This place is somewhere my family goes to get out of the house and eat and go on a long drive so it's nice there's a lot of places to stop and eat so you don't have to be limited to "their" parking lot and what I got was a number 3 combo with no mayo and a grape nerds slushy and the food was a bit messy but so good it only took 4 minutes for all of our food to arrive and we all got a lot we even got an extra drink the fries kinda tasted like onion rings but still good and my slushy had a lot of nerds and was so good so overall a 9.7 out of ten One of the better restaurants so good read more

Even after a few years, it's still just three stars and maybe just two, based on the ridiculously long wait for fast food. We were foolish to think it had changed, but we tried. After a long unexpected day away from home, we decided to grab a quick burger and tater tots. Oh boy. This location has reopened their service stalls clearly before they were ready. We were in the drive through line SO long. We watched the kids inside prepping our food and they were moving incredibly slow. Not judging per-say, since you never know what struggles someone has, but it did appear the employees hadn't been properly trained AND were understaffed. We noticed NO ONE outside was getting their food. Just as we pulled up to the service window, an enraged woman (who seemed inappropriately angry) tried to launch herself over car to convey her frustration at the staff. "When am I gonna get my food? I've been waiting an hour!!!" Her head looked like it was going to explode. I mean, I really, really like Sonic chili tots and banana shakes, but I'm pretty sure I would have politely just asked for my money back after an hour wait. They're just not THAT tasty. It made for some interesting entertainment, although this being Alaska, I was truly concerned given her rage that she might be packing and we were in harms way. Well, it's Sonic, and as far as drive-thru, it was pretty good. We went to the part where you park, and order from the screen. We were asked to hold for a minute, and it really was no more than that. I got a basic cheeseburger combo with Sprite (which i gave to him, as i wanted the strawberry limeade) and he got chicken tenders, with no side. Meaning I've got to share fries with him, which I. Do. Not. Like. The order came out very quickly, and it was a big hefty looking cheeseburger i must say. The flavour was really good and beefy too actually. I was pretty impressed with that, and the one thing that i expected to cause me an issue, (and it was my fault, not Sonic's,) was the fact that there was diced raw onion in the burger. I did not even think to say "hold the onion" When i eat raw onion, i get a really bad stomachache, so i avoid it all costs. I take probiotics and prebiotics prior to eating, to help with digestive issues, so once i realised there's onions in the burger, that are diced quite small, and would be difficult to remove without making a gigantic mess, i just took an extra probiotic tablet, and hoped for the best. The onions gave a lovely crunch, and i was enjoying them. The fries were crisp and well seasoned. He said his tenders were only a 3 star tender, and fortunately he only ate a couple of my fries, or things would not have gone well for him. I have a lap tray that i would normally bring with me if I'm gonna be eating in a vehicle, as i find it helps to avoid that in-car mess caused by eating meals in there. I forgot it, so that's why i didn't attempt to remove the onions from the burger. Anyway, i can report that i did not suffer with my stomach later that night, which was a blessing. The strawberry limeade was really good too, nice and tangy. It was good for drive-thru, when you need to eat in a hurry, which was a necessity that evening, and i would definitely go back. read more

Ignored the door bell you require people to push to take in order inside. We have a trailer on our truck and can not go through the drive thru with it. Can't use a bay either. We waited 20 minutes. One person ahead of us ordered, got her food and left. They never even addressed us when they hand delivered her food. Even though we were at the counter. What makes this even more messed up is last night we were going to get food but it was SEVEN minutes before closing, I decided not to be an ass hole and make you stay late. As I made that kind gesture like 2 groups of people walked in, about 7 people. Yet the next day at 2:10pm on a Thursday you couldn't bother yourself to serve us. We left and went to DQ and got served in five minutes. The time it took us to leave sonic and pull into DQ, order and get food was quicker then the wait we had at Sonic. DQ had better service. It's been quite a while since reviewing Sonic. I saw a post of Facebook saying their lobby was open, so I decided to give it another shot after terrible earlier experiences. Of course the lobby was closed. I was about to get in the horrible drive-thru line when I saw a piece of paper taped to another sign that said the drive up kiosks were open for app orders only. No one else was at a kiosk, so I decided to try it out. Took me a few minutes to set up my Sonic app and order. (Your kiosk number is displayed in lower left of main screen at kiosk) TWO MINUTES LATER they brought my food out!!! That's really fast. And it was the correct order!!! I DID tip a dollar. Apparently you get a discount using the app too. read more

It pains me to have to do this but what the hell Sonic? We tried you three times in two months to see if customer service would change....it didn't. The long wait times are more than likely because (most of) the employees are spending more time chatting and socializing with each other and friends that come in that they aren't focused on getting the food out at all. We went in the last time for a cherry limeade and a Chicago dog and we waited 45 minutes while some of the employees were goofing off and chatting it up and doing absolutely nothing while a few other employees were actually working. Drove past saw some openings in the drive inn area, went to pull in for an early dinner and noticed an older car just sitting there with a child's safety seat in the back and the window down. It totally looked like someone broke down there so we went around and backed in the exit. We were told in a rather rude tone. They've closed the area off and that's why the car is blocking the area. My husband suggested they get a sign because it just looks like someone broke down. He snapped back and said well that's why there's a cone there! As you can see in the picture you can barely see the cone cause it's in the front of this car, further more what does the cone actually mean? New Chain in Alaska. it is good and what you would expect from Sonic the down falls are that they are in the valley and not Anchorage. They have had multiple times that they have to stop taking orders to catch back up. this is disappointing when you order something that takes 5 mins to make they you wait 40 mins to get to your order. it's alaska and i would recommend waiting 3-6 months before you truly try them after the craziness of something new in town has died down. you get a 3 for now sonic because it did taste good and the staff was friendly but waiting 60 minuets for my order was kinda a bummer. Also if you order a drink please provide a straw or a soppy cup lid. not providing anything is frustrating. read more

4/6/24 order the supersonic breakfast burrito combo. Whoever made them needs to learn how to actually make a burrito. They put on 2 slices of tomatoes not diced and they were on the faded yellow side. Everything was slapped in the middle of the tortilla and the sides, top and bottom were folded over it. For a fast food place, Sonic isn't so bad. In fact, I may have found my new favorite beverage in their highly-acclaimed cherry limeade. I have a pretty low bar for what constitutes a good chili, but after sampling it on their tater tots and hot dog, I can say with assurance that theirs is pretty tasty. Seems like everyone thinks the food is pretty mediocre here, so I'll probably stick to beverages and desserts if I return. Ordering and eating inside the restaurant is kind of weird in that it's a hybrid between typical fast food ordering and seated service. One of their bellhops stopped by our table and asked if we wanted anything else. Otherwise, the staff were pleasant and seemed happy to work there. All in all, not a bad experience. read more

I don't want to be THAT guy but I guess I am. Once a week we spend about $60 for a meal for our family at Sonic. For the last 3 weeks the three side dishes costing $6 each were less then half sized servings. The first two weeks all I received was an apology. No offer of recompense or replacement of full actual servings. Tonight was the 3rd visit in a row with the same results. I asked for the manager and she refused 3 requests to come to the window and speak with me. I was told 3 times that "she was just too busy to come speak to me". She was only about 15' from the drive up window but apparently just couldn't make the effort to walk over to speak to me. As fellow Alaskans know, we have seen Sonic commercials for years but were never able to dine at Sonic until recently. Unfortunately this location didn't come close to living up to the hype. If you're from Anchorage, resist the urge to try it. Just don't do it. I attempted to order the heavily advertised on TV boneless wings, but this location doesn't carry them. I don't see much benefit in opening a franchise, yet not being able to offer some of the most popular options. I settled for a burger and medium fries. I'm not one to complain about portion sizes, but I genuinely don't believe I received a medium fry. The order was literally smaller than a small fry that any of Sonic's competitors offer. The burger on the other hand was a disaster. I immediately noticed the cheese wasn't melted, and the burger was lukewarm despite being a special order (no pickles). I found myself wishing I could microwave my meal immediately after receiving it. As for the taste, this burger was worse than a gas station burger. Nothing about it tasted fresh and the lukewarmness of it was super off-putting. The only thing I could taste was mayo. I'm not sure that the beef was even seasoned. As if it couldn't get any worse, on one of my last bites, I bit into a large hard piece of what I'm assuming was bone. Disgusting. This meal made me regret my life choices. read more

Sonic Drive In Wasilla Alaska: No one in line. Was so happy. Ordered, drove right up to the window and paid. I sat there for 16 minutes. Window guy comes back and says I owe him $21.59. Told him I'd already paid. Didn't believe me Until I explained in detail etc. Waited another 10 minutes. He handed me my order & quoted what was in my bag. Waiting for the excitement to die down since Sonics opening, I waited until now to try sonic's Alaska location. We went inside tather than wait in our car and was surprisingly impressed by how short the line was and how long it took for them to take our order. Unfortunately, its been literally over an hour and I still have not recieved the food I ordered. So much for being called a fast food restaurant. I understand the wait if you have not ordered as of yet, but taking over an hour to get our food is unacceptable. People, dont wait your time with this location. It's NOT worth the wait. read more

My family and I stopped in to give em a try: - 2 stars for the food (shakes, Sundays, we're great - the burritos, cheese burger, and corndog were average - 1 Star for service (barely because the staff is really new) - 1 Star for clean, warm restroom that smells nice Oh and theres power at EVERY TABLE!!! The view of the mountains is great The restaurant is warm even on a cold windy day - which is something because the surfaces were selected by people who primarily live in a warm climate. read more

The only reason I am giving one star and not zero stars is because a.) zero stars isn't an option and b.)the pretzels are good. That's about it. The customer service is terrible. We ordered three things and they had to run back and fourth because they kept messing up the order and bringing us other people's food. Wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt because we al have our off days. Next time we went, we sat for thirty minutes never getting our food. Got told it'll be out whenever it's out when we asked. After forty minutes multiple people had come and gone after us we called again see the issue and they had our food done and had just let it sit out on the counter. When we finally got it it was cold. I drove 54 miles to have lunch there on the way to medium I need time pacifically to stop in there and get something to eat for Saturday and Sunday they had corndog specials and of course if you order online half off and drinks I tried to make a order from home and it kept on seeing the nearest sonic was the lower 48 I thought it was just a mistake I got up up to Wasilla park my car I went back online to place my order and it recognized that I drove 54 miles there after 15 minutes trying to screw the app it would except it I thought it was just me so I was late to my meeting the next day I make sure the location on my iPhone gave us so plenty of time drove up there it was the same damn thing again so this time I got in line it was eight cars in front of me at placement order all is good I didn't realize the cars in the parking area hadn't been served yet after I placed my order only if you do get out of line and go to my meeting once again without getting fed when I talk to them at the drive-through I asked her about the website or the app and she goes oh it's not working right now, what is the Internet saying it down and why is it when you drive up to the Drive in area on the menu it says the app is down I think it was a scam because I didn't want to give away corn dogs and $.50 it's a bait and switch and I bet will happen again and again and again so sonic your last customer Grove 108 miles of driving just to have lunch there and you' screwed yourself as me as a customer now I'm gonna badmouth you for a long time on your bait and which is too bad I was pretty excited to have lunch there read more

Everything was cold and dry and they messed up the order such as a chicken sandwich had nothing on it when I asked for no pickles only.

This was first time ever eating at a sonic. Not sure if it's just location or not, but this was the worst fast food I have ever eaten. We had the #11 mean with what they called chicken strips. They were nasty and small pieces. The oil that they cooked everything in must have been old, tasted like a shrimp flavor tatter tot and chicken. Not sure what the break was that came with it, but it was dried out and overcooked. Never again. read more

Honestly I was surprised how terrible the food and service was. Why people make such a big deal about Sonic I will never truly understand. It's fast food with a drive in spin which I liked visiting in Texas now and then but the new Sonic here in Alaska needs some help. I have visited the establishment twice. The first time was a 45 minute wait because it is still new to the valley. The second time was early in the morning with about a 15 minute wait. Both times I was not satisfied with the cleanliness of the facility (inside and out); and the food just did not impress me. If you want a decent burger or fast food, there are much better choices in the valley and Anchorage. If you want to feel like you are going back to the 50's and 60's in a drive in setting with real drive up booths outside then give it a try but be warned -- the food and service is nothing to write home about. Keep in mind they just opened -- perhaps that will change with time. The facility is new but filthy with trash inside and out with employees running around looking like blind chickens with their heads cut off. Give them some time and perhaps that will all change with time and constructive criticism; but I definitely will not be going back any time soon. The onion rings, drinks and breakfast burritos are something different but I would not recommend going back again until they get settled in and have some dependable and service oriented employees. read more

We had only gone to the drive thru during this visit. I had ordered a bacon burger and it wasn't as great as I thought it'd be. It lacked flavor and the patty was on the dry side. The tots were good, definitely had better. The wait time wasn't long at all, which was awesome because there were at least 6 cars ahead of us. Aside from that, I'm going to try it again and maybe try the drive in. Something different so definitely going to try it once more. read more

Hey, I lived in Texas for 8 years and having a sonic in this state is amazing. Here's my thoughts. My biggest heart ache is that they have a select menu. That means they don't even have coconut cream pie milk shakes :c My experience with sonic here compared to my experience out of state is dramatically different. They only have one row of "canopies" here. So I waited in line for 30 minutes just go get into a spot. Note that This is almost a year after opening here in Alaska, everyone loves sonic c: Down in the states, you're rushing to pay with your card before they complete your order because it comes out so quick.(long wait time, I'm typing this as a wait for my food now) I just think they should have more drive in spots. Most Sonics have at least 3-4 rows of drive ins. Obviously they're doing their best but they should of prepared for success, more rows so nobody has to wait in line c: You guys are doing great, I'm thankful to be able to have something that reminds me of my home. read more

Every single time I have been there the line is sooo slow and the food is cold. I don't recommend this fast food place. The owner never responds to the customer and the folks working there don't seem like they like where they are working. I also found that to get assistance on what the menu is, pretty much non-existing. I had questions but I didn't get answers. Anyway I wouldn't use my time or waste my time to wait in line and I wouldn't ever park in the parking places and wait for service that's going to be a long wait. And to get answer from the owner or the manager that not going to happen. I think Alaska folks need to choose another fast food place. I am giving the place one star because I got a discount once for being a first responders and the individual worker said "Thank you." Not that I ever needed a "Thank you" or a discount but that was very nice of that individual's comment. Go if you must but there's far better places in Wasilla with the Manager/Owner who responds to the customer. And this place clearly isn't a place that wants customers returning. I gave Sonic several tries and yeah I am not ever going back. And the manager or owner doesn't care about what customers are saying about this place of business. read more
