Everything was okay when we got to the drive thur , ordered two meals & a side and a milk shake. The lady repeated back our ordered twice. Drive to the window to pay and pick up. Waited 15 minutes in line even though it was dead. Get to the window. And they had a completely different order that contained just a burger meal and shake. What is going on sonic? I had never had Sonic before it come here to Maui. The first time I had it, I was surprised because it wasn't bad. I had a cheeseburger and tots. Went back again tonight and totally different food! The cheeseburger was cold, cheese was not melted at all. I had wanted onion rings, but we don't have them here, so hubby shared some of his fries with me. I put a couple fries in my mouth and there was a hair with them! Gross! (He's bald, so not his hair) I don't think I will try it again. They also messed up my hubby's order. Rip off and can't even give you the right size cup for your drinks. I ordered a medium shake that was almost 8 dollars. It was given to me in a non-Sonic clear plastic cup. It looked small and it was. The medium's are supposed to be 20 ounces and this was only 16. Last bad experience I am going to have here. read more

First time to Sonic in Kahului and we had the 1/4 lb. Burgers, fries, pretzel and Strawberry Limeade. Service was great as we placed our order at the window. Food: 3 out of 10 Fries Salty, Mozzarella Sticks Cold, Footlong Coney Dog (prefer a Costco dog), Bacon Burger (average), Teri Burger(no opinion, wasn't in package when I got home. Slushies: 8 out of 10 Raspberry good, Grape too sweet Desserts: 7 out of 10 Yummy but could use more of the good stuff in there. Just saying if you're gonna call it a reeces blaster, it better hit me with some chocolate peanut butter goodness with every bite. Service: 2 out of 10 Staff was nice. However... Had to return the same evening to get the burger they owed me. Had to wait in the long line again because I couldn't get through on the line listed as their manager phone on their receipt which I discovered is also the only number to call with any issue. No apologies for the inconvenience, no bone thrown my way and no manager appearance when I asked to give some feedback. Went through drive through only, but ambiance seemed to be chaotic with the wind the area picks up along with having to wait for flights to land so that you don't have to compete with the noise while ordering. We waited a few weeks to try out this new Sonic location. We did the Walk Up ordering because the Drive-Thru and Drive-In were really backed up. When we got into the line there was a few people there who waited to order, after a few moments we found out that they were there waiting for a long time. When it was our turn to order the order taker told us to hold on and she will help us "shortly". This ended up being a 45 minute wait. The whole time we waited we saw the Drive-In orders being taken care of first (Yes I understand it's Sonic Drive-In). We saw crew members going in and out passing out orders to the cars, not one of them bothered to show concern or check on any of us waiting outside to order if we had placed an order or not, which is really bad customer service. Just an idea that maybe they should just discontinue the Walk Up service if the same urgency for Drive-Thru and Drive-In will not be given to the people standing in line. When we finally got our food the Coney Dog was good but the tater tots you could tell that the oil needed to be changed. We also got Cherry Limeade slushes which was delicious but the presentation was bad, it looks like it overflowed and they didn't even bother to wipe the outside of the cup, leaving the cup sticky and wet. I'm hoping with time and experience, the service and food gets better. read more

This is the second time I came to this establishment. The first time I came I expected it to be chaotic due to the new employees and the recent opening. So it was expected. So I decided to try it again. Only 3 cars in line what could go wrong? Went to the drive thru and she was super nice on the speaker. I ordered a #4 which is the teriyaki burger combo w/ tater tots and a drink, A plain hot dog combo, w/ tater tots, and a drink, mozzarella sticks, and a strawberry shake. She repeats my order and tells me 40 something dollars. Awesome. Finally get to the window, young lady says ok you ordered a cheeseburger combo and a resses shake. I said excuse me? She repeats it and I said that's not my order. She closes the window and talks to an older lady. And she comes back and hands me a bag of tater tots and says we are changing your burger and closes the window. A few minutes after the older woman comes to the window and says your burger is almost ready. I said please repeat my order? And she says a teriyaki burger combo and a resses milkshake. I said where's the rest of my order. And she looks at me like what order. So I repeat my order and she just looks at me. So I gave her back her tater tots and said no thank you this is ridiculous. She just looked at me as I drove off. This is the last straw, this is the last time I will be coming to this place. I always went to Sonic in the mainland and never have I ever encountered service like this. Will not be coming back again!!!! I hope someone in the corporate office sees this because its only tarnishing there Sonic name. read more

I've been to Sonic my whole life and ever since I moved to Maui I obviously couldn't get it unless I was visiting the mainland. So naturally I was excited to get my banana cream pie shake once again! I decided to try the hamburgers and surprise my girlfriend with lunch today. I went in the car lane to place my order and the girl who answered the box was so robotic and had zero ability to talk to someone as I was asking questions on menu items and she couldn't even converse like a human. I then finally just gave up on trying to ask a question on their burgers (it's been 7 years since I've eaten sonic) and placed my order. I reconfirmed the order as I asked for an extra patty on my Aloha burger and she responded yes it will be a double. Of course I get home and nope it was a single patty. Tried to call to inform management but no answer or return call was made. The strawberry limeade is a rip off if it's a medium literally 3 gulps and it's whole 6oz of liquid will be gone with nothing but ice... definitely not what I remember. The burgers was okay. Lacking LTO quantity and quality. But then it boils down to price. I paid $31 for 2 meals that would cost a lot less at Cupies and where I would get better quality with customer service. Order was placed and about 5 minutes later the food is delivered without the drinks and sundae that was ordered. Sister in law spoke to an employee and they said they would get right on it. However while waiting in line for the drive through we watched how much the team member was hustling to make the process go by as efficiently as possible. Sonics in Kahului contains the worst customer service I have ever received. My family and I had waited 15 minutes to order on stall #8. The only thing we got was "one moment" and then a second time "the person in-front of you never received their order" however, no one was in front of us. Employees walked out of the door multiple times seeing us standing and waiting, Not once did they offer help. When we finally got their attention, they had poor management, and judgement, as they were swearing at each-other. When someone finally took our order, they were rushing the order, and did not give us time to order. Very poor customer service, many people came after us and got their orders before us! read more

Unfortunately had a bad experience here. I ordered a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Sonic Blast and I received ice cream in a cup with a dollop of peanut butter syrup on top. The manager refused to fix the mistake and said "I should've been more clear on my order" 1) There's no such thing as a Peanut Butter Sonic Blast- they have candy mixed in like a McFlurry so it should've been obvious to the staff since all the choices on the menu are clearly labeled- (the menu speaks for itself!!) The manager told me " some people order peanut butter in ice cream" So I pointed out that I didn't order a shake and it was actually the staff that misheard me but she just walked back inside. The manager is bad and the staff are poorly trained. 2) the food was much too expensive for the quality. I paid over $18 for 3 piece chicken strips, Mozzarella sticks and a Sonic Blast.
