Went through the Drive-Thru today and ordered a kids meal with a milk for my 1 year old..... 30 minutes down the road later, when I go to serve my daughter the milk, I see that it's dated 12/24/17. It expired almost 2 weeks ago. How does this go missed????!!! Lucky for me, I caught it and didn't end up with a horribly sick kid. I attempted to call and speak to the manager twice today.... and BOTH times the manager was "too busy" to come to the phone. If a children's milk can go this long without being checked.... I really used to love this place I went so often when they first opened up not so much recently but I did decide to head over the other day and grab a drink for me and one for my sis who was working across the street I ordered us both the same drinks and one had absolutely no ice at all and no flavor ! I went back and they let me swap for a slush which was a lot better I kept both drinks because they couldn't take it back so me not wanting to be wasteful I kept it for myself I opened it up to pour over ice and there was a HAIR stuck to the side of the styrofoam cup and lid I was so grossed out not only that the woman taking my order was speaking so low and sounded irritated so I should have known right then and there it was going to be a terrible experience,I will not be going again. read more

Management needs to get there shit together here.. no customer service what so ever. Rude af. Waited over a hr for 1 simple drink it's 4th of July I get no one wants to work but if your in the service industry deal with it. After waiting 1hr for our drinks I called the manager to complain about it and the manager himself sounded miserable and was very rude. Didn't do anything about. I am so disappointed in this Sonics. I pulled up to the drive thru and started placing my order just fine when half way through the person on the other end told me they couldn't hear me. I was then handed off to another person and this person completed my order properly. When my meal was handed to me. I checked my meal. It seems since they were having issues hearing me my order was not completed right. I had to wait 10 minutes at the window beyond the initial 5 minutes waiting for them to add meat to a simple sandwich. 2 cars behind me in the drive were served and left while I was waiting. Now I don't expect the greatest food from Sonics but it was very subpar this time. We got a hot dog where the bun was twice the size of the hot dog and the sausage on the breakfast sandwich was thin and over cooked. I have never had such a bad experience at any other Sonics but I will be avoiding this one in the future. read more

Quite possibly the worst sonic's I've been to. I ordered the Sonic Crunch Chicken Strip Dinner and some Jalapeno Poppers. The poppers were fresh and delicious. The chicken strip dinner was stale and old, you could tell it had been under a heat lamp for a while. I informed the girl of the state of the meal, and she went to go replace it. When she brought back the replaced meal only one of the three chicken strips was hot, the other two were of the same consistency of the first meal I had received. It was crap. Both times they didn't include the sauce I had ordered. The drink was fine, but the meal was just a representation of laziness. Keep driving, there are better places down the road. read more

Since I have to give it a star I will, but the most ticked off thing about this Sonic is they charged me twice $22.73 within minutes. I thought it may have been a mistake and so I waited for my bank account hold was off the account and I look at the actual deductions and sure enough...I was charged TWICE!!! SOOOOOOOOO I drove to the Sonic with a copy of the receipt and my bank statement and they told me that it wasn't their fault and they refused to return my $$$, and this was only 4 days after the charge happened with a DEBIT Card from the stall. They told me I have to goto my bank and ask them to Dispute the Debit 2nd charge and only after that someone should credit my money back.....But I wonder how long this will take. I wonder where my money went if they can't find it in their system????? I'm just saying....If anyone else in Yucca Valley has had this same type of issue please post it on YELP!!! I have been tormented by Sonic commercials even back in my high school days, when talks of fast food happy hours and cherry limeade were more than several hours drive for me. I've had Sonic a few times since then, and each time, it's the solidly delicious fast food that you would expect. The Sonic in Yucca Valley/Joshua Tree is no different. The waitresses amble around on roller skates, some clearly better than others, under the desert heat. I think everyone needs to fulfill the little fast food demons in their soul that cry "YOU WANT TO EAT HERE. YOU WANT TOTS" and I am always one to give in to my whimsies. Unless you really want to eat a heavy BBQ for a midday meal, then take a break from being authentic and enjoy a Sonic cheeseburger and a root beer float. Well, well, well. Drove an hour and a freakin half craving this place. CRAVING!! Get here and sit outside with my two overly handsome friends. We ordered a lot. I can't confirm if we had munchies or not, but we were starved. 3 cheeseburger meals, 2 loaded hot dogs, onion rings, and milk shakes later, and it was all crap. CRAP! Hamburgers tasted like they were left over from last century. Fries were blah. Onion rings were okaaaay, I suppose. Milk shake had NO flavor. NONE. Needless to say, we shan't return. For the food anyway. We were pleasantly entertained by the server on skates as he pole danced in the parking lot. Contemplated throwing some ol' Georgie's at him, but we just blew it all on the nastiness we consumed. Six thumbs down on this joint. We continued on to Skull Rock where we met Carlton the majestic coyote, got our lives threatened by Slither, and then committed a lite crime....a review for another time though. I always love this place due to the fact that you can literally sit and eat in the car and people not look at you like you're fat I love the slushees they have with the candy I always get one every time I go. Don't waste your time! Nothing I've had has been great. In fact, I recently got a banana split and couldn't even finish it because the ice cream tasted so fake. As far as fast food goes, I'd say it's not bad, but the service is horrendous. I've been three times and not once was I able to get through the drive-through in under 25 minutes--and that includes just a banana split. One time I ordered cheese fries and got chile covered tator tots. I returned them because I don't eat meat. I had the receipt that clearly stated "cheese fries". After waiting over 15 minutes, they brought chile and cheese covered french fries. So, I took them back again. Waited another 10 minutes and finally got what I ordered. Never did anyone even apologize for the mistake. Seriously, terrible customer service. Oh, and to clarify there is no waiter service. Whoever marked that has been living in the middle of nowhere too long or was high. Dumping take-out in your lap does not constitute waiter service. read more

Where do I begin!! We waited for almost 35 minutes to then find out our order never went thru. They apologized and offered free dessert but never returned to actually give it to us. The people working there are unhappy and sad. You can tell in the food. The food was disgusting even for drive thru standards. The experience was pretty fun even though we couldn't figure out what button to push to get the car hops to come out. We ordered 1 banana shake and it tasted like....bananas. Also got some sweet potato tots but oddly they tasted like carrots. And the ranch dressing that we were given as a dipping sauce was not the type of ranch I like. As we waited in the drive through (after our failed attempt to pull into one of the spaces and order from there), we saw a couple of car hops and they were amusing. One guy was very good on skates but his face looked scratched up, perhaps he recently had a skating accident? Anyway, it's a cool concept and fun for entertaining kids (or adults like me). read more

I was referred to Sonic Drive-In by a co-worker and remembered seeing commercials on TV. I've gone to this place a few times now (Cathedral City and Yucca Valley). The parking lot is different from other fast food restaurants. As mentioned in the title, it's a "drive-in" which means there isn't in-door seating. You can park your car and push a button and someone will assist you momentarily. Once you place your order, you can either insert your credit/debit card or pay cash when an employee brings you your food. Alternatively, you can use the traditional drive-thru as well. I like their spicy jumbo popcorn chicken and hot dogs. However, sometimes the bun on the chili cheese coney can get soft/mushy because of the sauce but it's still edible. The wait can be long (10-15 minutes) but I don't mind as long as my food is fresh and cooked properly. If fast food is one of your guilty pleasures, be sure to give Sonic a try. It's worth it. :-) read more

A 5 minute wait for a drive through operator shouldn't be considered 3 or even 2 star service. Maybe it would be acceptable if they had us wait a during a particularly busy day but the second time indicated either the understaffed condition or incompetence of the place. Fries were unbelievably over salted and sandwiches poorly built, not even going to talk about the condition of the ingredients but I understand that might not be their fault. However what caused me to write this review to warn others was them getting our drink completely wrong even after we had payed extra specifically for one of their limeades. Didn't expect this place up in the Hi-Desert! This was my first time here and I was amazed by the whole ordering system and how you can park and order in the car. You can eat at the convenience of sitting in a shaded parking spot or the outdoor seating area. They have someone in rollers come out with your order! The burgers are decent for the price. Nothing really special. I think what amazed me more than their burger was the selection of shakes, lemonades, and dessert. read more

Ordered to sonic blasts, my girlfriend wanted snickers I wanted Butterfinger. After we ordered we sat at the drive up for 45 minutes some fat girl came out and asked if I ordered a Dr Pepper then I pushed the button again after 20 minutes and they acted like I was a new person in the drive-through and asked me to go to the drive-through window after I'd already paid and I walked up after 35 minutes and asked to speak to the manager never spoke to the manager finally got the small sonic blasts after 45 mins and they weren't even what we ordered very disappointing called to speak to the manager didn't get any help. This lady gave us a hard time with a simple order at the drive through because we had a coupon for a free drink, we sat there for about 5 minutes listening to her hot mic-ing trying to figure out our order. Then they forgot to give us a tatertot so we had to go back. We were offered by a different employee some coupons, however, we heard the one who took our order tell her not to give us anything.
