This is by far the worst fast food experience I've ever had. It's honestly so bad that it's funny. They double charged us but "didn't have a manager" on site so they jipped me out of $20. When I contacted corporate they basically said "We let the manager of the store know" That was 5 weeks ago and nothing has happened since. The staff is a whole different problem. None of this has anything to do with Covid and I understand what people are going through in these troubling times but these people are miserable. They need a sonic Jesus to come down and save them because they are constantly understaffed and constantly complaining. I'm just trying to get a shake at midnight and then I have to be this guys therapist because he works until 2 am and has to get up again to do it in the morning. Franchise owner should be fired. There's one sonic within 100 miles from Boston and the managers are never at the store. The place is so run down and the drive in menu's have food smeared over each one. They need some serious help. I went to sonics and ordered 2 m&m sonic blast milkshakes. When I got my milkshakes back, I started to drink mine. I did not feel or taste the m&m's at ALL. I was VERY disappointed and unsatisfied. The employee that gave me my milkshakes was very rude aswell. She gave me very poor customer service. Anyways, when I got my milkshakes back, not only did they not redo the milkshake, but they put only 12 m&m's on top of the whip cream AND they took out my cherry. I was very excited to get my milkshake back and all i get back is CRAP. Overall I do like the place but the service was TERRIBLE and UNBELIEVABLE. Please do BETTER!! praise the lord jesus. read more

Life is full of both good and bad decisions. Good is grabbing that super healthy salad while out on the road when looking for a bite to eat. Then there are the times you get unhealthy cravings with convenience tied in. Those are the times I've been to Sonic, whether late at night after a few drinks or an afternoon of driving around the North Shore and wanting something quick and kitschy. Sonic's marketing is slick but the food needs to be better to keep me coming back. I really do love the concept of ordering and eating in your car from teenagers on four wheel skates, what is more American than that!? But much of the food, blech. Soggy hot dog buns come with a decentlyl done Chicago dog, why must the bread out of all things ruin a good thing? The drinks, both confusing and overwhelming come to you very underwhelming and leave you with a "why did I order THAT again?" feeling. There are few things done well here. The $1.49 corn dog is adequate but how difficult is it to mess something like that up? My favorite item here is the tater tots, with cheese or without. I'm sure I'll make the shortsighted decision again to come back here, whether it's because I am close by heading north on Rt 1 or my wallet is feeling light and I want to save a few bucks. This has been our go-to for a while when headed up to camp in Maine, but this year things seem a bit rough, food was 'ok' but doesn't seem the same quality as in past years, bathroom were very rough, top off of toilet tank, many of the pull in kiosk's weren't working. Ok here we go, first off there should be a ZERO star rating. I went there today with my family, 5 kids, 2 adults. I started off by saying to the woman in loud speaker in drive I have a rather large order just FYI. 3 kid meals, 3 adult meals , one drink for myself. After every order this very rude woman cut me off trying to rush me thru the line like it's the Indy 500. Once we got there EVERY SINGLE ORDER WAS WRONG. She was very annoyed that I turned it back for what I ordered and more importantly I paid for. Even my kids sprites were selzer water (no big deal just change the line ) but didnt want to correct it. I said I wanted to see a manager, she came back with the correct orders instead. Couldn't get a name since she wasn't wearing a name tape. Couldn't talk to a manager cuz no one answers their phone! Christopher M. best described Sonic when he stated in his review that it was "not so much a culinary experience as a cultural one". I myself had waited for months to go there, both for things to start slowing down and for an opportunity to drive up there and yesterday this opportunity came when Scott B., David P. and I, dropped one of our friends off at the airport and were left in our car both cold and hungry. So out of Logan airport we drove and towards Peabody we went using route 1. We drove past some pretty notorious North Shore joints on our way up, eyeballing Kowloon's, the Hilltop Grill and various other local joints and then it came - a very well lit, car-filled Sonic drive-in! I had never seen one and only heard of it from many people and there it was, in front of me. We swung around and entered through the rear entrance (giggidy) and waited for a few minutes until a stall opened up and then placed our order; food arrived about 8 minutes later. I had a cheeseburger with tots and strawberry limeade. It was all greasy, sugary deliciousness. Don't tell my trainer at the gym. I enjoyed it and the prices were decent. I like how different it was from the rest and found the waiters on skates to be pretty cool and a lot of fun. A very American kind of thing to do! Considering that there isn't really any good fast-food in Boston (No In-N-Out!) this was definitely better than Wendy's or McDonalds but still falls short compared to other West Coast-based chains! Then comes the bad news about Sonic. Despite having good prices and being fairly convenient (you don't leave your car) it lacks healthy food options. There's really nothing under 600 calories on that menu that I could find - even their apple slices come with a caramel dipping sauce so if you are watching your waistline this definitely isn't a good place to go - They could have made a slight effort. And also my large sized drink was about 80% ice. I do understand the fact that they need to make a profit but I only had few sips before that horrible sound of oxygen being forced into the straw came echoing through the cup and into my ears. So if you are in the area and you are hungry, it's worth it, sure but don't completely out of your way for it and definitely don't wait in 6 mile-deep traffic for it like people did when it first opened. read more

This is really just fast food on wheels - kind of kitchy in a way. We got stuck in awful traffic coming from Maine and the kids/dog/mom were getting antsy. I remembered this place existed and knew we were close and it would not be too out of our way. My daughter loved it - the two teenagers were not impressed - the middle-aged mom thought it was neat. The tater tots were good, but we opted not to drench them in cheesy sauce which I think was a good call. My son, not a fan of tater tots, got regular fries and thought they were a-ok. My oldest just had a plain dog, the little one had mozarella sticks and I had a chili cheese dog. All in all, I liked it. That being said, I would not go out of my way to come here. read more

We waited maybe 20 minutes in a line of cars, and were psyched that we were able to drive up to a stall. 3 stars..for the food... 5 stars for service! I was definitely a sonic newbie..we drove in and got in line for the drive thru..BUT then i pointed out that we can just park and eat here! The spots where you can eat in your cars was pretty filled..so we just sat down. I've been served by a very friendly manager on my past few visits which made me change my opinion of this location. Today's visit changed this. Walked into the restaurant, waited a couple minutes to have an employee come out of the bathroom and say someone will see you soon. That was a tad bit strange. And this is where the story goes downhill. An employee comes into the dining room to take my order; however she is on her phone and proceeds to talk with her friend while trying to take my order. I ended up waiting until she hung up to repeat my order. And this is where it gets good, while repeating my order back to me, she proceeds to place a new call while on speaker phone. While I'm trying to place an order. I really can't make this up. I understand not liking your job, but this was a whole new level. This was one of the wildest transactions I've been in. I've been to this Sonic twice, but I haven't eaten there either time. A normal visit goes like this: - I arrive late, during a non-busy time (~8pm), about 10 cars total parking and drive-thru. - I get to the parking spot and press the order button. It says someone will be with me, please wait. - After waiting for 20 minutes, I decide to quit and go through the drive-through instead. - I realize all 5 other people have had the same experience, and the drive-through line is moving about 1 car per 10 minutes. - I drive away. My one complaint is that the service seems slow for fast food...maybe about 10-15 minutes of waiting. But at least you get to sit in your car and listen to the radio! Typically if you make your way into the the actual establishment itself, there is nobody at the computers because they are running around. That isn't the staff's fault, that is managements fault for either keeping employees who are late nor do not show up for shifts, or understaffing a very popular joint. If there is attitude spread your way, be an adult and take it. Ya'll would be stressed out too, I know I would be. I have been waiting for years to pop my Sonic Cherry. Today it happened!!! After 10 years of watching commercials hundreds of miles away from ANY Sonic, they FINALLY opened one here, and I got to go. How I wanted to get there on its opening day, but second day is a very close consolation prize. Additional prizes, an extra set of french fries and a chocolate shake because they messed up our order, BUT it was their second day and they were totez busy. The burgers were good, the shakes were great, and I am madly in love with their strawberry limeade (with fresh lime and strawberry pulp in the cup). It loses 2 stars for 2 reasons. One - traffic, they seriously are tying up Route 1 North as it is just too busy. The wait is a little over 40 minutes whether you are doing drive through, stall service, or patio seating. Two - French fries! FAIL. Worst fries ever. I will def go again and may even give it another star if the traffic gets better when the novelty has worn off. If I could give this place a half star, I would. We have been to other Sonics, mostly in California, and the food isn't bad for fast food. However, we stopped on the way of our drive from Boston to Maine. The service was AWFUL, we had ordered our food, and they fulfilled the food portion, but forgot about our iced tea and bottled water. We reminded our server numerous times about the missing drinks, and finally she came out with our drinks. Might I add, the drinks were ALREADY PAID FOR, and the lady comes out with a receipt. 100th review!! I must admit I was uber-excited to try Sonic for the first time even though the reviews have been extremely mixed. Picture this: Peabody, Massachusetts; 11.30am on a snowy Wednesday in January; 3 colleagues traveling to an off-site meeting, desperately hungry for nourishment. Sonic delivered. The menu: *Bacon-cheeseburger Toaster: Far better than anything on offer at McD or BK. The Texas toast was a wonderful substitution for a normal bun and the hickory sauce gave it a nice zing. *Pineapple shake: Best shake I've ever had at a fast-food place. A little on the small side but I'm sure it alone contained all of the calories I needed for an entire meal. Even has small pieces of pineapple in it so you know it is more than just an artificial flavouring (although I'm sure it must contain that as well hehe). *Tater-tots!!: These little golden nuggets of fried potato immediately transported me back to middle school. All that was missing was a slightly overweight, (in a cuddly, grandmotherly kind of way) just-past-middleaged lady named Patty serving them up on a Styrofoam tray with a tiny box of chocolate milk. Sonic did a good job with the tots; mine were crisp, hot, and delicious. *Cherry limeade: I know I ordered a shake but this drink came with my combo and it was tasty and refreshing (needless to say I only had some turkey broth that night for dinner since I definitely exceeded my daily caloric intake at Sonic!). Came by to grab a few drinks with one other person. It was moderately busy and we came around 11:20 pm. We didn't leave until 11:56 . How did it take half an hour to get 2 drinks ready ... I understand there were maybe 6 cars at the drive in and some cars in drive through... but seriously... half an hour to make 2 limeades doesn't make sense to me . Not to mention that when the server came to the car, she only brought 1 drink. All she said was " here you go have a good day." And she said it like she was bored of being here. Didn't apologize for the long wait or double checked to see if she got the order right . I kindly told her "excuse me, we actually had 2 drinks " that we ordered and she said " oh was it a medium...?" And I showed her the receipt and she said " oh my bad I'll be right back" . If she had been more professional and didn't act so bored of her job, I wouldn't have been that mad. But a 30 minute wait and horrible customer service just made me realize that it makes 100% sense why this Sonics only had 2 stars. I wouldn't even be surprised if this sonic has 1 Star.
