I like Sonic, it's fast, it's good grub. I give props to the men and women on skates, that is something that can't be easy!

OMG, GROSS!!! So iam really not a big fan of Sonic.. I have tried them a few times and just not my thing! I will say their Drinks are Amazing... but not the food! eww!! So today topped the cake.. I have seen that add on the commercials (damn commercials) and wanted to try that new Pretzel Dog with cheese and bacon! I have to say when i received it the Onions on them were really strong and stinky but I still proceeded to eat this thing! I can say I was excited after a few bites I had put down the dog and noticed some green spots at the end of the bun!!!!!! EWW it was MOLD!! So I ripped off the ends both sides and thought well it was just a little part.. after that I was kinda freaked out and decided to further inspect my Bun to find more spots of MOLD! Can I just say FREAKIN GROSS.. not it got me wondering.. what about the onion rings were they fresh enough, the milk?? am I gonna get sick off eating this... only time will tell!! Lets just say I wasted $8 today cause I had to throw all that away.. and Sorry Sonic!! I will NOT be going back for anything!!!!!!!!!! Sincerely Grossed out! read more

While eating a chicken sandwich, I found my tomatoes were black-not green-black. When I showed the carhop he looked super disturbed. However, when brought to the manager's attention he brushed me off saying they get fresh tomatoes everyday. He wouldn't even throw it away for me. Nevertheless, this sucked, ruined my dinner and I am incredibly disappointed. Whether they thought it was fine or not they should have apologized for serving something like that and replaced my meal. Sadly, this place has gone downhill. I've waited for drinks only for over 30 minutes on multiple occasions. It seems they are super overwhelmed and disorganized. They would have left me waiting for eternity if I hadn't bothered them to get the order. read more

Great place if you love bland food. I've gave this chain to many chances. The food is sub par at best . Probably my least favorite fast food chain. Costco or weneirsnitzle has a better dog. I really hate to say this but even burger king has a better , well you know.... read more

Robert (Max) was so slow, it took 20 minutes just to get two classic shakes. All he did was complain about how tired he was and how he wanted to go home. He also didn't give back all of our change. Ellie on the other hand was very sweet and helpful. read more

Wish I could give zero stars :( If you are offering a happy hour then shouldn't you have your stuff together to bust out orders left and right cause you know they're comin? Apparently this not so smart location doesn't think that way. I went through the drive thru to get one single blast. I sat there for 37 minutes. I was already p.o.'d cause they have the words half off written on the sign I ordered off of and apparently I picked the one thing on that sign that wasn't... Then after I get around the corner to where I can see inside the door where the carhops come out, I see multiple employees just STANDING there. THEN one of the guys who was standing there grabs some food and a drink, and proceeds to walk (not skate!) out the door and deliver that food to a car THREE cars behind me.. In the drive thru! What, did she call in and say she would give them 5 bucks if they brought it faster?? If I were ever coming here again, maybe I would try that. At least they got my blast right, as I read thru many comments saying after all that wait they can't even get a burger right. You've got to try the Chicken Club Toaster (Tip: substitute honey mustard vice mayo. trust me - it's good). This sandwich is amazing!!! It's been my favorite so far. I've also tried the watermelon sprite, that was pretty good too. They have so many different flavors you can add, I haven't had the chance to try all of their different drink combinations you can make. So far, so good. read more

You know, despite the drive into the middle of nowhere all the way from North County, this place wasn't too bad. When I asked my friend about this place, she said their drinks are far better than their actual food, and I could see how that could be true. I didn't know what to order, but I wanted something different, and something I couldn't regularly get. Once I saw the Frito's Chili Cheese Wrap (with onions, of course), I couldn't resist. At first bite, I noticed it was a clean wrap, something I appreciated especially since we were eating in my car. The wrap itself wasn't that bad either, although I wouldn't get it again. I also ordered a side of fries (pretty average), and a Cherry Limeade, and might I say that was pretty bomb. If I could, I would try all their drinks, but since it's too far out of my way, that would be a very long project indeed. If you're within 15-20 minutes of Santee, I'd say to go, but any further than that, you might be pushing your luck. (By the way, the drink itself was worth four stars, so I decided to give this review the benefit of the doubt and round up to four out of five stars.) read more

This was our first time coming to this Sonic as we had only been to the one in El Centro. El Centro... Santee.... What's the difference? We remember it being pretty decent but we're so glad we didn't go when it first opened here because there's no way I would like to wait in line for more than 15 minutes. Being a Monday night, it was pretty dead and since we're not really "crowd" people, it was ideal for us! We ordered the following: Jalapeno Poppers: Good, but I prefer them to be stuffed with cream cheese. Mmmmm! Sonic Cheeseburger: Pretty delicious and stacked with lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. Chicago Dog: The bun was the best part! It was like an Everything Bagel transformed into a hot dog bun. The dog itself was juicy and came with peppers, pickles, etc. However, it was a little on the small side. Ocean Water: After a MILLION pokes from my b/f, I asked what the Ocean Water was. Basically, it's Sprite with Blue Coconut flavoring. Sounded like a yummy idea but I was underwhelmed. It was blue alright but it didn't taste like coconut AT ALL. Maybe my expectations are too high on the coconut flavor scale but I seriously think they forgot to put it in. Also, the cup was filled to the top with ice. We took a few sips and the drink was done! Ok, let's be honest...the majority of the food here is pretty terrible. So why do I keep coming back? The drinks and the desserts. It's very simple. Those are the items that shine on this menu. The burgers and everything else...bleh. Though I do enjoy the hot dogs and tater tots here. But that's about it. The drinks, however...that's another story. I have cravings for those drinks...nay...WITHDRAWLS when I don't have one every few weeks. And oh, the options. They're mind boggling. Nearly limitless...times infinity. Yeah. I said it. Young kids who don't listen to order instructions. Almost a guarantee for them Not to bring napkins out and then you have to ask and wait for them to come back again. You could order ice cream, and they won't bring you a spoon. Order buffalo wings and ask for ranch and they won't bring it to you, you'll have to reask when the car hop arrives. The people working here have no clue. It's like a bunch of valley people from Dazed & Confused or something. I only order ice cream now. Everything else, you might as well go drink a bottle of laxatives, it's cheaper and does the same thing. Prepare for a stomach twister if you eat anything here. read more

I've always heard this hype about Sonic, so I thought to myself I should check it out. I went with a few friends after we hit up the casino (since it's all nearby). I ordered the mozarella sticks which I didn't enjoy. Poor in taste. My friends stomachs were settled after eating, but the food was not what either of us were expecting. I thought of this adventure to Sonic as Harold and Kumar's trip to White Castle. The only impressive items I recommend are the slushies. They are delicious! Sonic is pretty far from East Chula Vista so whenever we are in teh area we have to pass by. I ALWAYS get a cream slush. Cream Slush is a mixx of their slushie and ice cream!!!! My faves are lime and pineapple. read more

Okay so, now that I was finally able to have Sonic, I realized what the "big deal" was. I had driven by Sonic 3 other times (not to mention it is completely out of my way), but never stopped because the line was always 1 hour or longer wait. Today we went for a late lunch at around 2ish and were able to park and walk up to the order box with out having to wait. We ordered a Sonic Bacon Burger on Texas Toast and a Jalapeno SuperSonic, with fries and the almost required cherry limeaid. Everything was DELICIOUS!!!! The Bacon BBQ burger had very little BBQ sauce on it, but we just asked for more and the carhop brought out a few more containers. We will definately go there again. I do have to say that I don't think it's worth waiting 1 hour for, personally, but it has replaced In & Out AND Fuddruckers for me as my fav. burger places. read more

Honestly sonic was always a good place to go to but today they lagged so much my friend order a water melon jolly rancher slush and it took 10 minutes and they go the order wrong then it took them another 5 minutes took make his order correct and waaayyyy before him I ordered 2 Powerade slushes with nerds and it took the about 33 minutes to make them and when I got them they were all melted( mostly everyone behind me got there orders first) I will definitely will never ever come to this sonic ever again! read more

This place disappointed me. I came here on the opening day, I'm not going to complain about the hour long wait because I understand why. I rating this place two stars because of the food. YUCK! my Chili Cheese coney was cold and didn't taste like it was cooked. The Lime-Ade was delicious, but my mom can make that too Tater-tots aren't that amazing, I can find better ones at Costco. What can I say, Sonic has a mouth watering selection of food. Burger, Fries, Tater Tots, Hotdogs, etc....... A variety of Drinks and Deserts. The cool thing is they have happy hour 2-4, 1/2 off all drinks.... Man what a deal. Now all they need is to put one closer to San Diego. read more

2 months later, same circus. I've waited to hit this, but 8pm on a Tuesday and still there's a long line in the staging area, accurately described as a ghetto back street. Not happening. Even though I was really hungry I drove on. C'mon, it's just cheap drive in eats. I have been to many sonic's across the country. This one is just not up to par. The hamburger's just aren't the same as the other sonic's we have been too. It is very lack luster to say the least. The drinks are of course awesome but the "hype" over sonic is just not there. read more

First, I have to disclose that I am not a typical burger fan, especially the fast-food variety. Second, I had heard many of my friends raving about Sonic so I was ready to give them my opinion. But, guess what? I am now a huge fan! Not only is the novelty of the old-style drive-thru really cool but the service is amazing. Our server went back 3 times to get us extra stuff that we ordered (since we were newbies, wasn't quite sure how the system worked). She did it all with a smile and even switched our order to a combo for us to save us money WITHOUT BEING ASKED. Did I mention that the food is great? Way better burgers and fries than fast food places (e.g. Carls Jr, McDonalds, etc.) but even significantly better that In-N-Out which was our previous fav. My only complaint is that they need more locations n San Diego (Santee is pretty far from Chula Vista for burgers). Otherwise, great! Check it out read more

Best Banana Splits around, nobody does them like Sonic!

Went for dinner with the family tonight. On the menu was a special for the boneless chicken wings. Said buy one order get one free. So we ordered the 24 pack, then we were told that that special expired on the 1st. The lady taking our order came outside to look. We showed her where the advertisement is, she then said that she was just an employee and couldn't do anything. We asked to speak to a manager and she told us that he was really busy inside. I explained that they need to honor the sale that was posted. She then apologized once again and said that they have been really busy to change the ad and once again said "I'm only an employee" as she continued to ignore us and walked back inside. We pressed the button again and asked for the manager, a few seconds later he came out and we explained that the ad was still out and needs to be honored. The manager explained that he is just the night time manager and can't do anything. When we drove into Sonic's they only had 2 customers and a staff of about 10. Not sure how they have been to busy to change the signage since the 1st. today is the 4th and around 8:30 pm. read more
