I've been a somewhat regular customer since Sonic opened. In the past 2 weeks I have been to this location on 3 separate occasions. I've waited in line for over 10 minutes only to be told they are out of the item I was ordering. Maybe put a sign up so people don't waste there time sitting in your drive through only to find out you aren't able to offer something. 2x out of ice cream and the 3rd time out of eggs. They make good shakes, but they are overpriced and the wait time is extremely long. Waited in drive thru lane for over 15 minutes with only a few cars ahead of me. They say they're understaffed, but I usually see at least 3 or 4 people through the drive thru window when I pull up. read more

Not my first time here ,but this is my first review here. Haven't been here in a year and nothing much has changed . The food to me tastes like it was from frozen no matter what you got esp the Philly Steak sandwich which wasn't tasty at all. Bland flavor and too overloaded with meat for a hotdog type bun. My onion rings were big and crunchy like they are supposed to be ,but you do need a dipping sauce on the side. My daughter got chicken strips ,but they were bland also and dry . She got a 5 piece meal with tater tots that were ok she states . The drinks were a Strawberry Sprite slushie it was very good ,but I could have did without Strawberries being on the bottom they kept getting stuck in my straw I thought it would be a syrup only type drink. This has to be the worst fast food experience in my life. It just took a full 35 minutes to get my food and make it through the drive through. Here is the real kicker. I ordered a number 11 (chicken dinner) and we sat for 25 of those minutes out front of the building. We ended up leaving after we had waited long enough. The line of cars was building up as we were sitting there and we were fully not expecting to get our food at that point. The chicken sandwhich in our order was so poorly made the bread was burnt and also soggy. The only good part of the place is the beverages. Always a 10/10, thats where the 1 stars coming from. In my defense, I might just be missing something here but I don't get the draw to this place like at ALL. I mean, if I'm gonna eat in my car I'll just go to a drive through, I don't need some weird person roller skating up to my car. So that part of it is off the table right away. Food-wise it's like this: I've been here 4 or 5 times and tried most of the basics (burgers, dogs, fried stuff, etc.) and never has any of it been more than just okay, and sometimes a little less than just okay. To me it basically tastes like food you'd get at a concert or sporting event, I mean it's not terrible but shouldn't really be an option if you have any other option. Which is really hard to do. The steak and cheese, had more bread than steak and cheese. What makes this a little step up from a fast-food nightmare is the service and the way you order. I stopped here for breakfast, since I've never had it here. I got the breakfast burrito with sausage. I must say for fast food that was the best fast food I've had period. The burrito is huge, and the eggs were fluffy like a diners. For a little over five dollars I had the burrito, tater tots, and an orange juice. Even mcdonalds would be at least seven or eight bucks. This Sonic is brand spankin new to Connecticut, and apparently the first of many. Since its brand new, expect a line to wait (both drive-thru and stalls), until the hype is over expect to wait anywhere from an hour or less. Right now they are operating under temporary hours until August, once I am aware of those "normal hours" I will post them for all to see. The food is delicious, try anything once! My personal favorite is the chicken strip dinner, mozz sticks, and a cherry limeade. Its super reasonable as well! The atmosphere is fun, everyone is happy, good music, and a car-hop delivers your food on roller skates (weather permitting) Also, the entire menu is offered all day, and they feature a "happy hour" with half price drinks daily! Classic greasy fast food. The burgers are good and the chicken is chicken. By far the best thing about this place is the TOTS. There are only a few places where you can good fried tots. The drive-in style eating is relaxing and great for families and those traveling with their pets. They're brought out a doggy ice cream treat for my dog a few occasions. So, long as you don't target the busiest times, 5:30-7:30PM you'll have little to wait to get a stall. read more

Went for the first time 1-2 months ago. The burgers are alright, I mean delicious, but nothing out of the ordinary. The tots were, well, tots. The whole car hop experience was pretty cool. The red velvet cheesecake blast was awesome. Oh, and those cheesecake bites with dipping sauce? If we knew how good they were, we would have just ordered multiples of those. I have never been to a sonic before but after this experience I never will be again. After looking at the menu for about five minutes and then waiting to order for another five we were told that they were only accepting orders through the drive-through so we then had to get an a line of about 10 to 15 cars. When we finally got to order, we tried to order the New York hotdog, to be informed that they don't carry that item anymore. Why is it on the menu if you don't carry it anymore? Absolutely disgusting and painfully slow. The bathrooms were gross. We waited 30+ minutes in the drive through with only two cars in front of us. We ordered four dunks. When we finally got to the window, we watched the person working the window make iced coffee by dipping a used cup into a vat of creamer with his dirty hands and then stirring it with a giant dirty whisk. One of our drinks was missing (a small sprite) and when we drove away we realized the diet cherry limeade had no lime and the Sprite Zero had obviously run out of syrup. At this point, we had wasted 45 minutes for two completely undrinkable drinks and two regular sprites. Stay away! read more

Wont ever order from here again! My husband and I took our kids for ice cream here and saw with our own eyes the girl drop the serving spoon on floor and attempt to use it on our ice cream ! She saw us watching her from the corner of her eye and then quickly apologized and used a new spoon . How gross ! What if we were not looking ? All of Connecticut seems to have been swooned by the one fast food franchise that, until now, had pervaded the entirety of the nation save for New England. Flavorless burgers, gross hot dogs, downright inedible fries... I could go on forever on how their menu ranges from uninteresting to revolting. Sonic gets two stars for the FEW things on the menu that are marginally palatable... The grilled cheese, the diabetic-coma inducing drinks, and a handful of the breakfast items. I've been to a Sonic before, so I wasn't all that excited that it was coming to CT. I already knew that the commercials make the food look way better than it actually is. Now, yes, I understand that is a stupid comment. If you watch a McDonald's commercial, people are practically having an orgasm when they bite into a Big Mac, and the real life Big Mac never looks like the TV Big Mac. We all know this. However, Sonic commercials are a lot funnier, and their food is much more unique, which makes it seem more appealing. The reality is that their food is just "meh", even for fast food. The worst thing here is the burgers. Tasteless, lifeless, pointless. McDonald's burgers have more flavor and texture, and that's saying something. Sonic's burgers are about as bad as it gets. Yes, some things, like the chili cheese tots, are pretty good, and the variety is seriously enormous. So, you can sort of try different things to see what you like on the menu. The problem is, I don't wanna eat my way through a fast food menu to figure out what I like and what I don't like. I generally know what I want before I go to a drive-thru (or sit in my car waiting for someone on roller skates to bring it to me). I will say that for soft-drinks, Sonic is 5-star. The combinations are seemingly endless. Cherry limeade is my favorite. I would go to Sonic just for a cherry limeade and nothing else. Ultimately, if I was hungry and driving down the road and I came upon a Sonic, I'd keep driving and see what else is around. I really do appreciate that Sonic is trying to be different, but I wish they'd do a better job with the product they're putting out. I struggled with how many stars to give for Sonic but finally decided on two stars and I'll explain why and what I had to come to the decision. I generally as a rule don't like to give out lower than 3 stars but sometimes places like this deserve it. I've been to Sonic roughly about 10 times. I've had pretty much all the burgers at some point and even the chicken. The quality of meat for the burger is slightly less than McDonald's. The overall quality of sandwich is about the lowest you can get for fast food. The toast that they are known for is little more than soggy, limp bread that was browned a bit. The chicken sandwich was very meh and dry. No thought was gone into the chicken at all. The fried pickles were as gross as you can get. Tots are good, especially with chili. But honestly, go to the store. Buy a bag of tots and a can of chili and you have the same exact dish. You'll even get more and odds are it will be better. Now the 2 stars explained! One star I give to the employees. I haven't had a bad employee yet. Everyone acts the part and does their job to the best of their ability. No complaints on that end. The 2nd star is because of the drinks. This is where Sonic shines. The Cherry Lime Aid is so good it's crazy. lol I am a huge fan of this drink. Much better than the one at Taco Bell. I've tried a couple other lime aids and they were still really good. Unfortunately the lack of food on their menu that is any good keeps me from going back. I will stop in if I happen to be in the area and thirsty. Sure, I'll stop. But if I'm hungry I'll drive somewhere else to one of the many food places in the Wallingford/Meriden area. I probably would have given Sonic another star just for the drinks but the parking lot really takes that star away for me. It feels so cramped in. This was the worst Sonic I have ever been to, hands down, and I've been to quite a few in my day. Usually you can count on Sonic for a decent burger or chicken sandwich, some fresh and hot tots and a delicious limeade. Not this Sonic. My husband and I were driving from Boston to NYC today and stopped on the way home expecting something delicious to fill our bellies for the rest of the ride home.
