to dessert spot regardless of the location. There isn't much to say about a chain, but this Pleasanton location is a great experience every time. It's surrounded by tons of good Asian restaurants as well which makes this a great option after dinner. The staff is always super friendly no matter how busy and crowded it can get inside. I always have to get the Upside Down Ahboong is always a must get and the last swirl flavor I tried was a Mango/Oreo which was a weird combo that somehow worked. Their Taiyakis are always freshly made and their oreo flavor is my favorite as they literally stick a piece of a oreo inside. It is too good. Couldn't recommend this SomiSomi location enough! My friend moved to Minnesota and when he visited CA for 5 days, he went to SomiSomi 3 times. I was like ??? I did not understand, it's just ice cream in a fish?? And then I went for the first time. Upside down ahboong ($6.45): Your choice of soft serve in a cup with their signature waffle cone on top. You can also choose a filling in your cone!! Nutella, custard, taro, or red bean. My friend ordered the milk tea/matcha swirl with custard filling and savored eeeeevery bite. Cold brew float ($5): Okay, I get it now. I also ordered the milk tea/matcha swirl, and it was SO good with the cold brew. When the soft serve eventually melted, it was the best milkshake I ever had. I do have to note that both a spoon and straw won't fit in the lid, so I scooped soft serve with the straw :P You also can't open the lid because the cold brew will spill otherwise. A very full float for $5 and a very happy Mabo. Since the swirls change every week, I see why people flood the place in the hopes that their favorite flavors will be in the same swirl. Was really craving something sweet after work so decided to come to SomiSomi in the the Asian Plaza next to the Livermore Outlets. This place is located near the 85 degree bakery and across from the Ranch 99. The are known for their ice cream and waffle fishes on the bottom but was craving the taiyaki. I ordered 10 fishes and got the custard and Nutella filling. My order came out decently quick especially for being made on the spot. They were also really crispy but chewy but you could taste how fresh they were. Beware: The filling is HOT!! I also really enjoyed how they put them in a box and also labeled them right to left. This makes it easier to know which one is which, especially if you are getting a variety of flavors. There is also not really any seating inside, so you will have to eat on the bench or in the car.
